Abstract
Introduction Kidney diseases pose a serious healthcare problem because of their high prevalence, worsening of patients' quality of life, and high mortality. Patients with kidney diseases are often asymptomatic until disease progression starts. Expensive renal replacement therapy options, such as dialysis or kidney transplant, are required for end-stage kidney disease. Early diagnosis of kidney pathology is crucial for slowing down or curbing further damage. This study aimed to analyze the features of the protein composition of blood plasma in patients with the most common kidney pathologies: kidney calculus, kidney cyst, and kidney cancer. Methods The study involved 75 subjects. Proteins associated with kidney pathologies (CFB, SERPINA3, HPX, HRG, SERPING1, HBB, ORM2, and CP) were proposed. These proteins are important participants of complement and coagulation cascade activation and lipid metabolism. Results The revealed phosphorylated proteoforms (CFB, C4A/C4B, F2, APOB, TTR, and NRAP) were identified. For them, modification sites were mapped on 3D protein models, and the potential role in formation of complexes with native partner proteins was assessed. Discussion The study demonstrates that the selected kidney pathologies have a similar proteomic profile, and patients can be classified into kidney pathology groups with an accuracy of (70-80)%.

Abstract
Squamous cell carcinoma, originating in the renal pelvis, is an infrequent form of kidney malignancy. The occurrence rate remains below 1% for all neoplasms in this specific area. Most of these carcinomas are moderately or poorly differentiated, and diagnosis typically occurs at an advanced stage. Xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis is an uncommon form of severe chronic infection that affects the parenchyma of native kidneys. We present the case of a 34-year-old male with a history of end-stage renal disease secondary to recurrent pyelonephritis, which was incidentally diagnosed as renal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC).

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Renal cancer is a significant global cause of death and clear cell being the most common subtype. Bilateral synchronous renal cancers with different histologies are extremely rare and less reported. Managing bilateral renal cancer is challenging. CLINICAL PRESENTATION A 51-year-old woman with a history of hypertension and hypothyroidism presented with right loin pain, leading to the discovery of a 7 cm right renal mass and a 2.3 × 2.6 cm mass on the upper pole of the left kidney, associated with reactive right para-aortic lymph nodes. The right kidney mass was identified as leiomyosarcoma with liver metastasis while the left kidney mass was diagnosed as clear cell renal carcinoma. Patient was managed with right side nephrectomy, left side microwave ablation and follow-up chemotherapy. DISCUSSION Primary leiomyosarcoma of kidney is extremely rare and aggressive, leading to poor outcome. Synchronous bilateral renal cancer pose surgical challenges due to potential loss of renal function. In this case of differing histologies in synchronous bilateral renal masses, a nephron-sparing approach was taken, but despite aggressive treatment, the patient developed metastases in the liver and peritoneum. CONCLUSION Bilateral synchronous renal cancer, particularly with differing histologies in each kidney, are exceptionally uncommon, making their management challenging. Despite the limited guidance available due to their rarity, addressing these cases aggressively and promptly is crucial, as their prognosis is generally unfavorable, necessitating further research to advance management strategies.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Renal cancer is a relatively common form of cancer; however, squamous cell carcinoma of the kidney is extremely rare and it carries poor prognosis. CLINICAL PRESENTATION We present a rare case of renal squamous cell carcinoma that was manifested with the psoas sign in a patient with a history of chronic staghorn calculus. DISCUSSION Squamous cell carcinoma of kidney is rare and more invasive. Even though many risk factors have been identified, staghorn renal calculi with chronic infection have a higher incidence of renal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) has a wider range of atypical presentations; the psoas sign is not commonly reported in other literature. Due to the lack of reporting and sufficient knowledge, there are currently no established management guidelines. Despite advancements in contemporary medicine, the survival rate of renal SCC remains remarkably low, necessitating further research to develop a standardized treatment protocol. CONCLUSION Primary renal SCCs are rare tumors and exhibit a strong association with renal stones, requiring prompt assessment and treatment of renal stones in affected patients. Despite their aggressiveness and poor prognosis, timely intervention is crucial.

Abstract
Abstract
Background
Primary renal squamous cell carcinoma is a scarce entity, and its presentation as a discharging sinus is still exceptionally rare. We hereby report a case of a renal cell carcinoma in a young gentleman.
Case presentation
We report a case of a 20-year-old gentleman who presented with clinical features suggestive of left side xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis (XGPN). He had undergone multiple endourological procedures for left side renal calculi in the past. We present the clinical presentation, diagnostic dilemmas and treatment for this patient. We performed an open radical nephrectomy for this patient. Our case report is unique from the point of view of nature of presentation to the final histopathological outcome in terms of age group of the patient.
Here we present the clinical management and dilemmas in the management of this unusual and rare case.
Conclusions
Our case report and presentation has taught us that we as clinicians must have a high index of suspicion for a renal malignancy when treating patients who present with pyonephrosis associated with long-standing calculi diseases, irrespective of the age group of the patient.

Abstract
ABSTRACT Squamous cell carcinoma of the kidney is a rare malignancy, usually not suspected clinically because of the lack of any pathognomic sign and ambiguous clinical and radiological features, and thus, patients present at advanced stages resulting in poor prognosis. We report here four cases of incidentally diagnosed primary renal squamous cell carcinoma that were treated at our hospital. The mean age of the patients (two females and one male aged above 60 years, except one male whose age was 25 years) was 60 years. Both the males and one of the females had a history of multiple renal calculi, and the other female had staghorn calculus. Interestingly, renal carcinoma was not suspected clinically in all these patients. In one case, a computerized tomography scan (CT scan) showed suspicious mass. All underwent nephrectomy for the non-functioning kidney. In only two cases, tumor was identified on gross examination, whereas the other two only showed a distorted pelvis. Our case series emphasizes the need for pelvicalyceal biopsy during diagnosis and treatment for long-standing nephrolithiasis and thorough sampling of nephrectomy specimens of such patients to rule out malignancy.

Abstract
Background: Primary squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the kidney, a rare malignancy that accounts for less than 1% of all urinary tract malignancies, is usually diagnosed in late stages because of the lack of characteristic clinical and imaging features and aggressive behavior. Case Report: A 66-year-old male presented with complaints of right flank pain. Imaging suggested the differential diagnoses of xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis or renal malignancy extending into segment VI of the liver. Right subcapsular nephrectomy was performed, and nonbilious fluid from the liver cavitary lesions was drained. Histopathologic examination showed that the lesion was a renal SCC with contiguous malignant infiltration of the liver that led to a renohepatic fistula. Conclusion: Renal SCC is a rare high-grade neoplasm and can present in an unusual form with a poor prognosis.

Abstract
Renal squamous cell carcinoma is a rare neoplasm in adults, but with an aggressive behavior. It is diagnosed in most cases in advanced stages. The invasion of the digestive tract by this type of tumor is rare, due to the anatomical arrangement of the colon, however, when it occurs, it carries a poor prognosis for the patient. Digestive endoscopy allows us to reach a definitive diagnosis since these patients usually present digestive manifestations, such as diarrhoea, digestive bleeding or abdominal pain.

Abstract
Primary squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the renal pelvis is a rare malignancy. We report a case of a 43-year-old male presenting with stones and a non-functioning kidney. Incidental SCC was diagnosed histopathologically on nephrectomy. The patient then returned with metastasis to the liver after one year. Nephrolithiasis is the most important risk factor implicated in renal SCC; hence, awareness of this rare entity in a patient of long-standing nephrolithiasis is important.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Renal cyst is a common benign disease which is rare to progress from simple renal cyst to renal cell carcinoma. CASE PRESENTATION A 62-year-old woman who suffered a simple renal cyst for over 20 years complained intermittent lumbar in recent 2 years. At her latest admission, the cyst lesion displayed enhancement in the cystic wall by CT scan and cystic to partially solid change by ultrasound, so we did a partial nephrectomy and found that the cystic lesion had become a cyst-solid transition. The pathology turned out to be renal clear cell carcinoma. CONCLUSIONS Although the canceration of a renal cyst is a small probability event, patients with a long history of a cyst, especially those with symptoms, need to seek for medical treatment in time, and if necessary, lesion biopsy or resection may be under consideration.

Abstract
Introduction Squamous cell carcinoma of the renal pelvis is a rare neoplasm, accounting for less than 0.8% of malignant renal tumors. Chronic irritation is believed to be the primary pathogenic cause for squamous cell carcinoma of the renal pelvis. The most frequently reported cases of squamous cell carcinoma of the renal pelvis generally present with hydronephrosis, pyelonephritis, or nephrolithiasis. The skin of the flank is a very uncommon site of clinical presentation. Here, we report an exceedingly rare case of squamous cell carcinoma of the renal pelvis presenting as skin invasion of the flank. Case presentation A 66-year-old Han Chinese man consulted our hospital because of a right lumbar skin lesion lasting more than 3 months. His physical examination revealed that he had a palpable mass about 6.0 cm × 5.0 cm in size at the posterior axillary line in the right low back with skin ulceration 3 mm in diameter and exudation on it. Magnetic resonance imaging showed hydronephrosis of the right kidney and plaque-like abnormal signal in the middle portion of the kidney. The patient underwent a right nephrectomy. The sinus tract formation between the ulcerative skin in the right low back and the middle portion of the right kidney could be found. The distended kidney could not be excised entirely for tight adhesion. Pathological examination showed moderately differentiated renal squamous cell carcinoma with invasion of the renal parenchyma and perirenal adipose tissue. Conclusion It is extremely rare for renal squamous cell carcinoma to present as skin invasion. Recurrent percutaneous nephrolithotomy may be a risk factor for squamous cell carcinoma of the renal pelvis. The possibility of renal squamous cell carcinoma should be kept in mind in patients who have hydronephrosis, nephrolithiasis, or chronic pyelonephritis for a long time or with renal anomalies. More radiological examinations are suggested for such patients.

Abstract
Xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis (XGP) and primary renal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) are both rare conditions that can present very similarly in a patient with renal staghorn calculi. We report a case of a 54-year-old male who presented with fatigue, vomiting and significant acute weight loss. The patient was initially believed to have XGP, but was ultimately diagnosed with both XGP and primary renal SCC. This case report and literature review is meant to elucidate the similarities and differences between XGP and primary renal SCC as both can be diagnostically challenging.

Abstract
Abstract
Background
Primary squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the kidney is a rare entity which tends to be associated with nephrolithiasis, chronic irritation, and infection. Due to its rarity and the non-specific clinical signs and symptoms as well as radiological findings, it is often not suspected preoperatively. Patients with SCC of the renal pelvis typically present with advanced stage disease and have a poor outcome. Most of our current knowledge of SCC of the renal pelvis has been derived from case reports or limited case series, and there are no standard treatment guidelines. The clinical, radiological, and histopathological findings of this unusual neoplasm are described herein.
Case presentation
A 61-year-old female presented with left flank pain and sepsis. A computerized tomography (CT) scan showed renal calculi and hydronephrosis, and a mercapto-acetyl triglycine (MAG-3) scan showed a left-sided non-functioning kidney. She underwent a nephrectomy for an infected, non-functioning kidney. Histopathological examination revealed an invasive, moderately differentiated squamous cell carcinoma.
Conclusion
The significance of this case is highlighted by the unusual location of such a tumour, and while rare, it is an important consideration in the differential diagnoses of renal tumours. The present case report may assist patient management of this rare tumour by highlighting and documenting treatment and clinical outcome of our patient.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Primary squamous cell carcinoma of the renal parenchyma is extremely rare, only 5 cases were reported. CASE PRESENTATION We probably report the fifth case of primary Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the renal parenchyma in a 61-year-old female presenting with intermittent distending pain for 2 months. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) revealed hydronephrosis of the right kidney, but a tumor cannot be excluded completely. Finally, nephrectomy was performed, and histological analysis determined that the diagnosis was kidney parenchyma squamous cell carcinoma involving perinephric adipose tissue. CONCLUSIONS The present case emphasizes that it is difficult to make an accurate preoperative diagnosis with the presentation of hidden malignancy, such as hydronephrosis.

Abstract
Squamous cell carcinoma of kidney is a rare tumour of the many tumours seen in the kidney. It is usually associated with chronic irritation by a foreign body, which is mostly a stag horn calculus. Diagnosis of carcinoma in the presence of stag horn calculus is bizarre as it is seen in only <1% of patients. After imaging in this patient, the lymph nodes were enlarged and showed necrosis, which favoured the diagnosis of tuberculosis in a country where it is endemic. The pathological examination after surgery has amazed us by the presence of squamous cell carcinoma with lymph nodes positive with metastasis to vertebrae as the patient has presented to us with all symptoms of infection like pain and fever, which never made us think about malignancy preoperatively.

Abstract
Primary renal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is a rare primary malignancy of the kidney. Diagnosis is usually delayed because of its lack of characteristic clinical and imaging features and inherent aggressive nature. We present a case of primary renal SCC in a 66-year-old woman with bilateral renal calculi and a complex right lower pole renal mass. The diagnosis of primary renal SCC was established based on the histopathology after right nephrectomy.

Abstract
Primary squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of renal pelvis is a rare neoplasm. A 75-year old male presented with history of chronic dull aching pain in left flank region for last 10-years with history of left pyelolithotomy about 30-years back. After proper workup, large calculus with heterogeneous density mass detected in nonfunctioning left kidney. After radical nephrectomy, histopathological examination revealed squamous cell carcinoma of renal pelvis. SCC should be suspected in a patient with long history of renal calculous and associated mass in non functioning kidney.
