Abstract
Circadian disruption has been found to increase the risk of metabolic diseases, brain disorders, and cancer. The aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR), responsible for xenobiotic metabolism, is known to be activated by certain environmental stimuli, including polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). Exposure to these stimuli may lead to diseases related to circadian disruption, with AhR activation suggested as a leading cause. Both the aryl hydrocarbon receptor nuclear translocator (ARNT) and aryl hydrocarbon receptor nuclear translocator-like (BMAL1) are class II basic helix-loop-helix/Per-ARNT-SIM (bHLH-PAS) proteins. These proteins form heterodimers with stimulated class I bHLH-PAS proteins, including circadian locomotor output cycles kaput (CLOCK) and AhR. Due to their sequential similarity, the overactivation of AhR by toxicants, such as PAHs, may lead to the formation of heterodimers with BMAL1, potentially causing circadian disruption. Dysregulation of BMAL1 can affect a wide range of metabolic genes, emphasizing its crucial roles. However, this issue has not been adequately addressed. Previous studies have reported that the inhibitory effects of phytochemicals on AhR activation can ameliorate diseases induced by environmental toxicants. Additionally, some phytochemicals have shown preventive effects on circadian misalignment. Therefore, this Review aims to explore potential strategies to prevent circadian disruption induced by food-borne toxicants, such as benzo[a]pyrene; to generate new ideas for future studies; and to highlight the importance of investigating these preventive strategies.

Abstract
The characterization of human microbiota and the impact of its modifications on the health of individuals represent a current topic of great interest for the world scientific community. Scientific evidence is emerging regarding the role that microbiota has in the onset of important chronic illnesses. Since individuals spend most of their life at work, occupational exposures may have an impact on the organism's microbiota. The purpose of this review is to explore the influence that different occupational exposures have on human microbiota in order to set a new basis for workers' health protection and disease prevention. The literature search was performed in PubMed, Cochrane, and Scopus. A total of 5818 references emerged from the online search, and 31 articles were included in the systematic review (26 original articles and 5 reviews). Exposure to biological agents (in particular direct contact with animals) was the most occupational risk factor studied, and it was found involved in modifications of the microbiota of workers. Changes in microbiota were also found in workers exposed to chemical agents or subjected to work-related stress and altered dietary habits caused by specific microclimate characteristics or long trips. Two studies evaluated the role of microbiota changes on the development of occupational lung diseases. Occupational factors can interface with the biological rhythms of the bacteria of the microbiota and can contribute to its modifications and to the possible development of diseases. Future studies are needed to better understand the role of the microbiota and its connection with occupational exposure to promote projects for the prevention and protection of global health.

Abstract
The intestine, the largest immune organ in the human body, harbors approximately 1013 microorganisms, including bacteria, fungi, viruses, and other unknown microbes. The intestine is a most important crosstalk anatomic structure between the first (the host) and second (the microorganisms) genomes. The imbalance of the intestinal microecology, especially dysbiosis of the composition, structure, and function of gut microbiota, is linked to human diseases. In this review, we investigated the roles and underlying mechanisms of gut microecology in the development, progression, and prognosis of infectious diseases. Furthermore, we discussed potential new strategies of prevention and treatment for infectious diseases based on manipulating the composition, structure, and function of intestinal microorganisms in the future. Abstract
Alterations of diurnal rhythms of blood pressure (BP) and reshaping of gut microbiota are both independently associated with hypertension. However, the relationships between biorhythms of BP and gut microbial composition are unknown. We hypothesized that diurnal timing-associated alterations of microbial compositions are synchronous with diurnal rhythmicity, dip in BP, and renal function. To test this hypothesis, Dahl salt-sensitive (S) rats on low- and high-salt diets were examined for time of day effects on gut microbiota, BP, and indicators of renal damage. Major shifts in night and day patterns of specific groups of microbiota were observed between the dark (active) and light (rest) phases, which correlated with diurnal rhythmicity of BP. The diurnal abundance of Firmicutes, Bacteroidetes, and Actinobacteria were independently associated with BP. Discrete bacterial taxa were observed to correlate independently or interactively with one or more of the following 3 factors: (1) BP rhythm, (2) dietary salt, and (3) dip in BP. Phylogenetic Investigation of Communities revealed diurnal timing effects on microbial pathways, characterized by upregulated biosynthetic processes during the active phase of host, and upregulated degradation pathways of metabolites in the resting phase. Additional metagenomics functional pathways with rhythm variations were noted for aromatic amino acid metabolism and taurine metabolism. These diurnal timing dependent changes in microbiota, their functional pathways, and BP dip were associated with concerted effects of the levels of renal lipocalin 2 and kidney injury molecule-1 expression. These data provide evidence for a firm and concerted diurnal timing effects of BP, renal damage, and select microbial communities.
