Recent advance on microextraction sampling technologies for bioanalysis

The contents of target substances in biological samples are usually at low concentration levels, and the matrix of biological samples is usually complex. Sample preparation is considered a very critical step in bioanalysis. At present, the utilization of microextraction sampling technology has gained considerable prevalence in the realm of biological analysis. The key developments in this field focus on the efficient microextraction media and the miniaturization and automation of adaptable sample preparation methods currently. In this review, the recent progress on the microextraction sampling technologies for bioanalysis has been introduced from point of view of the preparation of microextraction media and the microextraction sampling strategies. The advance on the microextraction media was reviewed in detail, mainly including the aptamer-functionalized materials, molecularly imprinted polymers, carbon-based materials, metal-organic frameworks, covalent organic frameworks, etc. The advance on the microextraction sampling technologies was summarized mainly based on in-vivo sampling, in-vitro sampling and microdialysis technologies. Moreover, the current challenges and perspective on the future trends of microextraction sampling technologies for bioanalysis were briefly discussed.

Ratiometric electrochemical immunosensor for simultaneous detection of C-myc and Bcl-2 based on multi-role alloy composites

A ratiometric electrochemical immunosensor is proposed for simultaneous detection of cellular-myelocytomatosis oncoprotein (C-myc) and B-cell lymphoma 2 (Bcl-2) via the potential-resolved strategy. It relied on multi-role co-loaded alloy composites (CLACs) and poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT)-graphene oxide (GO)-multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) (PGM) modified electrodes. CLACs with good catalytic and enzyme-like properties were synthesized in one step by loading tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) or methylene blue (MB) into Pt-Pd alloy and used as label materials. After immunological reactions, CLACs showed distinguishable dual differential pulse voltammetry signals at  - 0.26 V and 0.38 V, corresponding to C-myc and Bcl-2, and the PGM had an electrochemical signal at 1.2 V, which could be used as a reference signal to construct a ratiometric sensor. CLACs had a satisfactory synergistic effect with the PGM, and eventually achieved quadruple signal amplification. Thus, benefiting from multiple magnification and ratiometric self-calibration functions, sensitive detections of C-myc and Bcl-2 were achieved, with detection limits as low as 0.5 and 2.5 pg mL-1, respectively. Additionally, when the designed method was applied to blood samples from lymphoma patients, results consistent with the ELISA kit were obtained. This will open avenues for constructing multiple protein detection sensors.

Research progress of the combination of COFs materials with food safety detection

Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) have received lots of attention due to their multiple advantages such as high specific surface area, controlled pore size, and excellent stability. When detecting food contaminants, the matrix effect brought by complex food samples can significantly affect the accuracy of the results. How to attenuate matrix effect has always been a major challenge. Utilizing the advantages of COFs and applying them to detect food contaminants is currently a key research direction. The aim of this work is to provide a systematic summary of sample pretreatment techniques and detection techniques combined with COFs, which include almost all current techniques combined with COFs. In addition, the principles of combining COFs with different techniques are explained. Finally, the research foci and development direction of COFs in food contaminant detection are discussed. This is an important reference for the future development of food safety and the design of COFs.
