Abstract
Neutron diffraction with isotopic substitution has been used to investigate the structure of the liquid sodium acetate trihydrate-urea eutectic (mole fraction (χurea) of 0.60) at 50 °C. Urea competes with acetate anions and water molecules in the solvation of sodium ions, displacing water and, simultaneously, stabilising the liberated 'excess' water through hydrogen bonding between water and urea molecules in the eutectic liquid. This provides a direct insight into the role of urea as both denaturant and hydrogen-bond network former in generating eutectic liquids.

Abstract
A Ru-catalyzed acceptorless dehydrogenative multicomponent reaction has been developed. This reaction offers a cost-effective and simple operational strategy to synthesize biologically active 1,8-dioxodecahydroacridine derivatives. The protocol provides a wide range of substrate scope and various functional groups are also well tolerated under the reaction condition. To shed light on the mechanistic and kinetic study, some controlled experiments and deuterium labeling experiments were executed. A time-dependent product distribution experiment is also presented and the reaction scale-up is performed to highlight the practical utility of this strategy.

Abstract
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES 2,2'-Arylmethylene bis(3-hydroxy-5,5-dimethyl-2-cyclohexene-1-one) having four carbonyl functionalities along with their tautomeric keto-enol forms, is an important biologically active compound and important synthetic intermediate in the synthesis of xanthenes. This study was conducted in order to develop a new and concise method of synthesis of 2,2'-arylmethylene bis (3-hydroxy-5,5-dimethyl-2- cyclohexene-1-one) derivatives. MATERIALS AND METHODS TEAOH (20 mol %) was fond to be as a simple and efficient catalyst for the preparation of 2,2'-arylmethylene bis(3-hydroxy-5,5-dimethyl-2-cyclohexene-1-one) derivatives by the Knoevenagel condensation/Michael addition tandem reactions. RESULTS A concise and practical method was developed for one-pot synthesis of 2,2'-arylmethylene bis(3- hydroxy-5,5-dimethyl-2-cyclohexene-1-one) derivatives catalyzed by TEAOH at room temperature in various solvents. CONCLUSION This strategy provides several advantages over the traditional synthetic method, and is applicable to a wide variety of aromatic and heteroaromatic aldehydes at room temperature in various solvents.
