Abstract
Fluorine and nitrogen form a successful partnership in organic synthesis, medicinal chemistry, and material sciences. Although fluorine-nitrogen chemistry has a long and rich history, this field has received increasing interest and made remarkable progress over the past two decades, driven by recent advancements in transition metal and organocatalysis and photochemistry. This review, emphasizing contributions from 2015 to 2023, aims to update the state of the art of the synthesis and applications of nitrogen-based organofluorine functional molecules in organic synthesis and medicinal chemistry. In dedicated sections, we first focus on fluorine-containing reagents organized according to the type of fluorine-containing groups attached to nitrogen, including N-F, N-RF, N-SRF, and N-ORF. This review also covers nitrogen-linked fluorine-containing building blocks, catalysts, pharmaceuticals, and agrochemicals, underlining these components' broad applicability and growing importance in modern chemistry.

Abstract
All four stereoisomers of 4-CF3O-proline have been synthesized through a fluorodesulfurization approach using the corresponding 4-hydroxyprolines as starting materials. The investigation of their lipophilicity characteristics and comparison with those of other 4-substituted proline analogs demonstrated a similar impact of CF3 and CF3O groups on log D.

Abstract
A photocatalyzed formal (3+2) cycloaddition has been developed to construct original polysubstituted α-SCF3 cyclopentanones in a regio- and diastereoselective manner. This building block approach leverages trifluoromethylthio alkynes and branched/linear aldehydes, as readily available reaction partners, in consecutive hydrogen atom transfers and C-C bond formations. Difluoromethylthio alkynes are also compatible substrates. Furthermore, the potential for telescoped reaction starting from alcohols instead of aldehydes was demonstrated, as well as process automatization and scale-up under continuous microflow conditions. This prompted density functional theory (DFT) calculations to support a radical-mediated cascade process.

Abstract
A new strategy for the synthesis of fluorinated anilides in the absence of metals and oxidants has been developed. This deoxyfluorination of N-arylhydroxylamines with diethylaminosulfur trifluoride (DAST) proceeded smoothly under mild conditions, and the ortho- or para-fluorinated aromatic amine products were prepared in moderate to good yields. Structurally diverse fluorinated anilides, including heterocyclic and pharmaceutically relevant molecules, can be efficiently constructed by this protocol.

Abstract
The organic superbase t-Bu-P4-catalyzed direct thiolation of trimethyl(perfluorophenyl)silanes and thiosulfonates was developed. Yields of perfluorophenylsulfides of up to 97% under catalysis of 5 mol% t-Bu-P4 were achieved. This method was shown to provide an efficient way to construct the perfluorophenyl-sulfur bond under mild metal-free reaction conditions.

Abstract
We report a novel, inexpensive double thiolation reagent that sulfurizes a broad range of imidazo[1,2-α]pyridines under mild conditions. Importantly, diethylaminosulfur trifluoride, as a common nucleophilic fluorinating reagent, was utilized as a novel thiolation reagent.

Abstract
A new protocol for preparation of acyl fluorides was developed by recognizing activated ketones as starting materials. The method provides a different scope compared with previously reported methods that employ carboxylic acids as substrates. A working hypothesis of pull-and-push-driven fluorinative C-C bond cleavage was successfully demonstrated by the simple addition of diethylaminosulfur trifluoride (DAST) derivatives to α-oximinoketones. The designed reaction system led to a highly efficient and chemoselective reaction. The wide availability of the ketones allowed for a range of synthetically useful aryloyl and aliphatic acyl fluorides including those containing chiral skeletons. The method is mild, fast, scalable, and potentially one-pot operative.
