Abstract
This study investigates the immobilization mechanisms of heavy metal ions in the C-S-H phase. Synthetic C-S-H phases were prepared via the precipitation method, incorporating five different ions (Pb(II), Cd(II), Ni(II), Zn(II), and Cr(III)). Structural analysis of the obtained material was conducted using vibrational spectroscopy (both FT-IR and Raman), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction. Spectroscopic methods were primarily employed to evaluate the structural effects and polymerization degree of the resulting C-S-H phase. Morphological changes were characterized using scanning and transmission electron microscopy (SEM and TEM, respectively). Our findings reveal several mechanisms for immobilizing heavy metal cations: precipitation of insoluble compounds (particularly notable for Ni(II) and Cr(III)), replacement of Ca(II) ions within the silicate structure (evident in the crystallization of Ca(OH)2 in samples containing Cd(II), Ni(II), and Zn(II) in minimal quantities), and strong bonding of certain metals (such as Pb(II)) with the C-S-H phase structure. These insights contribute to understanding the potential applications of C-S-H phases in heavy metal immobilization.

Abstract
Abundant chitosan was rationally used for the green fabrication of cadmium oxide nanorods (CdO nanorods) owing to its environmentally benign characteristics, bioavailability, low cost, etc. However, the primary unsubstituted amino group of chitosan interacts with the surface of Cd salt at higher temperatures, resulting in CdO nanorod formation. A one-step hydrothermal technique was adopted in the presence of chitosan. Optical, structural, and morphology techniques characterized CdO nanorods. According to X-ray diffraction crystallography, CdO is well crystallized in the face-centered cubic lattice with an Fm-3m (225) space group. The AC@CdO nanoelectrode demonstrated an outstanding gravimetric capacitance of 320 F g-1 at a current density of 0.5 A g-1, nearly three-fold that of ordinary AC electrodes. The AC electrode and the AC@CdO nanoelectrode retain 90 and 93% of their initial specific capacitance after 10,000 galvanostatic charge discharge cycles. The AC@CdO nanoelectrode has a lower equivalent series resistance value than the AC electrode. Moreover, AC@CdO symmetric supercapacitor devices achieve excellent results in terms of specific energy, specific power, and capacitance retention.

Abstract
In the present work, the physical properties of alkali-earth metal and transition metal hydroxides are comprehensively investigated using the density functional theory. Here, the alkali-earth metals Ca, Mg, and transition metals Cd, Zn are considered from the II-A and II-B groups in the periodic table of elements. The first principle electronic structure calculations show that these bulk hydroxide materials are direct band gap material. Ca(OH)2 and Mg(OH)2 exhibit an insulating behavior with a very large band gap. However, Cd(OH)2 and Zn(OH)2 are found to be wide band gap semiconductors. The dielectric and optical studies reveal that these materials have a high degree of anisotropy. Hence, the light propagation in these materials behaves differently in the direction perpendicular and parallel to the optical axis, and exhibits birefringence. Therefore, these materials may be useful for optical communication. The calculated electron energy loss suggests that these materials can also be used for unwanted signal noise suppression. The wide band gap makes them useful for high-power applications. Moreover, Ca(OH)2 and Mg(OH)2 are found to be suitable for dielectric medium.

Abstract
The CdS quantum dots (QDs) were prepared by rapid, one-pot, and novel photochemical method, which used Thioglycolic acid (TGA) molecules as both stabilizer and sulfur source. The structure and morphology of the prepared CdS QDs were characterized by different analyses such as XRD, FT-IR, Raman, EDS, TEM, PL, and absorption. In this work, was used of CdS QDs as off fluorescence sensor for rapid and simple detection of lead (Pb2+) ions in water. The PL intensity of CdS QDs in the presence of lead ions decreased gradually and in the presence of 100 μM lead ions, photo emission completely quenched. The photocatalyst performance of CdS QDs was investigated by methylene blue (MB), methylene orange (MO), and rhodamine b (RB) pollutant dyes under both UV and sun lights. The obtained results showed that CdS QDs had excellent photocatalyst activity with dyes under UV light and 94.9% of MO dye, 94.4% of RB dye, and 81.2% of MB was degraded after 60 min UV irradiation. For understanding about which parameter have a key role in the photodegradation process of MO by CdS QDs under UV illumination, several radical scavengers were used, and results showed that holes have a key role in the degradation process.

Abstract
A cadmium-based metal-organic framework (Cd-MOF) is synthesized in a facile manner at ambient temperature by an easy slow diffusion process. The three-dimensional (3D) structure of Cd-MOF is authenticated by single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies and exhibits a cuboid-shaped morphology with an average edge length of ∼1.13 μm. The prepared Cd-MOF was found to be electroactive in nature, which resulted in a specific capacitance of 647 F g-1 at 4 A g-1 by maintaining a retention of ∼78% over 10,000 successive cycles in the absence of any binder. Further, to distinguish the efficiency of Cd-MOF electrodes, different electrolytes (NaOH, KOH, and LiOH) were explored, wherein NaOH revealed a higher capacitive response due to its combined effect of ionic and hydrated ionic radii. To investigate the practical applicability, an asymmetric supercapacitor (ASC) device is fabricated by employing Cd-MOF as the positive electrode and activated carbon (AC) as the negative electrode, enabling it to light a commercial light-emitting diode (LED) bulb (∼1.8 V). The as-fabricated ASC device delivers comparable energy density and power density.

Abstract
Microbial mediated synthesis of metallic nanoparticles constitutes as effective and promising approach for the development of antibacterial materials in the field of bioengineering and biomedicine. We prepared Cadmium oxide nanoaprticles (CdO NPs) utilizing Penicillium oxalicum, and cadmium acetate solution via coprecipitate method. The elemental composition and morphology of these synthesized CdO NPs were examined through X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and Energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). Furthermore, we evaluated the bactericidal potential of prepared CdO NPs using Escherichia coli (E.coli), Staphylococcus aureus (S.aureus), Bacillus cereus (B.cereus), and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa). Dimethyl sulfoxide was used as negative control while erythromycin was used as positive control. The XRD spectrum revealed cubic crystalline nanoparticles with 22.94 nm size and UV showed absorbance peak at 297 nm with 2.5 eV band gap energy. FTIR depicted O─H and carboxylic groups along with CdO stretching vibration. EDS showed the presence of organic compounds on Cd and O over NPs surface. SEM results revealed the spherical shape of the CdO NPs. The synthesized NPs exhibited highly potent bactericidal activity against selected strains and demonstrated less optical density of 0.086 after 24 hr. Owing to the significant antibacterial activity of CdO NPs, the broad application prospects of these nanoparticles CdO NPs in extensive biomedical applications is indicated.

Abstract
Novel Cadmium Oxide-Graphene Nanocomposite Grown on Mesoporous Silica have been successfully prepared using a self-assembly method under the catering of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as the surfactant template at ambient conditions. The structural and optical properties of the obtained nanocomposites were investigated by many different techniques. The results of photocatalytic measurements revealed that almost 100% of MB organic dye was removed with the presence of SiO2/CdO-graphene composite under visible light irradiation. Moreover, the initial pH also plays an important role in the photodegradation processes. On the other hand, this work opens a way to enhance the photocatalytic activity of gallic acid at ambient conditions without any further different oxidation processes. From the evolutionary aspect, SiO2/CdO-graphene composite revealed better H2 generation than that of binary photocatalyst (CdO-graphene nanocomposite). The results of characterization and photodegradation suggest that SiO2/CdO-graphene material constitutes a new photocatalyst for the degradation of organic contaminants, as well as the development of an efficient hetero-system for hydrogen production.
