Abstract
Chemodivergent tandem radical cyclization offers exciting possibilities for the synthesis of structurally diverse cyclic compounds. Herein, we revealed a chemodivergent tandem cyclization of alkene-substituted quinazolinones under metal- and base-free conditions, this transformation is initiated by alkyl radicals produced from oxidant-induced α-C(sp3 )-H functionalization of alkyl nitriles or esters. The reaction resulted in the selective synthesis of a series of mono- and di-alkylated ring-fused quinazolinones by modulating the loading of oxidant, reaction temperature, and reaction time. Mechanistic investigations show that the mono-alkylated ring-fused quinazolinones is constructed by the key process of 1,2-hydrogen shift, whereas the di-alkylated ring-fused quinazolinones is mainly achieved through crucial steps of resonance and proton transfer. This protocol is the first example of remote second alkylation on the aromatic ring via α-C(sp3 )-H functionalization and difunctionalization achieved by association of two unsaturated bonds in radical cyclization.

Abstract
Employing N-fluorobenzenesulfonimide (NFSI) as a nitrogen-centered radical (NCR) precursor, an intermolecular C(sp2)-N coupling on heteroarenes or substituted benzenes with remote activated aniline derivatives via copper catalyzed N-N radical relay strategy at room temperature is developed. Good to excellent yields are acquired, and no ligand or additive is required. Reaction scope investigation and preliminary mechanistic studies demonstrate that the remote activating strategy and delicate control on the reactivities of active NCR species are essential to guarantee satisfactory chemo- and site-selectivity.

Abstract
C-N bonds are pervasive throughout organic-based materials, natural products, pharmaceutical compounds, and agricultural chemicals. Considering the widespread importance of C-N bonds, the development of greener and more convenient ways to form C-N bonds, especially in late-stage synthesis, has become one of the hottest research goals in synthetic chemistry. Copper-catalyzed radical reactions involving N-centered radicals have emerged as a sustainable and promising approach to build C-N bonds. As a chemically popular and diverse radical species, N-centered radicals have been used for all kinds of reactions for C-N bond formation by taking advantage of their inherently incredible reactive flexibility. Copper is also the most abundant and economic catalyst with the most relevant activity for facilitating the synthesis of valuable compounds. Therefore, the aim of the present Review was to illustrate recent and significant advances in C-N bond formation methods and to understand the unique advantages of copper catalysis in the generation of N-centered radicals since 2016. To provide an ease of understanding for the readers, this Review was organized based on the types of nitrogen sources (amines, amides, sulfonamides, oximes, hydrazones, azides, and tert-butyl nitrite).

Abstract
Using K2S2O8, an efficient and metal-free site-selective C–H cyanoalkylation of 8-aminoquinoline and aniline-derived amides with AIBN (azobisisobutyronitrile) was developed. Without any catalyst, various substrates and functional groups were compatible to afford corresponding products in moderate to high yields. A mechanism study displayed that a radical–radical coupling process was involved via the N-centered radical generation and delocalization of aryl amides. An efficient metal-free cyanoalkylation of 8-aminoquinoline and aniline-derived amides was achieved in the presence of K2S2O8. The method showed good substrate tolerance and also suitable for bromination and dimerization reactions.![]()

Abstract
The direct incorporation of a trifluoromethyl group on an aromatic ring using a radical pathway has been extensively investigated. However, the direct highly para-selective C-H trifluoromethylation of a class of arenes has not been achieved. In this study, we report a light-promoted 4,5-dichlorofluorescein (DCFS)-enabled para-selective C-H trifluoromethylation of arylcarbamates using Langlois reagent. The preliminary mechanistic study revealed that the activated organic photocatalyst coordinated with the arylcarbamate led to para-selective C-H trifluoromethylation. Ten-gram scale reaction performs well highlighting the synthetic importance of this new protocol.

Abstract
A one-pot and step economic reaction involving Rh(III)-catalyzed C-H thiolation and relay Cu(II)-catalyzed C-N amination of acetanilide and 2-bromothiophenol is reported here, with several valuable phenothiazine products obtained. This synthesis protocol proceeds from easily starting materials, demonstrating high atom economy, broad substrate scope, and good yield. Furthermore, the directing group can be easily eliminated, and chlorpromazine is provided in a large scale; thus this synthesis protocol could be utilized to construct phenothiazine scaffolds.

Abstract
Here we report a detailed theoretical study of the mechanism of Cu+-catalyzed domino rearrangement of 2-methyl-N-methoxyaniline with a deep understanding of the unique motivation and selectivity of these migrations. We find that the Cu+ catalyst accelerates the [1,3]-methoxy migration to the methyl-bound ortho position of umpolung phenyl. The following domino transfer prefers methyl [1,2]-migration, and the rate-determining step for the whole reaction is the transfer of a proton from the phenyl ring to amine to finish the catalytic cycle.

Abstract
Site selectivity and stereocontrol remain major challenges in C-H bond functionalization chemistry, especially in linear aliphatic saturated hydrocarbon scaffolds. We report the highly enantioselective and site-selective catalytic borylation of remote C(sp3)-H bonds γ to the carbonyl group in aliphatic secondary and tertiary amides and esters. A chiral C-H activation catalyst was modularly assembled from an iridium center, a chiral monophosphite ligand, an achiral urea-pyridine receptor ligand, and pinacolatoboryl groups. Quantum chemical calculations support an enzyme-like structural cavity formed by the catalyst components, which bind the substrate through multiple noncovalent interactions. Versatile synthetic utility of the enantioenriched γ-borylcarboxylic acid derivatives was demonstrated.
