Abstract
Systematic reaction path exploration revealed the entire mechanism of Knowles's light-promoted catalytic intramolecular hydroamination. Bond formation/cleavage competes with single electron transfer (SET) between the catalyst and substrate. These processes are described by adiabatic processes through transition states in an electronic state and non-radiative transitions through the seam of crossings (SX) between different electronic states. This study determined the energetically favorable SET path by introducing a practical computational model representing SET as non-adiabatic transitions via SXs between substrate's potential energy surfaces for different charge states adjusted based on the catalyst's redox potential. Calculations showed that the reduction and proton shuttle process proceeded concertedly. Also, the relative importance of SET paths (giving the product and leading back to the reactant) varies depending on the catalyst's redox potential, affecting the yield.

Abstract
Biomass-derived 5-chloromethylfurfural (CMF), a congener of the well-known carbohydrate-based platform chemical 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF), can efficiently be functionalised by radical transformations of its benzylic chloromethyl group. We report here the first examples of these radical reactions by way of metal-free, triethylborane/oxygen-induced atom transfer radical addition (ATRA) reactions between CMF and styrenes, which proceed with high yield and selectivity. The key intermediate, the 2-formyl-5-furfuryl radical derived from CMF, and its radical addition reactions were studied with regard to its electronic structure, i.e. spin density distribution and frontier molecular orbitals based on the NBO ansatz and activation barriers of the addition step using DFT and post-HF methods.

Abstract
(o-Phenylenediamino)borylstannanes were newly synthesized to achieve radical boryl substitutions of a variety of alkyl radical precursors. Dehalogenative, deaminative, decharcogenative, and decarboxylative borylations proceeded in the presence of a radical initiator to give the corresponding organic boron compounds. Radical clock experiments and computational studies have provided insights into the mechanism of the homolytic substitution (SH 2) of the borylstannanes with alkyl radical intermediates. DFT calculation disclosed that the phenylenediamino structure lowered the LUMO level including the vacant p-orbital on the boron atom to enhance the reactivity to alkyl radicals in SH 2. Moreover, C(sp3 )-H borylation of THF was accomplished using the triplet state of xanthone.

Abstract
The SF5Cl radical addition on unsaturated compounds was performed using an air-stable amine-borane complex as the radical initiator. This method showed to be complementary to the classic Et3B-mediated SF5Cl addition on alkenes and alkynes. A total of seven alkene and three alkyne derivatives were tested in the reaction, with yields ranging from 3% to 85%.

Abstract
The one-pot multistep ethyltellurenylation reaction of epoxides with elemental tellurium and lithium triethylborohydride is described. The reaction mechanism was experimentally investigated. Dilithium ditelluride and triethyl borane, formed from elemental tellurium and lithium triethylborohydride, were shown to be the key species involved in the reaction mechanism. Epoxides undergo ring-opening reaction with dilithium ditelluride to afford β-hydroxy ditellurides, which are sequentially converted into the corresponding β-hydroxy-alkyl ethyl tellurides by transmetalation with triethyl borane, reasonably proceeding through the SH2 mechanism.
