Abstract
Chronic respiratory disease can exacerbate the normal physiological changes in ventilation observed in healthy individuals during sleep, leading to sleep-disordered breathing, nocturnal hypoventilation, sleep disruption and chronic respiratory failure. Therefore, patients with obesity, slowly and rapidly progressive neuromuscular disease and chronic obstructive airways disease report poor sleep quality. Non-invasive ventilation (NIV) is a complex intervention used to treat sleep-disordered breathing and nocturnal hypoventilation with overnight physiological studies demonstrating improvement in sleep-disordered breathing and nocturnal hypoventilation, and clinical trials demonstrating improved outcomes for patients. However, the impact on subjective and objective sleep quality is dependent on the tools used to measure sleep quality and the patient population. As home NIV becomes more commonly used, there is a need to conduct studies focused on sleep quality, and the relationship between sleep quality and health-related quality of life, in all patient groups, in order to allow the clinician to provide clear patient-centred information.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), also known as chronic diseases that are long-lasting, are considered the major cause of death and disability worldwide, and the six pillars of lifestyle medicine (nutrition, exercise, toxic control, stress management, restorative sleep, and social connection) play an important role in a holistic management of their prevention and treatment. In addition, medical guidelines are the most accepted documents with recommendations to manage NCDs. OBJECTIVE The present study aims to analyze the lack of lifestyle pillars concerning the major Brazilian medical guidelines for NCDs and identify evidence in the literature that could justify their inclusion in the documents. METHOD Brazilian guidelines were selected according to the most relevant causes of death in Brazil, given by the Mortality Information System, published by the Brazilian Ministry of Health in 2019. Journals were screened in the PUBMED library according to the disease and non-mentioned pillars of lifestyle. RESULTS Relevant causes of deaths in Brazil are acute myocardial infarction (AMI), diabetes mellitus (DM), and chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD). Six guidelines related to these NCDs were identified, and all address aspects of lifestyle, but only one, regarding cardiovascular prevention, highlights all six pillars. Despite this, a literature search involving over 50 articles showed that there is evidence that all the pillars can help control each of these NCDs. CONCLUSION Rarely are the six pillars of lifestyle contemplated in Brazilian guidelines for AMI, DM, and COPD. The literature review identified evidence of all lifestyle pillars to offer a holistic approach for the management and prevention of NCDs.

Abstract
Objective This study investigated the consistency and determined the optimal threshold values of three scales in the diagnosis of insomnia of ischemic stroke (IS) patients. Methods Participants in this study consisted of 569 acute IS patients. All 569 patients completed the assessment of the three insomnia scales. Insomnia of IS patients were assessed by Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI), Insomnia Severity Index (ISI), and Athens insomnia scale (AIS). Also, basic patient information, neurological function, and activities of daily living were assessed. General information was compared between the insomnia group and the no-insomnia group. Cronbach's α coefficients, Cohen's Kappa consistency, Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve and DeLong's test analysis were used to analyze the reliability and diagnostic validity of PSQI, ISI, and AIS. Results The PSQI and ISI showed high reliability with Cronbach's α of 0.875 and 0.858, respectively, while the AIS had an α coefficient of 0.734, demonstrating acceptable reliability. The PSQI, ISI, and AIS showed outstanding diagnostic ability with an AUC of 0.960 (95% CI: 0.946, 0.974), 0.911 (95% CI: 0.882, 0.941), and 0.876 (95% CI:0.837, 0.916). The best diagnostic cutoffs for PSQI, ISI, and AIS are ≥9, ≥15, and ≥8. Conclusion Each of the three questionnaires has advantages and disadvantages when assessing insomnia. In the evaluation of insomnia in IS patients, the best questionnaire selection should be made according to the purpose of clinical evaluation and considering the sensitivity and specificity.

Abstract
This study aims to compare the mental health of patients with asthma and COPD in terms of anxiety, depression, and sleep quality and to examine the factors that predict sleep disturbance, anxiety, and depressive symptoms. Methods This quantitative cross-sectional study employed convenience sampling to enroll 200 patients with asthma and 190 patients with COPD. Data were gathered using a standardized self-administered questionnaire that contained sections on patients' characteristics, the Sleep Quality, Anxiety, and Depression. Results The prevalence of poor sleep quality was 17.5 and 32.6% among asthmatic and COPD patients, respectively. The incidence of anxiety and depression was 38 and 49.5% among the patients with asthma, respectively. Their prevalence in patients with COPD was 48.9 and 34.7%, respectively. The multivariate regression analysis showed that marital status (married), BMI, education level (pre-university level), presence of comorbid illness, and depression were significant predictors of PSQI in asthmatic patients. Moreover, age, gender (male), marital status (married), education level (pre-university level), depression, and anxiety were significant predictors of PSQI among COPD participants. According to this study, COPD, and asthma pose serious health risks, including reduced sleep quality, anxiety, and depression.

Purpose
Study the impact of impaired sleep quality on symptom change and future exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients.
Methods
This was a prospective study. Patients with COPD were recruited into the study and followed up for one year. Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) was collected at baseline. Symptom change was assessed with Minimum clinically important difference (MCID) in COPD Assessment Test (CAT) at 6-month visit, which is an indicator to assess symptom improvement. Exacerbation was recorded during the one-year visit. PSQI score > 5 was defined as poor sleep quality, whereas PSQI score ≤ 5 was defined as good sleep quality. MCID was defined as attaining a CAT decrease ≥ 2.
Results
A total of 461 patients were enrolled for final analysis. Two hundred twenty-eight (49.4%) patients had poor sleep quality. Overall, 224 (48.6%) patients attained MCID at 6-month visit and the incidence of exacerbation during the one-year visit was 39.3%. Fewer patients with impaired sleep quality achieved MCID than patients with good sleep quality. Good sleepers were significantly more likely to attain MCID (OR: 3.112, p < 0.001) than poor sleepers. Fewer poor sleepers in GOLD A and D groups attained MCID with ICS/LABA, and fewer poor sleepers in the GOLD D group attained MCID with ICS/LABA/LAMA than good sleepers. Poor sleep quality was a greater risk factor of future exacerbation in Cox regression analysis. The ROC curves showed that PSQI score had a predictive capacity for future exacerbation. More patients with poor sleep quality experienced future exacerbation in GOLD B and D group with treatment of ICS/LABA/LAMA compared to good sleepers.
Conclusions
COPD patients with impaired sleep quality were less likely to achieve symptom improvement and were at increased risk of future exacerbation compared to patients with good sleep quality. Besides, sleep disturbance may affect the symptom improvement and future exacerbation of patients with different inhaled medication or in different GOLD groups.

Abstract
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) are common diseases that strongly impact the quality and length of life. Their coexistence is determined by overlap syndrome (OS). This systematic review aims to define the significance of these comorbidities according to the current state of knowledge. For this systematic review, we searched PubMed, Scopus, and Cochrane for studies published between 2018 and 26 October 2022, to find original, observational, human studies published in English, where the diagnosis of COPD was according to the Global Initiative for Obstructive Lung Disease guidelines and the diagnosis of OSA was based on polysomnography. The quality of studies was assessed using the Newcastle-Ottawa quality assessment tool for cohort and case-control studies, as well as its modification for cross-sectional studies. Of the 1548 records identified, 38 were eligible and included in this systematic review. The included studies covered a total population of 27,064 participants. This paper summarizes the most important, up-to-date information regarding OS, including the prevalence, meaning of age/gender/body mass index, polysomnography findings, pulmonary function, comorbidities, predicting OSA among COPD patients, and treatment of this syndrome.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The study was aimed to determine the prevalence and contributing factors of insomnia among patients with bronchial asthma. DESIGN A multicentre cross-sectional survey was used. SETTING This study was carried out from January to March 2022 in three university comprehensive specialised hospitals in Northwest Ethiopia. PARTICIPANTS 422 patients with bronchial asthma were approached of which 93.8% completed the survey. OUTCOMES The degree of asthma control and the severity of insomnia were evaluated using the Asthma Control Test and Insomnia Severity Index (ISI), respectively. The characteristics of the participants were presented, arranged and summarised using descriptive statistical analysis, and correlations between predictors and outcome variables were examined using logistic regression. The cut-off point was a p value of 0.05. RESULTS Participants' ages ranged from 33.6 to 65.2 years on average. Just under three-fourths (71.4%) of the participants had at least one episode of insomnia as per the ISI measurement (score ≥10). The odds of insomnia episodes were about 5.4 and 1.93 times higher in patients with uncontrolled asthma and partially controlled asthma status, with adjusted OR (AOR)=5.4 (95% CI 4.4 to 6.79, p<0.001) and AOR=1.93 (95% CI 1.21 to 4.11, p<0.001), respectively. CONCLUSION Insomnia episodes were substantially higher in bronchial patients with asthma. Insomnia is accompanied by asthma severity, and uncontrolled asthma and partially controlled asthma status are the two most determining factors for experiencing sleep disturbance. Furthermore, a prospective follow-up study must determine the real association found between insomnia and asthma control.

Abstract
The COVID-19 spread rapidly all over the world and pandemic process has negatively affected nurses. Sleep disorders and depression are among these negative effects. Managers' awareness of problems experienced by nurses and taking precautions will increase employee and patient satisfaction and provide quality patient care. The study was conducted in descriptive, cross-sectional and correlational design to explain nurses' sleep quality and depression levels and relationship between them during the COVID-19 pandemic with 142 nurses who completed Personel Information Form, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and Beck Depression Index (BDI). Sleep quality of nurses (64.8%) was poor, 33.1% had depression, and high school education, having a chronic illness and PSQI score increased the risk of depression level of nurses. Results highlight COVID-19 pandemic affected nurses' sleep quality and depression levels. All managers should be pioneers in providing psychological support to nurses and preparing and implementing a program for prevention of insomnia and depression.

Abstract
Purpose To explore the correlations between sleep quality and depression and anxiety in hospitalized patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD). Methods A total of 131 AECOPD patients treated at No.6th People's Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School from January 2018 to December 2020 were selected and divided into the classes I (n = 30), II (n = 23), III (n = 37), and IV (n = 41) based on the severity of AECOPD. The Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) and the hospital anxiety and depression scale (HADS) were employed to assess the quality of sleep and anxiety/depression in AECOPD patients. The Pearson correlation analysis explored the associations between PSQI score and HADS anxiety/depression score. Binary logistic regression was utilized to determine risk factors for anxiety/depression in AECOPD patients. Results The PSQI score, HADS anxiety score, and HADS depression score in patients with AECOPD class III and class IV were significantly higher than those of classes I and II. The severe anxiety and depression ratio were significantly different among patients with classes I-IV AECOPD. The severity of AECOPD was significantly correlated with the PSQI score (r = 0.51, P < 0.001), HADS anxiety score (r = 0.66, P < 0.001), and HADS anxiety score (r = 0.65, P < 0.001). Binary logistic regression analysis showed that the COPD duration, the severity of AECOPD, and PSQI score were the risk factors for anxiety and depression in patients with AECOPD. Conclusions Poor sleep quality, anxiety, and depression are common in patients with AECOPD. Improvement of sleep quality may help to alleviate anxiety and depression in AECOPD patients.

Abstract
Abstract Physical activity (PA), sedentary behaviour (SB) and sleep are important lifestyle behaviours associated with chronic respiratory disease (CRD) morbidity and mortality. These behaviours need to be understood in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC) to develop appropriate interventions. Purpose Where and how have free-living PA, SB and sleep data been collected for adults living with CRD in LMIC? What are the free-living PA, SB and sleep levels of adults living with CRD? Patients and Methods The literature on free-living PA, SB and sleep of people living with CRD in LMIC was systematically reviewed in five relevant scientific databases. The review included empirical studies conducted in LMIC, reported in any language. Reviewers screened the articles and extracted data on prevalence, levels and measurement approach of PA, SB and sleep using a standardised form. Quality of reporting was assessed using bespoke criteria. Results Of 89 articles, most were conducted in Brazil (n=43). PA was the commonest behaviour measured (n=66). Questionnaires (n=52) were more commonly used to measure physical behaviours than device-based (n=37) methods. International Physical Activity Questionnaire was the commonest for measuring PA/SB (n=11). For sleep, most studies used Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (n=18). The most common ways of reporting were steps per day (n=21), energy expenditure (n=21), sedentary time (n=16), standing time (n=13), sitting time (n=11), lying time (n=10) and overall sleep quality (n=32). Studies revealed low PA levels [steps per day (range 2669-7490steps/day)], sedentary lifestyles [sitting time (range 283-418min/day); standing time (range 139-270min/day); lying time (range 76-119min/day)] and poor sleep quality (range 33-100%) among adults with CRD in LMIC. Conclusion Data support low PA levels, sedentary lifestyles and poor sleep among people in LMIC living with CRDs. More studies are needed in more diverse populations and would benefit from a harmonised approach to data collection for international comparisons.

Abstract
Background and objective Asthma is a chronic recurring respiratory disease, and its prevalence is on the rise. A drop in the quality of life (QoL), as well as sleep problems, has been reported in asthmatic patients in the literature. This study was conducted to determine the relationship between QoL and sleep quality in asthmatic patients. Methods This cross-sectional study recruited 76 diagnosed asthmatic outpatients from our university clinic. The subjects completed the self-administered 36-Item Short-Form Health Survey QoL questionnaire (SF-36) and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) assessment. Results The study results revealed poor sleep quality in 55 (72.4%) of the subjects. The total sleep quality scores significantly and negatively correlated with the physical and mental components of QoL (moderate, p=0.00). All QoL subscales were significantly higher in patients with good sleep quality (PSQI: <5, p<0.00). Logistic regression analysis showed that good sleep quality (modified) could predict a mental component score (MCS) of more than 64. Conclusion Poor sleep quality can bring down the scores of all QoL components in asthma patients and is the best predictor of their QoL. Therefore, sleep quality and QoL indicators could be applied as part of a better approach to classification, management, and control of asthma.

Abstract
Sleep disturbances are commonly reported by patients with asthma. However, the prevalence of sleep disturbance and its association with the level of asthma control is unknown. The primary objective was to determine the prevalence of sleep disturbance among Saudi adult asthmatic patients attending pulmonary clinics at King Abdulaziz Medical City (KAMC). The study also aimed to compare sleep quality between controlled and uncontrolled asthma patients. The study was carried out in the outpatient pulmonary clinics at KAMC and utilized a cross-sectional survey. The survey included five different questionnaires: asthma control test and questionnaires related to the quality of sleep (Pittsburgh sleep quality index [PSQI], Epworth sleepiness scale [ESS], Berlin questionnaire [a measure of obstructive sleep apnea risk], and insomnia severity index [ISI]). Among the 200 asthma patients, 66% suffered from poor sleep quality (PSQI > 5), 43% were at high risk for obstructive sleep apnea, 25% had excessive daytime sleepiness (ESS > 10), and 46.5% had significant clinical insomnia (ISI ≥ 10). Poor sleep quality was less common in patients with well-controlled asthma (37%) compared to those with partially controlled asthma (78%) and uncontrolled asthma (82%) (p < 0.001). Poor sleep quality was common among patients with asthma, particularly those with suboptimal levels of asthma control. Further studies are needed to better understand the interaction between these two conditions.

Abstract
Objectives This study aimed to determine sleep quality, frequency and severity of dyspnoea in COPD patients and to evaluate the relationship between dyspnoea severity and sleep quality. Method The sample of the study consisted of 110 patients admitted to the Chest Diseases polyclinic of a private hospital and diagnosed as COPD for at least one year. The data of the study were collected using the “Individual Information Form”, “COPD and Asthma Sleep Scale (CASIS)” and “Medical Research Council (MRC) Dyspnoea Scale”. Results It was found that 6.4% of the patients did not experience dyspnoea, 34.5% had mild, 40.9% had moderate, and 18.2% had severe dyspnoea. The mean CASIS score of the patients without dyspnoea was 29.08±7.83, with mild dyspnoea was 40.22±9.30, with moderate dyspnoea was 50.31±8.97 and with severe dyspnoea was 56.96±13.13. There was a statistically significant difference between dyspnoea severity and mean CASIS score (p=0.001). Correlation analysis between MRC dyspnoea scale and CASIS score showed a significant positive correlation (r=0.61 p=0.001). Conclusion It was concluded that the majority of COPD patients had moderate or poor sleep quality and dyspnoea. As dyspnoea severity increases, sleep quality decreases.

Abstract
Introduction Rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder (RBD) is characterized by dream-enacting behavior (shouting, punching, and falling out of bed) related to unpleasant dreams and loss of normal rapid eye movement (REM) sleep muscle atonia. Rapid eye movement sleep enhances learning and memory by regulating neuronal synapses, and if it is undesirable, it can lead to cognitive impairment and poor academic performance and may end up with death. To the best of our searching databases, there is no such study conducted in Ethiopia. Therefore, this study is aimed at determining self-reported symptoms of RBD and its associated factors among the University of Gondar medicine and health science students (2019). Methods We conducted a cross-sectional study from June 1 to July 2019, among medicine and health science students at the University of Gondar using a simple random sampling technique. A self-reported RBD screening questionnaire was used to collect the data. We used Epi Info™ 7.0.8.3 and Stata 14 for data entry and statistical analyses, respectively. Descriptive statistics (frequency with percent and mean with standard deviation) and adjusted odds ratio (AOR) with 95% uncertainty interval (UI) were computed. In a multivariable binary logistic regression, variables with a p < 0.05 were declared as significant. Results Three hundred and eighty-seven students took part in the study. The mean age of participants was 20.81 (±1.83) years. The prevalence of self-reported RBD was 46.25% [95% UI (41.26%-51.24)]. Physical exercise immediately before sleep (AOR = 2.50, 95% UI (1.24-5.02)), using Facebook immediately before sleep (AOR = 1.93, 95% UI (1.18-3.15)), having daytime sleepiness (AOR = 1.92, 95% UI (1.16-3.19)), and self-reported depressive symptoms (AOR = 2.40, 95% UI (1.45-3.99)) were significantly associated with self-reported RBD. Conclusion The current study revealed a high prevalence of self-reported RBD. This remarkable problem suggested a need to design strategies to prevent RBD symptoms among university students through targeting screening of depression, daytime sleepiness, and adjusting bedtime routines such as physical exercise and internet use immediately before going to bed.

Abstract
A good night's sleep is a prerequisite for sustainable mental and physical health. Sleep disorders, including sleep disordered breathing, insomnia and sleep related motor dysfunction (e.g., restless legs syndrome), are common in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), especially in more severe disease. COPD is commonly associated with multimorbidity, and sleep disorders as a component of this multimorbidity spectrum have a further negative impact on COPD-related comorbidities. Indeed, concomitant diseases in COPD and in obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) are similar, suggesting that the combination of COPD and OSA, the so called OSA-COPD overlap syndrome (OVS), affects patient outcomes. Potential clinically important interactions of OVS exist in cardiovascular and metabolic disease, arthritis, anxiety, depression, neurocognitive disorder and the fatigue syndrome. Correct diagnosis for recognition and treatment of sleep-related disorders in COPD is recommended. However, surprisingly limited information is available and further research and improved diagnostic tools are needed. In the absence of clear evidence, we agree with the recommendation of the Global Initiative on Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease that sleep disorders should be actively searched for and treated in patients with COPD. We believe that both aspects are important components of the holistic approach required in patients with chronic multimorbid conditions.

Abstract
PURPOSE The association of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) severity and related health status with sleep quality remains unclear. We aimed to investigate the association between COPD and sleep quality in the Greek national branch of the UNLOCK cohort. METHODS A sample of 257 COPD patients enrolled cross-sectionally from primary care in Greece. Sleep quality was assessed by the COPD and Asthma Sleep Impact Scale (CASIS-7 items) questionnaire (higher score indicates worse sleep quality). We tested for associations of sleep impairment with health status (CAT and mMRC scores), exacerbations, hospitalizations, GOLD 2018 ABCD status, inhaler adherence, frailty, and sense of coherence, adjusting for age, gender, smoking status, and comorbidities. RESULTS The majority of patients reported uncontrolled symptoms (91% with ≥ 10 CAT or 61% with ≥ 2 mMRC). Mean (SD) age was 65 (12.3) with 79% males. CASIS-7 mean (SD) score was 37.7 (12.9). After adjustments, CASIS was significantly associated with worse health status (e.g., CASIS increased with CAT ≥ 10 [β = 12.53, (95% CI, 6.82, 18.25); p < 0.001], mMRC ≥ 2 [β = 4.96, (95% CI, 1.56, 8.34); p = 0.004]), COPD severity (CAT-based GOLD BD [β = 8.88 (95% CI, 2.50, 15.26); p = 0.007]), frailty [β = 8.85 (95% CI 4.45,13.25); p < 0.001], and sense of coherence [β = -0.14 (95% CI -0.21, -0.06), p < 001]. When using a CASIS cut-off score of 30 as indicator of sleep impairment, additional to the aforementioned associations, we found increased risk for sleep impairment with ≥ 2 exacerbations/year and poor inhaler adherence (p value < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS Our study suggests that worse health status and COPD severity are associated with poor sleep quality in COPD patients.

Abstract
COPD and obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) are highly prevalent and different clinical COPD phenotypes that influence the likelihood of comorbid OSA. The increased lung volumes and low body mass index (BMI) associated with the predominant emphysema phenotype protects against OSA whereas the peripheral oedema and higher BMI often associated with the predominant chronic bronchitis phenotype promote OSA. The diagnosis of OSA in COPD patients requires clinical awareness and screening questionnaires which may help identify patients for overnight study. Management of OSA-COPD overlap patients differs from COPD alone and the survival of overlap patients treated with nocturnal positive airway pressure is superior to those untreated. Sleep-related hypoventilation is common in neuromuscular disease and skeletal disorders because of the effects of normal sleep on ventilation and additional challenges imposed by the underlying disorders. Hypoventilation is first seen during rapid eye movement (REM) sleep before progressing to involve non-REM sleep and wakefulness. Clinical presentation is nonspecific and daytime respiratory function measures poorly predict nocturnal hypoventilation. Monitoring of respiration and carbon dioxide levels during sleep should be incorporated in the evaluation of high-risk patient populations and treatment with noninvasive ventilation improves outcomes.

Abstract
In recent years, several national chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) guidelines have been issued. In Serbia, the burden of COPD is high and most of the patients are diagnosed at late stages. Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) strategy is poorly implemented in real-life practice, as many patients are still prescribed inhaled corticosteroids (ICS)-containing regimens and slow-release theophylline. In this document, we propose an algorithm for treating COPD patients in Serbia based on national experts’ opinion, taking into account global recommendations and recent findings from clinical trials that are tailored according to local needs. We identified four major components of COPD treatment based on country specifics: active case finding and early diagnosis in high-risk population, therapeutic algorithm for initiation and escalation of therapy that is simple and easy to use in real-life practice, de-escalation of ICS in low-risk non-exacerbators, and individual choice of inhaler device based on patients' ability and preferences. With this approach we aim to facilitate implementation of the recommendation, initiate the treatment in early stages, improve cost-effectiveness, reduce possible side effects, and ensure efficient treatment.

Abstract
Introduction This study evaluated patients’ experiences with fluticasone furoate/vilanterol (FF/VI) combination therapy in UK patients with asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Methods Participants aged ≥ 18 years, with self-reported, physician-diagnosed asthma or COPD (≥ 1 year) who had been receiving FF/VI (≥ 3 months) were recruited from UK primary care. This two-phase, mixed-methods study consisted of a semi-structured, telephone-interview phase (qualitative) and a self-completed online/paper-survey phase (quantitative). Results The telephone-interview phase included 50 individuals [asthma, n = 25; COPD, n = 25; mean age (SD) 56.7 years (13.3); 50% female]. Of these, 21 with asthma reported that their condition was stable/well controlled and 13 with COPD felt their condition was manageable. Most participants found FF/VI easy to use (asthma, 25; COPD, 23), easy to integrate into their daily routine (asthma, 25; COPD, 24), and able to control symptoms for ≥ 24 h (asthma, 14; COPD, 16). During the survey phase, 199 individuals were recruited [asthma, n = 100; COPD, n = 99; mean age (SD) 63.6 years (15.1); 59.3% female]. Most participants were satisfied/very satisfied with the efficacy of FF/VI in terms of all-day symptom relief (asthma, 84%; COPD, 75%) and found FF/VI easy/very easy to fit into their daily routine (asthma, 99%; COPD, 96%), easy/very easy to use (asthma, 97%; COPD, 92%), and convenient/very convenient to take as instructed (asthma, 95%; COPD, 93%). Significantly more individuals with asthma (87% versus 46%, P < 0.001) and numerically more individuals with COPD (84% versus 76%, P = 0.055) were satisfied/very satisfied with FF/VI compared with their most recent previous maintenance medication. Conclusion The majority of individuals in this study had confidence in FF/VI and were satisfied or very satisfied with various key attributes of the treatment.
