Abstract
Anorexia nervosa (AN) is a debilitating and often refractory eating disorder that is unique among psychiatric disorders insofar as nutrition is key to recovery. Treatment options and efficacy are limited with no approved medications for AN. Genetic studies are clarifying the etiology of AN, with the goal of eventually informing the development of innovative personalized pharmacologic, nutritional, microbial, and behavioral interventions. We present the current state of genome-wide and epigenome-wide association studies, gut microbiome research, and functional genomics investigations and discuss translating this knowledge into clinical practice.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Maternal nutrition plays a crucial role in the development of offspring, influencing both biochemical and behavioral parameters. Brazil nut oil, rich in essential fatty acids and antioxidant bioactive compounds, may provide metabolic, neuroprotective, and anxiolytic benefits to the offspring when offered during the critical period of development. OBJECTIVE Investigate the impact of maternal consumption of crude or refined Brazil nut oil during pregnancy and lactation on anxiety-like behavior and brain lipid peroxidation in rat offspring. METHODOLOGY Each group were compound by male (M) and female (F) puppies. The groups formed were: Controls (CG-M and CG-F) -treated with distilled water; Crude oil (CO-M and CO-F) receiving 3000 mg/kg of body weight of Brazil nut crude oil, and Refined oil (RO-M and RO-F) - treated with 3000 mg/kg of body weight of refined Brazil oil. The dams were treated during pregnancy and lactation. Anxiety-like behavior was observed in the offspring during adolescence using: elevated plus maze (EPM), open field (OF) and light-dark box (LDB). Malondialdehyde (MDA) levels were measured in the pups' brain tissue. RESULTS RO-M/RO-F entered and spent more into the open arms and realized more head dipping CO-M/CO-F and CO-F/RO-F presented increased locomotion and less grooming in the OF; RO-M and RO-F realized more rearing compared to controls groups and CO-M and CO-F compared to all groups. All groups treated with crude and refinated oil spent more time in the light area and realized more transitions in the LDB. Cerebral MDA were decreased in all experimental groups compared to controls groups. CONCLUSION Maternal comsuption of Brazil nut oil induced anxiolitic-like behavior and reduced brain lipid peroxidation of the male and female offspring in rats.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study was carried out to assess the effects of omega-3 supplementation as an adjunct treatment for eating and psychological symptoms in patients with anorexia nervosa. METHODS We conducted a systematic review of the literature using the terms 'anorexia nervosa' AND 'Fatty Acids, Omega-3'. Five randomised controlled trials with a total of 144 participants, published between 2003 and 2022, were included. RESULTS The effects of supplementation of omega-3 on anxiety were standardised mean difference (SMD) 0.79, 95% confidence interval (CI) -0.08 to 1.66; p = 0.08; I² = 3%; two studies, 33 participants; moderate quality of evidence. For depression, the supplementation of omega-3 was SMD: 0.22, 95% CI: -0.50 to 0.93; p = 0.18; I² = 45%; two studies, 33 participants; moderate quality of evidence. For obsessive-compulsive disorder, the supplementation of omega-3 was SMD: -0.22, 95% CI: -0.70 to 2.25; p = 0.36; I² = 0%; three studies, 32 participants; low quality of evidence. CONCLUSION This research showed that regardless of dose, time or, if associated with other components, the use of omega-3 supplementations as an adjuvant treatment showed no evidence of effect in eating and psychological symptoms in patients with anorexia nervosa.

Abstract
Anorexia nervosa (AN) is a complex psychiatric disorder with high morbidity and mortality rates. While many individuals make full recoveries, up to a third of patients develop a chronic, treatment-resistant form of the illness that leads to a premature death in 15-20% of those affected. There have been few advances in treatment, both in terms of psychological or pharmacologic treatment over the last 30 years. Food aversion is commonly cited by patients with AN as a barrier to normalizing eating and weight. Our group has a keen interest in examining factors that might allow this to be addressed, thus improving treatment outcomes through personalized dietary plans or nutritional supplementation related to underlying genetic status. We demonstrated that polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs)-derived bioactive lipids (eicosanoids) are implicated in not only the risk of AN, but also with its comorbid psychopathology. Of interest, the differential postprandial omega 6-derived eicosanoid shift observed in AN highlights the possibility that the metabolism of PUFAs is an important mechanism underlying the profound food version, contributing to pathological food restriction in AN. A concise knowledge of the relationships among PUFAs, eicosanoids, and AN clinical course and psychopathology could be the key to developing personalized nutritional rehabilitative treatments for those suffering from AN. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of the literature on PUFAs in AN. We also selectively reviewed the clinical benefits PUFA treatments exert in other psychiatric diseases, on weight and appetite regulation, and for resolution of inflammation, all of which are relevant in the disease course and outcome of AN. We propose that personalized PUFA formulation be developed and tested as a novel adjunctive treatment for patients with AN. We hypothesize that with personalized PUFA formulation, food aversion and anxiety about eating will decrease while mood, dietary behavior, and weight restoration will improve in AN, leading to improvements in the overall treatment outcome.

Abstract
The two basic questions in food intake study are what we eat, and how much do we eat. Most research is directed toward the control of how much is eaten. This is likely the result of the increased number of individuals with eating disorders in the Western world. Feeding behavior is highly complex, and is controlled by many psychological, physiological, biochemical, and immunological factors. The aim of this review is to clarify the involvement of fatty acids in eating disorders such as anorexia and binge eating disorder. The review will describe the modified fatty acid profile observed in individuals with anorexia or binge eating disorder, and discuss on what factors fatty acids can exert beneficial effects. In addition, the differences and similarities between anorexia and binge eating disorder will be discussed. We suggest that beneficial effects of essential fatty acids on both anorexia and binge eating disorder can be explained by the stabilizing effect of those fatty acids on the neuronal membrane fluidity index.

Abstract
Cancer metastases (spread to distant organs from the primary tumor site) signify systemic, progressive, and essentially incurable malignant disease. Anorexia and wasting develop continuously throughout the course of incurable cancer. Overall, in Westernized countries nearly exactly half of current cancer diagnoses end in cure and the other half end in death; thus, cancer-associated cachexia has a high prevalence. The pathophysiology of cancer-associated cachexia has two principal components: a failure of food intake and a systemic hypermetabolism/hypercatabolism syndrome. The superimposed metabolic changes result in a rate of depletion of physiological reserves of energy and protein that is greater than would be expected based on the prevailing level of food intake. These features indicate a need for nutritional support, metabolic management, and a clear appreciation of the context of life-limiting illness.
