Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the experiences, needs and preferences of a group of parents regarding the parenting support received during prenatal and well-child care in the Portuguese National Health Service. DESIGN AND SETTING We undertook descriptive-interpretive qualitative research running multiple focus groups in Porto, Northern Portugal. PARTICIPANTS, DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS Purposive sampling was used between April and November 2018. Focus groups were conducted with 11 parents of a 0-3 years old with well-child visits done in primary care units. Thematic analysis was performed in a broadly inductive coding strategy and findings are reported in accordance with Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Research guidelines. RESULTS Three main themes were identified to describe parents' experience when participating in their children's healthcare: (1) logistics/delivery matter, including accessibility, organisation and provision of healthcare activities, unit setting and available equipment; (2) prenatal and well-child care: a relational place to communicate, with parents valuing a tripartite space for the baby, the family and the parent himself, where an available and caring health provider plays a major role and (3) parenting is challenging and looks for support, based on key points for providers to watch for and ask about, carefully explained and consensual among health providers. CONCLUSION This study provides insight into parents' needs and healthcare practices that affect the parenting experience. To meet parents' preferences, sensitive health providers should guarantee a relational place to communicate and person-centredness, accounting for the whole family system to support healthy parenting collaboratively. Future studies are warranted to further strengthen the knowledge in the field of a population-based approach for parenting support.

Abstract
Scientists in sleep and circadian rhythms, public health experts, healthcare providers, partners, and stakeholders convened in 2020 for a 2-day meeting organized by the Canadian Sleep and Circadian Network to develop a national strategy for the integration of sleep and circadian rhythms into public health and policies in Canada. The objective of this paper is to present the national strategy that emerged from this meeting of 60 participants from across Canada. The meeting focused on 4 key target priorities: (1) atypical working schedules, (2) sleep and circadian rhythms of children and adolescents, (3) insomnia, and (4) impact of sleep apnea on health. Following constructive discussions over 2 days, it was decided that the following 4 strategic objectives should be prioritized to accelerate the integration of sleep and circadian rhythms into public health policies in Canada: (1) Increase public health sleep and circadian rhythm research, (2) Increase public health education and knowledge mobilization on sleep, (3) Inform and support public health sleep interventions and policies, and (4) Promote sleep health training. The participants recommended that research and public health efforts should address the needs along the continuum of sleep health. The committee noted that strategies and interventions could differ across contexts, settings, sectors, and jurisdictions. The national strategy also identified high-priority research questions in public health and recommended mechanisms to build research capacity, providing a path forward for the integration of sleep and circadian rhythms into public health research and policies.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The study objective was to identify the top 10 research priorities for expectant parents and caregivers of children up to age 24 months. DESIGN A priority setting partnership using a modified James Lind Alliance approach was implemented. First, a core steering committee was formed, consisting of 17 parents, clinicians and community agency representatives. Second, through in-person collaboration with steering committee members, we developed and distributed a survey to identify research priorities across 12 topics. In total, 596 participants consented and 480 completed the survey. Survey responses were grouped and themed into codes during a consensus-building workshop with steering committee members (n=18). Research and practice experts were consulted to provide feedback on which themes had already been researched. An in-person (n=21) workshop was used to establish the top 34 priorities, which were circulated to the broader steering committee (n=25) via an online survey. Finally, the core steering committee members (n=18) met to determine and rank a top 10 (plus 1) list of research priorities. SETTING This study was conducted in Alberta, Canada. PARTICIPANTS Expectant parents and caregivers of children up to age 24 months. RESULTS Survey results provided 3232 responses, with 202 unique priorities. After expert feedback and steering committee consensus, a list of 34 priorities was moved forward for final consideration. The final top 10 (plus 1) research priorities included three priorities on mental health/relationships, two priorities on each of access to information, immunity and child development, and one priority on each of sleep, pregnancy/labour and feeding. Selecting 11 instead of 10 priorities was based on steering committee consensus. CONCLUSIONS The findings will direct future maternal-child research, ensuring it is rooted in parent-identified priorities that represent contemporary needs. To provide meaningful outcomes, research in these priority areas must consider diverse socioeconomic backgrounds and experiences.

Abstract
Becoming a mother is a fundamental life-transforming event characterized by high psychosocial distress. Most prenatal programming leaves women feeling unprepared for the realities of early parenthood. The purpose of this study was to design, implement, and evaluate a brief enhancement to existing prenatal programming, Welcome to Parenthood® (W2P). Using a single-group, longitudinal design, we implemented W2P with a community sample of 454 primiparous women via 11 Parent Link Centres in Alberta, Canada. The women completed questionnaires during late pregnancy, and 2 and 6 months postpartum to capture adverse childhood experiences (ACE), depressive symptoms (Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale; EPDS), and infant development (Ages and Stages Questionnaires; ASQs). Outcomes were compared with the naturalistic values from All Our Families community cohort from the same province and to the ASQ reference samples. By the end of W2P, depressive symptoms decreased significantly (p < .0001). The number of women with high depressive symptoms (EPDS ≥ 10) decreased almost by half, from 80 (17.6%) at enrollment to 41 (9.0%) at 6 months postpartum. Women with higher ACE had the greatest decrease in depressive symptoms. Infants in W2P had significantly better development than infants in reference samples. W2P is associated with improved maternal mood and infant development. Given that W2P is brief and uses natural supports, it may be integrated into existing prenatal programming for first-time mothers.

Abstract
BACKGROUND To date, there have been few studies pertaining to the knowledge and attitudes regarding the use of corporal punishment (CP) among professionals working with parents and children. Yet, many parents turn to these professionals for advice on child discipline. OBJECTIVE This study aimed to describe professionals' legal knowledge about parental use of CP and their attitudes toward this practice. METHOD A study was conducted among professionals working directly with children or their parents through an online questionnaire. PARTICIPANTS A total of 1,758 respondents from three sectors of training (psychosocial, health, education) completed the questionnaire. RESULTS The results showed that professionals have little knowledge of the legal guidelines surrounding the use of CP in Canada. This poor knowledge as well as the perceived impacts of CP on children acted as predictors of favorable attitudes toward this disciplinary practice. According to the regression analyses, other personal and professional factors also explain a person's approval of CP, including violence in childhood, religious practice, and sources of knowledge. The results also highlighted some findings related to the respondents' professional sectors. CONCLUSIONS The study results emphasize the need to better train professionals by targeting cognitive, personal, as well as professional factors.

Abstract
Increasing numbers of families in Australian cities are raising their children in private, high-rise, housing. However, with developments often designed for singles and couples without children, there is a need to better understand the lived experiences of families in these settings. This paper draws on photo-narratives from ten parents of pre-school children aged five and under residing in newer, high-rise developments in Melbourne to explore their experiences of social connectedness and capital. Findings showed that parents' social connections were often hindered by physical and social barriers, including the design of developments and space within apartments; the transient nature of other residents; and the need to maintain a level of distance from neighbours given close proximity. However, parents felt social connectedness was enabled through organised groups and activities, and the shared experience of raising a child in the area. Based on parents' experiences, this paper makes suggestions to improve social connectedness, foster social capital and enhance wellbeing among the increasing number of families living in high-rise developments.

Abstract
Background/objective This paper describes evidence-based strategies for the dissemination of empirically supported interventions for infant behavioral sleep problems. Methods To identify parents' needs, a survey sampled 1022 parents in the Niagara region about use of health resources, tracking occurred of public health nurses' consultations with parents about infant sleep, and nurses obtained sleep workshop evaluation data from 18 parents. A focus group with 10 participants, a survey of Niagara Region Public Health and Emergency Services (NRPH&ES) employees, and consultations with external stakeholders identified gaps in parents' and infants' care and public health nurses' training needs. We developed solutions by creating evidence-based tools and a program for parents and public health nurses. We implemented and disseminated information via sharing tools on the NRPH&ES website, and workshops for community agencies and public health nurses. Results Seventy childhood educators, support workers, and social and public health professionals attended our community workshop. Twenty-three public health nurses attended our training workshop. In guided discussion, nurses evaluated the workshop as addressing gaps in knowledge and enhancing NRPH&ES interventions to manage infants' behavioral sleep problems. Fifteen parents attended a sleep workshop pilot, with seven parents indicating a preference for follow-up telephone support. Fifty individuals attended our oral presentation at the Ontario Public Health Convention. Conclusions For next directions, community and other public health agencies want access to our tools and program components. We received a research grant to design, implement, and evaluate sharing tools and program components with community agencies (daycares and childcare centres). Behavioral sleep problems are common during infancy. Parents identify problems but have limited access to evidence-based care. Public health nurses can provide evidence-based support to families. Public health nurses can offer community agencies evidence-based resources.

Abstract
Background In early life, both mothers and fathers are important influences on their children’s diet, active play, and obesity risk. Parents are increasingly relying on the internet and social media as a source of information on all aspects of parenting. However, little is known about the use of Web-based sources of information relevant to family lifestyle behaviors and, in particular, differences between mothers’ and fathers’ use and sociodemographic predictors. Objective The objective of this study was to examine if mothers and fathers differ in their use of the internet for information on their own health and their child’s health, feeding, and playing and to examine sociodemographic predictors of the use of the internet for information on these topics. Methods We conducted a secondary analysis on data collected from mothers (n=297) and fathers (n=207) participating in the extended Infant Feeding, Activity and Nutrition Trial (InFANT Extend) when their children were 36 months of age. The main outcome variables were the use of the internet for information gathering for parents’ own health and child health, feeding, and playing. Binary logistic regression was used to examine the sociodemographic predictors of outcomes. Results Compared with fathers (n=296), a higher proportion of mothers (n=198) used the internet for information on their own health (230, 78.5% vs 93, 46.5%), child health (226, 77.1% vs 84, 42.4%), child feeding (136, 46.3% vs 35, 17.5%), and child play (123, 42.1% vs 28, 14.0%) and intended to use Facebook to connect with other parents (200, 74.9% vs 43, 30.5%). Despite the high use of the internet to support family health behaviors, only 15.9% (47/296) of mothers reported consulting health practitioners for advice and help for their own or their child’s weight, diet, or physical activity. Sociodemographic predictors of internet use differed between mothers and fathers and explained only a small proportion of the variance in internet use to support healthy family lifestyle behaviors. Conclusions Our findings support the use of the internet and Facebook as an important potential avenue for reaching mothers with information relevant to their own health, child health, child diet, and active play. However, further research is required to understand the best avenues for engaging fathers with information on healthy family lifestyle behaviors to support this important role in their child’s life. Abstract
Objectives To determine the effect of an enhanced information package, the Welcome to Parenthood® (W2P) Kit, given at birth on (a) early parenting experiences and (b) use of educational resources and community services. Methods Two-group, post-test only design, with parents (mothers and fathers) in comparison group (n = 186; received standard discharge information) recruited prior to intervention group (n = 195; received W2P Kit); most were Canadian-born and highly educated. Participants completed an investigator-designed, online or telephone survey at 3 months postpartum, which generated quantitative and qualitative data. The W2P Kit included evidence-based, educational resources about infant feeding, child development, and parenting skills that targeted mothers and fathers, information about community services for new parents, infant board book, and small gifts. Results At 3 months postpartum the intervention group was significantly more likely to be aware of, and to have used, the educational resources than the comparison group. The intervention group was also more likely to have made an unplanned visit to the doctor for their infant, but groups did not differ in early parenting experiences or use of community services. Parents who received the W2P Kit reported that it was helpful to learn about various aspects of child development and parenting. Conclusions for Practice Parents who received the W2P Kit reported increased awareness and use of educational resources, but participants in both groups reported similar experiences as a new parent and use of community services. An enhanced information package given at birth may be a useful health promotion strategy.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES/BACKGROUND This paper outlines the current state of Canadian training, clinical services, research, and advocacy initiatives related to non-respiratory sleep disorders, with a specific focus on insomnia, the most common sleep problem in children. METHODS Information for this narrative review was collected from peer-reviewed publications, web-resources, and personal communications and experiences. RESULTS It is estimated that approximately one-third of Canadian children and youth present with insomnia, and that this is impacting their physical and mental health, as well as learning in school. Training in pediatric sleep is limited and highly inconsistent within and across disciplines. While there are some publicly and privately funded pediatric sleep services available, these are mostly focused on respiratory sleep problems and are not equally accessible across the country. CONCLUSIONS Pediatric assessment and treatment services for non-respiratory sleep disorders needs to be more integrated into the Canadian health care system.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Little research has focused on working with communities to promote and support children's occupational development. AIM/OBJECTIVE We used the Concerns Report Method (CRM) to identify community supports for parents with young children that could enhance children's occupational development. MATERIAL AND METHOD We conducted interviews/focus groups with parents (n = 29) and service providers (n = 11). We used content analysis to identify four themes: availability, barriers and facilitators, parent/child transitions, and making connections. The themes were used to create a concerns report survey for parents and service providers. A random sample of parents (n = 319) and convenience sample of service providers (n = 47) in one community area of a Canadian urban center completed the on-line survey. We held a community forum to review the results and identify solutions for action. RESULTS Parents' highest priorities included childcare, supports in community schools, preschool programs, and supports in one location. Service providers highest priorities included: identification of developmental concerns; parenting education; programs for fathers, programs that offer child care, a doctor, and child care. CONCLUSIONS Service providers need to engage parents and consider parents' perspectives when planning services to ensure community supports will meet parent identified needs. SIGNIFICANCE Using community-based participatory research approaches, occupational therapists can contribute to children's occupational development.

Abstract
Introduction: Pregnancy and childrearing can be an exciting and stressful time for new parents. The maternal-child health landscape has changed dramatically over the last few decades and research priorities need to address these rapid changes. There have been limited attempts to engage and collaborate with members of the public to develop research priorities for families who are expecting or parenting an infant to age 24 months. The work that has been completed has attempted to identify parental preference for information delivery and barriers to uptake of parenting programs but has not investigated parental research priorities. Methods: In collaboration with provincial research units and strategic clinical networks (SCN), we will use principles of participatory action research (PAR) as our theoretical framework/method, and a modified James Lind Alliance priority setting approach to prioritize a list of research questions that parents/knowledge users believe will support the health of their families. This will result in a top 10 list of parent/knowledge user-identified research priorities. This project will consist of three phases. In the first phase, we developed a steering committee of parents/knowledge users, healthcare providers, community agencies, and researchers to design a survey about health priorities for families. In the second phase, we will distribute the survey to diverse groups of parents/knowledge users/providers and hold a series of meetings to identify and prioritize potential questions from new parents about health issues from conception to age 24 months. In the third phase, we will collaboratively disseminate and translate findings. Discussion: This study will highlight parental health concerns and recommend parent-identified research priorities to inform future research projects needed to support the health of families between conception to age 24 months. Understanding the health research priorities of families in the community will help ensure future research contributes to meaningful changes in the health of young children, parents/knowledge users, and families. Ethics: This study and protocol have received ethical approved from the Conjoint Health Research Ethics Board at the University of Calgary (REB17-0014). Dissemination: The top 10 research priorities will be published and additional findings from the study will be distributed through pamphlets and newsletters.

Abstract
The ‘early years’ is a crucial period for the prevention of childhood obesity. Health services are well placed to deliver preventive programs to families, however, they usually rely on voluntary attendance, which is challenging given low parental engagement. This study explored factors influencing engagement in the Infant Program: a group-based obesity prevention program facilitated by maternal and child health nurses within first-time parent groups. Six 1.5 h sessions were delivered at three-month intervals when the infants were 3–18 months. A multi-site qualitative exploratory approach was used, and program service providers and parents were interviewed. Numerous interrelated factors were identified, linked to two themes: the transition to parenthood, and program processes. Personal factors enabling engagement included parents’ heightened need for knowledge, affirmation and social connections. Adjusting to the baby’s routine and increased parental self-efficacy were associated with diminished engagement. Organisational factors that challenged embedding program delivery into routine practice included aspects of program promotion, referral and scheduling and workforce resources. Program factors encompassed program content, format, resources and facilitators, with the program being described as meeting parental expectations, although some messages were perceived as difficult to implement. The study findings provide insight into potential strategies to address modifiable barriers to parental engagement in early-year interventions.

Abstract
The transition to parenthood is a period of both joy and challenge for most parents. There is a recognized need to support parents during this period, yet existing interventions have shown limited evidence of efficacy. This study takes a consumer-focused approach to examine the needs and preferences of parents both prenatally (n = 77) and postnatally (n = 123) for parenting support. The study used a cross-sectional design with a purpose-built online survey. Parents were recruited via online forums, Facebook and parenting blogs, childcare centers, and playgroups. In general, all parents were satisfied with their current levels of both formal and informal support, and about one fourth of parents had accessed a parenting intervention. Parents expressed a moderate level of interest in additional parenting information, and parents expecting their first baby indicated preferences for information about basic baby care needs whereas postnatally, parents expressed more interest in topics around self-care and behavior management. The implications for developing interventions and engaging families are discussed.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Up to 18% of men experience depression and/or anxiety during the transition to parenthood. Interventions designed specifically to promote the mental health of men during the transition to parenthood are scarce. Internet-delivered interventions may be acceptable and far-reaching in enhancing mental health, parenting knowledge, and healthy behaviors in expectant or new fathers. OBJECTIVE To guide the development of Healthydads.ca, a website designed to enhance mental health and healthy behaviors in expectant fathers, a needs assessment was conducted to identify fathers' perspectives of barriers to seeking help for emotional wellness, informational needs, and factors affecting the decision to visit such a website. METHODS One hundred and seventy-four men whose partners were expecting, or had recently given birth, in 3 Canadian provinces (Quebec, Ontario, and Alberta) completed a Web-based survey inquiring about information needs related to psychosocial aspects of the transition to parenthood, lifestyle behaviors, parenting, and factors associated with the decision to visit a father-focused website. RESULTS Most men (155/174, 89.1%) reported accessing the Internet to obtain information on pregnancy and spent an average of 6.2 hours online per month. Seeking information about parenting on the Internet was reported by 67.2% (117/174) of men, with a mean of 4.4 hours per month of online searching. Top barriers to seeking help to improve emotional wellness during the perinatal period were: no time to seek help/assistance (130/174, 74.7%), lack of resources available in the health care system (126/174, 72.4%), financial costs associated with services (118/174, 67.8%), and feeling that one should be able to do it alone (113/174, 64.9%). Information needs that were rated highly included: parenting/infant care (52.9-81.6%), supporting (121/174, 69.5%) and improving (124/174, 71.3%) relationship with their partner, work-family balance (120/174, 69.0%), improving sleep (100/174, 57.5%), and managing stress (98/174, 56.3%). Perceiving the website as personally relevant (151/174, 86.8%), credible (141/174, 81.0%), effective (140/145, 80.5%), and having an easy navigation structure (141/174, 81.0%) were identified as important factors related to a first website visit. Providing useful (134/174, 77.0%) and easy to understand (158/174, 90.8%) information, which was also free of charge (156/174, 89.7%), were considered important for deciding to prolong a website visit. Providing the possibility to post questions to a health professional (133/174, 76.4%), adding new content regularly (119/174, 68.4%), and personal motivation (111/174, 63.8%) were factors identified that would encourage a revisit. CONCLUSIONS Our findings demonstrate that there is substantial interest among expectant and new fathers for using Internet-delivered strategies to prepare for the transition to parenthood and support their mental health. Specific user and website features were identified to optimize the use of father-focused websites.

Abstract
Sleep deficiency has unique causes and implications for children with neonatal brain injury; contributing to the development or exacerbation of neurodevelopmental impairments and yet it is an underemphasized aspect of health and development. There is very little research evidence to guide the management of sleep disorders in children with cerebral palsy, a common neurodevelopmental disability of childhood. This paper is a comprehensive review and analysis of the literature regarding what is known about sleep quantity and quality in children with cerebral palsy. The specific implications for children with cerebral palsy are explored including the adverse effects of sleep deficiency on general child development, physical health and growth, and mental functioning. The consequences for the family are also discussed. Finally, the assessment and management of sleep problems are summarized to provide guidance to clinicians who work in neurodevelopmental medicine.

Abstract
PURPOSE To design and establish content and face validity of an evidence-informed tool that promotes parental self-reflection during the transition to parenthood. STUDY DESIGN AND METHODS The New Parent Checklist was developed using a three-phase sequential approach: Phase 1 a scoping review and expert consultation to develop and refine a prototype tool; Phase 2 content analysis of parent focus groups; and Phase 3 assessment of utility in a cross-sectional sample of parents completing the New Parent Checklist and a questionnaire. RESULTS The initial version of the checklist was considered by experts to contain key information. Focus group participants found it useful, appropriate, and nonjudgmental, and offered suggestions to enhance readability, utility, as well as face and content validity. In the cross-sectional survey, 83% of the participants rated the New Parent Checklist as "helpful" or "very helpful" and 90% found the New Parent Checklist "very easy" to use. Open-ended survey responses included predominantly positive feedback. Notable differences existed for some items based on respondents' first language, age, and sex. Results and feedback from all three phases informed the current version, available for download online. CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS The New Parent Checklist is a comprehensive evidence-informed self-reflective tool with promising content and face validity. Depending on parental characteristics and infant age, certain items of the New Parent Checklist have particular utility but may also require further adaptation and testing. Local resources for information and/or support are included in the tool and could be easily adapted by other regions to incorporate their own local resources.

Abstract
PURPOSE To understand how and where parents of infants and young children (children ≤5 years old) prefer to receive nutrition information. METHODS A 1-page survey was developed and pilot tested at 2 community agencies. The final survey was distributed at 18 community health centres (CHCs) in Calgary and surrounding rural areas. Any parent attending a well-child visit (child ≤5 years old) was able to participate. RESULTS Five hundred and twenty-nine surveys were completed. The majority of respondents at every CHC identified online reading (79.2%) in their home (86.0%) as the preferred method and location to receive nutrition information. Almost all (99.4%) participants had internet access. Handouts (38.6%) were the second most popular way to receive nutrition information. In-person and online classes were only a preferred method by a small percentage of respondents, 10.6% and 8.1%, respectively. CONCLUSIONS Appropriate, evidence-based nutrition websites should be promoted to parents with young children. Health professionals should be aware that parents likely access nutrition information online, and they need to provide an opportunity for parents to discuss what they found. Future research is needed to understand which websites parents access for online nutrition information and how they discern whether it is credible.

Abstract
Behavioral medicine provides insight in to the problem of injury prevention. Society often views unintentional injuries as only an accident when in reality many accident-related injuries are preventable. However, barriers to behavioral change in injury prevention exist for both patients (eg, inconvenience, perceived risk-benefit ratio) and health care providers (eg, feeling of badgering nonadherent patients, patient misinformation). To overcome barriers, the article discusses strategies for health care providers to address injury prevention such as choosing active over passive strategies, informing patients of predictable injury-prone circumstances, and individualizing patient risks.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The primary objective of this study was to elicit the perspectives of direct care providers on barriers and facilitators to communicating injury prevention messages to parents/caregivers of children under 4 years of age. The secondary objective was to examine characteristics of an injury prevention messaging strategy preferred by direct care providers. DESIGN AND SAMPLE This qualitative study was conducted across four regions in Ontario Canada. Fifty-nine direct care providers were purposefully sampled and data interpreted using focus group analysis. MEASURES Transcripts were analyzed verbatim using content and discourse analysis. RESULTS Several barriers to communicating injury prevention messages were identified encompassing (a) role, (b) parental, (c) social determinants, and (d) evidence impediments. In an effort to offset some of these barriers, participants endorsed the development of a tailored multicomponent injury prevention strategy adopting action-based messages. CONCLUSION The results of this study provide an in-depth exploration of direct care providers perceptions that can inform the design of materials and dissemination strategies to help increase and optimize access to injury prevention information. Injury prevention messages should be action-oriented, specifically tailored to the stage of child development, and disseminated through both face-to-face interactions and mobile technology.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Inequalities in Internet use and health information seeking are well documented, but less is known about information for family life activities. OBJECTIVE We investigated the social determinants of online family life information seeking behaviors and its associations with family well-being among Chinese adults in Hong Kong. METHODS A probability-based telephone survey was conducted in 2012 to record family life information seeking behaviors, including frequency of seeking and paying attention to family life information, levels of trust, and perceived usefulness of family life information. Family well-being was assessed using 3 single items on perceived family harmony, happiness, and health, with higher scores indicating greater well-being. Adjusted odds ratios for family life information seeking behaviors by socioeconomic characteristics and lifestyle behaviors, and adjusted beta coefficients for family well-being by family life information seeking behaviors were calculated. RESULTS Of 1537 respondents, 57.57% (855/1537) had ever and 26.45% (407/1537) sought monthly family life information through the Internet. Lower educational attainment and household income, smoking, and physical inactivity were associated with less frequent seeking and paying attention (all P<.05). Greater perceived family health was associated with more frequent attention (adjusted β=.32, 95% CI.11-.52), greater levels of trust (adjusted β=.28, 95% CI .07-.48), and perceived usefulness (adjusted β=.23, 95% CI .01-.45) of family life information. Frequent attention and higher level of trust were also associated with greater family harmony (adjusted β=.22, 95% CI .002-.41) and happiness (adjusted β=.23, 95% CI .003-.42), respectively. CONCLUSIONS This is the first study investigating family life information seeking behaviors and suggested inequalities of online family life information seeking behaviors. The association between family life information seeking behavior and family well-being needs to be confirmed in prospective studies.
