Abstract
INTRODUCTION Monopolar transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) is a common surgical procedure for benign prostatic hyperplasia, often associated with significant intraoperative blood loss. Dutasteride, a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor, has been recommended to reduce perioperative bleeding by decreasing vascularity within the prostate. OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of pre-operative administration of dutasteride for a duration of two weeks on the reduction of intra-operative blood loss in patients undergoing monopolar TURP. METHOD This prospective, two-armed, quasi-experimental study enrolled 132 patients based on the specified inclusion criteria. Patients who fulfilled the criteria for monopolar TURP were administered 0.5mg dutasteride for two weeks prior to their TURP procedure. Afterward, these patients were admitted to the hospital ward and underwent the necessary preparations for the surgery. During the surgical procedure, the intra-operative irrigation fluid was quantified and collected and the hemoglobin (Hb) was tested. The amount of blood loss was then determined using an appropriate equation. The assessment of blood loss was conducted using several indicators, including the analysis of irrigation fluid, the measurement of Hb levels in the irrigation fluid, the preoperative Hb levels, and the weight of the resected tissue. RESULT A significant decline in blood loss was observed in the interventional group in comparison to the control group. The average blood loss observed in Group A was 296ml, whereas in Group B it was 370ml. Furthermore, the blood loss per gram was found to be 11.7ml/g in Group A and 14.7ml/g in Group B. The mean operative time for Group A was recorded as 42 minutes, while Group B had a mean operative time of 49 minutes. CONCLUSION The study's findings indicate a significant superiority of administering dutasteride before surgery for a duration of two weeks. A substantial reduction in both intraoperative blood loss and blood loss per gram is seen in patients who underwent monopolar TURP with dutasteride.

Abstract
The current approach to treating inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) primarily focuses on managing inflammation rather than maintaining the integrity of the intestinal barrier. In our study, we sought to investigate the potential role of PHLDA1 in preserving intestinal barrier function as a promising strategy for treating IBD. We observed a significant decrease in PHLDA1 expression in intestinal epithelial cells (IECs) of both IBD patients and mice with chemically induced colitis. This deficiency of PHLDA1 led to increased apoptosis of IECs, resulting in a compromised epithelial barrier and the invasion of commensal bacteria into the mucosa. Consequently, this microbial invasion substantially exacerbated colonic inflammation in mice with the specific knockout of PHLDA1 in IECs (Phlda1IEC-KO) compared to their control littermates. Mechanistically, we found evidence of PHLDA1 interacting with MCL1 to protect against K48-linked polyubiquitylation at the K40 lysine residue, thus preventing ubiquitin-proteasome degradation through the MCL1 ubiquitin ligase E3 (Mule). We further confirmed that the PHLDA1-MCL1-Mule signaling pathway plays a critical role in the development of IBD. Notably, our study demonstrated that enhancing MCL1 levels or reducing Mule expression using adeno-associated virus (AAV) attenuated experimental colitis in Phlda1IEC-KO mice. Collectively, our findings emphasize the significance of PHLDA1 in the pathogenesis of IBD and propose that targeting the PHLDA1-MCL1-Mule signaling pathway could be a viable approach for combating IBD.

Abstract
Our study highlights the apoptosis, cell cycle, DNA ploidy, and autophagy molecular mechanisms network to identify prostate pathogenesis and its prognostic role. Caspase 3/7 expressions, cell cycle, adhesion glycoproteins, autophagy, nuclear shrinkage, and oxidative stress by flow-cytometry analysis are used to study the BPH microenvironment's heterogeneity. A high late apoptosis expression by caspases 3/7 activity represents an unfavorable prognostic biomarker, a dependent predictor factor for cell adhesion, growth inhibition by arrest in the G2/M phase, and oxidative stress processes network. The heterogeneous aggressive phenotype prostate adenoma primary cell cultures present a high S-phase category (>12%), with an increased risk of death or recurrence due to aneuploid status presence, representing an unfavorable prognostic biomarker, a dependent predictor factor for caspase 3/7 activity (late apoptosis and necrosis), and cell growth inhibition (G2/M arrest)-linked mechanisms. Increased integrin levels in heterogenous BPH cultures suggest epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) that maintains an aggressive phenotype by escaping cell apoptosis, leading to the cell proliferation necessary in prostate cancer (PCa) development. As predictor biomarkers, the biological mechanisms network involved in apoptosis, the cell cycle, and autophagy help to establish patient prognostic survival or target cancer therapy development.

Abstract
A major hallmark of cancer is the reprogramming of cellular metabolism from oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) to glycolysis, a phenomenon known as the Warburg effect. To sustain high rates of glycolysis, cancer cells overexpress GLUT transporters and glycolytic enzymes, allowing for the enhanced uptake and consumption of glucose. The Warburg effect may be exploited in the treatment of cancer; certain epimers and derivatives of glucose can enter cancer cells and inhibit glycolytic enzymes, stunting metabolism and causing cell death. These include common dietary monosaccharides (ᴅ-mannose, ᴅ-galactose, ᴅ-glucosamine, ʟ-fucose), as well as some rare monosaccharides (xylitol, ᴅ-allose, ʟ-sorbose, ʟ-rhamnose). This article reviews the literature on these sugars in in vitro and in vivo models of cancer, discussing their mechanisms of cytotoxicity. In addition to this, the anticancer potential of some synthetically modified monosaccharides, such as 2-deoxy-ᴅ-glucose and its acetylated and halogenated derivatives, is reviewed. Further, this article reviews how certain monosaccharides can be used in combination with anticancer drugs to potentiate conventional chemotherapies and to help overcome chemoresistance. Finally, the limitations of administering two separate agents, a sugar and a chemotherapeutic drug, are discussed. The potential of the glycoconjugation of classical or repurposed chemotherapy drugs as a solution to these limitations is reviewed.

Abstract
Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is the non-malignant enlargement of the prostate, associated with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTSs). Taraxaci Herba (TH), commonly known as dandelion, has traditionally been utilized in East Asia to treat symptoms related to LUTSs. Based on this traditional use, our study aimed to explore the inhibitory effects of TH on BPH progression using a testosterone propionate-induced rat model. To induce BPH, male Sprague Dawley rats were castrated and injected subcutaneously with testosterone propionate (3 mg/kg/day) for 28 days. Concurrently, TH extract was administered orally at doses of 100 and 300 mg/kg/day throughout the four-week period of testosterone propionate injections. The TH extract significantly reduced both the absolute and relative weights of the prostate, along with histopathological changes in the gland. Moreover, it lowered serum levels of testosterone and dihydrotestosterone and reduced the expression of the androgen receptor in the prostate. Additionally, the TH extract modulated the protein expressions of Bax and Bcl-2, which are key regulators of apoptosis in prostate cells. Collectively, our findings suggest that TH inhibits BPH development partially by modulating androgen signaling and inducing apoptosis within the prostate.

Abstract
Mycoplasma gallisepticum (MG) is a major pathogen causing chronic respiratory disease (CRD) in chickens. Exposure to MG poses a constant threat to chicken health and causes substantial economic losses. Antibiotics are the main treatment for MG infections, but have to struggle with antibiotic residues and MG resistance. To date, no safe and more effective prevention or treatment for MG infections has been identified. Luteolin (Lut) is a natural flavonoid compound known for its excellent anti-viral, anti-bacterial, immunoregulatory, and anti-inflammatory pharmacological activities. Herein, we established an MG-infected model using partridge shank chickens and chicken-like macrophages (HD11 cells) to investigate the effect and potential mechanism of Lut against MG-induced immune damage. According to our findings, Lut significantly inhibited the expression of MG adhesion protein (pMGA1.2) in vivo and in vitro. Lut effectively mitigated the MG-induced decrease in body weight gain, feed conversion ratio, survival rate, and serum IgG and IgA levels. Lut directly repaired MG-induced spleen and thymus damage by histopathological analysis. Furthermore, network pharmacology analysis revealed that Lut most probably resisted MG infection through the IL-17/NF-kB pathway. In vivo and in vitro experiments, Lut significantly suppressed the increase in key protein IL-17A, TRAF6, p-p65, and p-IkBα in the IL-17/NF-kB pathway. Meanwhile, Lut markedly alleviated MG-induced the increase of pro-inflammatory cytokines TNF-α, IL-6, IL-1β, pro-apoptotic genes caspase3 and caspase9, while promoting the expression of anti-apoptotic genes Bcl-2 and Bcl-XL. In summary, Lut effectively suppressed MG colonization, alleviated MG-induced the production performance degradation, inflammatory responses, and immune damage by inhibiting the IL-17/ NF-kB pathway. This study indicates Lut can serve as a safe and effective antibiotic alternative drug for preventing and treating MG-induced CRD. It also provides new evidence to explore the molecular mechanisms of MG infection.

Abstract
Background Cuproptosis plays a crucial role in cancer, and different subtypes of cuproptosis have different immune profiles in prostate adenocarcinoma (PRAD). This study aimed to investigate immune genes associated with cuproptosis and develop a risk model to predict prognostic characteristics and chemotherapy/immunotherapy responses of patients with PRAD. Methods The CIBERSORT algorithm was used to evaluate the immune and stromal scores of patients with PRAD in The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) cohort. Validation of differentially expressed genes DLAT and DLD in benign and malignant tissues by immunohistochemistry, and the immune-related genes of DLAT and DLD were further screened. Univariable Cox regression were performed to select key genes. Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO)-Cox regression analyse was used to develop a risk model based on the selected genes. The model was validated in the TCGA, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) datasets, as well as in this study unit cohort. The genes were examined via functional enrichment analysis, and the tumor immune features, tumor mutation features and copy number variations (CNVs) of patients with different risk scores were analysed. The response of patients to multiple chemotherapeutic/targeted drugs was assessed using the pRRophetic algorithm, and immunotherapy was inferred by the Tumor Immune Dysfunction and Exclusion (TIDE) and immunophenoscore (IPS). Results Cuproptosis-related immune risk scores (CRIRSs) were developed based on PRLR, DES and LECT2. High CRIRSs indicated poor overall survival (OS), disease-free survival (DFS) in the TCGA-PRAD, MSKCC and GEO datasets and higher T stage and Gleason scores in TCGA-PRAD. Similarly, in the sample collected by the study unit, patients with high CRIRS had higher T-stage and Gleason scores. Additionally, higher CRIRSs were negatively correlated with the abundance of activated B cells, activated CD8+ T cells and other stromal or immune cells. The expression of some immune checkpoints was negatively correlated with CRIRSs. Tumor mutational burden (TMB), mutant-allele tumor heterogeneity (MATH) and copy number variation (CNV) scores were all higher in the high-CRIRS group. Multiple chemotherapeutic/targeted drugs and immunotherapy had better responsiveness in the low-CRIRS group. Conclusion Overall, lower CRIRS indicated better response to treatment strategies and better prognostic outcomes.

Abstract
The regulation of apoptosis (the programmed cell death) is dependent on the crucial involvement of BCL2 and BAX. The Bax-248G>A and Bcl-2-938 C>A polymorphic variations in the promoter sequences of the Bax and Bcl-2 gene have been recently associated with low Bax expression, progression to advanced stages, treatment resistance, and shortened overall survival rate in some hematological malignancies, including chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and other myeloproliferative neoplasms. Chronic inflammation has been linked to various stages of carcinogenesis wherein pro-inflammatory cytokines play diverse roles in influencing cancer microenvironment leading to cell invasion and cancer progression. Cytokines such as TNF-α and IL-8 have been implicated in cancer growth in both solid and hematological malignancies with studies showing their elevated levels in patients. Genomic approaches have in recent years provided significant knowledge with the regard to the association of certain SNPs (single nucleotide polymerphisms) either in a gene or its promoter that can influence its expression, with the risk and susceptibility to human diseases including cancer. This study has investigated the consequences of promoter SNPs in apoptosis genes Bax-248G>A (rs4645878)/Bcl-2-938C>A (rs2279115) and pro-inflammatory cytokines TNF-α rs1800629 G>A/IL-8 rs4073 T>A on the risk and susceptibility towards hematological cancers. The study design has 235 individuals both male and female enrolled as subjects that had 113 cases of MPDs (myeloproliferative disorders) and 122 healthy individuals as controls. The genotyping studies were conducted through ARMS PCR (amplification-refractory mutation system PCR). The Bcl-2-938 C>A polymorphism showed up in 22% of patients in the study, while it was observed in only 10% of normal controls. This difference in genotype and allele frequency between the two groups was significant (p = 0.025). Similarly, the Bax-248G>A polymorphism was detected in 6.48% of the patients and 4.54% of the normal controls, with a significant difference in genotype and allele frequency between the groups (p = 0.048). The results suggest that the Bcl-2-938 C>A variant is linked to an elevated risk of MPDs in the codominant, dominant, and recessive inheritance models. Moreover, the study indicated allele A as risk allele which can significantly increase the risk of MPDs unlike the C allele. In case of Bax gene covariants, these were associated with an increased risk of MPDs in the codominant inheritance model and dominant inheritance model. It was found that the allele A significantly enhanced the risk of MPDs unlike the G allele. The frequencies of IL-8 rs4073 T>A in patients was found to be TT (16.39%), AT (36.88%) and AA (46.72%), compared to controls who were more likely to have frequencies of TT (39.34%), AT (37.70%) and AA (22.95%) as such, respectively. There was a notable overrepresentation of the AA genotype and GG homozygotes among patients compared to controls in TNF-α polymorphic variants, with 6.55% of patients having the AA genotype and 84% of patients being GG homozygotes, compared to 1.63% and 69%, respectively in controls. The data from the current study provide partial but important evidence that polymorphisms in apoptotic genes Bcl-2-938C>A and Bax-248G>A and pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-8 rs4073 T>A and TNF-α G>A may help predict the clinical outcomes of patients and determine the significance of such polymorphic variations in the risk of myeloproliferative diseases and their role as prognostic markers in disease management using a case-control study approach.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Sesame oil, an edible essential oil, is known to be rich in unsaturated fatty acids, vitamins and lignans with several reported health-promoting benefits. Acute arsenic poisoning produces toxic hepatitis, bone marrow depression and adverse gastrointestinal responses. In this study, we investigated the protective effect of sesame seed oil (SSO) against genotoxicity, hepatotoxicity and colonic toxicity induced by sodium arsenite (SA) in Wistar rats. METHODS Twenty-eight male Wistar albino rats were randomly allocated into four groups: control, SA only (2.5 mg/kg), SA + SSO (4 ml/kg) and SSO alone for eight consecutive days. Liver function and morphology, bone marrow micronuclei induction, colonic histopathology, mucus production and immune expression of Bcl-2, carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), MUC1 and cytokeratins AE1/AE3 were evaluated. RESULTS SA provoked increased serum activities of liver enzymes, including alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST), and caused severely altered morphology of hepatic and colonic tissues with increased frequency of micronucleated polychromatic erythrocytes (MnPCEs/1000PCE) in the bone marrow. In addition, SA triggered increased expression of colonic CEA and MUC1 but weak Bcl-2 immunoexpression. However, cotreatment with SSO demonstrated protective activities against SA-induced damage, as indicated by significantly reduced serum ALT and AST, fewer micronucleated bone marrow erythrocytes and well-preserved hepatic and colonic morphologies compared to the SA-treated rats. Furthermore, SSO protected the colonic mucosa by boosting mucus production, elevating anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 expression and reducing CEA expression. GC-MS analysis of SSO revealed that it was predominated by linoleic acid, an omega-3 fatty acid, and tocopherols. CONCLUSIONS Our data indicated that SSO protected the liver, colon and bone marrow potentially via anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptotic activities. The data suggest that sesame oil has potential therapeutic applications against chemical toxicities induced by arsenic.

Abstract
Mycoplasma gallisepticum (MG) is the primary pathogen of chronic respiratory diseases (CRDs) in chickens. In poultry production, antibiotics are mostly used to prevent and control MG infection, but the drug resistance and residue problems caused by them cannot be ignored. Glycyrrhizic acid (GA) is derived from licorice, a herb traditionally used to treat various respiratory diseases. Our study results showed that GA significantly inhibited the mRNA and protein expression of pMGA1.2 and GapA in vitro and in vivo. Furthermore, the network pharmacology study revealed that GA most probably resisted MG infection through the MAPK signaling pathway. Our results demonstrated that GA inhibited MG-induced expression of MMP2/MMP9 and inflammatory factors through the p38 and JUN signaling pathways, but not the ERK pathway in vitro. Besides, histopathological sections showed that GA treatment obviously attenuated tracheal and lung damage caused by MG invasion. In conclusion, GA can inhibit MG-triggered inflammation and apoptosis by suppressing the expression of MMP2/MMP9 through the JNK and p38 pathways and inhibit the expression of virulence genes to resist MG. Our results suggest that GA might serve as one of the antibiotic alternatives to prevent MG infection.

Abstract
Simple Summary We use RNA-seq analysis to identify genes that may contribute to mutant p53-mediated prostate cancer initiation in a genetically engineered mouse model (B6.129S4-Trp53tm3.1Tyj/J). A total of 1378 differentially expressed genes, including wildtype p53 target genes (e.g. Cdkn1a, Bax, Bcl2, Kras, Mdm2), p53 gain-of-function-related genes (Mgmt, Id4), and prostate cancer-related genes (Cav-1, Raf1, Kras), were identified. Mice that were homozygous or heterozygous for the Trp53 R270H mutation developed grade one PIN lesions at 3 months and 5 months, respectively, whereas wildtype mice did not develop PIN. Immunohistochemical analysis revealed decreased levels of irradiation-mediated apoptosis in homozygous and heterozygous mice when compared to wildtype counterparts, and this aligned with observed differences in apoptosis-related gene expression. Abstract We previously demonstrated that the Trp53-R270H mutation can drive prostate cancer (CaP) initiation using the FVB.129S4 (Trp53tm3Tyj/wt); FVB.129S (Nkx3-1tm3(cre)Mmswt) genetically engineered mouse model (GEM). We now validate this finding in a different model (B6.129S4-Trp53tm3.1Tyj/J mice) and use RNA-sequencing (RNA-Seq) to identify genes which may contribute to Trp53 R270H-mediated prostate carcinogenesis. Wildtype (Trp53WT/WT), heterozygous (Trp53R270H/WT), and homozygous mice (Trp53R270H/R270H) were exposed to 5 Gy irradiation to activate and stabilize p53, and thereby enhance our ability to identify differences in transcriptional activity between the three groups of mice. Mouse prostates were harvested 6 h post-irradiation and processed for histological/immunohistochemistry (IHC) analysis or were snap-frozen for RNA extraction and transcriptome profiling. IHC analyses determined that presence of the Trp53-R270H mutation impacts apoptosis (lower caspase 3 activity) but not cell proliferation (Ki67). RNA-Seq analysis identified 1378 differentially expressed genes, including wildtype p53 target genes (E.g., Cdkn1a, Bax, Bcl2, Kras, Mdm2), p53 gain-of-function (GOF)-related genes (Mgmt, Id4), and CaP-related genes (Cav-1, Raf1, Kras). Further understanding the mechanisms which contribute to prostate carcinogenesis could allow for the development of improved preventive methods, diagnostics, and treatments for CaP.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Even though the role of the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/AKT pathways and apoptosis has been well established in prostate cancer, there are no studies regarding alteration in the gene expression of PI3K/AKT pathway and protein expression of apoptotic components and their association with prostate size in Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Hence the study was designed to analyze the expression pattern of PI3K/AKT and apoptotic components in patients with BPH. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 27 BPH patients aged between 55 and 75 years were recruited in the study and prostatic tissues were obtained after transurethral resection of the prostate. Gene expression levels of PI3K and AKT were assessed by q-PCR. Apoptotic components like BcL-2, caspase-3, caspase-9, BAD, and p-BAD were analyzed by western blotting and immunohistochemistry. RESULTS Gene expression of PI3K (p85-A) (p = .02), AKT1 (p < .01) and AKT2 (p < .01), and protein expression of BcL-2 (p < .01) and caspase-9 (p < .01) were significantly increased in BPH patients with larger prostate size compared to smaller prostate size. CONCLUSIONS Overexpression of PI3K/AKT pathway and BcL-2 were associated with reduced apoptosis and increased prostate size in BPH.

Abstract
AIM To investigate the accuracy of Briganti nomogram in patients who underwent Pelvic lymph node dissection (PLND). METHODS Hundred and sixty-five patients who underwent radical prostatectomy and PLND between 2012 and 2018 in our clinics were included, and their data were retrospectively screened. RESULTS The mean age of patients was 63.6 ± 5.8 (range: 49-76) years. Hundred and thirty-five (81.8%) patients had a Briganti score of <5, whereas 30 (18.2%) had a Briganti score of ≥5. The preoperative T-PSA levels, biopsy grades and the incidence of T2b and T2c stages in patients with a Briganti score of ≥5 was significantly higher than that in patients with a Briganti score of <5 (p: .026; p: .000; p: .001, respectively). The incidence of lymph node positivity in patients with a Briganti score of ≥5 (76.7%) was significantly higher than that in patients with a Briganti score of <5 (25.2%) (p: .000). The sensitivity of the Briganti score to detect lymph node positivity was 40.35%, specificity was 93.52%, positive predictive value was 76.67% and the negative predictive value was 74.81%. The accuracy of the test was 75.15%. CONCLUSION Nomograms provide useful information regarding prostate cancer. Risk estimates should be carefully considered, and treatment decisions should be given with a patient-specific approach.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the impacts of statin treatment on the risk of benign prostatic enlargement (BPE) progression in hyperlipidemia patients. METHODS Newly diagnosed hyperlipidemia patients (n = 7961), identified from Taiwan's National Health Insurance Research Database, were divided into four statin cohorts (statin use >365 days, n = 1604; statin use 181-365 days, n = 813; statin use 91-180 days, n = 739; and statin use 31-90 days, n = 713) and one control cohort (cohort that used no statins, n = 4092). Study endpoint was occurrence of BPE progression (BPE diagnosis plus receiving BPE-related medications or surgery). Relative risks of BPE progression in the statin cohorts compared to the control cohort were analyzed. RESULTS Multivariable Cox proportional hazards regression analyses demonstrated that BPE progression risk in the cohort used statins for >365 days was significantly lower than the control cohort (adjusted hazard ratio: 0.70, 95% confidence interval: 0.58 ∼ 0.85, p < .001). However, BPE progression risks of the other three statin cohorts did not significantly differ from the control cohort. Trend analysis revealed that the effects of statin treatment on decreasing BPE progression risk were significantly related to statin treatment duration (p = .001). CONCLUSIONS Hyperlipidemia patients with long-term statin treatment (more than 365 days) are associated with a reduced risk of BPE progression.

Abstract
Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in the male population. The objective of this investigation was to study the relationship of components of transforming growth factor-B (TGF-β)/phosphoinositide-3-kinases (PI3K)/AKT/mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR)/nuclear factor kappa B (NF-kB) transduction pathway with clinical-pathological markers. By immunohistochemical methods, we determined the expression of several factors [TGF-β, Transforming Growth Factor B Receptor I (TGFBRI), TGFBRII, PI3K, AKT-Ser, AKT-Thr, mTOR, p-mTOR, inhibitor kB kinase (IKK), pIKK, inhibitor kB (IkB), pIkB, NF-kBp50, and NF-kBp65]. To know their relationship with established classical markers (Preoperative serum prostate specific antigen, pathological tumor stage, clinical tumor stage, Gleason score, perineural invasion, node involvement, positive surgical margins, biochemical progression, and survival) and their importance in the prognosis of biochemical progression, Spearman test, survival analysis, Log-rang test, Kaplan-Meier curves, univariate and multivariate Cox proportional Hazard regression analyses were performed. Spearman analysis showed that there was at least one correlation between TGF-β, TGFBRI, PI3K, pAKT-Thr, p-mTOR, NF-kBp50, and classical markers. Cox multivariate analysis between the prognostic variables (pathological tumor stage, Gleason score, and node involvement) and inmunohistochemical parameters confirmed TGFBR1 and PI3K as a prognostic and independent marker of biochemical progression in prostate cancer. Our results suggest that TGFBR1 and PI3K could be used as useful biomarkers for early diagnosis and prognoses for biochemical recurrence in prostate cancer after radical prostatectomy.

Abstract
In this study, the antioxidant enzyme activities such as (SOD, GSH, and CAT) and malondialdehyde (MDA) level which is the end product of lipid peroxidation, were determined from the serum samples taken from patients diagnosed with prostate cancer Van Yuzuncu Yıl University Medical Faculty of Educational Research and Training Hospital and İstanbul Bagcilar Education Research Hospital. The SOD, GSH, and CAT activity of patient groups was found significantly lower than the healthy control group in patients with prostate cancer (p < .05). Serum MDA level is found significantly high when compared to control groups. MDA levels increased in patients that suffer prostate cancer disorder. Whereas, firstly antioxidant enzymes activity of SOD, GSH and CAT have been decreased in control groups. Thus, we concluded that the cause of development of prostate cancer may be the result of an imbalance between the antioxidants and oxidative stress. As a result, SOD, CAT, GSH, and MDA may play an important role in the etiopathogenesis of prostate cancer.
