Abstract
Background: Long-COVID is characterized by the persistency of COVID-19 symptoms beyond 12 weeks, and it is probably consequent to immune dysregulation induced by SARS-CoV-2 infection. Immune dysregulation is associated with and probably involved in the pathogenesis of chronic gynecological conditions like endometriosis and adenomyosis. This study evaluated whether the presence of endometriosis or adenomyosis increases the risk of long-COVID, i.e., the persistence of COVID-19 symptoms beyond 12 weeks since infection. Methods: This retrospective observational study was performed at the outpatient service for endometriosis and chronic pelvic pain, at a university hospital. The diagnosis of endometriosis/adenomyosis was primarily based on clinical symptoms and ultrasonography assessment. Data regarding infection, vaccination, symptoms associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection, and their persistence for a minimum of 12 weeks were collected. Results: This study included 247 women, 149 controls without and 98 cases with endometriosis/adenomyosis. Among these, 194 (116 controls and 78 cases) had suffered from SARS-CoV-2 infection. Rates of infection and vaccination were similar in the two groups. The distribution of the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine was uniform across the two cohorts. COVID-19 patients with endometriosis or adenomyosis exhibited a higher prevalence (p < 0.001) of dyspnea and chest pain. The prevalence of long-COVID beyond 12 weeks was higher in cases than controls (42% vs. 12%; p < 0.001) with chest pain (p < 0.001) and ageusia (p < 0.05), forming the most representative symptoms. Conclusions: Symptoms of long-COVID are more frequent in women with than without endometriosis/adenomyosis.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Since December 2019, the coronavirus disease has spread among the people of the world. Past studies have shown that viral diseases are more common and the immune response is stronger among menopausal women than nonmenopausal women. Therefore, in this study, we aimed to compare the amount of immunoglobulin (Ig)G against COVID-19 between postmenopausal and nonmenopausal women vaccinated with Sinopharm vaccine. METHODS In this case-control study, 90 females vaccinated with the Sinopharm vaccine were randomly selected from February to April 2022: 45 menopausal participants as the case group and 45 nonmenopausal controls. Demographic characteristics were obtained and blood samples were taken from all subjects. A complete blood count was carried out and the levels of IgG against COVID-19 were measured by using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay method. RESULTS The mean age was 33.3 ± 7.3 years and 60.2 ± 7.02 years for control and menopausal women, respectively. A significant difference was found between the 2 groups for the levels of IgG antibodies against COVID-19 (P = .002, 17.2 ± 9.83 relative unit for case group and 10.2 ± 9.80 relative unit for control subjects). After adjusting, IgG against COVID-19 was significantly correlated to the menopausal state (odds ratio [confidence interval] = 1. 08 [1.03-1. 15]; P = .003). CONCLUSION The results of this study showed that menopausal women had higher levels of IgG against COVID-19 in comparison with nonmenopausal females. However, more complementary studies are needed in this regard.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This scoping review aims to map and summarize the direct impact of contracting COVID-19, and the indirect consequences of the pandemic on the health of peri- and postmenopausal women. METHODS Searches for published studies were conducted in CINAHL, Cochrane, EMBASE, PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, PsycINFO and ProQuest from inception to 26 Oct, 2022. Grey literature and reference lists of included studies were searched. Results are presented as a narrative synthesis and tables. RESULTS Thirty-eight studies were selected in this review. Overall, a majority of studies (n = 31) suggest that menopausal women were negatively impacted, while lesser studies (n = 21) concluded that they were not and some studies (n = 14) produced both negative and neutral results. Twenty-three studies presented on the direct health impact of COVID-19 infections on menopausal women. Eleven studies focused on the indirect impact of COVID-19 in terms of contact restriction measures on menopausal health during the pandemic compared to before the pandemic. Six studies described the different indirect impact of COVID-19 on health of menopausal women with various characteristics or lifestyles. CONCLUSION The direct and indirect impacts of COVID-19 on menopausal women on physical, mental health and social wellbeing are largely negative.

Abstract
The current global COVID-19 mortality rate is estimated to be around 3.4%; however, it is dependent on age, sex, and comorbidities. Epidemiological evidence shows gender disparities in COVID-19 severity and fatality, with non-menopausal females having milder severity and better outcomes than age-matched males. However, the difference vanishes when comparing postmenopausal women with age-matched men. It has been suggested that, to some extent, this is due to the protective role of female hormones, such as anti-Müllerian hormone and oestradiol (E2), in non-menopausal women. Oestrogens have been hypothesized to be crucial in modulating viral infection and the progression of the disease via an action on immune/inflammatory responses and angiotensin-converting enzyme type 2 expression. Hence, the most likely explanation is that, because the levels of oestrogen in females after menopause decrease, oestrogen no longer offers a beneficial effect as seen in younger females. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the serious negative effects arising from the state of E2 deficiency. Therefore, hormone replacement therapy gains further support as the damaging effect of the decline in ovarian function affects many biological systems, and recently with the COVID-19 pandemic, oestrogen's vital role within the immune system has become quite clear. However, additional clinical investigations regarding hormone replacement therapy are urgently needed to further verify the protective and therapeutic effects of E2 on menopausal women with COVID-19.

Abstract
The fatal outcomes of COVID-19 are related to the high reactivity of the innate wing of immunity. Estrogens could exert anti-inflammatory effects during SARS-CoV-2 infection at different stages: from increasing the antiviral resistance of individual cells to counteracting the pro-inflammatory cytokine production. A complex relationship between sex hormones and immune system implies that menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) has pleiotropic effects on immunity in peri- and postmenopausal patients. The definite immunological benefits of perimenopausal MHT confirm the important role of estrogens in regulation of immune functionalities. In this review, we attempt to explore how sex hormones and MHT affect immunological parameters of the organism at different level (in vitro, in vivo) and what mechanisms are involved in their protective response to the new coronavirus infection. The correlation of sex steroid levels with severity and lethality of the disease indicates the potential of using hormone therapy to modulate the immune response and increase the resilience to adverse outcomes. The overall success of MHT is based on decades of experience in clinical trials. According to the current standards, MHT should not be discontinued in COVID-19 with the exception of critical cases.

Abstract
Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is characterized with a wide range of clinical presentations from asymptomatic to severe disease. In patients with severe disease, the main causes of mortality have been acute respiratory distress syndrome, cytokine storm and thrombotic events. Although all factors that may be associated with disease severity are not yet clear, older age remains a leading risk factor. While age-related immune changes may be at the bottom of severe course of COVID-19, age-related hormonal changes have considerable importance due to their interactions with these immune alterations, and also with endothelial dysfunction and comorbid cardiometabolic disorders. This review aims to provide the current scientific evidence on the pathogenetic mechanisms underlying the pathway to severe COVID-19, from a collaborative perspective of age-related immune and hormonal changes together, in accordance with the clinical knowledge acquired thus far.

Abstract
The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection remains a huge challenge for contemporary healthcare systems. Apart from widely reported acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), the virus affects many other systems inducing a vast number of symptoms such as gastrointestinal, neurological, dermatological, cardiovascular, and many more. Currently it has also been hypothesized that the virus might affect female and male reproductive systems; SARS-CoV-2 infection could also have a role in potential disturbances to human fertility. In this article, we aimed to review the latest literature regarding the potential effects of SARS-CoV-2 infection on female and male reproductive systems as well as fertility, in general.
