Abstract
This manuscript reports a novel method for the direct iodination of the C-4 pyrazole ring generated in situ by the reaction of 1,1,3,3-tetramethoxypropane and various hydrazines. In this approach, potassium iodate (KIO3) is used as the iodinating agent and (PhSe)2 is used as catalysts under acidic conditions. This protocol provides a convenient method for the efficient synthesis of 4-iodo-1-aryl-1H-pyrazoles, valuable intermediates for several different coupling reactions.

Abstract
A novel visible-light-induced radical cascade bromocyclization of N-arylacrylamides has been accomplished. This reaction overcomes the overbromination at the benzene rings suffered in traditional electrophilic reactions, thus enabling the first highly chemoselective synthesis of valuable 3-bromomethyloxindoles. The combination of pyridine and anhydrous medium is identified as the key factor for the high chemoselectivity in the current photoreaction system, which might work by suppressing the in situ generation of low-concentration Br2 from N-bromosuccinimide. Moreover, the mild reaction conditions ensure the generation of a wide range of the new desired products with excellent functional group tolerance.

Abstract
An electrophilic spirocyclization of N-benzylacrylamides with N-halosuccinimides (NXS) as the halogenating reagents has been developed. This reaction is carried out at room temperature under simple conditions without relying on metal reagents, photochemistry, or electrochemistry, providing a fast and efficient route to synthesize a wide variety of 4-halomethyl-2-azaspiro[4.5]decanes with satisfactory yields. The approach is further highlighted through gram-scale synthesis and diverse transformations of the spiro products.

Abstract
A simple and efficient method for the regioselective selenation of electron-rich arenes by employing non-metal inorganic iodine pentoxide (I2O5) as a reaction promoter under ambient conditions has been developed. The present protocol showed broad functional group tolerance and easy-to-operate and time-economical features. Additionally, this protocol also allows access to 3-seleno and 3-thiocyanoindoles by the use of readily available selenocyanate and thiocyanate salts. A mechanistic study indicated that the transformation operated through selenenyl iodide-induced electrophilic substitution processes.
