Abstract
Catalyst-free Markovnikov-selective hydrothiolation of unactivated alkenes still remains a great challenge. Herein, we develop a catalyst/metal/solvent-free methodology for the Markovnikov hydrothiolation of unactivated alkenes with in situ prepared dithiocarbamic acids, providing a wide array of alkyl dithiocarbamates. A variety of terminal, internal, cyclic, and acyclic unactivated alkenes were applied successfully in this protocol. This three-component thiol-ene reaction can be considered as a new family of click reactions.

Abstract
The applications of 2-hydroxy-β-nitrostyrenes as efficient bifunctional intermediates in organic synthesis are investigated in this review. For this purpose, reactions of 2-hydroxy-β-nitrostyrenes with diverse molecules, including carbonyl compounds, 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds, α,β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds, hemiacetals, nitroalkenes, γ-butenolides, tetronic acid, azalactones, pyrazolones, enamines, malononitrile, methyleneindolinones, ylides, etc., were investigated to construct interesting biologically active scaffolds such as chromans, chromenes, coumarins, benzofurans and their fused and spiro rings, natural products, and other useful cyclic and acyclic compounds. The main focus is on the asymmetric synthesis of these compounds via cascade/domino/tandem reactions catalyzed by chiral organocatalysts. In this review, around 60 papers reported between the years 2000 and 2022 are presented.

Abstract
An efficient, catalyst-free, regio- and diastereoselective approach for the synthesis of novel 7-aryl-3-alkyl(aryl)-6-methyl-6,7-dihydro-5H-[1,2,4]triazolo[3,4-b][1,3,4]thiadiazin-6-ols has been developed via the reaction of 4-amino-[1,2,4]triazole-3-thiols with nitroepoxides in methanol at room temperature. The products were simply dehydrated in the presence of PTSA in ethanol at 70 oC to afford the corresponding 7-aryl-3-alkyl(aryl)-6-methyl-7H-[1,2,4]triazolo[3,4-b][1,3,4]thiadiazines in 91-98% yields. In addition, treatment of the product with acidic chloroform afforded the corresponding α-((4-amino-5-methyl-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)thio)-α-phenylpropan-2-one in quantitative yield.

Abstract
A metal-free multicomponent synthetic route for the diverse preparation of dithiocarbamate-containing piperazine derivatives was developed through the C-N bond cleavage of DABCO ring. This multicomponent re-engineering approach proceeds via the reaction of amines, CS2 and DABCO salts in one pot. Various DABCO salts and secondary amines are tolerated well in this protocol to afford a broad spectrum of dithiocarbamate-containing piperazines in good to high yields. Then, the selected compounds have been deployed against some critical types of bacteria and fungi. A certain number of synthesized compounds revealed not only appropriate antibacterial activity as investigated by disc fusion and minimum inhibitory concentration methods against bacteria (Gram-positive and Gram-negative), but also depicted good to excellent antifungal activity.

Abstract
Reaction of glycine-based dithiocarbamates with nitroalkenes in the presence of acetic anhydride was utilized for the synthesis of fully substituted 2-(alkylsulfanyl)-4-(nitroalkyl)-5-acyloxy-1,3-thiazoles. The reaction proceeds via the in situ formation of thiazol-5(4H)-one from glycine-based dithiocarbamates, followed by the Michael addition of this intermediate to nitroalkenes, aromatization, and esterification reaction cascade. This new one-pot three-component reaction afforded a diverse library of fully substituted thiazoles in high to excellent yields under solvent-free conditions.

Abstract
AbstractThiazolidine-2-thiones were prepared via a novel multicomponent reaction of primary amines (amino acids), carbon disulfide, and γ-bromocrotonates. The reaction proceeds via a domino alkylation/intramolecular Michael addition to provide the corresponding thiazolidine-2-thiones in high to excellent yields. By using diamines in this protocol, bis(thiazolidine-2-thiones) derivatives were synthesized. The synthetic utility of the adducts was demonstrated by hydrolysis, amidation, and oxidation reactions.

AbstractAn efficient method for the synthesis of highly substituted bicyclic pyridone derivatives containing the dithiocarbamate group is reported via a one-pot three-component reaction of 2-(alkylthio)thioazlactones, diamines, and nitroketene dithioacetal in EtOH under catalyst-free conditions. The reaction proceeds via a domino amidation–intramolecular 1,4-addition-type Friedel–Crafts alkylation reaction to afford the corresponding fused bicyclic pyridones with high yields and diastereoselectivity.

Abstract
An efficient method is disclosed for the synthesis of novel α,β-unsaturated sulfonic acid derivatives containing dithiocarbamate/xanthate groups through ring opening of an α,β-unsaturated γ-sultone with dithiocarbamic acid salts or xanthates prepared in situ. Treatment of the primary products with hydrochloric acid afforded the corresponding β-chloro-γ-(dithiocarbamato)propanesulfonic acids in excellent yields.

Abstract
The synthesis of a novel category of pseudo-peptides via intramolecular Ugi reaction of levulinic acid (4-oxopentanoic acid), aromatic and aliphatic amines, and amino acid-based isocyanides is reported. Levulinic acid was applied as a bifunctional substrate containing both carbonyl and acid moieties suitable for the Ugi reaction. This article provides a facile and convenient one-pot procedure for the synthesis of peptide-like heterocyclic molecules containing 2-pyrrolidone (γ-lactam), amide and ester functional groups with good to excellent yields.

Abstract
The applications of DABCO (1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane) in the synthesis of piperazine derivatives including biologically active compounds via C–N bond cleavage are investigated in this review. Different reagents such as alkyl halides, aryl(heteroary) halides, carboxylic acids, diaryliodonium salts, tosyl halides, activated alkynes, benzynes etc. were applied for the preparation of the corresponding quaternary ammonium salts of DABCO, which are very good electrophiles for various nucleophiles such as phenols, thiophenols, thiols, alcohols, aliphatic and aromatic amines, sulfinates, phthalimide, indoles, NaN3, triazole and terazoles, NaCN, enols and enolates, halides, carboxylic acid salts etc. Besides preactivated DABCO salts, the in situ activation of DABCO in multicomponent reactions is also an efficient tactic in synthetic organic chemistry for the diversity oriented synthesis of drug-like piperazine derivatives. The applications of DABCO (1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane) in the synthesis of piperazine derivatives including biologically active compounds via C–N bond cleavage are investigated in this review.![]()

Abstract
Nitroepoxides are easily transformed into benzodiazepines, tetrahydrobenzodiazepines, imidazopyridines, and N-alkyl tetrahydroquinoxalines by treatment with 2-aminobenzylamines, 2-aminopyridines, and N-alkyl 1,2-diaminobenzenes, respectively. Regioselectivity is controlled through attack of the most nucleophilic nitrogen of the unsymmetrical diamine to the β position of the epoxide. These reactions represent an efficient way to prepare privileged bioactive structures.

Abstract
A facile and efficient procedure for the synthesis of substituted thiazole-2(3H)-thiones and thiazolidine-2-thiones by the reaction of primary amines, carbon disulfide, and nitroepoxides is described. By using secondary amines in this protocol, the corresponding dithiocarbamate-substituted phenyl-2-propanones were prepared in excellent yields. In addition, substituted thiazoles and 1-(alkylthio)-1-phenylpropan-2-ones were prepared in reactions of S-alkyl dithiocarbamates and nitroepoxides.

Abstract
A one-pot three-component route for the synthesis of S-trifluoromethyl dithiocarbamates by the reaction of secondary amines, carbon disulfide and Togni’s reagent is described. The reactions proceed in moderate to good yields. A similar reaction using a primary aliphatic amine afforded the corresponding isothiocyanate in high yield. A variable temperature NMR study revealed a rotational barrier of 14.6, 18.8, and 15.9 kcal/mol for the C–N bond in the dithiocarbamate moiety of piperidine, pyrrolidine, and diethylamine adducts, respectively. In addition, the calculated barriers of rotation are in reasonable agreement with the experiments.

Abstract
An efficient one-pot, four-component reaction for the synthesis of dithiocarbamates using carbon disulfide, cyclic imines, acid chlorides, and commercially available primary or secondary amines has been developed by performing an acid chloride addition to a heterocyclic imine followed by subsequent nucleophilic substitution of in situ generated dithiocarbamic acid. With the aid of the newly developed and powerful multicomponent reaction, a direct route for the synthesis of 24 unknown dithiocarbamates in moderate to good yield under mild conditions is enabled.
