Abstract
PURPOSE Vestibular neuritis (VN) is a common cause of vertigo with significant impact on patients' quality of life. This study aimed to analyze global research trends in VN using bibliometric methods to identify key themes, influential authors, institutions, and countries contributing to the field. METHODS We conducted a comprehensive search of the Web of Science Core Collection database for publications related to VN from 1980 to 2024. Bibliometric data including publication year, keywords, citations, authors, journals, institutions, and countries were extracted and analyzed using VOSviewer software. RESULTS A total of 624 publications were identified, showing a steady increase in VN research output, particularly after 2003. South Korea and the USA were the most prolific countries, while Acta Oto-Laryngologica and Otology & Neurotology were the leading journals in terms of publication count. Michael Strupp emerged as the most productive author. Keyword analysis revealed prominent research themes including diagnosis, treatment (vestibular rehabilitation, pharmacological interventions), pathophysiology, and the impact of VN on vestibular function. CONCLUSIONS This bibliometric analysis provides a comprehensive overview of global VN research. The findings highlight the growing research interest in VN, with a focus on improving diagnostic accuracy, optimizing treatment strategies, and understanding the underlying mechanisms. This study can serve as a valuable resource for researchers, clinicians, and policymakers interested in the field of VN.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Microtia usually presents as a unilateral defect often associated with hearing impairment and significant psychosocial challenges. Reconstruction with autologous rib cartilage is currently the gold standard due to lower complication rates. However, outcomes remain variable. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES This study aims to assess the outcomes of a modified two-stage surgery technique, focusing on complications, aesthetics, satisfaction, and quality of life. MATERIALS AND METHODS A retrospective review of 130 patients undergoing ear reconstruction from 2016 to 2022 was conducted. Data included defect etiology, classification, and complications. Quality of Life was assessed using an adaptation of the questionnaire proposed by UK Care Standards for the Management of Patients with Microtia and Atresia. RESULTS Most patients had congenital microtia (78%), with type III being the most common (81%). The majority were male (73%), with a mean age of 21 years. Surgeon-assessed outcomes were good in 90% of cases. The most common complication was partial skin necrosis (13%). Among 73 respondents (answer rate of 56%), there was a significant improvement in quality of life post-reconstruction (p = 2.4e-12). CONCLUSION Modifications to Firmin's technique, such as smaller thoracic incisions, limited dissection, and specific flap designs, enhanced aesthetic results while reducing complications. In conclusion, our modified technique offers improved outcomes in microtia reconstruction, emphasizing the importance of technical refinements in achieving satisfactory results and enhancing patient well-being. Abstract
Introduction The impacts of plastic pollution on soil ecosystems have emerged as a significant global environmental concern. The progress in understanding how plastic pollution affects soil microbial communities and ecological functions is essential for addressing this issue effectively. Methods A bibliometric analysis was conducted on the literature from the Web of Science Core Collection database to offer valuable insights into the dynamics and trends in this field. Results To date, the effects of plastic residues on soil enzymatic activities, microbial biomass, respiration rate, community diversity and functions have been examined, whereas the effects of plastic pollution on soil microbes are still controversial. Discussion To include a comprehensive examination of the combined effects of plastic residue properties (Type, element composition, size and age), soil properties (soil texture, pH) at environmentally relevant concentrations with various exposure durations under field conditions in future studies is crucial for a holistic understanding of the impact of plastic pollution on soil ecosystems. Risk assessment of plastic pollution, particularly for nanoplasctics, from the perspective of soil food web and ecosystem multifunctioning is also needed. By addressing critical knowledge gaps, scholars can play a pivotal role in developing strategies to mitigate the ecological risks posed by plastic pollution on soil microorganisms.

Abstract
Background Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a common cardiovascular disease that seriously threatens human lives. Anticoagulant therapy is considered to be the cornerstone of VTE treatment. An increasing number of studies has been updated in the VTE anticoagulation field. However, no bibliometric analyses have assessed these publications comprehensively. Therefore, our study aimed to analyze the global status, hotspots, and trends of anticoagulant therapy for VTE. Methods The relevant literature on VTE anticoagulation published between 2012 and 2021 was retrieved and collected from the Web of Science Core Collection database. VOSviewer, Cooccurrence Matrix Builder, gCLUTO, and some online visualization tools were adopted for bibliometric analysis. Results A total of 15,152 related articles were retrieved. In recent years, the research output of VTE anticoagulation gradually increased. The United States was the most productive country. International cooperation is concentrated in North America and Europe; the most influential documents, journals, authors, and organizations were also from these two continents. Research hotspots mainly focus on clinical guidelines, VTE in special populations, non-vitamin K oral anticoagulants (NOACs), and parenteral anticoagulation. The research frontiers and trends include the assessment of NOACs and the antithrombotic management of VTE complicated with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Conclusion This bibliometric analysis provides a systematic overview of the VTE anticoagulation research, which will facilitate researchers to better understand the situation of VTE anticoagulation. Future studies should be dedicated to NOACs application and VTE-combined COVID-19 patients.

Abstract
Tissue engineering is a relatively recent research area aimed at developing artificial tissues that can restore, maintain, or even improve the anatomical and/or functional integrity of injured tissues. Otolaryngology, as a leading surgical specialty in head and neck surgery, is a candidate for the use of these advanced therapies and medicinal products developed. Nevertheless, a knowledge-based analysis of both areas together is still needed. The dataset was retrieved from the Web of Science database from 1900 to 2020. SciMAT software was used to perform the science mapping analysis and the data for the biomedical translation identification was obtained from the iCite platform. Regarding the analysis of the cognitive structure, we find consolidated research lines, such as the generation of cartilage for use as a graft in reconstructive surgery, reconstruction of microtia, or the closure of perforations of the tympanic membrane. This last research area occupies the most relevant clinical translation with the rest of the areas presenting a lower translational level. In conclusion, Tissue engineering is still in an early translational stage in otolaryngology, otology being the field where most advances have been achieved. Therefore, although otolaryngologists should play an active role in translational research in tissue engineering, greater multidisciplinary efforts are required to promote and encourage the translation of potential clinical applications of tissue engineering for routine clinical use.

Abstract
Background GABA-A receptors are the primary mediators of brain inhibitory neurotransmission. In the past years, many studies focused on this channel to decipher the pathogenesis of related diseases but lacked bibliometric analysis research. This study aims to explore the research status and identify the research trends of GABA-A receptor channels. Methods Publications related to GABA-A receptor channels were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection from 2012 to 2022. After screening, the VOSviewer 1.6.18 and Citespace 5.8 R3 were used for bibliometric analysis from journals, countries, institutions, authors, co-cited references and keywords. Results We included 12,124 publications in the field of GABA-A receptor channels for analysis. The data shows that although there was a slight decrease in annual publications from 2012 to 2021, it remained at a relatively high level. Most publications were in the domain of neuroscience. Additionally, the United States was the most prolific country, followed by China. Univ Toronto was the most productive institution, and James M Cook led essential findings in this field. Furthermore, brain activation, GABAAR subunits expression, modulation mechanism in pain and anxiety behaviors and GABA and dopamine were paid attention to by researchers. And top research frontiers were molecular docking, autoimmune encephalitic series, obesity, sex difference, diagnosis and management, EEG and KCC2. Conclusion Taken together, academic attention on GABA-A receptor channels was never neglected since 2012. Our analysis identified key information, such as core countries, institutions and authors in this field. Molecular docking, autoimmune encephalitic series, obesity, sex difference, diagnosis and management, EEG and KCC2 will be the future research direction.

Abstract
PURPOSE Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS) is a chronic neurological disorder and the incidence of RLS is a more common disease than known is accepted. This study was performed to identify and analyze the characteristics of RLS-related articles published from 2001 to 2020 using bibliometric analyses. METHODS RLS-related articles published from 2001 to 2020 were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection database with predefined search terms. VOSviewer software was used to visualize various bibliographic coupling networks on data. The top 10 lists (about organizations, papers, journals, most commonly cited articles, authors, countries, and keywords) extracted from 2001 to 2020 were also analyzed. RESULTS A total of 2311 articles were included and the total number of publications from 2001 to 2020 was increased by 5.02-fold. The highest number of RLS publications (n = 171) since 2001 was observed in 2020. The United States is contributed the highest number of RLS-related publications (34.53%). The top productive journal was Sleep Medicine and the most prominent organization was Johns Hopkins University. In the list of top 10 authors, Allen RP was the first author. CONCLUSIONS This study is the first bibliometric analysis that provides a general perspective on the RLS from 2001 to 2020 and may be useful as a guide for further research in this field.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Artificial intelligence (AI) has been extensively applied in the individualized diagnosis and treatment of critical illness, and numerous studies have been published on this topic. Therefore, a bibliometric analysis of these publications should be performed to provide a direction of hot topics and future research trends. METHODS A bibliometric analysis was performed on the research articles to identify the hot topics and any unsolved issues regarding the use of AI in individualized diagnosis and treatment of critical illness. Articles published from January 2011 to December 2021 were retrieved from the Web of Science (WOS) core collection database for bibliometric analysis, and a cross-sectional analysis of the relevant studies that had been registered at ClinicalTrials.gov was also conducted. RESULTS The number of articles published showed an annually increasing trend, with a worldwide geographic distribution over the past decade. Ultimately, 427 research articles were included in the bibliometric analysis. The relevant articles were divided into four separate clusters that focused on AI application aspects, prediction model establishment, coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) treatment and outcome assessments, respectively. "Machine learning" was the most frequent keyword (147 occurrences, 165 links, and 395 total link strengths) followed by "risk", "models", and "mortality". With 205 articles, the United States of America (USA) had interacted the most with other countries (20 links, and 94 total link strength), while the domestic research institutes in China had infrequently collaborated with others. Approximately 130 trials focusing on the application of AI in the intensive care unit (ICU) and emergency department (ED) had been registered at ClinicalTrial.gov, and most of them (n=71, 54.6%) were interventional. The main research objectives of these trials were to provide decision making assistance and establish prediction models. However, only 3.8% (5 trials) of them had reached exact conclusions which favored the application of AI. CONCLUSIONS The application of AI has raised great interest in critical illness and has mainly been focused on decision making assistance and prediction model establishment. Cooperation between agencies engaged in AI research needs to be strengthened. An increasing number of trials have been registered at ClinicalTrial.gov, and the results of them are promising.
