Abstract
INTRODUCTION The aim of this position statement is to provide health professionals with an updated and evidence-based guideline for the pharmacologic management of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) in Mexico. MATERIAL AND METHODS A literature review was conducted that included relevant guidelines and studies, up to the date of its publication. The mechanism of action, specific indications in IBS, safety profile, and availability of each therapeutic class were evaluated. The recommendations were developed by 14 experts, considering the clinical reality of IBS patients in Mexico. RESULTS Specific recommendations were issued for each class. Antispasmodics (alone or combined) are used as first-line therapy for pain management, whereas antidiarrheals, such as loperamide, are used for reducing diarrhea in diarrhea-predominant IBS (IBS-D) and laxatives are used for constipation in constipation-predominant IBS (IBS-C). 5-HT4 agonists (prucalopride and mosapride) are recommended in IBS-C and 5-HT3 antagonists (ondansetron) are recommended in IBS-D. Linaclotide is the only secretagogue available in Mexico and is used in IBS-C. Rifaximin-alpha stands out for its efficacy in a subgroup of patients with IBS-D or mixed IBS. Probiotics are conditionally recommended as adjuvant therapy due to heterogeneous evidence. Neuromodulators (tricyclic antidepressants, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, etc.) are recommended as second-line treatment for pain management. Mesalazine can be used in IBS-D, but the corresponding evidence is weak. CONCLUSION Overall, these recommendations provide a solid framework for personalizing treatment, based on the clinical characteristics of the Mexican patient with IBS.

Abstract
The irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is one of the most prevalent functional gastrointestinal disorders. However, at most, one-third of IBS patients are satisfied with the results of their treatment. A combination of pharmaceuticals or multi-target drugs should be used for the treatment to be effective due to the complexity of IBS pathophysiology. The Russian Expert Panel in gastroenterology, including functional gastrointestinal disorders, currently considered to be disorders of gut-brain interaction, at its open session has discussed the possibilities to increase the efficacy of treatment of patients with IBS with a multitargeted agent alverine citrate combined with simethicone registered under the trade name of Meteospasmyl® (Mayoly Pharma, France) and adopted the respective resolution. Based on the results of multiple experimental and clinical studies, the experts declared that the combination of alverine citrate with simethicone relieves pain through the alleviation of its main mechanisms (spasms, flatulence, visceral hypersensitivity, and inflammation), and normalizes bowel movements demonstrating the normokinetic (eukinetic) properties. All clinical effects of the combination of alverine citrate and simethicone are prolonged. Alverine citrate combined with simethicone improves patients’ quality of life, including their psychological well-being. Due to the efficacy and good safety profile, it is possible to use the combination of alverine citrate and simethicone as on-demand and ex juvantibus treatment. The combination of alverine citrate and simethicone is a single selective antispasmodic that allows for a simultaneous solution of two clinical challenges: to rid the patient of abdominal pains and to properly prepare the patient for instrumental examinations (colonoscopy, abdominal ultrasound, and radiological examination), due to a high simethicone dose and spasmolytic properties of alverine citrate. In addition, Meteospasmyl® is a single antispasmodic, which has demonstrated high efficacy and safety in a clinical study of its combination with a probiotic (Probiolog® IBS), containing the strains (Lactobacillus plantarum CECT 7484, Lactobacillus plantarum CECT 7485, and Pediococcus acidilactici CECT 7483) acting on all IBS pathogenesis steps. This is extremely important, considering the proven role of gut dysbiosis in IBS pathophysiology.

Abstract
BACKGROUND & AIMS Portal hypertension (PH) is one of the most frequent complications of chronic liver disease. The peripheral 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) level was increased in cirrhotic patients. We aimed to elucidate the function and mechanism of 5-HT receptor 1A (HTR1A) in the portal vein (PV) on PH. METHODS PH models were induced by thioacetamide injection, bile duct ligation, or partial PV ligation. HTR1A expression was detected using real-time polymerase chain reaction, in situ hybridization, and immunofluorescence staining. In situ intraportal infusion was used to assess the effects of 5-HT, the HTR1A agonist 8-OH-DPAT, and the HTR1A antagonist WAY-100635 on portal pressure (PP). Htr1a-knockout (Htr1a-/-) rats and vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC)-specific Htr1a-knockout (Htr1aΔVSMC) mice were used to confirm the regulatory role of HTR1A on PP. RESULTS HTR1A expression was significantly increased in the hypertensive PV of PH model rats and cirrhotic patients. Additionally, 8-OH-DPAT increased, but WAY-100635 decreased, the PP in rats without affecting liver fibrosis and systemic hemodynamics. Furthermore, 5-HT or 8-OH-DPAT directly induced the contraction of isolated PVs. Genetic deletion of Htr1a in rats and VSMC-specific Htr1a knockout in mice prevented the development of PH. Moreover, 5-HT triggered adenosine 3',5'-cyclic monophosphate pathway-mediated PV smooth muscle cell contraction via HTR1A in the PV. We also confirmed alverine as an HTR1A antagonist and demonstrated its capacity to decrease PP in rats with thioacetamide-, bile duct ligation-, and partial PV ligation-induced PH. CONCLUSIONS Our findings reveal that 5-HT promotes PH by inducing the contraction of the PV and identify HTR1A as a promising therapeutic target for attenuating PH. As an HTR1A antagonist, alverine is expected to become a candidate for clinical PH treatment.

Abstract
Colonoscopy is the standard procedure for screening, and surveillance of colorectal cancer, including the treatment for colonic lesions. Colonic spasm is an important problem from colonoscopy that affects both surgeons and patients. The spasm also might be the cause of longer cecal intubation time, difficulty of the procedure, and increased pain. Previous reports indicated that antispasmodic agents can decrease such symptoms. Therefore, we conducted this study to investigate the cecal intubation time of antispasmodic agents. A single blinded randomized controlled trial was conducted from 01/11/2020 to 31/08/2021. One hundred four patients were allocated to antispasmodic agent group and control group, in 1:1 ratio. The efficacy of median (range) cecal intubation time showed similar results of 5 (2, 14) and 5 (2, 15) minutes with no statistically significant difference. The mean scores of all domains i.e., pain, spasm, cleanliness, and difficulty were better in the antispasmodic agent group about 2.6 (1.4), 1.8 (0.8), 2.4 (0.9), and 2.0 (0.9), respectively, than control group but there were spasm and cleanliness showed statistically significant difference. Moreover, the satisfaction scores showed better efficacy in decreased spasm, decreased difficulty, and increased cleanliness than control group. Prescribing of antispasmodic drugs before colonoscopy might be the choice of treatment for the patients. The antispasmodic drugs will be beneficial to both of the patient and the doctor.

Abstract
Summary Post- COVID syndrome refers to the long-term consequences of a new coronavirus infection COVID-19, which includes a set of symptoms that develop or persist after COVID-19. Symptoms of gastrointestinal disorders in post- COVID syndrome, due to chronic infl ammation, the consequences of organ damage, prolonged hospitalization, social isolation, and other causes, can be persistent and require a multidisciplinary approach. The presented clinical practice guidelines consider the main preventive and therapeutic and diagnostic approaches to the management of patients with gastroenterological manifestations of postCOVID syndrome. The Guidelines were approved by the 17th National Congress of Internal Medicine and the 25th Congress of Gastroenterological Scientifi c Society of Russia.

Abstract
Chronic pelvic pain (CPP) is explained as a complaint of cyclic or non-cyclic pelvic pain lasting for at least six months with or without dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia, dysuria, and dyschezia. The etiology of symptoms can be categorized according to organ system involvement. Gynecological causes typically involve endometriosis-related pain, pelvic congestion syndrome, pelvic inflammatory disease, adenomyosis, hydrosalpinx, etc. Endometriosis-related pain is seldom non-cyclic and may present due to recurrent bleeding in endometriotic implants. Engorgement of veins leads to inadequate venous washout and presents chronic pelvic pain in pelvic congestion syndrome. The pressure effect of benign lesions of the uterus and cervix may lead to cyclic pain, as in uterine fibroids. Often presentation of diseases like hydrosalpinx may not present until it has overdistended or may at times present as acute pelvic pain if it undergoes torsion. Long-standing untreated pelvic inflammatory diseases in sexually active females is another cause of pelvic pain. The complaint of CPP is also shared due to the involvement of the gastrointestinal system in conditions like irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel diseases, long-standing abdominal hernias, colorectal cancer, etc. Alteration of the gut biome and dysregulated brain-gut associations lead to typical manifestations of chronic lower back pain and pelvic pain in irritable bowel syndrome. Colorectal tumors, when in the advanced stage, may spread to nearby tissues creating fistulas and affecting nearby nerves, causing pelvic, perineal, and sacral pain. Abdominal hernias with small bowel prolapse are always related to pelvic pain symptoms. Infections in the urinary tract like urethral syndrome, chronic prostatitis, and chronic recurrent cystitis present with CPP and voiding problems. Musculoskeletal etiologies, though varying in degrees, are responsible for isolated complaints of CPP. Examples include pelvic girdle pain, levator syndrome, coccygodynia, and pelvic floor prolapse.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is characterised by recurrent abdominal pain related to defaecation or associated with altered stool frequency or consistency. Despite its prevalence, major uncertainties in the diagnostic and therapeutic management persist in clinical practice. METHODS A Delphi consensus was conducted by 20 experts from Belgium, and consisted of literature review and voting process on 78 statements. Grading of recommendations, assessment, development and evaluation criteria were applied to evaluate the quality of evidence. Consensus was defined as > 80 % agreement. RESULTS Consensus was reached for 50 statements. The Belgian consensus agreed as to the multifactorial aetiology of IBS. According to the consensus abdominal discomfort also represents a cardinal symptom, while bloating and abdominal distension often coexist. IBS needs subtyping based on stool pattern. The importance of a positive diagnosis, relying on history and clinical examination is underlined, while additional testing should remain limited, except when alarm features are present. Explanation of IBS represents a crucial part of patient management. Lifestyle modification, spasmolytics and water-solube fibres are considered first-line agents. The low FODMAP diet, selected probiotics, cognitive behavioural therapy and specific treatments targeting diarrhoea and constipation are considered appropriate. There is a consensus to restrict faecal microbiota transplantation and gluten-free diet, while other treatments are strongly discouraged. CONCLUSIONS A panel of Belgian gastroenterologists summarised the current evidence on the aetiology, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of IBS with attention for the specificities of the Belgian healthcare system.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Exercise-induced gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms are frequently reported by athletes during training and competitions. A standardized combination of artichoke leaves and ginger root extracts has shown beneficial effects in managing GI discomfort in otherwise healthy subjects. METHODS In this pilot study, we assessed the effectiveness of artichoke leaves and ginger root extracts combination associated with simethicone in reducing exercise-related GI symptoms in endurance athletes. The effects of the combination on upper/lower GI and systemic symptoms were assessed at baseline and after 4 weeks through a questionnaire. RESULTS Fifty endurance athletes took the extracts' combination 320 mg + simethicone 40 mg chewable pills. The extracts combination and simethicone were effective in reducing the mean intensity of upper GI (86.6%) lower GI (85.9%) and systemic symptoms (81.9%), with superior results compared to placebo. The most remarkable effects were reported in the lower GI tract, with a significant decrease in flatulence, intestinal cramps, loose stools and diarrhea. Athletes also benefited from a reduction in belching and bloating and in dizziness, headache and muscle cramps, although the decrease in systemic symptoms was not significant. CONCLUSIONS The supplementation of standardized artichoke and ginger extracts, combined with simethicone, may be effective in decreasing digestive discomfort and alteration of gastric motility not only in healthy subjects but also in endurance athletes.

Abstract
Background: Understanding the prescribing patterns could better inform irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) management and health policy. However, there is no study on prescribing patterns of IBS in Taiwan. This study was conducted to evaluate the epidemiology, clinical features, and prescribing patterns of IBS in Taiwan. Methods: This population-based cross-sectional study was performed by retrieving claim data from National Health Insurance Research Database (NHIRD) between 2011 and 2018 in Taiwan. Patients who were diagnosed with IBS during 2012–2018 and more than 20 years old were included. The annual incidence and prevalence of IBS were estimated. The characteristics and prescribing pattern were evaluated among IBS population. The population with IBS were followed from index date until 1 year after or death. Results: A total of 1691596 patients diagnosed with IBS were identified from 2012 to 2018. The average annual incidence and prevalence of IBS in Taiwan were calculated as 106.54 and 181.75 per 10,000 population. The incidence and prevalence showed a decreasing trend from 2012 to 2018. Hypertension, dyslipidemia, chronic liver disease, peptic ulcer, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), anxiety, and sleep disorder were the prevalent comorbidities in IBS population. At 1 year after IBS diagnosis, the rates of peptic ulcer and GERD; the utilizations of abdominal ultrasonography, upper gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy, and lower GI endoscopy; the prescribing rate of propulsives, simethicone, antacids, H2-blockers, and proton pump inhibitors significantly increased. Approximately 70% of participants received IBS-related treatment. Antispasmodics was the most frequently prescribed medication class, followed by laxatives and antidiarrheals. Only 48.58% of patients made return visit for IBS at 1 year after IBS diagnosis. Consequently, the proportion of consultation for IBS and the prescribing rates of all medications were decreased considerably after IBS diagnosis. Conclusion: The incidence and prevalence of IBS showed a decreasing trend from 2012 to 2018. More than two-third of patients received treatment for IBS. Antispasmodics was widely used for IBS management. However, patients may have a short symptom duration or receive a short course of IBS-related treatment in Taiwan. These findings provided the whole picture of the epidemiology and prescribing pattern of the IBS population in Taiwan.

Abstract
The presented clinical practice guidelines of the Gastroenterological Scientific Society of Russia (GSSR), diagnostic, and therapeutic approaches for patients with digestive diseases during the COVID-19 pandemic. The guidelines were approved by the XXIII Congress of the GSSR and the 22nd International Slavonic-Baltic Scientifi c Forum “St. Petersburg - Gastro-2020 ON-LINE” (St. Petersburg, June 11, 2020). The presented clinical practice guidelines of the Russian Scientific Medical Society of Internal Medicine (RSMSIM) and the Gastroenterological Scientific Society of Russia (GSSR), diagnostic, and therapeutic approaches for patients with digestive diseases during the COVID-19 pandemic. The recommendations were approved at the XV National Congress of Internal Medicine, XXIII Congress of NOGR on the basis of the 1st edition, adopted at the 22nd International Slavic- Baltic Scientific Forum “St. Petersburg - Gastro-2020 ON-LINE”.

Abstract
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is one of the most common disorders of the gut-brain axis, which affects approximately 4% of the global population. The Rome IV criteria define IBS as chronic or recurrent abdominal pain associated with altered bowel habits. Patients can be categorized in four subtypes: IBS with predominant constipation (IBS-C), predominant diarrhea (IBS-D), mixed bowel habits (IBS-M), and unclassified (IBS-U). IBS is associated with a lower quality of life, reduced work productivity, and high healthcare costs. When comparing subtypes, patients with IBS-D report lower disease related quality of life. Due to the scope of this review, we have solely focused on patients with IBS-D. Choosing the right pharmacological treatment in these patients remains challenging due to the heterogeneous patient population, patients' expectation of the treatment outcome, unavailability of efficacious drugs, and the multifactorial and incompletely understood underlying pathophysiology. Currently, pharmacological treatment options target individual symptoms, such as abdominal pain, altered bowel habits, and bloating. In this review, we aimed to summarize the current and recent pharmacological treatment options in IBS-D, targeting the predominant gastrointestinal symptoms. Additionally, we proposed a pharmacological treatment algorithm which healthcare professionals could use when treating individual patients with IBS-D.

Abstract
Alverine citrate is a spasmolytic commonly prescribed in conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome, painful diverticular disease of the colon, and primary dysmenorrhea. While clinical efficacy data on alverine alone or in combination with simethicone is freely available, surprisingly little information regarding the pharmacokinetics and metabolism of alverine can be found in literature. The first HPLC-MS/MS analytical protocol for determination of alverine parent, 4-hydroxy alverine, N-desethyl alverine and 4-hydroxy alverine glucuronide in human plasma was developed and validated. The two validated methods were used for analyzing plasma samples collected during an open label, non-comparative, single dose, one-period, one-treatment, pharmacokinetic and metabolic profile study of Spasmonal® Forte 120 mg hard capsule, conducted in 12 fasting healthy male and female volunteers of Caucasian descent. The study confirmed previous suspicions that parent alverine is subject to high pharmacokinetic variability and also revealed that the metabolic process most susceptible to outlying performance in Caucasians is hydroxylation to the active metabolite 4-hydroxy alverine. Another interesting observation made is that alverine parent accounts for only 3%, whereas total 4-hydroxy alverine (free and conjugated) accounts for 94% of alverine-related moieties in circulation (based on comparisons of total exposure).

Abstract
BACKGROUND Probiotics and antispasmodics have been tested extensively in the management of symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), but they have rarely been evaluated in combination. The objective of this pilot study was to assess the efficacy of treatment with the probiotic formulation i3.1 (Lactobacillus plantarum CECT7484 and CECT7485 and Pediococcus acidilactici CECT7483), with or without the addition of the antispasmodic alverine/simethicone, in improving IBS-related quality of life (QoL) and reducing abdominal pain and diarrhea in patients with IBS. METHODS This was a randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial with 3 parallel arms (probiotic, probiotic plus antispasmodic, and placebo). Patients with IBS (N = 55) were recruited at the Gastroenterology Department of the Juárez Hospital (México City). QoL was assessed with the IBS-QoL questionnaire, abdominal pain with a visual analog scale, and stool consistency with the Bristol scale. RESULTS The IBS-QoL rate of response (ITT analysis) was 50.0% for patients in the group with probiotic alone, 68.4% in the group with probiotic plus antispasmodic, and 16.7% in the group with placebo after 6 weeks of treatment (p = 0.005). Response to abdominal pain was reported by 38.9% of patients treated with probiotic, 57.9% with probiotic plus antispasmodic, and 16.7% with placebo (p = 0.035). Regarding stool consistency, a response to treatment was reported by 44.4% of patients treated with probiotic, 57.9% with probiotic plus antispasmodic, and 16.7% with placebo (p = 0.032). CONCLUSION The results are consistent with previous studies on the use of the i3.1 probiotic formulation for the management of symptoms in IBS patients, and the addition of an antispasmodic improves its observed effects.

Abstract
GOALS We aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of PB+S (pinaverium bromide 100 mg plus simethicone 300 mg) in patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). BACKGROUND IBS is a multifactorial disorder; thus, combination therapy with different mechanisms of action is expected to be useful. PB+S has shown effectiveness in an open-label clinical study in IBS. However, there are no placebo-controlled trials. MATERIALS AND METHODS IBS-Rome III patients with abdominal pain/discomfort for at least 2 days within the week prior to baseline assessment were included in this 12-week, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study of PB+S versus placebo, bid. The primary endpoint was overall symptom improvement, evaluated weekly by the patient (Likert Scale). Secondary endpoints included the weekly improvement in the severity of abdominal pain and bloating assessed both by patients (10-cm Visual Analogue Scale) and investigators (Likert Scale); frequency of Bristol Scale stool types (consistency) evaluated by patients and the IBS Quality of Life scores. RESULTS A total of 285 patients (female: 83%; 36.5±8.9 y old) received at least 1 dose of PB+S (n=140) or placebo (n=145). No difference was observed in overall symptom improvement between the groups (P=0.13). However, PB+S was superior in abdominal pain (effect size: 31%, P=0.038) and bloating (33%, P=0.019). Patients with IBS-C and IBS-M showed the best improvement in the frequency of stool types with PB+S. No differences were observed in IBS Quality of Life scores and adverse events. CONCLUSIONS PB+S was superior to placebo in improving abdominal pain and bloating in patients with active IBS. The effect on the frequency of stool consistency was particularly significant in IBS-C and IBS-M.

Abstract
Current target-oriented paradigm for novel antidepressant discovery has been difficult to succeed and the failures always bring huge economic losses. Although abundant ledge of disease related genes and drug action targets has been accumulated, the successful application of the knowledge for new drug discovery is limited. Here, we predicted and validated potential antidepressants and molecular targets from DrugBank recorded drugs using a novel network-based drug repositioning approach. This approach predicted relationships between drug and targets through network-based integration of drug chemical similarity, therapeutic similarity and protein-protein interactions. We predicted genome-wide relations of drugs and targets, and then screened drugs that connect to depression-related targets of known antidepressants. Six drugs were predicted and experimentally validated to have antidepressant-like effects in the tail suspension test (TST) and forced swimming test (FST) in mice. Alverine, which is a gastrointestinal antispasmodic drug, was further validated to display antidepressant-like effects in the learned helplessness and chronic unpredictable stress models of depression. Four targets, including serotonin transporter, norepinephrine transporter, serotonin 1A receptor and serotonin 2A receptor, were included in the predictable system and confirmed as primary sites of action for alverine. The results suggest that alverine may be an effective antidepressant drug and the network-based drug repositioning may be a promising drug discovery paradigm for complex multi-genetic diseases such as depression.

Abstract
This article summarizes recent progress and regulatory guidance on design of trials to assess the efficacy of new therapies for functional gastrointestinal disorders (FGIDs). The double-masked, placebo-controlled, parallel-group design remains the accepted standard for evaluating treatment efficacy. A control group is essential, and a detailed description of the randomization process and concealed allocation method must be included in the study report. The control will most often be placebo, but for therapeutic procedures and for behavioral treatment trials, respectively, a sham procedure and control intervention with similar expectation of benefit, but lacking the treatment principle, are recommended. Investigators should be aware of, and attempt to minimize, expectancy effects (placebo, nocebo, precebo). The primary analysis should be based on the proportion of patients in each treatment arm who satisfy a treatment responder definition or a prespecified clinically meaningful change in a patient-reported outcome measure. Data analysis should use the intention-to-treat principle. Reporting of results should follow the Consolidated Standards for Reporting Trials guidelines and include secondary outcome measures to support or explain the primary outcome and an analysis of harms data. Trials should be registered in a public location before initiation and results should be published regardless of outcome.

Abstract
Chronic diarrhea is usually associated with a number of non-infectious causes. When definitive treatment is unavailable, symptomatic drug therapy is indicated. Pharmacologic agents for chronic diarrhea include loperamide, 5-hydroxytryptamine type 3 (5-HT3) receptor antagonists, diosmectite, cholestyramine, probiotics, antispasmodics, rifaximin, and anti-inflammatory agents. Loperamide, a synthetic opiate agonist, decreases peristaltic activity and inhibits secretion, resulting in the reduction of fluid and electrolyte loss and an increase in stool consistency. Cholestyramine is a bile acid sequestrant that is generally considered as the first-line treatment for bile acid diarrhea. 5-HT3 receptor antagonists have significant benefits in patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) with diarrhea. Ramosetron improves stool consistency as well as global IBS symptoms. Probiotics may have a role in the prevention of antibiotic-associated diarrhea. However, data on the role of probiotics in the treatment of chronic diarrhea are lacking. Diosmectite, an absorbent, can be used for the treatment of chronic functional diarrhea, radiation-induced diarrhea, and chemotherapy-induced diarrhea. Antispasmodics including alverine citrate, mebeverine, otilonium bromide, and pinaverium bromide are used for relieving diarrheal symptoms and abdominal pain. Rifaximin can be effective for chronic diarrhea associated with IBS and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth. Budesonide is effective in both lymphocytic colitis and collagenous colitis. The efficacy of mesalazine in microscopic colitis is weak or remains uncertain. Considering their mechanisms of action, these agents should be prescribed properly.

Abstract
AIM: To investigate the efficacy, cost-effectiveness and adverse reactions of compound alverine citrate in treating patients with functional abdominal pain syndrome (FAPS).
METHODS: Eighty-two patients with FAPS were randomized into a study group and a control group to receive compound alverine citrate soft capsules and trimebutine maleate, respectively, for 6 wk. The efficacy, cost-effectiveness ratio and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.
RESULTS: The overall response rate in the study group was superior to that in the control group (75.76% vs 30.00%, P < 0.01). The abdominal pain score in the study group was decreased significantly compared with pretreatment value (P < 0.01). The abdominal pain score in the study group was significantly lower than that in the control group (P < 0.05). No adverse reactions were found in this study.
CONCLUSION: Compound alverine citrate is effective in treating FAPS patients with few adverse reactions.
