Investigating the dynamics of cytomegalovirus movement in viscoelastic Casson fluid: effects of electric and magnetic fields

Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a significant clinical pathogen posing risks, especially for immunocompromised individuals. This study investigates the transport dynamics of CMV within viscoelastic saliva, focusing on factors influencing viral mobility. We employed mathematical models, including the Basset-Boussinesq-Oseen (BBO) equation, to analyze how viral density, particle diameter, saliva viscosity, and external electric and magnetic fields affect CMV movement in the oesophagus. Novel insights include the discovery that smaller CMV particles move significantly faster compared to larger ones, highlighting a critical aspect of viral infectivity. Additionally, we found that increased peristaltic wave amplitudes in the oesophagus greatly enhance viral velocity. More notably, our investigation reveals that the application of external magnetic fields can manipulate CMV transport by exerting forces that reduce viral mobility, thus potentially lowering infection rates through electromagnetic interactions. These findings underscore the complex interplay between fluid rheology, particle shape, and external fields in viral dynamics, suggesting novel therapeutic interventions aimed at controlling CMV spread based on saliva viscosity and electromagnetic manipulation. Our research paves the way for innovative strategies in viral infection management and therapeutic development.

Hopf bifurcation in the shadow of extinction: Collaborating with epidemic dynamics through lethal mutations and declining ancestor infections

This study delves into the intricate realm of controlling Hopf and degenerate Hopf bifurcations within a Susceptible-Infectious-Susceptible model. Employing Braga's control theory as our cornerstone, we embark on an exploration of the model's dynamics, particularly focusing on an equilibrium point under the influence of control inputs. Our specific aim is to induce limit cycles associated with Hopf bifurcations of co-dimension 1 and 2. Through the integration of controllability principles, we endeavor to unravel the underlying mechanisms governing the manipulation of parameters to shape the occurrence and attributes of these periodic fluctuations. By examining how the behavior of infectious diseases changes in response to various control parameters, our study aims to provide a practical example of their application.

Modeling virus transport and dynamics in viscous flow medium

In this paper, we developed a mathematical model to simulate virus transport through a viscous background flow driven by the natural pumping mechanism. Two types of respiratory pathogens viruses (SARS-Cov-2 and Influenza-A) are considered in this model. The Eulerian-Lagrangian approach is adopted to examine the virus spread in axial and transverse directions. The Basset-Boussinesq-Oseen equation is considered to study the effects of gravity, virtual mass, Basset force, and drag forces on the viruses transport velocity. The results indicate that forces acting on the spherical and non-spherical particles during the motion play a significant role in the transmission process of the viruses. It is observed that high viscosity is responsible for slowing the virus transport dynamics. Small sizes of viruses are found to be highly dangerous and propagate rapidly through the blood vessels. Furthermore, the present mathematical model can help to better understand the viruses spread dynamics in a blood flow.

Progression of blood-borne viruses through bloodstream: A comparative mathematical study

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES

Blood-borne pathogens are contagious microorganisms that can cause life-threatening illnesses, and are found in human blood. It is crucial to examine how these viruses spread through blood flow in the blood vessel. Keeping that in view, this study aims to determine how blood viscosity, and diameter of the viruses can affect the virus transmission through the blood flow in the blood vessel. A comparative study of bloodborne viruses (BBVs) such as HIV, Hepatitis B, and C, has been addressed in the present model. A couple stress fluid model is used to represent blood as a carrying medium for virus transmission. The Basset-Boussinesq-Oseen equation is taken into account for the simulation of virus transmission.

METHODS

An analytical approach to derive the exact solutions under the assumption of long wavelength and low Reynolds number approximations is employed. For the computation of the results, a segment (wavelength) of blood vessels about 120 mm with wave velocities in the range of 49 - 190 mm/sec are considered, where the diameter of BBVs ranges from 40-120 nm. The viscosity of the blood varies from 3.5-5.5 × 10^-3Ns/m² which affect the virion motion having a density range 1.03 - 1. 25 g/m³.

RESULTS

It shows that the Hepatitis B virus is more harmful than other blood-borne viruses considered in the analysis. Patients with high blood pressure are highly susceptible for transmission of BBVs.

CONCLUSIONS

The present fluid dynamics approach for virus spread through blood flow can be helpful in understanding the dynamics of virus propagation inside the human circulatory system.

Recent Development and Future Prospective of Tiwari and Das Mathematical Model in Nanofluid Flow for Different Geometries: A Review

The rapid changes in nanotechnology over the last ten years have given scientists and engineers a lot of new things to study. The nanofluid constitutes one of the most significant advantages that has come out of all these improvements. Nanofluids, colloid suspensions of metallic and nonmetallic nanoparticles in common base fluids, are known for their astonishing ability to transfer heat. Previous research has focused on developing mathematical models and using varied geometries in nanofluids to boost heat transfer rates. However, an accurate mathematical model is another important factor that must be considered because it dramatically affects how heat flows. As a result, before using nanofluids for real-world heat transfer applications, a mathematical model should be used. This article provides a brief overview of the Tiwari and Das nanofluid models. Moreover, the effects of different geometries, nanoparticles, and their physical properties, such as viscosity, thermal conductivity, and heat capacity, as well as the role of cavities in entropy generation, are studied. The review also discusses the correlations used to predict nanofluids’ thermophysical properties. The main goal of this review was to look at the different shapes used in convective heat transfer in more detail. It is observed that aluminium and copper nanoparticles provide better heat transfer rates in the cavity using the Tiwari and the Das nanofluid model. When compared to the base fluid, the Al2O3/water nanofluid’s performance is improved by 6.09%. The inclination angle of the cavity as well as the periodic thermal boundary conditions can be used to effectively manage the parameters for heat and fluid flow inside the cavity.
