Abstract
Ratiometric fluorescent sensing based on dual-emitting fluorescent coordination polymers (FL-CPs) has attracted intense attention due to their sensing accuracy and easy visualization when compared with sensing relying solely on monochromatic FL-CPs. In this work, a series of rare-earth metal-based CPs, formuled as [(CH3)2NH2][Ln(bpdc)2] (Ln3+ = Y3+, Eu3+ and Tb3+, H2bpdc = biphenyl-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid), are presented, which show dual emission aroused from the Ln3+ ions and the inefficient intermolecular energy transfer from ligands to Ln3+ metals. For clarity, the as-made Ln-CPs are named Eu-bpdc, Tb-bpdc, and Y-bpdc based on the corresponding Ln3+. Notably, Eu-bpdc, presented as an example, could be used as FL sensing material ratiometric to Fe3+ ions. The ratio of FL intensity of Eu3+ ions to bpdc2- ligands (I415/I615) showed a good linear relationship with the concentrations of Fe3+ ions. Moreover, the detection process could be visibly monitored through a change from purple to blue when Eu-bpdc was used as an FL proble. This work provides a good example for exploring visibly ratiometric sensors based on FL-CPs.

Abstract
Coordination polymers (CPs) are an assorted class of coordination complexes that are gaining attention for the safe and sustainable removal of organic dyes from wastewater discharge by either adsorption or photocatalytic degradation. Herein, three different coordination polymers with compositions [Ni(HL)(H2O)2·1.9H2O] (1), [Mn3(HL)(L)(μ3-OH)(H2O)(phen)2·2H2O] (2), and [Cd(HL)4(H2O)]·H2O (3) (H3L = 2-(3,5-dicarboxyphenyl)-6-carboxybenzimidazole; phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) have been synthesized and characterized spectroscopically and by single crystal X-ray diffraction. Single crystal X-ray diffraction results indicated that 1 forms a 2D layer-like framework, while 2 exhibits a 3-connected net with the Schläfli symbol of (44.6), and 3 displays a 3D supramolecular network in which two adjacent 2D layers are held by π···π interactions. All three compounds have been used as photocatalysts to catalyze the photodegradation of antibiotic dinitrozole (DTZ) and rhodamine B (RhB). The photocatalytic results suggested that the Mn-based CP 2 exhibited better photodecomposition of DTZ (91.1%) and RhB (95.0%) than the other two CPs in the time span of 45 min. The observed photocatalytic mechanisms have been addressed using Hirshfeld surface analyses.

Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are peculiar multimodal materials that find photocatalytic applications for the decomposition of lethal molecules present in the wastewater. In this investigation, two new d10-configuration-based MOFs, [Zn2(L)(H2O)(bbi)] (1) and [Cd2(L)(bbi)] (2) (5,5-(1,4-phenylenebis(methyleneoxy)diisophthalic acid (H2L) and 1,1'-(1,4-butanediyl)bis(imidazole) (bbi)), have been synthesized and characterized. The MOF 1 displayed a (4,6)-connected (3.43.52)(32.44.52.66.7) network topology, while 2 had a (3,10)-connected network with a Schläfli symbol of (410.511.622.72)(43)2. These MOFs have been employed as photocatalysts to photodegrade nitrophenolic compounds, especially p-nitrophenol (PNP). The photocatalysis studies reveal that 1 displayed relatively better photocatalytic performance than 2. Further, the photocatalytic efficacy of 1 has been assessed by altering the initial PNP concentration and photocatalyst dosage, which suggest that at 80 ppm PNP concentration and at its 50 mg concentration the MOF 1 can photo-decompose around 90.01% of PNP in 50 min. Further, radical scavenging experiments reveal that holes present over 1 and ·OH radicals collectively catalyze the photodecomposition of PNP. In addition, utilizing density of states (DOS) calculations and Hirshfeld surface analyses, a plausible photocatalysis mechanism for nitrophenol degradation has been postulated.

Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are currently popular porous materials with research and application value in various fields such as medicine and engineering. Aiming at the application of MOFs in photocatalysis, this paper mainly reviews the main synthesis methods of ZnMOFs and the latest research progress of Zn MOF-based photocatalysts to degrade organic pollutants in water, such as organic dyes. This nanomaterial is being used to treat wastewater and has proven to be very efficient because of its exceptionally large surface area and porous nature. The results show that Zn-MOFs are capable of high degradation of the above pollutants and over 90% of degradation was observed in publications. In addition, the reusability percentage was examined and studies showed that the Zn-MOF nanostructure has very good stability and can continue to degrade a high percentage of pollutants after several cycles. This review focuses on Zn-MOFs and their composites. First, the methods of synthesis and characterization of these compounds are given. Finally, the application of these composites in the process of photocatalytic degradation of dye pollutants such as methylene blue, methyl orange, crystal violet, rhodamine B, etc. is explained.

Abstract
A new three-dimensional lanthanide metal-organic framework (Ln-MOF), [Eu4(L)4(H2O)8]·10H2O (1, H3L = biphenyl-3'-nitro-3,4',5-tricarboxylic acid), has been constructed via solvothermal technology and its framework has been detected by the single-crystal X-ray diffraction and elemental analyses. Complex 1 with typical emission of Eu3+ ion represents dramatic luminescence quenching affect for picric acid (PA) and the linear Stern-Volmer plot was surveyed in the consistence, ranging from 0.05 to 0.15 mM (Ksv = 98,074 M- 1). Its therapeutic effect of the compound on the cerebral edema caused by cerebral hemorrhage was estimated and the mechanism was explored. Possible binding interactions have been investigated by molecular docking simulations, from which the binding interactions are identified and the carboxyl oxygens are responsible for those identified interactions.

Abstract
Owing to their molecular building blocks, yet highly crystalline nature, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) sit at the interface between molecule and material. Their diverse structures and compositions enable them to be useful materials as catalysts in heterogeneous reactions, electrical conductors in energy storage and transfer applications, chromophores in photoenabled chemical transformations, and beyond. In all cases, density functional theory (DFT) and higher-level methods for electronic structure determination provide valuable quantitative information about the electronic properties that underpin the functions of these frameworks. However, there are only two general modeling approaches in conventional electronic structure software packages: those that treat materials as extended, periodic solids, and those that treat materials as discrete molecules. Each approach has features and benefits; both have been widely employed to understand the emergent chemistry that arises from the formation of the metal-organic interface. This Review canvases these approaches to date, with emphasis placed on the application of electronic structure theory to explore reactivity and electron transfer using periodic, molecular, and embedded models. This includes (i) computational chemistry considerations such as how functional, k-grid, and other model variables are selected to enable insights into MOF properties, (ii) extended solid models that treat MOFs as materials rather than molecules, (iii) the mechanics of cluster extraction and subsequent chemistry enabled by these molecular models, (iv) catalytic studies using both solids and clusters thereof, and (v) embedded, mixed-method approaches, which simulate a fraction of the material using one level of theory and the remainder of the material using another dissimilar theoretical implementation.

Abstract
Coordination polymers are constructed from metal ions and bridging ligands, linking them into solid-state structures extending in one (1D), two (2D) or three dimensions (3D). Two- and three-dimensional coordination polymers with potential voids are often referred to as metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) or porous coordination polymers. Luminescence is an important property of coordination polymers, often playing a key role in their applications. Photophysical properties of the coordination polymers can be associated with intraligand, metal-centered, guest-centered, metal-to-ligand and ligand-to-metal electron transitions. In recent years, a rapid growth of publications devoted to luminescent or fluorescent coordination polymers can be observed. In this review the use of fluorescent ligands, namely, 4,4'-stilbenedicarboxylic acid, 1,3,4-oxadiazole, thiazole, 2,1,3-benzothiadiazole, terpyridine and carbazole derivatives, naphthalene diimides, 4,4',4''-nitrilotribenzoic acid, ruthenium(II) and iridium(III) complexes, boron-dipyrromethene (BODIPY) derivatives, porphyrins, for the construction of coordination polymers are surveyed. Applications of such coordination polymers based on their photophysical properties will be discussed. The review covers the literature published before April 2020.

Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have attracted much interest in the fields of gas separation and storage, catalysis synthesis, nonlinear optics, sensors, luminescence, magnetism, photocatalysis gradation and crystal engineering because of their diverse properties and intriguing topologies. A Cu-MOF, namely poly[[(μ2-succinato-κ2O:O'){μ2-tris[4-(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)phenyl]amine-κ2N:N'}copper(II)] dihydrate], {[Cu(C4H4O4)(C24H18N10)]·2H2O}n or {[Cu(suc)(ttpa)]·2H2O}n, (I), was synthesized by the hydrothermal method using tris[4-(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)phenyl]amine (ttpa) and succinate (suc2-), and characterized by IR, powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), luminescence, optical band gap and valence band X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (VB XPS). Cu-MOF (I) shows a twofold interpenetrating 4-coordinated three-dimensional CdSO4 topology with point symbol {65·8}. It presents good photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue (MB) and rhodamine B (RhB) under visible-light irradiation. A photocatalytic mechanism was proposed and confirmed.
