Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the feasibility of using the Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) to assess the nutrition status of patients with chronic wounds receiving care in an outpatient wound clinic. METHODS The PG-SGA was administered to a single cohort convenience sample of adults with chronic wounds who presented to an outpatient wound clinic. The authors performed univariate descriptive analyses and calculated interrater reliability. RESULTS Nutrition assessments were completed with 15 clinic patients. Patients required an average of 6.5 minutes (range, 3.5-10 minutes) to complete their component of the PG-SGA, exceeding the target goal of 5 minutes or fewer. Dietitians required an average of 2 minutes per patient to complete the professional component of the PG-SGA (physical examination). The nutrition assessment process was rated highly favorable. Resources to conduct the study at the site were available 100% of the time. CONCLUSIONS The PG-SGA demonstrates promise for use in the chronic wound population and could be incorporated into clinical care in settings equipped with appropriate and adequate resources. The complexities of workforce stability and resource availability, in addition to the ongoing need to be responsive to patient challenges, must be acknowledged in the planning of future studies.

Abstract
Nutrition therapy aims to prevent weight loss and its health consequences in patients with cancer. The aim of this study was to assess Greek patients' adherence to the ESPEN guidelines for oncology patients and its prospective effect on their body weight (BW) and nutritional status. In total, 152 patients with cancer were recruited from the Attikon University Hospital, Greece, and provided data in 2019 (baseline) and 2020 (follow-up) (drop-out rate = 28.3%). Nutritional status was assessed with the PG-SGA questionnaire. Patients were categorized based on whether they adhered at least to the minimum ESPEN-recommended intakes of energy (≥25 kcal/kg/day) or protein (≥1.0 g/kg/day) or not. On average, patients did not adhere to ESPEN guidelines for energy and protein intake. Most patients meeting the minimum recommendations had an improvement of their nutritional status at follow-up and increased their BW compared to those not meeting them. All patients with head, neck, and spinal cancer who met the minimum recommendations for energy intake improved their nutritional status at follow-up. This study showed that consuming at least the minimum amounts of protein and energy recommended by ESPEN may prevent from weight loss and improve nutritional status; however, the exact amounts need to be personalized.

Abstract
Cancer patients are at risk of malnutrition, which influences their functional status, mental health (MH), and quality of life (QoL). This study aimed to examine the associations between nutritional status, functional capacity, and aspects of QoL in cancer patients, as well as the potential mediating role of depression and anxiety in these associations. Patients with various types of cancer (n = 152) were recruited from the Attikon University Hospital, Greece. Validated questionnaires were used to assess nutritional status (PG-SGA), QoL (SF-36 and EQ-5D-3L), functional capacity (ECOG), depression, and anxiety (HADS and BEDS). Handgrip strength (HGS) was also measured. Poor nutritional status was inversely associated with functional capacity, QoL, depression, and anxiety, after adjusting for confounding factors (all P ≤ 0.05). Mediation analysis indicated a significant indirect effect of nutritional status on various parameters of functional capacity and QoL through depression and anxiety, after adjusting for age and sex. Mediated proportion ranged from 26.3-34% to 23.1-82.8% for functional capacity and QoL, respectively. A significant proportion of the effect of nutritional status on QoL and functional capacity can be partly attributed to psychological effects, highlighting the significance of integrating all aforementioned aspects in the nutritional intervention for cancer patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Patients with cancer frequently present with disease-related malnutrition and functional decline. The scored Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA©) is a malnutrition screening and assessment tool commonly used in patients with cancer. The aim of the current study was to translate and culturally adapt the original English PG-SGA for the Greek setting, including assessment of comprehensibility, difficulty and content validity in patients and healthcare professionals. METHODS Our study was conducted according to the ten steps of the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) Principles of Good Practice for Translation and Cultural Adaptation. Comprehensibility and difficulty of the Greek translation were assessed in 100 patients and 100 healthcare professionals (HCPs) from Greece. Content validity of the translation was assessed among HCPs. Item and scale indices were calculated for comprehensibility (I-CI; S-CI), difficulty (I-DI; S-DI), and content validity (I-CVI; S-CVI). RESULTS Patient perceived comprehensibility and difficulty of the PG-SGA were considered to be excellent (S-CI = 0.97, S-DI = 0.97). HCPs perceived content validity for the patient component was also excellent (S-CVI = 0.95). The perceived content validity, comprehensibility and difficulty for the professional component of the PG-SGA, as perceived by the HCPs, was excellent (S-CVI = 0.94, S-CI = 0.94, S-DI = 0.90), with the physical exam being perceived as most difficult (I-DI = 0.78-0.92). CONCLUSIONS Our study resulted in the successful translation and cross-cultural adaptation of the original English PG-SGA for the Greek setting. The Greek language version of the PG-SGA is characterized by high comprehensibility, low difficulty, and is considered relevant for use in Greece.

Abstract
Background The use of malnutrition outcome measures (OM) by registered dietitians (RD) with inpatients in hospitals has increased promoting the achievement of nutritional care goals and supporting decision-making for the allocation of nutritional care resources in hospitals. There are 3 commonly used OMs: Subjective Global Assessment (SGA), Patient Generated-Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) and Mini Nutritional Assessment (MNA). The purpose of this current study was to systematically review the evidence of the clinical measurement properties of malnutrition assessment tools for use with patients admitted in hospitals. Methods MEDLINE, Cinahl, EMBASE, and PubMed were searched for articles published between 2000 and 2019. Research articles were selected if they established reliability, validity, and responsiveness to change properties of the SGA, PG-SGA and MNA tools, were written in English, and used any of these OMs as an outcome measure. Abstracts were not considered. The risk of bias within studies was assessed using the Quality Appraisal for Clinical Measurement Study (QA-CMS). Results Five hundred five studies were identified, of which 34 articles were included in the final review: SGA (n = 8), PG-SGA (n = 13), and MNA (n = 13). Of the 34 studies, 8 had a quality score greater than 75%; 23 had a quality score of 40–75% and 3 studies had a quality score of less than 40%. PG-SGA was found to have excellentdiagnostic accuracy (ROC: 0.92–0.975; Sensitivity: 88.6–98%; Specificity: 82–100%), sufficient internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha: 0.722–0.73), and strong test-retest reliability (r = 0.866). There was insufficient evidence to suggest adequate diagnostic accuracy and good inter-rater reliability for SGA. Only one study examined the minimum detectable change of MNA (MDC = 2.1). Conclusions The evidence of validity for the existing malnutrition assessment tools supports the use of these tools, but more studies with sound methodological quality are needed to assess the responsiveness of these OMs to detect the change in nutritional status.

Abstract
Disease-related malnutrition (DRM) is a frequent clinical problem, characterized by loss of lean body mass and decreased function, including muscle function and immunocompetence. In DRM, nutritional intervention is necessary, but it has not consistently been shown to be sufficient. Other factors, for example, physical activity and hormonal or metabolic influencers of the internal milieu, are also important in the treatment of DRM. A prerequisite for successful treatment of DRM is the positive balance between anabolism and catabolism. The aim of this review was to approach DRM using this paradigm of anabolic competence, for conceptual and practical reasons. Anabolic competence is defined as "that state which optimally supports protein synthesis and lean body mass, global aspects of muscle and organ function, and immune response." Anabolic competence and interdisciplinary, multimodality interventions create a practical foundation to approach DRM in a proactive comprehensive way. Here, we describe the paradigm of anabolic competence, and its operationalization by measuring factors related to anabolic competence and suited for clinical management of patients with DRM.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE Traditional nutrition evaluations not only require the use of numerous tables and lists to provide sufficient recommendations for patients' diets but are also very time-consuming due to cross-referencing and calculations. METHODS To personalize patient assessments, this study implemented a Clinical Nutritional Information System (CNIS) to help hospital dietitians perform their daily work more effectively in terms of time management and paper work. The CNIS mainly targets in-patients who require cancer-nutrition counselling. The development of the CNIS occurred in three phases. Phase 1 included system design and implementation based on the Nutrition Care Process and Model (NCPM) and the Patient Nutrition Care Process. Phase 2 involved a survey to characterize the efficiency, quality and accuracy of the CNIS. In Phase 3, a second survey was conducted to determine how well dietitians had adapted to the system and the extent of improvement in efficiency after the CNIS had been available online for three years. RESULTS The work time requirements decreased by approximately 58% with the assistance of the CNIS. Of the dietitians who used the CNIS, 95% reported satisfaction, with 91.66% indicating that the CNIS was really helpful in their work. However, some shortcomings were also evident according to the results. CONCLUSIONS Dietitians favoured the standardization of nutritional intervention and monitoring. The CNIS meets the needs of dietitians by increasing the quality of nutritional interventions by providing accurate calculations and cross-referencing for information regarding patients' conditions, with the benefit of decreasing the processing time, such as handwritten documentation. In addition, the CNIS also helps dietitians statistically analyse each patient's personal nutritional needs to achieve nutritional improvement.
