Abstract
BACKGROUND Melanoma is a sinister malignant tumor originates from melanocytes and is characterized by the presence of black pigmentation in the tissue. The vast majority of melanomas are cutaneous melanomas, and primary mucosal melanomas originating from the esophagus are extremely rare. Primary malignant melanoma of esophagus (PMME) accounts for 0.1% to 0.2% of all primary esophageal malignancies. PMME possess high invasiveness but are insensitive to various treatments, so the prognosis is disappointing. Most literature reported that patients are prone to death from complications of tumor metastasis soon, even they undergo radical surgery. CASE DESCRIPTION In this case report, we admitted a 67-year-old female patient with recurrent chest tightness for 2 years and chest pain for 15 days on October 4, 2017. Preoperative imaging examinations, including computerized tomography (CT) and upper gastrointestinal examination by barium revealed stenosis of the lower esophagus and the fundus of the stomach, with mucosa destruction and lymph node metastasis in the hepatic-gastric space. A laparoscope assisted total gastrectomy with D2 lymph node resection and Roux-en-Y anastomosis was performed without adjuvant immunotherapy or targeted therapies. Postoperative pathological examination and immunohistochemical staining indicated malignant melanoma. Meanwhile we did not find a cutaneous lesion, this patient was therefore diagnosed with a rare PMME. There was no sign of recurrence or metastasis during the latest follow-up of 36 months after the operation, which also exceeded the median recurrence-free survival time in the existing cases worldwide. CONCLUSIONS Therefore, we recommend early radical surgery, which may be beneficial to the PMME patient.

Abstract
The landscape of neoplastic pathology of the oesophagus is dominated by malignancies of epithelial origin, in particular by oesophageal adenocarcinoma and oesophageal squamous cell carcinoma. However, several other histopathological variants can be distinguished, some associated with peculiar histopathological profiles and prognostic behaviours and frequently underrecognized in clinical practice. The aim of this review is to provide a comprehensive characterization of the main morphological and clinical features of these rare variants of oesophageal neoplastic lesions.

Abstract
Imaging plays an active role in the surveillance of gastrointestinal stromal tumours (GISTs). Risk stratification schemes, based on size, mitotic count, and anatomical site of origin of the GIST, help in planning preoperative and postoperative imaging strategies especially in determining the frequency and duration of surveillance; however, there is no clear consensus on the optimal imaging strategies in patients with GISTs who are completely cured by surgery and patients who are at risk of recurrence. In addition, current surveillance protocols depend on the resectability of the primary tumour and presence of metastatic disease. The objective of this article is to provide a comprehensive review of the role of the different imaging methods for surveillance of GISTs, focusing on the guidelines recommended by National Comprehensive Cancer Network and European Society of Medical Oncology - European Network for Rare adult solid Cancers, and to propose practical guidelines for surveillance of GISTs for various risk categories.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) are a heterogeneous group of neoplasms composed of cells containing dense-core neuroendocrine secretory granules in their cytoplasm. NETs of the esophagus are exceedingly uncommon, with a parallel absence of data published on clinical features, prognosis, and proposed treatment strategies. METHODS As relevant classification is not well-established, knowledge acquired in NETs of lung and gastrointestinal sites usually guides esophageal NET management. Associated subtypes are divided based upon shared neuroendocrine features into small and large cell NET, typical and atypical carcinoid. RESULTS Common presenting symptoms include dysphagia, abdominal discomfort, weight loss, melena, and on occasion, signs of carcinoid syndrome. Endoscopic findings describe a polypoid, nodular elevated lesion with an overlying surface depicted as mostly smooth and glistening. Disease metastasis is assessed using anatomical imaging, including computed tomography (CT), endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS), and positron emission tomography (PET)-CT. Prognosis is influenced by the extent of lymph node metastasis and potential lymphovascular invasion. Furthermore, proliferative activity, estimated using mitotic count or Ki-67 immunostaining, has been suggested as a significant prognostic parameter. CONCLUSION Therapeutic approach depends on clinical staging. Nevertheless, currently, a specific treatment algorithm for esophageal NETs has not been elucidated. Endoscopic resection has been proposed in NETs less than 1 cm in size with absence of regional lymph node metastasis, while surgical excision combined with adjuvant chemotherapy remains the treatment of choice.

Abstract
Primary non-Hodgkin lymphomas in the esophagus are rare. Tracheoesophageal fistulas mainly arise from solid esophageal carcinoma or mediastinal malignancies. Our patient presented with cough, dysphagia and weight loss, and upon initial computed tomography imaging and esophagogastroduodenoscopy, a malignant mass in the middle third of esophagus with tracheoesophageal fistula was found. The location of the mass and presence of malignant tracheoesophageal fistula were strongly suggestive of squamous cell carcinoma. However, tumor biopsy revealed diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. This case report details a rare incident of a primary diffuse large B-cell lymphoma presented as tracheoesophageal fistula and reviews previous literature.

Abstract
Esophageal neuroendocrine neoplasms are rare. With the improvement and popularization of diagnostic methods, the morbidity statistics have increased annually in recent years. There are currently no treatment guidelines for esophageal neuroendocrine neoplasms, and surgery is the only cure. This usually involves radical surgery when the tumor is limited to the primary site or when only regional lymph node metastasis occurs. Surgical treatment is key to treating esophageal neuroendocrine neoplasms, but combined treatment with chemotherapy and radiotherapy can significantly improve patient survival. The effect of radiotherapy alone on this disease is poor. However, targeted endocrine therapy can improve endocrine hormone symptoms. The prognosis of patients with esophageal neuroendocrine neoplasms is mainly determined by the pathological stage. With the development of molecular biology techniques, the combination of targeted drugs and traditional chemotherapy is expected to provide novel ideas and directions for the treatment of esophageal neuroendocrine neoplasms in the coming years. In this article, the status of esophageal neuroendocrine tumor treatments was reviewed in detail.
