Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS As survival rates in childhood cancer progress significantly, health outcomes in adulthood are pivotal to quality of life (QoL). Female patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiation for childhood cancer may experience adverse effects such as gonadotoxicity-related ovarian insufficiency. Ovarian tissue cryopreservation (OTC) is well studied in adults, but has only recently started to be explored in an effort to preserve fertility in young patients with childhood cancer. This systematic review aims to critically highlight contemporary outcomes of cryopreservation in female pediatric cancer patients. METHODS A systematic search was conducted in PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science databases to identify English-language full text articles and abstracts published between 2004 and 2022 describing cryopreservation among female children (0-21 years old) with cancer. Abstracts and full-text articles were screened for inclusion. Subsequently, data from eligible studies was extracted and analyzed. Descriptive statistics were utilized to estimate overall outcomes of cryopreservation. RESULTS Of 104 abstracts and 34 full-text articles, 12 studies were included. Data was collected from 7 world countries and involved some 612 pediatric and adolescent patients with malignant disease. Most common cancers included hematological malignant disease (81%), CNS nervous system malignant tumors (56%), and sarcomas (39%). Of the 6 studies with full reporting, OTC was undertaken in 501 patients, and 5.9% (30/501) of these patients underwent ovarian tissue transplantation (OTT). After OTT, 27 patients desired pregnancy and 33% (9/27) became pregnant. Six of these 9 patients (67%) had live births. CONCLUSIONS Preliminary analysis showed that OTC has been successfully performed but not yet studied thoroughly in pediatric cancer patients in a longitudinal manner. This study has further shown that cryopreservation outcomes are mainly reported among adult patients living in high income countries, demonstrating a crucial need for long-term outcome studies focused on pediatric and prepuberal OTC, subsequent OTT, and potential pregnancy. This work is considered critical to aid standardize recommendations of fertility preservation in childhood cancer patients and to better inform the efficacy of these procedures to benefit patients in world nations of all fiscal income levels. Abstract
This service evaluation aimed to appraise the delivery of a fertility preservation service for women with cancer which was established in 2005 as part of an Assisted Conception Unit. First, the ACU-database was interrogated between 08/2005 and 01/2017; revealing 174 women received referrals over the 12-year period with a steady referral increase each year. Demographic analyses revealed factors, such as being partnered, to be strong indicators of whether women would seek FP or not. To improve service provision, women who had consented to be contacted for audit, administrative and research purposes, received questionnaires to ascertain their perspectives on the FP decision-making process, their outcomes and ACU after-care. The majority perceived their experience as excellent due to the care they received from ACU staff, speed and efficiency in service delivery. The increasing number of referrals since 2005 is reassuring. However, this audit also highlighted shortcomings of the service, such as limited awareness of the fertility counselling service and lack of after-care.IMPACT STATEMENTWhat is already known on this subject? There has been an increase in women diagnosed with cancer undergoing fertility preservation (FP) before starting potential gonadotoxic treatment. Offering FP to these women is essential as the ability to have future children is often perceived as equally as important as survivorship, and a source of hope for the future.What do the results of this study add? This study presents a service evaluation, across a 12-year period, of delivering FP services to women with cancer in one UK Assisted Conception Unit (ACU). Women's experiences of the service were evaluated to enhance service delivery and make recommendations for clinical practice.What are the implications of these findings for clinical practice and/or future research? The current service evaluation demonstrated increased rates of FP referral over a 12-year period for women with cancer. While this increasing number is reassuring and reflecting increased awareness among professionals and patients; shortcomings in the care pathway were also found: women reported limited opportunity to see fertility counsellors and desired better after care. This information may also be of benefit to other ACUs seeking to enhance and improve service provision in the care of women with cancer, contemplating fertility preservation.

Abstract
Improvements in cancer therapy have enabled further insight into the long-term effects of treatment, including the highly prevalent gonadal failure. The focus of treatment has been shifted to the preservation of fertility, which may be achieved by preventing ovarian toxicity. To this end, new molecular-targeted agents, including monoclonal antibodies, have been developed and used in a standard procedure for managing different cancers. However, the prolonged antitumor activity of these drugs may cause the emergence of new toxic effects. The aim of the present review was to discuss the leading toxic effect of the anti-angiogenic agent bevacizumab on ovarian function in female patients of reproductive age, which may be observed and expected during in clinical practice. The majority of bevacizumab-induced side effects are expected to be transient and eliminated within the anticipated drug clearance time frame; however, fundamental investigations on these effects are required for generating more evidence-based practice guidelines.

Abstract
PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of self-esteem and social support on quality of life (QoL) in stage I and II cervical cancer survivors. METHOD The sample consisted of 110 participants who had been diagnosed with stage I-II cervical cancer and had completed their treatment 5 years or more before data collection. Each participant completed four structured questionnaires: a demographic-disease survey, the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, Medical Outcomes Study Social Support Survey, and European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire 30. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent sample t-test, one-way ANOVA, and hierarchical multiple linear regression analyses. RESULTS The participants' mean age was 60.74 ± 10.69 years. Better QoL was significantly associated with younger age, higher self-esteem, and stronger social support; in addition, social support buffered the effect of self-esteem on global QoL. Together, five variables (age, time since treatment, self-esteem, social support, and the interaction term of self-esteem and social support) explained 36% of the variance in global QoL, with self-esteem being the strongest predictor. CONCLUSIONS The results of this study advance current knowledge of QoL in cervical cancer survivors by demonstrating that survivors with low self-esteem and social support tend to have lower QoL than those with low self-esteem but high social support. Health professionals should help survivors seek support and provide appropriate strategies to expand their social networks and enhance their self-esteem to improve their global QoL after cervical cancer.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Since the original licensing of human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccination for women, evidence is accumulating of its effectiveness in preventing HPV-related conditions in men, and universal vaccination (vaccinating men and women) is now recommended in some countries. Several models of the cost-effectiveness of universal HPV vaccination have been published, but results have been mixed. This article assesses the extent to which economic studies have captured the range of values associated with universal HPV vaccination, and how this influences estimates of its cost-effectiveness. METHODS Eight published economic evaluations of universal HPV vaccination were reviewed to identify which of the values associated with universal HPV vaccination were included in each analysis. RESULTS Studies of the cost-effectiveness of universal HPV vaccination capture only a fraction of the values generated. Most studies focused on impacts on health and health system cost, and only captured these partially. A range of values is excluded from most studies, including impacts on productivity, patient time and costs, carers and family costs, and broader social values such as the right to access treatment. Further, those studies that attempted to capture these values only did so partially. DISCUSSION Decisions to invest in universal HPV vaccination need to be based on a complete assessment of the value that it generates. This is not provided by existing economic evaluations. Further work is required to understand this value. First, research is required to understand how HPV-related health outcomes impact on society including, for instance, their impact on productivity. Second, consideration should be given to alternative approaches to capture this broader set of values in a manner useful to decisions-makers, such as multi-criteria decision analysis.

Abstract
Given the excellent survival rate of children and teenagers treated for cancer, careful should be given in order to minimize long-term late effects of treatments and to improve quality of life. In this regard, fertility preservation is particularly important. Age, sex and concomitant therapies have an impact on the level of risk of hypofertility, with a stronger risk for chemotherapeutic regimens including alkylating agents, and gonads or hypothalamo-pituitary axis radiotherapy. Assessment of gonadotoxic impact of treatment strategy and fertility preservation techniques are crucial for limiting late effects. The objective of this literature review is to develop guidance for pediatric oncologists and hematologists relative to fertility preservation methods, in children and teenagers receiving gonadotoxic treatment. Specific follow-up after treatment is also proposed.

Abstract
The aim of this review is to provide current knowledge on oocyte cryopreservation, with special emphasis on vitrification as a means to preserve fertility in different indications. Major advancements achieved in the past few years in the cryolaboratory have facilitated major changes in our practice. Areas such as fertility preservation for social or oncologic reasons, the possibility to create oocyte banks for egg donation programs, the opportunity to avoid ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, or to accumulate oocytes in low-yield patients, or even to offer treatment segmentation by stimulating the ovaries, vitrifying, and then transferring in a natural cycle are some of the options that are now available with the development of cryopreservation. We present general experience from our group and others on fertility preservation for age-related fertility decline as well as in oncologic patients, confirming that oocyte vitrification is a standardized, simple, reproducible, and efficient option.

Abstract
Childhood cancer treatments can cause female reproductive late effects. Radiation to the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis is associated with altered menarche, miscarriage, and implantation failure. Patients who receive chemotherapy and/or ovarian radiation are at risk of premature ovarian failure; the risk increases with increasing radiation dose, alkylating agent score, combination therapy, and older age at treatment. Ovarian reserve may be assessed using antimullerian hormone assay and ultrasound measurements of ovarian volume and antral follicle count; however, their efficacy is poorly established in this cohort. Fertility preservation options including cryopreservation, oophoropexy, and gonadotropin-releasing hormone analogues may be initiated prior to treatment, although most are still considered experimental. Uterine radiation has been linked to pregnancy complications including miscarriage, premature delivery, stillbirth, low-birth-weight and small-for-gestational-age infants. This paper summarises the literature on female reproductive late effects. The information should facilitate counseling and management of female survivors throughout their reproductive lives.

Abstract
As cancer survival rates continue to improve, many young adults and children will face infertility after successful treatment of their malignant diseases. Fertility is now recognized as a critical component of quality-of-life for cancer survivors and fertility preservation is an emerging discipline that addresses the need for improving cancer survivors' options to have children later in life. Fertility preservation by established methods is often possible in adult female and male cancer patients before starting their gonadotoxic treatments. In prepubertal children, options are still experimental and most challenging. Embryos, oocytes, sperm, or gonadal tissue (ovarian and testicular) can be cryopreserved and stored at subzero temperatures until the time when the patients are disease-free and wish to start a family. As fertility preservation choices include both established and experimental techniques, a highly individualized approach is required in the management of those patients looking for fertility preservation options.

Abstract
There are several methods of fertility preservation available for female patients facing infertility following gonadotoxic treatment of cancer or systemic disease. Embryos, oocytes or ovarian tissue can be cryopreserved and stored until the time when the patient is cured of her main disease and is expecting parenthood. The individual's choice depends on the nature and stage of the main disease, expected treatment, their condition, and age and existence of the partner. It is important to inform all such women about the options, and together with them, choose the most appropriate ones. It is often possible to save ovarian tissue even though the first chemotherapy courses have been undergone, but many more follicles can be stored before cancer treatment.

Abstract
This review aims to clarify the scope and clinical importance of psychosomatic approaches to obstetrics, gynaecology and andrology. This gradually expanding sub-specialty covers a wide domain of complex disease conditions that can be managed more effectively if the various biological, psychological and social aspects are recognised at the start and concurrent treatment initiated. The current need to practise biopsychosocial management of disease conditions is highlighted along with a description of what this would involve. The nine-field psychosomatic approach, which can be applied to everyday clinical encounters, has been illustrated. Clinical applications of the psychosomatic approach are discussed for various conditions including chronic pelvic pain, eating disorders, tokophobia, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, menstrual disorders, infertility, bereavement and testicular cancer. Cultural considerations and the need for further research are also briefly discussed.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Oocyte cryopreservation is a useful tool for preserving the fertility of cancer patients at risk of losing ovarian function due to undergoing potentially sterilising therapies. Results obtained with different cryopreservation protocols have been disappointing, particularly those obtained with slow cooling procedures. The efficacy of vitrification as an application in clinical practice has recently been demonstrated. The aim of this study is to report results obtained with the Cryotop method of oocyte vitrification in a population of healthy women and to point out its potential usefulness for fertility preservation in oncological patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS The study population consisting of non-oncological patients included 47 oocyte donors and 57 recipients undergoing an oocyte donation cycle of assisted reproductive technology (ART). A total of 693 mature metaphase II oocytes were collected following ovarian stimulation using long protocol down-regulation plus gonadotropin administration. Vitrification was carried out by means of the Cryotop method. Oocytes were donated to a compatible recipient after endometrial preparation. RESULTS Of the 693 oocytes, 666 (96.1%) survived. A total of 487 (73.1%) were fertilised successfully. One hundred and seventeen embryos were transferred to 57 recipients. Pregnancy rate per transfer and implantation rates were 63.2% and 38.5% respectively. Twenty-eight healthy babies were later born. CONCLUSIONS Oocyte cryo-banking by means of the Cryotop vitrification method represents a viable option for healthy women, producing excellent survival rates and a clinical outcome similar to that obtained with fresh oocytes. This approach could potentially be used in cancer patients who want to safeguard their fertility. Cancer patients could potentially benefit from this approach by storing their oocytes before the onset of the oncological therapy.

Abstract
Improvements in the success of cancer treatments have resulted in increased awareness of the long-term effects of treatment, of which gonadal failure is the most significant. Thus, preservation of fertility potential has become a major goal and could be realized by preventing ovarian toxicity or by cryopreservation of reproductive cells/tissues. This review aimed to critically discuss the current protocols for the management of chemotherapy-inducced/radiotherapy-induced premature ovarian failure (POF). A medical approach using the gonadotropin-releasing hormone analog (GnRHa) may act to protect the gonads during radiation and/or chemotherapy by preferentially steering cells into cell cycle arrest with a decline in responsibility to the chemotherapeutic agents. Ovarian protection by GnRHa cotreatment against chemotherapy can enable the preservation of future fertility in survivors and prevent the bone demineralization and osteoporosis associated with hypestrogenism and POF. In vitro fertilization of retrieved oocytes could enable embryo freezing in some patients. Embryo cryopreservation is considered standard practice and widely available, but may seldom be used because of a lack of a male partner, the need to postpone cancer therapy for a few weeks and the possibility that an estrogen rise may be undesirable in sensitive cancer patients. Improvement in oocyte cryopreservation may offer additional possibilities; the prolonged culture of primordial and primary follicles in vitro is still unfeasible. Currently, the cryopreservation of ovarian cortex, which hosts thousands of immature follicles, is an investigational method, but has the advantage of requiring neither a sperm donor nor ovarian stimulation. Fertility preservation is often possible in women undergoing cancer treatment. To preserve the full range of options, fertility preservation procedures should be considered as early as possible during therapy planning. (Reprod Med Biol 2008; 7: 17-27).
