Abstract
Inorganic electrides have been proved to be efficient hosts for incorporating transition metals, which can effectively act as active sites giving an outstanding catalytic performance. Here, it is demonstrated that a reusable and recyclable (for more than 7 times) copper-based intermetallic electride catalyst (LaCu0.67 Si1.33 ), in which the Cu sites activated by anionic electrons with low-work function are uniformly dispersed in the lattice framework, shows vast potential for the selective C-H oxidation of industrially important hydrocarbons and cycloaddition of CO2 with epoxide. This leads to the production of value-added cyclic carbonates under mild reaction conditions. Importantly, the LaCu0.67 Si1.33 catalyst enables much higher turnover frequencies for the C-H oxidation (up to 25 276 h-1 ) and cycloaddition of CO2 into epoxide (up to 800 000 h-1 ), thus exceeding most nonnoble as well as noble metal catalysts. Density functional theory investigations have revealed that the LaCu0.67 Si1.33 catalyst is involved in the conversion of N-hydroxyphthalimide (NHPI) into the phthalimido-N-oxyl (PINO), which then triggers selective abstraction of an H atom from ethylbenzene for the generation of a radical susceptible to further oxygenation in the presence of O2 .

Abstract
Visible-light-induced C-H aerobic oxidation is an important chemical transformation that can be applied for the synthesis of aromatic ketones. High-cost catalysts and toxic solvents were generally needed in the present methodologies. Here, an efficient aqueous C-H aerobic oxidation protocol was reported. Through CeCl3 -mediated photocatalysis, a series of aromatic ketones were produced in moderate to excellent yields. With air as the oxidant, this reaction could be performed under mild conditions in water and demonstrated high activity and functional group tolerance. This method is economical, highly efficient, and environmentally friendly, and it will provide inspiration for the development of aqueous photochemical synthesis reactions.

Abstract
Ascorbic acid is the most well-known vitamin found in different types of food. It has
tremendous medical applications in several different fields such as in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics,
and in organic synthesis. Ascorbic acid can be used as a substrate or mediator in organic synthesis.
In this review, we report ascorbic acid-catalyzed reactions in organic synthesis. Several examples
are included in this review to demonstrate that ascorbic acid is a versatile catalyst for the synthesis
of diverse organic compounds. Reactions catalyzed by ascorbic acid are performed in organic or
aqueous media. The ready availability and easy handling features of ascorbic acid make these procedures
highly fascinating.

Abstract
The incorporation of Cu(OAc)2 into ascorbic acid coated TiO2 nanoparticles easily provided a new heterogeneous visible-light active titania-based photocatalyst (TiO2-AA-Cu(ii)) which was characterized by different techniques such as FT-IR, XPS, ICP-AES, TGA and TEM. A red-shift of the band-edge and a reduction of the band-gap (2.8 eV vs. 3.08 for TiO2) were demonstrated by UV-DRS and Tauc plots. The combination of the as-prepared TiO2-AA-Cu(ii) nanoparticles with TEMPO and molecular oxygen (air) afforded an active catalytic system for the selective oxidation of diverse set of benzylic alcohols under solvent-free conditions. A photoassisted pathway was confirmed for oxidation reactions evidenced by good correlation between apparent quantum yield (AQY) and diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS) of the as-prepared nanohybrid. The spectral data and recycling experiments demonstrated the structural stability of the title copper photocatalyst during oxidation reactions.

Abstract
In this study, a new heterobimetallic Mo(VI)-V(V) organosilicon Schiff base complex has been prepared and characterized by different techniques, such as FTIR, Raman, MS, ICP-AES, TGA, and XPS. The bimetallic nanocomplex, revealed by TEM images, showed high oxidation stability and desired activity in the aerobic oxidation of a structurally diverse set of benzylic alcohols in ethanol as a safe solvent. Further, oxidation of benzylic hydrocarbons successfully occurred, producing the target compounds in high yields and excellent selectivities. Our results demonstrated a cooperative effect between Mo(VI) and V(V) as redox active sites in an organosilicon Schiff base framework. A facile and practical reusability of the solid catalyst at the end of the reaction was observed.
