Abstract
PURPOSE The aim of this investigation was to retrospectively evaluate the long-term implant loss rates and to identify associations between implant failure and patient-related factors in a sample of patients who had consecutively received implant therapy in ten dental universities in the United States using a large database. METHODS Dental records of adult patients who had attended the dental clinics of the universities contributing data to the BigMouth network between 2011 and 2022 seeking dental therapy were evaluated. Information regarding patients' characteristics including age, gender, ethnicity, race, tobacco use and systemic medical conditions were extracted from patients' files. RESULTS A total of 20,842 patients who received 50,333 dental implants over a 12-year period (2011-2022) were included. The mean age of the cohort was 57.50±14.27 years which consisted of 51.8% females, 91.1% non-Hispanic, 66.3% white individuals and 8% tobacco users. In the univariate analysis, ethnicity, race and marijuana use were significantly associated with implant treatment outcome. Race and ethnicity were significantly associated with implant loss in the multivariate analysis. The implant failure rate was estimated to be 2.7% at the patient level and 1.4% at the implant level. CONCLUSION Within the limitations of this retrospective study that utilized records of 50,333 dental implants placed in ten institutions contributing data to the BigMouth network, the implant failure rate was estimated to be 2.7% at patient level and 1.4% at implant level. Ethnicity and race were significantly associated with implant failure, while none of the examined systemic conditions were associated with implant loss.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To identify the psychosocial assessments utilized with individuals with conductive and/or mixed hearing loss as part of a broader effort by the Auditory Rehabilitation Outcomes Network (AURONET) group to develop a core set of patient-centred outcome measures. DESIGN A review of articles published between 2006 and 2016 was completed. Included studies had more than three adult participants, were available in English, and reported a psychosocial outcome from any treatment of mixed and/or conductive hearing loss. STUDY SAMPLE Sixty-six articles from seven databases. RESULTS Sixty-six articles met our inclusion/exclusion criteria. Within this set, 15 unique psychosocial or patient-reported outcome measures (PROs) were identified, with the Abbreviated Profile of Hearing Aid Benefit (APHAB) and Glasgow Benefit Inventory (GBI) being the most frequently dispensed. Five of the fifteen were only administered in one study. In-house questionnaires (IHQs) were reported in 19 articles. CONCLUSIONS Only 66 (22%) of the 300 articles with outcomes contained a PRO. Some of the mostly frequently employed PROs (e.g., APHAB) were judged to include only social items and no psychological items. Lack of PRO standardization and the use of IHQs make psychosocial comparisons across treatments in this population difficult for patients, clinicians and stakeholders.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES For more than twenty years, dental practice-based research networks (D-PBRN) have helped to structure clinical research in private practice. They bring together practitioners working in several structures and may include a greater number of subjects. The aims of this study were thus to systematically explore the scientific production from dental private practices in general and to map and describe the D-PBRN activity worldwide. DATA SOURCES Two research procedures were carried out in parallel. The first was conducted as a scoping review to examine peer-reviewed literature indexed in the PubMed database and the second was performed on the World Wide Web to identify the main characteristics of the networks (location, scientific production…). STUDY SELECTION 368 publications were identified among which 202 were published by PBRN members and the others by private practitioners not affiliated to any network. 210 (57 % of the included articles) were produced in the USA. A higher number of diverse centers are involved in each study when it is conducted by a PBRN (59.06 ± 66.59 vs. 13.51 ± 31.58 for networks and independent teams, respectively; p < 0.01). 24 D-PBRN were identified, a majority being based in the USA and 8 in Europe. CONCLUSIONS Although dental practice-based research has grown over the years, the number of D-PBRN worldwide remains low. Even if it requires some investment to produce research in dental offices, this type of networks helps to fill the gap between private practice and research and to improve knowledge on oral health. RELEVANCE The mapping of all the dental PBRN together with the research topics studied throughout the world make the relevance of this article. The ways to improve practice-based research in dentistry are also discussed in the paper.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Rehabilitation options for conductive and mixed hearing loss are continually expanding, but without standard outcome measures comparison between different treatments is difficult. To meaningfully inform clinicians and patients core outcome sets (COS), determined via a recognised methodology, are needed. Following our previous work that identified hearing, physical, economic and psychosocial as core areas of a future COS, the AURONET group reviewed hearing outcome measures used in existing literature and assigned them into different domains within the hearing core area. DESIGN Scoping review. STUDY SAMPLE Literature including hearing outcome measurements for the treatment of conductive and/or mixed hearing loss. RESULTS The literature search identified 1434 studies, with 278 subsequently selected for inclusion. A total of 837 hearing outcome measures were reported and grouped into nine domains. The largest domain constituted pure-tone threshold measurements accounting for 65% of the total outcome measures extracted, followed by the domains of speech testing (20%) and questionnaires (9%). Studies of hearing implants more commonly included speech tests or hearing questionnaires compared with studies of middle ear surgery. CONCLUSIONS A wide range of outcome measures are currently used, highlighting the importance of developing a COS to inform individual practice and reporting in trials/research.
