Abstract
The purgaty One systems (cap+bottle) are portable stainless-steel water bottles with UV subtype C (UVC) disinfection capability. This study examines the bottle design, verifies disinfection performance against Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Vibrio cholerae, and heterotrophic contaminants, and addresses the public health relevance of heterotrophic bacteria. Bottles were inoculated with deliberately contaminated potable water and disinfection efficacy examined using colony forming unit (CFU) assay for each bacterial strain. The heterotrophic plate count (HPC) method was used to determine the disinfection performance against environmental contaminants at day 0 and after 3days of water in stationary condition without prior UVC exposure. All UVC irradiation experiments were performed under stationary conditions to confirm that the preset application cycle of 55s offers the desired disinfection performance under-tested conditions. To determine effectiveness of purgaty One systems (cap+bottle) in disinfection, inactivation efficacy or log reduction value (LRV) was determined using bacteria concentration between UVC ON condition and controls (UVC OFF). The study utilized the 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) gene for characterization of isolates by identifying HPC bacteria to confirm if they belong to groups that are of public health concern. Purgaty One systems fitted with Klaran UVC LEDs achieved 99.99% inactivation (LRV4) efficacy against E. coli and 99.9% inactivation (LRV3) against P. aeruginosa, V. cholerae, and heterotrophic contaminants. Based on the 16S rRNA gene analyses, the study determined that the identified HPC isolates from UVC irradiated water are of rare public health concern. The bottles satisfactorily inactivated the target pathogenic bacteria and HPC contaminants even after 3days of water in stationary condition.

Abstract
Although the microbiome of blood-feeding insects serves an integral role in host physiology, both beneficial and pathogenic, little is known of the microbial community of black flies. An investigation, therefore, was undertaken to identify culturable bacteria from one of Malaysia's most common black flies, Simulium tani Takaoka and Davies, using 16S rDNA sequencing, and then evaluate the isolates for antibiotic resistance and virulence genes. A total of 20 isolates representing 11 bacterial species in four genera were found. Five isolates showed β-hemolysis on Columbia agar, and virulence genes were found in three of these isolates. Some degree of resistance to six of the 12 tested antibiotics was found among the isolates. The baseline data from this study suggest rich opportunities for comparative studies exploring the diversity and roles of the microbiome of S. tani and other Southeast Asian black flies.

Abstract
Strain CFH S0501T, a novel Gram-stain-positive, aerobic, rod-shaped, endospore-forming and motile micro-organism with peritrichous flagella, was isolated from a sediment sample collected from the Yellow River in Henan Province, PR China. Optimum growth was observed at 28 °C, pH 7.0 and without NaCl. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that the strain belonged to the genus Brevibacillus and was closely related to Brevibacillus centrosporus DSM 8445T and Brevibacillus ginsengisoli Gsoil 3088T (with 96.8 and 96.7 % sequence similarity, respectively). The predominant menaquinone was MK-7. Major cellular fatty acids were anteiso-C15 : 0 and iso-C15 : 0. Polar lipids consisted of diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylmonomethylethanolamine, phosphatidylethanolamine, two unidentified phospholipids and an unidentified polar lipid. The cell-wall peptidoglycan was found to contain meso-diaminopimelic acid. The genome size was 5.26 Mbp with a G+C content of 49.7 mol%. The average nucleotide identity (ANI) and in silico DNA-DNAhybridization (DDH) values between CFH S0501T and the other species of the genus Brevibacillus were found to be low (ANIm <86.11 %, ANIb <70.30 % and DDH <25.00 %). Based on physiological properties, chemotaxonomic characteristics and low ANI and DDH results, strain CFH S0501T is considered to represent a novel species, for which the name Brevibacillus migulae sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is CFH S0501T (=DSM 29940T=BCRC 80809T).

Abstract
A Gram-stain-positive, aerobic, motile, and rod-shaped bacterial strain designated TGS2-1T was isolated from sediment soil in the Nakdong River, Republic of Korea. The optimal growth of strain TGS2-1T was observed at 28°C and pH 7.0 without NaCl supplementation. Strain TGS2-1T revealed antibiosis against various bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus KCCM 4051, CCARM 3089 (methicillin resistant strains), Enterococcus faecalis KCCM 11814, Escherichia coli KCTC 2443, Candida albicans KACC 7270, and Filobasidium neoformans KCTC 7902. Phylogenetic analyses based on the 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strain TGS2-1T belonged to the genus Brevibacillus and shared 93.8-99.7% sequence similarity with Brevibacillus species. Whole-genome sequencing of strain TGS2-1T revealed a genome size of 6.2 Mbp and DNA G + C content of 47.0 mol%. The TGS2-1T genome shared an average nucleotide identity and digital DNA-DNA hybridization of 74.6-93.3% and 18.6-67.1%, respectively, with six related Brevibacillus genomes. The major fatty acid constituents of strain TGS2-1T were anteiso-C15:0 (62.3%) and anteiso-C17:0 (10.8%). Cells of strain TGS2-1T contained diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, seven unidentified aminophospholipids, and five unidentified lipids. The isoprenoid quinone detected in the strain was menaquinone-7 (MK-7). Based on data obtained from this polyphasic taxonomic study, strain TGS2-1T represents a novel species belonging to genus Brevibacillus, for which the name B. antibioticus sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is TGS2-1T (= KCCM 90326T = NBRC 113840T = FBCC-B2501).

Abstract
Two novel aerobic bacteria, designated strains LAM0312T and LAM0313, were isolated from saline soil samples collected from a paddy field in Dezhou city, Shandong Province, China. Cells of these strains were Gram-stain-positive, sporogenous, rod-shaped and motile with peritrichous flagella. The optimal growth temperature and pH were 30 °C and pH 7.0-8.0. Strain LAM0312T was able to grow in the presence of 12 % (w/v) NaCl. The major fatty acids were anteiso-C15 : 0 and iso-C15 : 0. The dominant polar lipids were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, glycolipids, five unidentitied lipids and phosphatidylmonomethylethanolamine. The cell-wall peptidoglycan was found to contain meso-diaminopimelic acid. The predominant menaquinone was identified as menaquinone-7. The G+C content of the genomic DNA of strains LAM0312T and LAM0313 was 45.0 and 46.0 mol%, respectively, as determined by the Tm method. 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity analysis indicated that the strains were closely related to Brevibacillus laterosporus DSM 25T and Brevibacillus fluminis JCM 15716T with 98.5 and 96.4 % sequence similarity, respectively. The DNA-DNA hybridization value between strain LAM0312T and LAM0313 was 92±0.6 % (reciprocal 90±0.2 %) and the value between strain LAM0312T and Brevibacillus laterosporus DSM 25T was 48±0.5 % (reciprocal 40±0.4 %). On the basis of the phenotypic, phylogenetic and chemotaxonomic characteristics, the two strains are proposed to represent a novel species of the genus Brevibacillus, for which the name Brevibacillus halotolerans sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is LAM0312T (=ACCC 06527T=JCM 30849T).

Abstract
Strain G1(T) sp. nov. is the type strain of Paenibacillus gorillae a newly proposed species within the genus Paenibacillus. This strain, whose genome is described here, was isolated in France from the fecal sample of a wild western lowland gorilla from Cameroon. P. gorillae is a facultative anaerobic, Gram-negative, rod-shaped bacterium. Here we describe the features of this organism, together with the complete genome sequence and annotation. The 6,257,967 bp long genome (one chromosome but no plasmid) contains 5,856 protein-coding and 62 RNAs genes, including 60 tRNA genes.

This strain, whose genome is described here, was isolated in France from a stool sample of a wild Gorilla gorilla subsp. gorilla from Cameroon. G. massiliense is a facultatively anaerobic, Gram negative rod. Here we describe the features of this bacterium, together with the complete genome sequence and annotation. The 5,546,433 bp long genome (1 chromosome but no plasmid) contains 5,145 protein-coding and 76 RNA genes, including 69 tRNA genes.

Abstract
Two strains, designated K2814T and K282, were isolated from a compost pile in Japan. These strains were Gram-stain-variable, aerobic, motile and endospore-forming rods. The strains produced a characteristic brown non-diffusible pigment. The 16S rRNA gene sequences of the strains were 100 % identical and had high similarity to that of
Brevibacillus levickii
LMG 22481T (97.3 %). Phylogenetic analyses based on 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that these strains belong to the genus
Brevibacillus
. Strains K2814T and K282 contained meso-diaminopimelic acid in their cell walls. Strains K2814T and K282 contained MK-7 (96.0 and 97.2 %, respectively) and MK-8 (4.0 and 2.8 %, respectively) as the major and minor menaquinones, respectively. Their major cellular fatty acids were anteiso-C15 : 0, anteiso-C17 : 0, iso-C15 : 0 and iso-C17 : 0. The DNA G+C contents of strains K2814T and K282 were 48.8 and 49.8 mol%, respectively. Polar lipids of strain K2814T were composed of phosphatidyl-N-methylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, an unidentified phospholipid, three unidentified polar lipids, an unidentified aminophospholipid and an unidentified aminolipid. The level of DNA–DNA relatedness between strains K2814T and K282 was 99 or 100 %, and levels between strain K2814T and the type strains of seven related species of the genus
Brevibacillus
, including
Brevibacillus levickii
LMG 22481T, were below 59 %. From the chemotaxonomic and physiological data and the levels of DNA–DNA relatedness, these two strains should be classified as representing a novel species of the genus
Brevibacillus
, for which the name Brevibacillus fulvus sp. nov. (type strain K2814T = JCM 18162T = ATCC BAA-2417T = DSM 25523T) is proposed.

Abstract
Brevibacillus massiliensis strain phR(T) sp. nov. is the type strain of B. massiliensis sp. nov., a new species within the genus Brevibacillus. This strain was isolated from the fecal flora of a woman suffering from morbid obesity. B. massiliensis is a Gram-positive aerobic rod-shaped bacterium. Here we describe the features of this organism, together with the complete genome sequence and annotation. The 5,051,018 bp long genome (1 chromosome but no plasmid) contains 5,051 protein-coding and 84 RNA genes, and exhibits a G+C content of 53.1%.

Abstract
A Gram-positive bacterium, Brevibacillus sp. strain BAB-2500, was isolated as a lab contaminant in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India. The draft genome (5.3 Mb) of the strain possesses genes for the reduction of arsenate and aluminum. These findings might provide insights into the utilization of this strain for improving crop production.
