Abstract
BACKGROUND Apart from classical elements in primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT), non-classical complications, including type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), are reported in some patients, but currently, they do not represent a parathyroidectomy (PTx) indication. OBJECTIVE to explore the latest data regarding glucose profile, particularly, T2DM and metabolic syndrome (MetS) in PHPT, including post-PTx. METHODS PubMed-based review included English-published original studies between January 2020 and December 2024 (n = 20). RESULTS Studied population: 764,485 subjects (female-to-male ratio of 1.26:1; 23,931 were PHPT patients vs. 740,502 controls). T2DM prevalence (n = 13; N = 763,645 patients; 55.92% females): 4-60% (higher vs. controls); for the largest study (N = 699,157) of 31.3%. Age-based analysis: higher T2DM prevalence at >50 vs. <50 years (14.4% vs. 2.6%, p < 0.001), but not all studies agreed. Concurrent vitamin D deficiency as a contributor to a higher risk had limited evidence. The association MetS-PHPT (n = 2) had no clear conclusion. Post-PTx showed the following: lower glycaemia, fasting insulin, insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) improvement, and reduced rate (but not all studies agreed). PHPT patients with prediabetes might represent the population sub-group with the highest post-PTx benefit. CONCLUSIONS The panel of PHPT-T2DM interplay remains heterogeneous. Data regarding post-PTx improvement of glucose disorders are still conflicting, recent findings suggested that surgery has beneficial effects, especially in patients with confirmed pre-existing prediabetes. Patients with the normocalcemic variant seemed to be less affected by the glucose-related disturbances, but further studies are needed. A better understanding of the intricate relationship between PHPT and glucose metabolism anomalies will help in providing optimal management to reduce the overall disease burden.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) is a common endocrine disease especially in postmenopausal women and in older adults, with elevated parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels by parathyroid glands. The main symptoms of PHPT are hypercalcemia, often associated with hypercalciuria, urolithiasis and bone demineralization that results in osteopenia or osteoporosis and increases overall fracture risk. Parathyroidectomy is today the only definitive treatment for patients to prevent worsening of symptoms. Minimally invasive targeted approach for parathyroidectomy can be offered to patients with well-localized disease, and combined with intraoperative PTH monitoring, the success rate reaches 95-97%; with short operative time, low complications rates and decreased hospital costs. To date, minimally invasive parathyroidectomy (MIP) can be performed under local anesthesia and most patients can be discharged on the same day of surgery or the following morning. The aim of this article is to summarize the current evidence of MIP under local anesthesia and its clinical outcomes to assess the effectiveness and safety of this procedure. EVIDENCE ACQUISITION We searched PubMed, Embase, Cochrane and Web of Science databases from their date of inception until 30th May 2024. Inclusion criteria consisted in articles from any country written in English reporting MIP under local anesthesia related clinical outcomes in humans. RCTs, quasi-RCTs, cross-sectional studies, retrospective and prospective cohort studies, case-control studies were included. EVIDENCE SYNTHESIS We identified 23 eligible studies that included 2470 adults (mostly female asymptomatic) with PHPT; follow-up duration varied from six months to 24 months. All studies were screened for assessments of quality based on Newcastle-Ottawa Scale and the risk of bias based on ROBIN-I of the included studies. The operative time, number of conversions to general anesthesia, hospital stay and complications was respectively: 43.86 minutes, with 114 conversions to general anesthesia, mean hospitalization time was 16.83±8.62 hours and complications reported in 71 patients. Previously of surgery, the abnormal parathyroid gland is localized using multiplexed ion beam imaging (MIBI) plus ultrasound (US) in 12 studies, only MIBI in three studies, thallium-technetium scan plus US in three studies, single-photon-emission computed tomography (SPECT) plus US in one study and a combination of MIBI, US, SPECT, CT and magnet resonance in one study. The mean preoperative value of PTH and serum calcium was 277.44 pg/mL and 11.49 mg/dL respectively; while the mean postoperative value of PTH and serum calcium was 46.18 pg/mL and 9.11 mg/dL respectively. At the definitive histology the most of pathology is adenoma with 542 cases reported, followed by hyperplasia with 35 cases and only 20 cases of carcinoma. CONCLUSIONS Focused mini-invasive parathyroidectomy under local anesthesia, guided by positive preoperative localization exams and accurate laboratory data, could be a feasible and effective surgical technique to cure primary hyperparathyroidism, with reduced operative time, a small surgical incision, shorter hospitalization stay and a lower occurrence of postoperative complications.

Abstract
Objectives: Primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) is associated with normal or elevated calcium levels and affects bone mineral density. The proportion of cases predisposed to metabolic bone disease is unknown in patients with PHPT. The aim of this study was to assess bone mineral density and bone quality in patients with normo- or hypercalcemic primary hyperparathyroidism undergoing baseline parathyroid gland assessment with [18F]fluorocholine PET/CT imaging. Methods: A total of 140 consecutive patients were enrolled in this observational study. All patients with normo- or hypercalcemic primary hyperparathyroidism underwent dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) for assessment of bone mineral density (BMD) and trabecular bone score (TBS). [18F]fluorocholine PET/CT was performed in all patients for the detection and localization of parathyroid adenoma. Hyper- and normocalcemic patients were compared with regard to the proportion of osteoporosis and osteopenia, T-Score, TBS, serum calcium, phosphorus and parathyroid hormone levels, the maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) in PET/CT imaging, and laboratory results. Results: The majority of patients was female (88.57%) and had a pathologic bone mineral density (52.86%). Overall, 33 patients had osteoporosis and 41 osteopenia. The mean lumbar T-Score was -1.48 (SD 1.37) and the T-Score of the femoral neck was -1.21 (SD 0.92). Mean TBS was also decreased (-2.13). No difference was found between normo- or hypercalcemic patients regarding bone metabolism and imaging parameters. Conclusions: More than half of patients with normo- or hypercalcemic PHPT showed abnormal BMD. First-line [18F]fluorocholine PET/CT identified parathyroid adenoma in a high proportion of patients, even in patients with normocalcemic PHPT. The early evaluation of metabolic bone disease seems desirable in clinical management of females with PHPT.

Abstract
Normocalcemic primary hyperparathyroidism (NPHPT), a variant of primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) characterized by persistently elevated parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels and normal serum calcium, has gained recognition as a substantial subset of PHPT cases. Despite its increasing prevalence, the precise pathophysiology and natural progression of NPHPT remain enigmatic. This in-depth literature review explores recent advancements in our understanding of NPHPT, encompassing pathophysiology, clinical presentation, diagnostic approaches, medical and surgical management options. By synthesizing this wealth of information, this review aims to contribute to a more nuanced and informed approach to the treatment of patients grappling with NPHPT. As our understanding of the condition continues to evolve, the knowledge gathered from this review has the potential to significantly enhance the quality of care and outcomes for individuals afflicted with NPHPT, ultimately improving their overall well-being and prognosis.

Abstract
CONTEXT Previous studies, including our own, have demonstrated a highly variable incidence of primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) from year to year. OBJECTIVE We planned to provide a current estimate of the incidence and prevalence of PHPT in a community-based study. METHODS A population-based retrospective follow-up study was conducted in Tayside (Scotland) from 2007 to 2018. Record-linkage technology (demography, biochemistry, prescribing, hospital admissions, radiology, and mortality data) was used to identify all patients. Cases of PHPT were defined as those with at least 2 raised serum corrected calcium concentration CCA (> 2.55 mmol/L) and/or hospital admissions with PHPT diagnoses and/or surgery records with parathyroidectomy during the follow-up period. The number of prevalent and incident cases of PHPT per calendar year by age and sex were estimated. RESULTS A total of 2118 people (72.3% female, mean age 65 years) were identified with an incident case of PHPT. The overall prevalence of PHPT over the 12 years of the study was 0.84% (95% CI, 0.68%-1.02%), steadily increasing from 0.71% in 2007 to 1.02% in 2018. From 2008, the incidence of PHPT was relatively stable from 4 to 6 cases per 10 000 person-years, declining from 11.5 per 10 000 person-years in 2007. The incidence varied from 0.59 per 10 000 person-years (95% CI, 0.40%-0.77%) for those aged 20 to 29 years, to 12.4 per 10 000 person-years (95% CI, 11.2%-13.3%) in those aged 70 to 79 years. Incidence of PHPT was 2.5 times higher in women than in men. CONCLUSION This study is the first showing a relatively steady annual incidence of PHPT at 4 to 6 per 10 000 person-years. This population-based study reports a PHPT prevalence of 0.84%.

Abstract
Tumors of the parathyroid glands, when associated with PTH (parathyroid hormone) excess, display a large area of complications; in addition to the classical clinical picture of primary hyperparathyroidism (PHP), a complex panel of other symptoms/signs can be identified, including memory and cognitive impairment, chronic asthenia/fatigue, reduced muscle functionality, depressive mood, non-specific bone pain, and loss of sleep quality. The perception of quality of life (QoL) can be supplementarily enhanced by their progressive onset, which makes many patients not be fully aware of them. Their improvement was reported very early after parathyroidectomy (PTx), yet the level of statistical evidence does not qualify these non-classical elements as standalone indications for PTx. Our objective is introducing an up-to-date on QoL scores with regards to the patients diagnosed with PHP, particularly taking into consideration PHP management from baseline to post-operatory outcome, including in cases with multiple endocrine neoplasia. This is a narrative review of literature. We revised full-length papers published in English through PubMed research conducted between January 2018 and May 2023 by using the key words "quality of life" and "primary hyperparathyroidism". We particularly looked at data on self-reported QoL (through questionnaires). We excluded from the search the studies focused on non-PTH related hypercalcemia, secondary, and/or renal/tertiary hyperparathyroidism, and vitamin D supplementation. Overall, we identified 76 papers and selected for the final analysis 16 original studies on QoL and PHP (a total of 1327 subjects diagnosed with syndromic and non-syndromic PHP). The studies with the largest number of individuals were of 92, 104, 110, 134, 159, as well as 191. A few cohorts (n = 5) were of small size (between 20 and 40 patients in each of them). Concerning the study design, except for 2 papers, all the mentioned studies provided longitudinal information, particularly the timeframe from baseline (before PTx) and after surgery. The post-operatory follow-up was of 3-6 months, but mostly between 1 and 3 years (maximum a decade of surveillance). The age of the patients varies between medians of 56, 62, 64, and 68 years. Most frequent questionnaires were SF-36, PHPQoL, and PAS. Despite not being unanimously similar, an overall reduced score of QoL in patients with PHP versus controls was registered, as well as general improvement following PTx. Variations of QoL results might have a multifactorial background from different comorbidities, studied populations, technical aspects of collecting the data, etc. QoL scores in PHP represents a complex heterogeneous picture, from their correlation with clinical features and lab assays (e.g., the level of serum calcium), the associated comorbidities (such as multiple endocrine neoplasia syndromes), up to the assessment of the QoL improvement after parathyroidectomy (PTx). While current studies do not unanimously agree on each QoL domain, the assessment of QoL might represent a supplementary argument to consider when deciding for PTx, especially in asymptomatic cases and in patients who do not fit into well-known categories of surgery candidates, according to current guidelines, thus assessing QoL in PHP is part of a current research gap. QoL evaluation in PHP remains an open issue, towards which awareness should be cultivated by both endocrinologists and surgeons. The introduction of a routine evaluation of the QoL scores in patients, as well as the selection of the most appropriate questionnaire(s), represents an open chapter thus awareness in mandatory.

Abstract
Primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) is classically characterized by hypercalcemia with elevated or inappropriately normal parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels. Elevated PTH levels in the presence of normal calcium levels are not infrequently found during the evaluation of metabolic bone disorders or kidney stone disease. This can be caused by secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT) or normocalcemic primary hyperparathyroidism (NPHPT). NPHPT is due to autonomous parathyroid function whereas SHPT is caused by a physiologic stimulation to PTH secretion. Many medical conditions and medications can contribute to SHPT, and differentiation between SHPT and NPHPT may be difficult. Cases are presented to illustrate examples. In this paper, we review the distinction between SHPT and NPHPT as well as end organ effects of NPHPT and outcomes of surgery in NPHPT. We suggest that the diagnosis of NPHPT be made only after careful exclusion of causes of SHPT and consideration of medications that can increase PTH secretion. Further, we advise a conservative approach to surgery in NPHPT.

Abstract
Primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) is a hypercalcemic disorder that occurs when one or more parathyroid glands produces excessive parathyroid hormone (PTH). PHPT is typically treated with surgery, and it remains the only definitive therapy, whose techniques have evolved over previous decades. Advances in preoperative localization exams and the intraoperative PTH monitoring have become the cornerstones of recent parathyroidectomy techniques, as minimally invasive techniques are appropriate for most patients. Nevertheless, these techniques, are not suitable for PHPT patients who are at risk for multiglandular disease, especially in those who present with familial forms of PHPT that require bilateral neck exploration. This manuscript also explores other conditions that warrant special consideration during surgical treatment for PHPT: normocalcemic primary hyperparathyroidism, pregnancy, reoperation for persistent or recurrent PHPT, parathyroid carcinoma, and familial and genetic forms of hyperparathyroidism.

Abstract
The 2022 WHO classification reflects increases in the knowledge of the underlying pathogenesis of parathyroid disease. In addition to the classic characteristic features of parathyroid neoplasms, subtleties in histologic features which may indicate an underlying genetic abnormality reflect increased understanding of the clinical manifestations, histologic, and genetic correlation in parathyroid disease. The importance of underlying genetic aberrancies is emphasized due to their significance to the care of the patient. Traditionally, the term "parathyroid hyperplasia" has been applied to multiglandular parathyroid disease; however, the concept of hyperplasia is generally no longer supported in the context of primary hyperparathyroidism since affected glands are usually composed of multiple "clonal" neoplastic proliferations. In light of these findings and management implications for patient care, the 2022 WHO classification endorses primary hyperparathyroidism-related multiglandular parathyroid disease (multiglandular multiple parathyroid adenomas) as a germline susceptibility-driven multiglandular parathyroid neoplasia. From such a perspective, pathologists can provide additional value to genetic triaging by recognizing morphological and immunohistochemical harbingers of MEN1, CDKN1B, MAX, and CDC73-related manifestations. In the current WHO classification, the term "parathyroid hyperplasia" is now used primarily in the setting of secondary hyperplasia which is most often caused by chronic renal failure. In addition to expansion in the histological features, including those that may be suggestive of an underlying genetic abnormality, there are additional nomenclature changes in the 2022 WHO classification reflecting increased understanding of the underlying pathogenesis of parathyroid disease. The new classification no longer endorses the use of "atypical parathyroid adenoma". This entity is now being replaced with the term of "atypical parathyroid tumor" to reflect a parathyroid neoplasm of uncertain malignant potential. The differential diagnoses of atypical parathyroid tumor are discussed along with the details of worrisome clinical and laboratory findings, and also features that define atypical histological and immunohistochemical findings to qualify for this diagnosis. The histological definition of parathyroid carcinoma still requires one of the following findings: (i) angioinvasion (vascular invasion) characterized by tumor invading through a vessel wall and associated thrombus, or intravascular tumor cells admixed with thrombus, (ii) lymphatic invasion, (iii) perineural (intraneural) invasion, (iv) local malignant invasion into adjacent anatomic structures, or (v) histologically/cytologically documented metastatic disease. In parathyroid carcinomas, the documentation of mitotic activity (e.g., mitoses per 10mm2) and Ki67 labeling index is recommended. Furthermore, the importance of complete submission of parathyroidectomy specimens for microscopic examination, and the crucial role of multiple levels along with ancillary biomarkers have expanded the diagnostic workup of atypical parathyroid tumors and parathyroid carcinoma to ensure accurate characterization of parathyroid neoplasms. The concept of parafibromin deficiency has been expanded upon and term "parafibromin deficient parathyroid neoplasm" is applied to a parathyroid neoplasm showing complete absence of nuclear parafibromin immunoreactivity. Nucleolar loss is considered as abnormal finding that requires further molecular testing to confirm its biological significance. The 2022 WHO classification emphasizes the role of molecular immunohistochemistry in parathyroid disease. By adopting a question-answer framework, this review highlights advances in knowledge of histological features, ancillary studies, and associated genetic findings that increase the understanding of the underlying pathogenesis of parathyroid disease that are now reflected in the updated classification and new entities in the 2022 WHO classification.

Abstract
Primary hyperparathyroidism is a common endocrine disorder. It used to present as a highly symptomatic disease before the advent of the multichannel autoanalyzer, now usually presenting as mild asymptomatic hypercalcemia. A newer presentation has been increasingly identified in the past two decades, normocalcemic primary hyperparathyroidism, presenting with elevated parathyroid hormone concentrations and consistently normal serum calcium. These patients are usually symptomatic, with parathyroid hormone levels measured in the evaluation for kidney stones or osteoporosis. It is important to exclude causes of secondary hyperparathyroidism. This review will focus on the evaluation and management of elevated parathyroid hormone levels in normocalcemic patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Bone disease in primary hyperparathyroidism is a clear indication for surgical treatment. However, it is not known whether surgery benefits hypercalcemic primary hyperparathyroidism and normocalcemic primary hyperparathyroidism equally. The aim of our study was to evaluate the bone changes in patients undergoing parathyroidectomy based on the biochemical profile 1 and 2 years after surgery. METHODS This prospective study included 87 consecutive patients diagnosed with primary hyperparathyroidism who underwent surgery between 2016 and 2018. Bone densitometry (1/3 distal radius, lumbar, and femur) and bone remodeling markers (osteocalcin, type 1 procollagen [P1NP], β-cross-linked telopeptide of type I collagen [BCTX]) were performed preoperatively and postoperatively. Postoperative changes in bone mineral density and bone markers were compared and evaluated according to the clinical characteristics and the individual biochemical profile. RESULTS One year after surgery, all patients showed an increase in bone mineral density at the lumbar site (mean, 0.029 g/cm2; range, 0.017-0.04; P < .001) and femur neck (mean, 0.025 g/cm2; range, 0.002-0.05; P < .001); however, there were no changes in the distal third of the radius (mean, -0.003 g/cm2; range, -0.008 to 0.002; P = NS). There were no significant differences when comparing normocalcemic primary hyperparathyroidism and hypercalcemic primary hyperparathyroidism. Serum osteocalcin (37 ± 17.41), P1NP (67.53 ± 31.81) and BCTX (0.64 ± 0.37) levels were elevated before surgery. One year after the surgery, we observed a significant decrease in P1NP (33.05 ± 13.16, P = .001), osteocalcin (15.80 ± 6.19, P = .001), and BCTX (0.26 ± 0.32, P < .001) levels. CONCLUSION Our findings indicate that parathyroidectomy has similar benefits for normocalcemic primary hyperparathyroidism and hypercalcemic primary hyperparathyroidism in terms of bone improvement. Although the most substantial improvement occurred during the first postoperative year in both groups, we consider that studies with longer follow-up are warranted.

Abstract
Normocalcemic primary hyperparathyroidism is an entity on which several issues about its clinical management remains unclear. This is reflected in the main current guidelines, where there are no evidence-based specific recommendations. Through an exhaustive review of current literature, a clinical management algorithm for these patients is proposed. We consider the diagnosis criteria, the differential diagnosis, the clinical manifestations, and the treatment indications. When indicated, we also review the preoperative locations techniques and the surgical approach. Finally, when surgical treatment is not indicated, the patient is not a candidate to surgery or refuse surgical management, we review the medical treatment options and the follow-up schemes.

Abstract
Surgical intervention remains the mainstay of treatment of hyperparathyroidism and provides the highest chance at cure. After the disease is confirmed by biochemical testing, surgeons must use a combination of patient clinical history and radiographic imaging to determine the most appropriate surgical strategy. Through either minimally invasive parathyroidectomy or bilateral cervical exploration, surgeons provide high rates of cure for hyperparathyroidism with low rates of persistence or recurrence.

Abstract
The parathyroid glands, one of the last organs to be discovered, are responsible for maintaining calcium homeostasis, and they continue to present the clinician with diagnostic and management challenges that are reviewed herein. Primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) comprises the vast majority of pathology of the parathyroid glands. The classic variant, presenting with elevated calcium and parathyroid hormone levels, has been studied extensively, but the current body of literature has added to our understanding of normocalcemic and normohormonal variants of PHPT, as well as syndromic forms of PHPT. All variants can lead to bone loss, kidney stones, declining renal function, and a variety of neurocognitive, gastrointestinal, and musculoskeletal complaints, although the majority of PHPT today is asymptomatic. Surgery remains the definitive treatment for PHPT, and advances in screening, evolving indications for surgery, new imaging modalities, and improvements in intra-operative methods have greatly changed the landscape. Surgery continues to produce excellent results in the hands of an experienced parathyroid surgeon. For those patients who are not candidates for surgery, therapeutic advances in medical management allow for improved control of the hypercalcemic state. Parathyroid cancer is extremely rare; the diagnosis is often made intra-operatively or on final pathology, and recurrence is common. The mainstay of treatment is normalization of serum calcium via surgery and medical adjuncts.

Abstract
Primary hyperparathyroidism is a relatively common endocrine disorder, which may be hereditary. This report describes clinical, biochemical, radiographic, and genetic findings, the latter obtained using next generation sequencing (NGS), in three consanguineous patients. Gene panels in NGS consisted of 5 or 70 genes, including MEN1 and RET. The first patient suffered from recurrent primary hyperparathyroidism. Primary hyperparathyroidism and pituitary microadenomas were afterwards diagnosed in two of her daughters. No clinical nor radiological features of gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors were found. All three family members were heterozygous for MEN1 NM_130799: c.1267T>A transversion, which is predicted to result in substitution of tryptophan with arginine in position 423. Additionally, the first patient was also a carrier of RET NM_020975: c.1946C>T missense mutation, which was not present in two other family members. We describe a family with a novel heterozygous mutation (NM_130799: c.1267T>A) in MEN1 gene and postulate that it leads to MEN1 syndrome. The study underlies the importance of genetic testing in primary hyperparathyroidism in personalizing patients’ care.

Abstract
We have previously described increased fasting plasma glucose levels in patients with normocalcemic primary hyperparathyroidism (NPHPT) and co-existing prediabetes, compared to prediabetes per se. This study evaluated the effect of parathyroidectomy (PTx) (Group A), versus conservative follow-up (Group B), in a small cohort of patients with co-existing NPHPT and prediabetes. Sixteen patients were categorized in each group. Glycemic parameters (levels of fasting glucose (fGlu), glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c), and fasting insulin (fIns)), the homeostasis model assessment for estimating insulin secretion (HOMA-B) and resistance (HOMA-IR), and a 75-g oral glucose tolerance test were evaluated at baseline and after 32 weeks for both groups. Measurements at baseline were not significantly different between Groups A and B, respectively: fGlu (119.4 ± 2.8 vs. 118.2 ± 1.8 mg/dL, p = 0.451), HbA1c (5.84 ± 0.3 %vs. 5.86 ± 0.4%, p = 0.411), HOMA-IR (3.1 ± 1.2 vs. 2.9 ± 0.2, p = 0.213), HOMA-B (112.9 ± 31.8 vs. 116.9 ± 21.0%, p = 0.312), fIns (11.0 ± 2.3 vs. 12.8 ± 1.4 μIU/mL, p = 0.731), and 2-h post-load glucose concentrations (163.2 ± 3.2 vs. 167.2 ± 3.2 mg/dL, p = 0.371). fGlu levels demonstrated a positive correlation with PTH concentrations for both groups (Group A, rho = 0.374, p = 0.005, and Group B, rho = 0.359, p = 0.008). At the end of follow-up, Group A demonstrated significant improvements after PTx compared to the baseline: fGlu ((119.4 ± 2.8 vs. 111.2 ± 1.9 mg/dL, p = 0.021) (−8.2 ± 0.6 mg/dL)), and 2-h post-load glucose concentrations ((163.2 ± 3.2 vs. 144.4 ± 3.2 mg/dL, p = 0.041), (−18.8 ± 0.3 mg/dL)). For Group B, results demonstrated non-significant differences: fGlu ((118.2 ± 1.8 vs. 117.6 ± 2.3 mg/dL, p = 0.031), (−0.6 ± 0.2 mg/dL)), and 2-h post-load glucose concentrations ((167.2 ± 2.7 vs. 176.2 ± 3.2 mg/dL, p = 0.781), (+9.0 ± 0.8 mg/dL)). We conclude that PTx for individuals with NPHPT and prediabetes may improve their glucose homeostasis when compared with conservative follow-up, after 8 months of follow-up.
