Abstract
Ionic conductivity of the polyethylene oxide-LiClO4 (PEOnLiClO4) solid polymer electrolyte (SPE) films with an EO:Li ratio (n) of 10, 12, 15, as well as the hybrid composite solid polymer electrolyte (CSPE) films of PEOnLiClO4 containing 50 wt% of cubic-Li7La3Zr2O12 (LLZO) sub-micron sized particles, have been studied by varying Li-salt content in the films. The complex AC dielectric permittivity and conductivity data obtained from electrical impedance measurements were fitted using a generalized power-law, including the effects of electrode polarization applied at low AC frequencies to obtain various relaxation times. In addition to increased mechanical and thermal robustness, the CSPE films show higher values of ionic conductivity, >10−4 S/cm at room temperature compared to those of SPE films with n = 12 and 15. On the contrary, the ionic conductivity of CSPE with n = 10 decreases by a factor of three compared to the corresponding SPE film due to increased polymer structural reorientation and Li-ion pairing effects. The Vogel–Tammann–Fulcher behavior of the temperature-dependent conductivity data indicates a close correlation between the ionic conductivity and polymer segmental relaxation. The PEO12LiClO4-LLZO film shows the lowest activation energy of ~0.05 eV.

Abstract
The influence of kinetic hydrate inhibitors on the process of natural gas hydrate nucleation was studied using the method of dielectric spectroscopy. The processes of gas hydrate formation and decomposition were monitored using the temperature dependence of the real component of the dielectric constant ε′(T). Analysis of the relaxation times τ and activation energy ΔE of the dielectric relaxation process revealed the inhibitor was involved in hydrogen bonding and the disruption of the local structures of water molecules.

Abstract
Organic-inorganic hybrid halide perovskites have emerged recently as highly promising materials for optoelectronics such as photovoltaics and photodetectors. A unique feature of these materials is ion diffusion that directly impacts the optoelectronic process by affecting the charge transport and trapping. In order to shed light on the ionic diffusion behavior, the hybrid perovskites MAPbI3 and MAPbI3 with minor doping of phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl-ester (MAPbI3-PCBM) thin-film capacitors were investigated in the presence of steady and dynamic visible illumination of different intensities. Light-induced capacitance, which increases monotonically with the increase of light intensity, was observed in the low-frequency range below 300 kHz of the electric field on both while differing quantitatively. Specifically, the large light-induced capacitance in the MAPbI3 capacitors can be obtained in the MAPbI3-PCBM ones in the dark. In addition, the increase of capacitance with light intensity is much less in the latter with electron trapping induced by PCBM. This result has revealed that the light-induced capacitance in MAPbI3 capacitors can be ascribed to the contribution of the additional charges across the capacitors associated with ionic diffusion activated by the illumination and that the effects on the capacitance will remain after the illumination is turned off due to residual photoexcited electrons trapped in the MAPbI3-PCBM sample.

Abstract
Here we report a first analytical approach to determine the spectral dependence of the complex permittivity function of molecular and macromolecular ionic conductors in the interfacial layers formed by electrode polarization effects. We show that a previous model of electrode polarization effects that was successfully applied for describing the dielectric behavior of ionic liquids ( Serghei, A.; Tress, M.; Sangoro, J. R.; Kremer, F. Electrode polarization and charge transport at solid interfaces. Phys. Rev. B 2009 , 80 , 184301 ) can be now generalized and applied for polymer/ionic liquid blends as well as for poly(ionic liquid)s. The determined dielectric function of the interfacial layers reveals a dramatic change in the charge transport process manifested by a large decrease in conductivity. Our approach brings the first evidence for a relaxation peak detected in the dielectric loss of the interfaces, which is attributed to an exchange process between the interface and the bulk. This study gives new insights into the mechanism of charge transport at interfaces and could thus contribute to a better correlation between the dielectric properties of ion conducting materials and their electrochemical behavior at interfaces.

Abstract
Based on the idea of defect migration as the principal mechanism in the dielectric relaxation of ice Ih, the concept of low-temperature dynamic crossover was proposed. It is known that at high temperatures, the diffusion of Bjerrum and ionic defects is high and their movement may be considered to be independent. Simple switching between these two mechanisms leads to a dynamic crossover at ∼235 K. By introducing coupling between the Bjerrum and ionic defects, it is possible to describe the smooth bend in the relaxation time at low temperatures in ice Ih. However, because the mobility of Bjerrum orientation defects slows down at low temperatures, they may create blockages for proton hopping. The trapping of ionic defects by L-D defects for a long period of time leads to an increase in the relaxation time and causes a low-temperature crossover. This model was validated by experimental dielectric measurements using various temperature protocols.

Abstract
PURPOSE This study explored the potential of combining the use of moisture sorption isotherms and dielectric relaxation profiles of starch and sodium starch glycolate (SSG) to probe the location of moisture in dried and hydrated samples. METHODS Starch and SSG samples, dried and hydrated, were prepared. For hydrated samples, their moisture contents were determined. The samples were probed by dielectric spectroscopy using a frequency band of 0.1 Hz to 1 MHz to investigate their moisture-related relaxation profiles. The moisture sorption and desorption isotherms of starch and SSG were generated using a vapor sorption analyzer, and modeled using the Guggenheim-Anderson-de Boer equation. RESULTS A clear high frequency relaxation process was detected in both dried and hydrated starches, while for dried starch, an additional slower low frequency process was also detected. The high frequency relaxation processes in hydrated and dried starches were assigned to the coupled starch-hydrated water relaxation. The low frequency relaxation in dried starch was attributed to the local chain motions of the starch backbone. No relaxation process associated with water was detected in both hydrated and dried SSG within the frequency and temperature range used in this study. The moisture sorption isotherms of SSG suggest the presence of high energy free water, which could have masked the relaxation process of the bound water during dielectric measurements. CONCLUSION The combined study of moisture sorption isotherms and dielectric spectroscopy was shown to be beneficial and complementary in probing the effects of moisture on the relaxation processes of starch and SSG.

Abstract
We have studied the dynamics of silver ions in AgI-doped Ag2O-SeO2-MoO3 mixed former glasses in wide frequency and temperature ranges. We have observed that the ionic conductivity exhibits a mixed glass network former effect for low AgI content. The scaling for the conductivity spectra shows that the mechanism of charge carrier dynamics is independent of temperature and composition. We have obtained a mobile Ag+ ion concentration from the Nernst-Einstein relation, which is found to be independent of temperature, but slightly dependent on composition. We have also obtained the characteristic mean square displacement of the silver ions from the mapping of the conductivity spectra in the time domain. It is observed that the composition dependence of the characteristic displacement is opposite to that of the conductivity. We have also studied the influence of the network structure of these glasses on ion dynamics using infrared spectra and established a correlation between the ion dynamics and the SeO32- structural units. It is observed that the available hopping sites for Ag+ ions increase in the glass network with the increase of non-bridging oxygens of SeO32- units.

Abstract
In the present paper, we have studied dynamics and relaxation of the charge carriers in polymethylmethacrylate-lithium bis(trifluoromethane sulfonyl)imide polymer electrolytes embedded with 1-butyl-1-methylpyrrolidinium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide ionic liquid. We have analyzed the frequency dependent conductivity spectra using the random free-energy barrier model coupled with the contribution of electrode polarization in the low frequency region. The temperature dependence of ionic conductivity, and relaxation time obtained from the analysis of the spectra exhibits Vogel-Tammann-Fulcher type behavior. The Barton-Nakajima-Namikawa relation is consistent with the results obtained from the random free-energy barrier model. The scaling of ac conductivity spectra has been performed to understand the effect of temperature as well as the composition on the relaxation mechanism. The analysis of the ac conductivity also clearly indicates the existence of a nearly constant loss phenomenon at low temperatures or at high frequencies.

Abstract
The main mechanism of the dielectric relaxation process of ordinary hexagonal ice (ice Ih) and its temperature dependence remains unclear. The most interesting and as yet unexplained feature of ice is the presence of the dynamical crossover in relaxation time behavior around Tc = 230 ± 3 K. Since there are no phase transitions in the ice at this temperature (first or second order), we cannot correlate the origin of this crossover with any structural change. Here we present a model according to which the temperature of the crossover is defined by the polarization mechanism. The dielectric relaxation driven by the diffusion of L-D orientational Bjerrum defects (at high temperature, T > Tc) is transformed into a dielectric relaxation dominated by the diffusion of intrinsic ionic H3O(+)/OH(-) defects (at low temperature, T < Tc). In the framework of the model, we propose an analytical equation for the complex dielectric permittivity that takes into account the contribution of both types of defects.
