5G Technology in Healthcare and Wearable Devices: A Review

Wearable devices with 5G technology are currently more ingrained in our daily lives, and they will now be a part of our bodies too. The requirement for personal health monitoring and preventive disease is increasing due to the predictable dramatic increase in the number of aging people. Technologies with 5G in wearables and healthcare can intensely reduce the cost of diagnosing and preventing diseases and saving patient lives. This paper reviewed the benefits of 5G technologies, which are implemented in healthcare and wearable devices such as patient health monitoring using 5G, continuous monitoring of chronic diseases using 5G, management of preventing infectious diseases using 5G, robotic surgery using 5G, and 5G with future of wearables. It has the potential to have a direct effect on clinical decision making. This technology could improve patient rehabilitation outside of hospitals and monitor human physical activity continuously. This paper draws the conclusion that the widespread adoption of 5G technology by healthcare systems enables sick people to access specialists who would be unavailable and receive correct care more conveniently.

Exploring the Potential of Big Data Analytics in Urban Epidemiology Control: A Comprehensive Study Using CiteSpace

In recent years, there has been a growing amount of discussion on the use of big data to prevent and treat pandemics. The current research aimed to use CiteSpace (CS) visual analysis to uncover research and development trends, to help academics decide on future research and to create a framework for enterprises and organizations in order to plan for the growth of big data-based epidemic control. First, a total of 202 original papers were retrieved from Web of Science (WOS) using a complete list and analyzed using CS scientometric software. The CS parameters included the date range (from 2011 to 2022, a 1-year slice for co-authorship as well as for the co-accordance assessment), visualization (to show the fully integrated networks), specific selection criteria (the top 20 percent), node form (author, institution, region, reference cited, referred author, journal, and keywords), and pruning (pathfinder, slicing network). Lastly, the correlation of data was explored and the findings of the visualization analysis of big data pandemic control research were presented. According to the findings, "COVID-19 infection" was the hottest cluster with 31 references in 2020, while "Internet of things (IoT) platform and unified health algorithm" was the emerging research topic with 15 citations. "Influenza, internet, China, human mobility, and province" were the emerging keywords in the year 2021-2022 with strength of 1.61 to 1.2. The Chinese Academy of Sciences was the top institution, which collaborated with 15 other organizations. Qadri and Wilson were the top authors in this field. The Lancet journal accepted the most papers in this field, while the United States, China, and Europe accounted for the bulk of articles in this research. The research showed how big data may help us to better understand and control pandemics.

Conceptual Design of the "Private Car" Self-Isolation Ecosystem for the 2019-nCoV Infection

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak, confirmed and suspected cases of the disease have been increasing rapidly. The isolation of cases is one of the most effective methods for the control and containment of COVID-19 and has been rapidly popularized. Problems with isolation have gradually emerged, such as the inadequate allocation of isolation resources and the failure to properly resettle many of the suspected cases of the 2019-nCoV infection. In this paper, a self-isolation ecosystem of a rapid-deploying negative-pressurized "private car" is proposed for housing patients with 2019-nCoV infection, which could be lightweight, moderately sized and transparent to enable group supervision and communication. This "private car" isolation method aims to achieve self-isolation of patients and essentially solves the problem of where and how to isolate suspected cases while saving isolation resources and preventing the large-scale transmission of COVID-19.

New Opportunities, Challenges, and Applications of Edge-AI for Connected Healthcare in Internet of Medical Things for Smart Cities

Revolution in healthcare can be experienced with the advancement of smart sensorial things, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning (DL), Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), and edge analytics with the integration of cloud computing. Connected healthcare is receiving extraordinary contemplation from the industry, government, and the healthcare communities. In this study, several studies published in the last 6 years, from 2016 to 2021, have been selected. The selection process is represented through the Prisma flow chart. It has been identified that these increasing challenges of healthcare can be overcome by the implication of AI, ML, DL, Edge AI, IoMT, 6G, and cloud computing. Still, limited areas have implemented these latest advancements and also experienced improvements in the outcomes. These implications have shown successful results not only in resolving the issues from the perspective of the patient but also from the perspective of healthcare professionals. It has been recommended that the different models that have been proposed in several studies must be validated further and implemented in different domains, to validate the effectiveness of these models and to ensure that these models can be implemented in several regions effectively.
