Abstract
The aim of this study is to investigate the rate, risk factors, causative microorganism distribution, and treatment outcomes of catheter-related bloodstream infection (CRBSI) in chronic hemodialysis patients undergoing treatment with a tunneled hemodialysis catheter. Data for all patients who underwent hemodialysis treatment with tunneled catheters at our center between January 2014 and January 2024 were retrospectively analyzed. A total of 171 patients were included in the study. Forty-five patients had 54 CRBSI episodes. The average time between catheter placement and the development of CRBSI was 127.4 days, and the risk of developing CRBSI increased as this duration extended. In the bivariate logistic regression analysis, advanced age (p = 0.03), diabetes (p = 0.005), duration of hemodialysis (p < 0.001), decompensated cirrhosis (p = 0.02), and the femoral vein being the entry site (p = 0.011) were identified as risk factors for CRBSI. In the ROC analysis, the hemoglobin A1c threshold value for the development of CRBSI in diabetic patients was determined to be 9.350 (69% sensitivity, 87% specificity, AUC = 0.755, p < 0.001). We believe that avoiding femoral vein catheterization as much as possible and expediting the transition from catheter to another method for dialysis are important measures to prevent the development of CRBSI.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Tunneled dialysis catheters (TDCs) are important for hemodialysis in patients awaiting a permanent surgical solution, kidney transplantation or without feasible surgical access. Infection of a TDC is a common and severe complication, which often requires removal of the TDC and causes high morbidity and mortality. To date, several risk factors for TDC infections have been reported. This systematic review and meta-analysis aim to provide an overview of currently known risk factors. METHODS A systematic literature search was conducted, including all studies describing patient-, catheter-, and dialysis-related risk factors for TDC infections. In case sufficient data was available for a risk factor, a meta-analysis with random effects model was performed. RESULTS Out of 1273 studies, 30 were included describing a total of 71 risk factors. A meta-analysis was conducted for 26 risk factors. The average incidence of TDC infections was 1.16 ± 0.70/1000 catheter days. Diabetes (odds ratio, OR 1.96), coronary artery disease (OR 2.16), peripheral artery disease (OR 2.28), history of sepsis (OR 2.79), and the number of prior TDCs (OR 1.24) were the most significant risk factors for infection. CONCLUSION Several risk factors are associated with increased TDC infection rates. Most of these risk factors are also linked with infection in other populations and most likely reflect the general frailty of hemodialysis patients. The association between many risk factors and TDC infections was often unclear due to the low number of studies available. Additional large cohort studies are necessary to demonstrate the relevance of these risk factors.

Abstract
Background Central venous catheter (CVC) poses a significant risk of infectious complications in children undergoing hemodialysis. A major concern is the occurrence of central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSIs), which are most critical and lead to significant morbidity. Methods We conducted a study in our pediatric hemodialysis center in King Abdullah Specialized Children's Hospital, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. We included pediatric patients (younger than 14 years old) with a positive central line blood culture who underwent hemodialysis from 2015 until 2023. We collected data pertaining to age, sex, underlying disease, clinical manifestations, and microbiological features, as well as their management strategies. We compared this group's epidemiological and biochemical markers to a group of hemodialysis patients who did not develop CLABSI. Results In our pediatric hemodialysis center, we have an overall incidence of 4.2 CLABSIs per 1,000 catheter days, with mainly gram-positive organisms. We found that more than half of the patients required hospitalization, indicating a lower threshold for admission in pediatric patients than adults. We also found that patients with catheter infections had higher white blood cell counts as well as neutrophils, which can be used to raise suspicion of catheter infection. Most patients (85%) did not require catheter removal and were treated with intravenous antibiotics only. Conclusion CLABSIs cause high morbidity and mortality; therefore, clinicians should have a high index of suspicion, especially in patients with fever and a high white blood cell count. Such patients require intravenous antibiotics, lock therapy in some cases, and, occasionally, catheter removal/replacement as indicated.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To provide theoretical basis for prevention of a Dacron-cuffed catheter related infection (CRI), the risk factors of CRI in hemodialysis patients were systematically evaluated. METHODS Eight databases, including PubMed, Cochrane library, EMBASE, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Chinese Biomedical Database (CBM), Wanfang Database and Chinese Scientific Journal Database (VIP), were searched to screen out literatures related to the risk factors of long-term indwelling a Dacron-cuffed CRI in hemodialysis. Meta-analysis of risk factors for a Dacron-cuffed CRI in hemodialysis and publication bias test were performed using RevMan 5.4 software. RESULTS After screening, 13 literatures involving a Dacron-cuffed CRI were included, with a total of 625 patients, and the infection rate was 11.7%. The combined OR value and 95% confidence interval (CI) of all factors were: Combined with Diabetes (1.94, 1.51 ~ 2.50), Hb (1.82, 1.35 ~ 2.44), age (2.38, 1.06 ~ 5.34), catheter indwelling time (1.79, 1.21 ~ 2.66), serum albumin (2.26, 1.25 ~ 4.08), catheter indwelling site (3.29, 1.74 ~ 6.23) and the number of tube placement (5.40, 2.65 ~ 11.02). CONCLUSIONS The main risk factors for a Dacron-cuffed CRI in hemodialysis were combined with diabetes, hemoglobin level, age, catheter indwelling time, serum albumin level, femoral vein catheter indwelling and catheterization times. In other words, hemodialysis patients are at higher risk of CRI if they have diabetes, or if they have a lower hemoglobin level, or if they are older, or if they have a longer duration of catheterization, or if they have a lower serum albumin level, or if they have a femoral vein catheter, or if they have more catheters.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Clinical studies have not fully assessed the potential impact of patients' biochemical indicators on the rate of positive for central venous catheter-tip microorganism culture (PCMC). METHODS Data were obtained from an online Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care IV database. Patients who were ≥18 years old and had central venous catheter-tip culture results without continuous renal replacement therapy were included in the study. A comparison of patient characteristics and their biochemical indicators was made between negative and positive culture results. RESULTS A total of 5,323 patients were included in the analysis, including 612 positive (PCMC group) and 4,711 negative culture results (negative for central venous catheter tip catheter-tip microorganism culture [NCMC] group). The only influence factor on PCMC in this study was the serum creatinine (Scr) (odds ratio: 1.312, 95% confidence interval: 1.084-1.590, P = .005), according to a binary logistic regression analysis. The cut-off value of Scr was 3.25 mg/dL. The prevalence of PCMC (27.1% vs 9.1%, P < .001) and Staphylococcus aureus (43.0% vs 18.6%, P < .001) for central venous catheter-tip culture results was much higher in patients with Scr ≥ 3.25 mg/dL than those Scr < 3.25 mg/dL. CONCLUSIONS We used the large dataset collected from Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care IV to show that patients with Scr ≥ 3.25 mg/dL had an increased risk for PCMC.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Creation and maintenance of dialysis vascular access (VA) is a major component of healthcare resource utilization and cost for patients newly started on hemodialysis (HD). Different VA format arises due to patient acceptance of anticipatory care versus late preparation, and clinical characteristics. This study reviews the clinical journey and resource utilization required for different VA formats in the first year of HD. METHOD Data of patients newly commenced on HD between July 2015 and June 2016 were reviewed. Patients were grouped by their VA format: (A) pre-emptive surgically created VA (SCVA), (B) tunneled central venous catheter (CVC) followed by SCVA creation, (C) long-term tunneled CVC only. Clinical events, number of investigations and procedures, hospital admissions, and incurred costs of the three groups were compared. RESULTS In the multivariable analysis, the cost incurred by the group A patients had no significant difference to that incurred in the group B patients (p = 0.08), while the cost of group C is significantly lower (p < 0.001). Both the 62.7% of group A with successful SCVA who avoided tunneled CVC usage, and those with a functionally matured SCVA in group B (66.1%), used fewer healthcare resources and incurred less cost for their access compared to those did not (p = 0.01, p = 0.02, respectively) during the first year of HD. CONCLUSION With comparable cost, a pre-emptive approach enables avoidance of tunneled CVC. Tunneled CVC only access format incurred lower cost and is suitable for carefully selected patients. Successful maturation of SCVA greatly affects patients' clinical journey and healthcare cost.

Abstract
End stage renal disease (ESRD) patients on renal replacement therapy (RRT) have an increased risk of morbidity and mortality due to healthcare associated infections (HCAIs). The aim of this study is to determine the prevalence, microbial etiology, and risk factors associated with HCAIs among ESRD patients on RRT. A multicenter, retrospective study was conducted from June to December 2019. ESRD patients with minimum of 6 months on RRT were included, while pregnant patients and patients <18 years were excluded. To reduce the risk of selection bias, all patients were randomly selected using a simple random sampling technique. The prevalence showing the proportion of patients that acquired HCAI since the initiation of dialysis until 2019 was calculated using the European patients' academy (EUPATI) formula. Risk factors were assessed using univariate and multivariate regression analysis. The prevalence of HCAI among ESRD patients was 174/400 (43.5%). Catheter related bloodstream infection (CRBSI) was the most common infection [64(36.8%)], followed by peritonitis [45(25.8%)] and pneumonia [37(21.2%)]. Out of 382 total pathogens identified, 204 (53.4%) were Gram positive and 162 (42.4%) were Gram negative. Both methicillin sensitive staphylococcus aureus (MSSA) and methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) showed statistically significant associations (p<0.05) with CRBSI. Use of multiple accesses, increased blood sugar levels, low serum sodium levels and higher CRP concentration increased the occurrence of HCAIs. The burden of HCAIs among the patients undergoing RRT is high. Preventive strategies and optimum empirical therapy of antibiotics should be used to reduce the risk of these infections among ESRD patients.

Abstract
The clinical features and risk factors for survival time were analysed in haemodialysis patients complicated with infective endocarditis. A total of 101 infective endocarditis (IE) patients treated at Hangzhou First People's Hospital, from January 1, 2012, to April 1, 2022, were included in the present study. Baseline demographic data and laboratory data were collected for statistical analysis of risk factors and survival time in the IE with haemodialysis group (HD-IE group, n=15) and the IE without haemodialysis group (NHD-IE group, n=86). Haemoglobin, red blood cells, C-reactive protein, procalcitonin, serum albumin, diabetes, invasive procedures, positive blood bacteria culture, heart valve calcification ratio, and left ventricular ejection fraction level were risk factors for infective endocarditis complicated with haemodialysis (P<0.05). Compared with the NHD-IE group, the HD-IE group had an obviously increased risk of mortality (χ2=6.323, P=0.012). The univariate Cox regression analysis showed that age, haemoglobin, red blood cells, serum albumin, left ventricular ejection score, longest vegetation diameter, combined hypotension and diabetes were risk factors for death; furthermore, multivariate Cox regression showed that age (HR=1.187, P=0.015), combined hypotension (HR=0.921, P=0.025) and the longest vegetation diameter (HR=9.191, P=0.004) were independent risk factors affecting the survival of patients. Collectively, the present study revealed that the mortality rate of HD-IE patients was higher than that of NHD-IE patients. Older age, hypotension, and the longest vegetation diameter were independent risk factors affecting the survival of patients. For HD-IE patients, active and effective antibiotic treatment or surgical treatment should be strongly recommended.

Abstract
Antecedentes: La infección relacionada con catéter venoso central (CVC) está asociada a una elevada morbimortalidad y se ha relacionado con la bacteriemia asociada a CVC, disfunciones de catéter, la manipulación y las medidas higiénicas tomadas durante la misma.
Objetivo: El objetivo del presente estudio fue comparar la tasa de bacteriemia entre los años 2019 y 2020, primer año de pandemia por el virus SARS-CoV-2, en una unidad de hemodiálisis de un hospital de la Comunidad Autónoma de Madrid.
Material y Método: Se ha llevado a cabo un estudio observacional retrospectivo transversal en el que se compararon datos relativos a la manipulación y al funcionamiento del catéter, y tasa de bacteriemias relacionadas con el catéter entre los años 2019 y 2020 a través de la base de datos de la unidad.
Resultados: En 2019 se incluyeron 35 pacientes, que presentaron una tasa de bacteriemia de 1,42/1000 días de catéter y 29 pacientes en 2020, con una tasa de bacteriemia de 1,82/1000 días de catéter, no encontrándose diferencias significativas (p=0,54), no encontrando un riesgo de bacteriemia incrementado o disminuido durante el primer año de pandemia producida por el virus SARS-CoV-2.
Conclusiones: Como principal conclusión de este estudio, podemos afirmar que no se ha evidenciado que la llegada de la pandemia producida por la enfermedad del coronavirus y las medidas adoptadas frente al virus SARS-CoV-2, tanto organizacionales como de prevención, sean un factor de riesgo o protección respecto a la tasa de bacteriemia, probablemente debido al bajo número de eventos encontrados.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Despite the high economic and mortality burden of chronic kidney disease, studies on survival and predictors of mortality among patients on hemodialysis in Ethiopia especially in the Amhara region are scarce considering their importance to identify some modifiable risk factors for early mortality to improve the patient's prognosis. So, this study was done to fill the identified gaps. The study aimed to assess survival and predictors of mortality among end-stage renal disease patients on hemodialysis in Amhara regional state, Ethiopia, 2020/2021. METHOD Institution-based retrospective record review was conducted in Felege Hiwot, Gonder, and Gambi hospitals from March 5 to April 5, 2021. A total of 436 medical records were selected using a simple random sampling technique. A life table was used to estimate probabilities of survival at different time intervals. Multivariable cox regression was used to identify risk factors for mortality. RESULT Out of the 436 patients 153 (35.1%) had died. The median survival time was 345 days with a mortality rate of 1.89 per 1000 person-days (95%CI (1.62, 2.22)). Patients live in rural residences (AHR = 1.48, 95%CI (1.04, 2.12)), patients whose cause of CKD was hypertension (AHR = 1.49, 95%CI (1.01, 2.23)) and human immune virus (AHR = 2.22, 95%CI (1.41, 3.51)), and patients who use a central venous catheter (AHR = 3.15, 95%CI (2.08, 4.77)) had increased risk of death while staying 4 h on hemodialysis (AHR = 0.43, 95%CI (0.23, 0.80)) decreases the risk of death among chronic kidney disease patients on hemodialysis. CONCLUSIONS The overall survival rate and median survival time of chronic kidney disease patients on hemodialysis were low in the Amhara region as compared with other developing Sub-Saharan African counties.

Abstract
Undocumented immigrants with end-stage renal disease in the United States are uniquely disadvantaged in their ability to access dialysis. This article examines the unique circumstances of the medical condition and healthcare system, including the relevant legal and regulatory influences that largely relegate undocumented immigrants to relying on emergency-only dialysis through a hospital's Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act obligations. We explore the ethical implications of this current state, emphasizing the adverse effects on patients and staff alike. We also review necessary actions that range from the actions an individual emergency physician to changes needed in federal policy.

Abstract
Background: Due to frequent hospitalizations, complex dialysis procedures and immune compromising effects of end stage renal disease (ESRD), patients on dialysis are more prone to healthcare associated infections (HCAIs). Objective: To study the impact of HCAIs on survival and treatment outcomes among ESRD patients on renal replacement therapy (RRT). Methodology: A multicenter, retrospective study was conducted from June to December 2019 at two public hospitals of Malaysia. ESRD patients with minimum of 6 months on RRT were included, while pregnant patients and patients <18 years were excluded. Multinomial logistic regression was performed to identify risk factors associated with unsuccessful treatment outcomes. Kaplan Meier analysis was performed to study the survival. Results: A total of 670 records were examined, of which 400 patients were included as per the inclusion criteria. The mean survival time of patients without HCAIs [22.7 (95%CI:22.1-23.2)] was higher than the patients with HCAIs [19.9 (95%CI:18.8-20.9)]. Poor survival was seen in patients with >2 comorbidities, >60 years of age, low hemoglobin concentration and high C-reactive protein levels. The most frequent treatment outcome was cured [113 (64.9%)], followed by death [37 (21.3%)] and treatment failure [17 (9.8%)]. Advancing age, and low hemoglobin concentration were independent risk factors associated with death, while recurrent HCAIs, use of central venous catheters, and low serum sodium levels were risk factors for treatment failure. Conclusion: The high burden of HCAIs is a profound challenge faced by patients on RRT, which not only effects the treatment outcomes but also contributes substantially to the poor survival among these patients.

Abstract
Antimicrobial-lock therapy is an economically viable strategy to prevent/reduce the catheter-related bloodstream infections (CRBSI) that are associated with central venous catheters (CVCs). Herein, we report the synthesis and characterization of the S-nitroso-N-acetyl-l-cysteine ethyl ester (SNACET), a nitric oxide (NO)-releasing molecule, and for the first time its application as a catheter lock solution to combat issues of bacterial infection associated with indwelling catheters. Nitric oxide is an endogenous gasotransmitter that exhibits a wide range of biological properties, including broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity. The storage stability of the SNACET and the NO release behavior of the prepared lock solution were analyzed. SNACET lock solutions with varying concentrations exhibited tuneable NO release at physiological levels for >18 h, as measured using chemiluminescence. The SNACET lock solutions were examined for their efficacy in reducing microbial adhesion after 18 h of exposure toStaphylococcus aureus (Gram-positive bacteria) andEscherichia coli (Gram-negative bacteria). SNACET lock solutions with 50 and 75 mM concentrations were found to reduce >99% (ca. 3-log) of the adhered S. aureus and E. coli adhesion to the catheter surface after 18 h. The SNACET lock solutions were evaluated in a more challenging in vitro model to evaluate the efficacy against an established microbial infection on catheter surfaces using the same bacteria strains. A >90% reduction in viable bacteria on the catheter surfaces was observed after instilling the 75 mM SNACET lock solution within the lumen of the infected catheter for only 2 h. These findings propound that SNACET lock solution is a promising biocidal agent and demonstrate the initiation of a new platform technology for NO-releasing lock solution therapy for the inhibition and treatment of catheter-related infections.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Infection is the second highest cause of mortality in end-stage renal disease, with a significant proportion relating to haemodialysis (HD) vascular access-related infection (VARI). AIM To report the rate and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) of all-source bloodstream infections (BSIs) by vascular access type in a Scottish HD cohort. METHODS Retrospective analysis was undertaken of data on adult patients attending seven HD units during 2017. Total HD days for each vascular access type were calculated. BSIs were analysed with rates expressed per 1000 HD days. AMR was verified using health board microbiology databases. FINDINGS Excluding contaminant organisms, there was an overall BSI rate of 0.57 per 1000 HD days. The highest all-source and vascular access-related infection (VARI) BSI rates per 1000 HD days were in the non-tunnelled central venous catheter (CVC) group (3.11 and 2.07 respectively), followed by tunnelled CVC (1.10 and 0.67), arteriovenous graft (0.51 and 0.31), and finally arteriovenous fistula (0.29 and 0.02). The non-VARI BSI rates were lowest in the arteriovenous graft group. Staphylococci comprised the majority of events, with Staphylococcus aureus implicated in 29%. Gram-negative BSIs were prevalent, particularly in CVC groups, and associated with higher mortality. Multidrug-resistant (MDR) S. aureus and carbapenem resistance were relatively low. MDR Gram-negatives were high compared with the Scottish population. CONCLUSION Arteriovenous fistula access is confirmed as having lowest all-source and VARI BSI rates, and arteriovenous graft access the lowest non-VARI BSI rates. Staphylococci remain the prevailing genus; however, the contributions of Gram-negative BSIs, the higher mortality, and proportion of MDR organisms in this group are notable.

Abstract
Background Patients with hemodialysis central venous catheters (HD CVCs) are susceptible to health care-associated infections, particularly hemodialysis catheter-related bloodstream infection (HD-CRBSI), which is associated with high mortality and health care costs. There have been few systematic attempts to reduce this burden and clinical practice remains highly variable. This manuscript will summarize the challenges in preventing HD-CRBSI and describe the methodology of the REDUcing the burden of dialysis Catheter ComplicaTIOns: a National approach (REDUCCTION) trial. Methods The REDUCCTION trial is a stepped-wedge cluster randomized trial of a suite of clinical interventions aimed at reducing HD-CRBSI across Australia. It clusters the intervention at the renal-service level with implementation randomly timed across three tranches. The primary outcome is the effect of this intervention upon the rate of HD-CRBSI. Patients who receive an HD CVC at a participating renal service are eligible for inclusion. A customized data collection tool allows near-to-real-time reporting of the number of active catheters, total exposure to catheters over time, and rates of HD-CRBSI in each service. The interventions are centered around the insertion, maintenance, and removal of HD CVC, informed by the most current evidence at the time of design (mid-2018). Results A total of 37 renal services are participating in the trial. Data collection is ongoing with results expected in the last quarter of 2020. The baseline phase of the study has collected provisional data on 5385 catheters in 3615 participants, representing 603,506 days of HD CVC exposure. Conclusions The REDUCCTION trial systematically measures the use of HD CVCs at a national level in Australia, accurately determines the rate of HD-CRBSI, and tests the effect of a multifaceted, evidence-based intervention upon the rate of HD-CRBSI. These results will have global relevance in nephrology and other specialties commonly using CVCs.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Undocumented immigrants with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) who rely on emergency-only hemodialysis (dialysis only after an emergency department evaluation) face psychosocial distress. Emergency-only hemodialysis (EOHD) is likely burdensome for primary caregivers as well. OBJECTIVE To understand the experience of primary caregivers of undocumented immigrants with ESKD who rely on emergency-only hemodialysis. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS A qualitative, semi-structured interview study to assess the experiences of primary caregivers of undocumented immigrants with ESKD at a safety-net hospital in Denver, Colorado from June 28 to November 15, 2018. Applied thematic analysis was used to analyze interviews. MAIN OUTCOMES AND MEASURES Themes and subthemes. RESULTS Twenty primary caregiver participants had a mean (SD) age of 46 (17), 13 (65%) were female, 7 (35%) were in an adult child caregiver role, and 13 (65%) were spouses. Five themes and 17 subthemes (in parentheses) were identified: (1) Caregiver role (providing emotional, physical, and economic support, advocacy and care navigation), (2) Caregiver burden (anxiety related to patient and personal death, emotional exhaustion and personal illness, struggle with finances, self-care and redefining relationship), (3) Unpredictable EOHD (acute episodes of illness that trigger emergency, stress when patient is denied dialysis, impact on work and sleep, and emotional relief after a session of EOHD), (4) Effect on children (dropping out or missing school, psychosocial distress, children assuming caregiver responsibilities, and juggling multi-generational caregiving of children), (5) Faith and appreciation (comfort in God and appreciation of healthcare). CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE Caregivers of undocumented immigrants with ESKD who rely upon EOHD experience caregiver burden and distress. Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW Across the United States, significant variation exists in the provision of care of undocumented immigrants with end-stage renal disease (ESRD), with some states providing standard dialysis, and other states providing emergency-only hemodialysis (EoHD). RECENT FINDINGS EoHD is associated with higher morbidity and mortality compared with standard hemodialysis. EoHD is also associated with higher healthcare utilization, resulting in more emergency department visits, more days spent in the hospital, and higher healthcare costs. Undocumented immigrants with ESRD who rely on EoHD also experience crippling and potentially fatal physical symptoms as well as psychosocial suffering, with some patients describing recurrent near-death experiences. Clinicians who provide EoHD to undocumented patients report experiencing moral distress and symptoms of professional burnout because of providing care that they perceive as unethical and far below the standard of care. SUMMARY Undocumented immigrants with ESRD who rely on EoHD have worse health outcomes and quality of life compared with patients who receive standard hemodialysis. EoHD is also more costly to the healthcare system. Healthcare policy reform is critical as more research demonstrates the worse clinical outcomes and higher costs of EoHD.

Abstract
La infección de los catéteres para hemodiálisis constituye una de las causas de mayor morbimortalidad. La hipótesis intuitiva de que los catéteres se infectan más durante la hospitalización no ha sido verificada en la literatura.
Objetivo: Conocer si la hospitalización es un factor de riesgo de bacteriemia relacionada con catéter.
Material y Método: Análisis retrospectivo de las bacteriemias asociadas a catéter durante un período de 4 años de un centro periférico extrahospitalario de hemodiálisis dependiente de un Servicio de Nefrología de un hospital de tercer nivel durante el período 2014-2017.
Se recogieron los tiempos de empleo de catéteres y las bacteriemias relacionadas con catéter divididos en 2 escenarios: Hospital y centro periférico.
Se aplicó el Modelo de Regresión de Poisson para comparar las bacteriemias Hospital vs centro periférico. Un mismo paciente pudo padecer bacteriemia más de una vez y en los dos escenarios.
Resultados: Se emplearon 361 catéteres en 174 pacientes con tiempo total de uso 91.491 días, con 103 episodios de bacteriemia.Tasas de bacteriemias: hospitalizado 7,81/1000 días/catéter y centro periférico 0,81/1000 días/catéter.
