Abstract
Objectives: The primary objective of this systematic review was to compare IIP in intact versus non-intact sockets in terms of buccal bone thickness. Methods: Two independent reviewers carried out an electronic literature search in PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, and Cochrane databases as well as a manual search to identify eligible clinical studies up to June 2024. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs), cohort studies, and case series on intact and/or non-intact sockets were included for analysis. The primary outcome was buccal bone thickness (BBT). Secondary outcomes were vertical midfacial soft tissue level change, pink esthetic score (PES), implant survival and complications. This systematic review was conducted in accordance with the PRISMA guidelines. Results: After screening 1001 unique titles and conducting manual searches, 20 articles reporting on 525 implants (intact: 265; non-intact: 260) in the anterior maxilla with a follow-up of up to 120 months were selected. The overall study quality was low, especially for non-intact sockets since only two RCTs could be found, and none demonstrated a low risk of bias. Meta-analyses were not feasible due to a lack of direct comparisons, and heterogeneity in terms of surgical approach, soft tissue handling, and restorative approach. BBT ranged between 1.10 and 3.18 mm (intact) and 1.18 and 3 mm (non-intact). Vertical midfacial soft tissue level change ranged between -0.13 and -0.58 mm (intact) and -0.03 and -0.59 mm (non-intact). Pink esthetic scores ranged between 10.48 and 12.80 (intact) and 9.25 and 12.43 (non-intact). Implant survival exceeded 90% in all studies and was 100% in the vast majority of the studies. Conclusions: This systematic review suggests a similar outcome of IIP in intact and non-intact sockets. However, the overall low study quality, a lack of direct comparisons, and heterogeneity rendered the comparison highly biased. Future studies should be conducted to establish an evidence-based treatment approach for IIP in non-intact sockets.

Abstract
PURPOSE Several forms of autogenous tooth graft have been presented. However, it is still unclear which form provides better bone formation and is the best to use clinically. This network meta-analysis aimed to thoroughly evaluate the available literature on the ability of different forms of the autogenous tooth graft to promote bone regeneration, in order to explore if any specific type or method of processing would result in better overall outcomes. METHODS MEDLINE/PubMed, Cochrane library, and Scopus databases were searched, to find randomized clinical trials, published up to November 29, 2023, which compared two forms of autogenous tooth graft or any form of this material with other bone grafts or with empty sockets and reported the percentage of bone formation in the grafted sites. RESULTS Of 1129 articles found, nine were included. The outcomes of this meta-analysis indicated that demineralized dentin, demineralized root with BMP-2 and undemineralized tooth all showed significantly higher bone formation, compared to xenograft; Mean difference (MD) = 23.25, 95% Confidence interval (CI) = 7.42 to 39.08, MD = 17.09, 95% CI = 4.03 to 30.15, and MD = 12.40, 95% CI = 5.64 to 19.16, respectively. Following the GRADE system, the level of evidence was judged to be low/very low. CONCLUSION Choosing the undemineralized tooth could be a better option than other forms of this material, considering the complexity, time, and cost of the other forms of autogenous tooth graft. Nevertheless, future investigations with more direct comparisons are highly needed, considering the small number of included studies and the low level of evidence obtained from this meta-analysis.

Abstract
Periodontally accelerated osteogenic orthodontics (PAOO) is an adjunctive technique in orthodontic treatment, based on the principle of the regional acceleratory phenomenon (RAP). It aims to shorten orthodontic treatment duration by enhancing osteoclast activity. In recent years, the surgical approach of PAOO has been gradually optimized with the development of techniques such as piezosurgical corticotomy and alveolar micro-osteoperforations. The materials used have also improved, including novel grafting materials such as bioactive glass and new barrier membranes like platelet-rich fibrin. Thanks to these clinical innovations, PAOO is evolving toward a trend of minimal pain, low invasiveness, and high efficacy. However, clinical research on PAOO remains limited, large-sample, multicenter randomized controlled trials are still needed to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of different surgical techniques and grafting materials in PAOO.

Abstract
The biomaterial of dentin has emerged as a promising candidate for the tissue engineering of dental hard tissues. In bone tissue engineering, it may serve as either a scaffold or a reservoir of growth factors. The physical and chemical similarities between the dentin structure and bone have sparked scientific interest in using its features for the development of a new bone transplant material. Dentin, unlike hard and fragile enamel, is viscoelastic, making it a very effective bone replacement. The regeneration of pulp tissue has proven challenging due to its encasement in dentin, which lacks collateral blood flow except from the apical end of the root. Yet, the emergence of contemporary tissue engineering and the identification of dental stem cells have enabled experimentation with the regeneration of both pulp and dentin. This review will explain the different types of dentin grafts, their biocompatibility, safety, and effectiveness, along with difficulties. Additionally, the paper covers several strategies for creating autogenous dentin grafts and gives evidence-based insights into their clinical effectiveness. Overall, dentin grafts appear as a potential alternative to standard graft materials, stimulating tissue regeneration and enhancing patient outcomes in regenerative dentistry operations.

Abstract
Autogenous dentin matrix (ADM), derived from a patient's extracted tooth, can be repurposed as an autologous grafting material in reconstructive dentistry. Extracted teeth provide a source for ADM, which distinguishes itself with its low rejection rate, osteoinductive capabilities and ease of preparation. Consequently, it presents a viable alternative to autogenous bone. Animal studies have substantiated its effective osteoinductive properties, while its clinical applications encompass post-extraction site preservation, maxillary sinus floor augmentation, and guided bone tissue regeneration. Nevertheless, the long-term efficacy of ADM applied in bone regeneration remains underexplored and there is a lack of standardization in the preparation processes. This paper comprehensively explores the composition, mechanisms underlying osteoinductivity, preparation methods, and clinical applications of ADM with the aim of establishing a fundamental reference for future studies on this subject.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The aim of this narrative review was to provide insights into the influence of the morphological characteristics of the anatomical structures of the upper jaw based on cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) analysis on the immediate implant placement in this region. MATERIAL AND METHODS To conduct this research, we used many electronic databases, and the resulting papers were chosen and analyzed. From the clinical point of view, the region of the anterior maxilla is specific and can be difficult for immediate implant placement. FINDINGS Anatomical structures in the anterior maxilla, such as the nasopalatine canal and accessory canals, may limit and influence the implant therapy outcome. In addition to the aforementioned region, immediate implant placement in the posterior maxilla may be challenging for clinicians, especially in prosthetic-driven immediate implant placement procedures. Data presented within the recently published materials summarize the investigations performed in order to achieve more reliable indicators that may make more accurate decisions for clinicians. CONCLUSION The possibility for immediate implant placement may be affected by the NPC shape in the anterior maxilla, while the presence of ACs may increase the incidence of immediate implant placement complications. The variations in IRS characteristics may be considered important criteria for choosing the implant properties required for successful immediate implant placement.

Abstract
PURPOSE The Allogenic Demineralized Dentin Matrix (Allo-DDM) has been introduced as a new grafting material, and several investigations were conducted, showing its efficacy in bone augmentation. The objective of this systematic review was to evaluate the available literature on the Allo-DDM, revealing its clinical performance when used for implant placement procedures. METHODS This study is registered in the PROSPERO database (number: CRD42021264885, date: 30/7/2021). Four databases, as well as the grey literature, were searched, selecting human studies where the Allo-DDM was applied to augment implant-recipient sites. RESULTS Six articles were included. The total number of implants placed in Allo-DDM-grafted sites was 149. Mean implant stability quotient values (ISQ) were 60.4 and 68.67 for the primary and secondary ISQ, respectively (data from one study). Buccal marginal bone loss around implants was approximately 1.46 mm after 24 months of prosthetic loading (data from one study). Two studies documented a total of 6 cases of dehiscence of the grated area, however, not affecting early implant success. Histological findings from all studies showed new bone formation around the graft particles. CONCLUSION A low number of publications are available, presenting only preliminary results, thus the long-term success/survival of implants still needs to be further explored. Moreover, the possibility of bony dehiscence with the use of this material should be investigated. Within these limitations, the Allo-DDM could be a possible alternative to other grafting materials used for bone augmentation and implant placement. Nevertheless, considering this limited evidence, future studies are necessary to confirm this conclusion.

Abstract
PURPOSE A jumping gap (JG) refers to the implant's future buccal wall; this study aims to estimate the jumping gap dimension in relation to virtual implant placement and subsequently link the implant diameter and implant position with the anatomical site. METHODS This observational study was conducted to analyze the maxillary teeth in the esthetic zone from cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans using OnDemand software. The horizontal jumping gap dimension of each tooth was assessed by subtracting the calculated virtual implant diameter from the socket dimensions. RESULTS A total of 253 anterior and premolar maxillary teeth were analyzed from 52 CBCT scans. The estimated JG dimensions were 1.23 ± 0.59 mm, 1.80 ± 0.64 mm, 3.02 ± 0.69 mm, for central incisors, lateral incisors and canines respectively, 3.70 ± 0.68 mm for the first premolars showing the highest horizontal gap and 3.19 ± 0.88 mm for second premolars. The incisors showed the smallest horizontal gap compared to the canines and premolars. CONCLUSIONS In terms of JG, immediate implant placement is more favorable at the canine and premolar sites. By contrast, the incisors sites should be handled with extreme caution, where the use of narrower implants is advisable when necessary.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The present study aimed to assess clinically and radiographically the usage of autogenous tooth bone graft (ATBG) combined with and without Simvastatin (SMV) around immediately placed dental implants in periodontally compromised sites. METHODS Thirty-nine patients required a single extraction of periodontally compromised tooth were divided into three groups (13 patients each). Group I received immediate implant placement (IIP) without grafting. Group II received IIP with ATBG filling the gap around IIP. Group III received SMV gel mixed with ATBG around IIP. Radiographic changes were reported at the baseline, 6-, and 12-months post-surgery. RESULTS All implants achieved the success criteria with no complications. At 6- and 12-months post-surgery, group III showed a statistically lower mean ridge width loss compared to Group I and Group II (P < .001). Group II revealed less reduction in the mean alveolar ridge width compared to group I (P < .001). Group III showed a statistically significantly less MBL loss than group I and group II (P < .001). All groups showed a statistically significant increase in BD gain compared to baseline (P < .001). Group III showed statistically significant high BD compared to group II (P < .001). Group II showed statistically significantly higher mean BD gain than that of group I (P < .001). CONCLUSION SMV combined with ATBG boosts the hard tissue parameters around dental implants over ATBG alone. Clinical trial registration was on August 1, 2021 (NCT04992416). CLINICAL RELEVANCE ATBG with SMV in periodontally compromised sites could improve implant osseointegration and promote favorable changes in peri-implant tissues.

Abstract
This umbrella review aims to evaluate systematic/meta-analysis studies containing clinical evidence on tooth grafts as bone substitutes in the oral and maxillofacial regions. Using language restrictions and Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, an electronic database search of PubMed, MEDLINE, Embase, Cochrane library, and Google Scholar was conducted, featuring published studies up until August 2022. All systematic/meta-analysis review articles relating to tooth graft materials were matched against the inclusion criteria. Two qualified researchers independently assessed the studies' inclusion or exclusion criteria and risk of bias, and a third investigator assisted in resolving ambiguities. A total of 81 systematic/meta-analysis studies, comprising 21 animal-controlled trials, 23 randomized controlled human trials, 23 prospective studies, and 14 retrospective studies, were selected for this study. A small risk of bias was observed in systematic studies/meta-analyses. In addition, the clinical evidence from the analysis of these studies revealed a low incidence of side effects. According to the current review, two systematic reviews indicated that autogenous bone grafting of prepared teeth might be as effective as other bone grafting materials. Four studies also mentioned autologous grafts as potential alternatives to autologous grafts, autogenous demineralized dentin (ADDM), engineered grafts, root blocks, and dental matrix. On the other hand, three systematic studies stated that more long-term research is needed to confirm their findings. Finally, given the importance of standardization and homogeneity of studies for clinical cases, it is advised to be used cautiously due to the risks of transplant rejection.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The present study goal was to assess clinically and radiographically using simvastatin (SMV) loaded xenograft for guided bone regeneration (GBR) around simultaneously placed implants with alveolar ridge splitting in patients with horizontally atrophic jaw defect. MATERIALS AND METHODS Randomized distribution of the twenty-two patients into two groups (11 patients each) was performed. Group I participants received alveolar ride splitting (ARS) with GBR using SMV gel mixed bone graft and a barrier membrane with simultaneous implant placement. Group II received the same treatment protocol without SMV gel. At the baseline, 6- and 9-months post-surgery, clinical and radiological alterations were assessed. RESULTS Six months after therapy, PES records of group I were statistically significantly improved than those of group II (P < .001). Group I exhibited statistically significant expansion of the alveolar ridge over group II after 6 and 9 months (P < .001). When compared to group II over the evaluation interval between 6 and 9 months, group I demonstrated statistically substantially minimal loss of the mean marginal bone level (P < .001). At the 6- and 9-month observation periods, bone density gain was considerably higher in group I than that in group II (P < .001). CONCLUSION Alveolar ridge splitting along with GBR-augmented SMV improve the clinical and radiographical outcomes around dental implant over GBR alone. CLINICAL RELEVANCE Augmenting GBR with SMV in alveolar ridge splitting could boost implant osseointegration and enhance peri-implant tissue changes. CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRATION NCT05020405.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Autogenous particulate dentin (APD) has been used as a bone graft material for bone augmentation, but the specifics of its effect on alveolar ridge preservation (ARP) are uncertain. The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical and histomorphometric performance of APD compared with blood clot healing or other grafted materials in ARP. METHODS MEDLINE, Embase, Web of Science, Scopus and the Cochrane Library and citation databases were searched until August 2, 2023 to identify randomized controlled trials that employed APD for ARP. Two independent meta-analyses were performed based on the different control groups (Group I: blood clot healing; Group II: other grafted materials). Weighted or mean differences (MDs) and corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated. The protocol was prospectively registered with PROSPERO (CRD42023409339). RESULTS A total of 238 records were identified, of which ten studies with 182 participants were included. The meta-analysis indicated that APD resulted in fewer changes in horizontal ridge width (Group I: MD = 1.61, 95% CI 0.76-2.46; Group II: MD = 1.28, 95% CI 1.08-1.48) and labial bone height (Group I: MD = 1.75, 95% CI 0.56-2.94; Group II: P < .05) than the control treatments. Regarding histomorphometry, APD yielded a satisfactory proportion of vital bone area (MD = 10.51, 95% CI 4.70-16.32) and residual material area (MD = -8.76, 95% CI -12.81 to -4.71) in Group II, while there was no significant difference in Group I. Moreover, none of the secondary outcomes were significantly differed between groups. CONCLUSION Within this study limitations, APD effectively maintained the horizontal and vertical dimensions of the extraction sockets and exhibited favorable osteogenic properties and degradation capacity. Further well-designed randomized controlled trials with larger samples and longer follow-up periods are needed to evaluate whether APD is superior to other substitutes for ARP.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Autogenous tooth block (ATB) has been used as an alternative material for bone regeneration, but its efficacy compared with autogenous bone block (ABB) remains uncertain. The aim of this systematic review was to investigate and compare the clinical and histological performance of ATB and ABB grafts in lateral alveolar ridge augmentation (LARA). METHODS Electronic retrieval of MEDLINE, Embase, Cochrane Library (CENTRAL), Scopus, Web of Science, China national knowledge infrastructure, Wanfang data, SinoMed, and manual searching until July 2023 were used to identify controlled clinical trials employing ATB grafts in LARA. The identified reports included at least one of the following outcome variables: ridge width gain, graft resorption, postoperative complications, histology, and histomorphometry. Weighted or mean differences (MD), relative risk, and corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CI) were calculated. Descriptive analysis was applied to the qualitative statistics. The protocol followed the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses statement and was prospectively registered in PROSPERO (CRD42023399611). RESULTS Four controlled clinical trials with 77 participants each using ATB and ABB grafts were included. Meta-analysis indicated that ATB grafts resulted in greater bone width (MD = 1.31, 95% CI [0.92, 1.71], P < .00001) and less graft resorption (MD = -0.71, 95% CI [-1.22, -0.21], P = .005) than ABB grafts on LARA. There was no statistical difference in postoperative complications between ATB and ABB grafts (relative risk = 0.81, 95% CI [0.32, 2.04], P = .66). Furthermore, the ATB grafts exhibited positive replacement resorption with alveolar bone for favorable signs of new bone activity on histology and histomorphometry. CONCLUSION Within the limitations of this study, ATB grafts could serve as an alternative material for ABB to support LARA. Further research with a longer follow-up period is required to verify these findings.

Abstract
The management of the upper impacted canines includes a range of options, including orthodontic options in their various forms, up to extraction and replacing the tooth with a dental implant. Auto tooth graft (ATG) has achieved good clinical efficacy and was recently used as a grafting material for its bone induction and conduction properties. The use of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is highly effective in regenerative dentistry, and its use with bone grafts has improved tissue healing. This case report shows for the first time managing impacted canine with extraction and converting it into ATG and mixing it with injectable PRF to obtain sticky bone ATG and insertion of an immediate implant in a female patient who complains about a missing upper left canine. The results show the good bone formation and satisfactory clinical aspects.

Abstract
Understanding the quality of the ridge and facial cortical bone in the aesthetic zone is important for treatment with an immediate dental implant. This study aimed to analyze bone density and widths of the facial cortical bone and alveolar ridge at the central incisors in relation to arch form. A total of 400 teeth from 100 cone-beam CT images were divided equally between the upper and lower central incisors. The central incisor area was assessed for the width of the facial cortical and alveolar bones at three different points (3 mm, 6 mm, and 9 mm from the cementoenamel junction). Arch forms and densities of cortical and cancellous bones in the interradicular regions were evaluated. The difference in facial cortical bone thickness at 3 points was smaller for the upper teeth than for the lower teeth on both sides. The alveolar bone width was higher in the maxilla than the mandible with highly significant differences (P < 0.001). The highest bone density was at the buccal aspect of the mandible (897.36 ± 136.72 HU), while the lowest density was at the cancellous bone of the maxilla (600.37 ± 126.63 HU). The dominant arch form was ovoid 71%, followed by square 20% and the tapering arch form 10%. The tapering arch form has the highest alveolar bone width in the upper jaw without statistical significance. The facial cortical bone thickness needs to be evaluated before implantation in the anterior region because it is less than two millimeters in both jaws. CBCT is important for the immediate implant. The ovoid shape was the dominant arch form.

Abstract
In this study, calcium phosphate (CP)/calcium sulfate biphasic bone repair materials were modified with bioactive-glass (BG) to construct a self-curing bone repair material. Tetracalcium phosphate, calcium hydrogen phosphate dihydrate, and calcium sulfate hemihydrate (CSH) with different BG ratios and phosphate solution were reacted to prepare a porous self-curing bone repair material (CP/CSH/BG). The solidification time was about 12 min, and the material was morphologically stable in 24 h. The porosity was about 50%, with a pore size around 200 μm. The strength of CP/CSH/BG was approaching trabecular bone, and could be gradually degraded in Tris-HCl solution. MC3T3-E1 cells were cultured in the leaching solution of the materials. Cytotoxicity was detected using Cell Counting Kit 8 assays, and the expression of osteogenesis-related biomarkers was detected using quantitative real-time reverse transcription PCR (qRT-PCR). The results showed that all BG groups had increased ALP and ARS staining, implying that the BG groups could promote osteoblast mineralization in vitro. qRT-PCR showed significant upregulation of bone-related gene expression (Osx, Ocn, Runx2, and Col1) in the 20% BG group (p < 0.05). Therefore, the CP/CSH/BG self-curing bone repair materials can promote osteogenesis, and might be applied for bone regeneration, especially for polymorphic bone defect repair.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to determine whether the autogenous dentin graft (ADG) shows comparable results and similar clinical performance to other graft materials when utilized for implant placement. Four databases were searched, and controlled human studies that applied autogenous dentin for implant surgery, comparing it with other bone grafts, were included. Nine articles met the inclusion criteria, five of which were randomized controlled trials and were included in the meta-analysis. ADG showed equivalent primary and secondary implant stability when compared to Bio-Oss (primary: mean difference -0.74, 95% confidence interval (CI) - 3.36 to 1.88, P = 0.58; secondary: mean difference - 1.29, 95% CI - 5.69 to 3.11, P = 0.57). The standardized mean difference (SMD) of marginal bone loss at 6 months and at the final follow-up (18 months) showed the two grafts to be similar (6 months: SMD -0.26, 95% CI -0.64 to 0.12, P = 0.18; final follow-up: SMD -0.12, 95% CI -0.50 to 0.26, P = 0.53), and survival after immediate implant placement was the same in the two groups: 97.37% and 97.30%, respectively. Incidences of complications with the autogenous dentin particles or blocks were in line with those of Bio-Oss or autogenous bone blocks, respectively. This meta-analysis indicates that the autogenous dentin graft is an effective option for bone augmentation around dental implants, with acceptable implant stability, marginal bone loss, and incidences of complications and failure.

Abstract
Objective The present research is aimed at determining the efficacy of immediate implantation (II) and delayed implantation (DI) for single-tooth restoration of maxillary anterior teeth. Methods From February 2019 to June 2020, 80 patients who received single-tooth restoration of maxillary anterior teeth in Suzhou Kowloon Hospital, Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine, were included, among which 38 cases with DI restoration were used as the control group (CG), and the remaining 42 cases with II were used as the research group (RG). The complications that occurred were recorded. Besides, subjective satisfaction (Visual Analogue Scale (VAS)), aesthetic effect after anterior teeth trauma restoration (Pink Esthetic Score (PES)), aesthetics of dental hard tissue (White Esthetic Score (WES)), pocket depth assessed by pure titanium periodontal probe, implant stability (Implant Stability Quotient (ISQ)), and oral health-related quality of life (Oral Health Impact Profile- (OHIP-) 14) were evaluated. Attachment height, general look, color, and chewing function were all much higher in RG than in CG, according to the evaluation results. Furthermore, at 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months after surgery, RG had greater PES, WES, ISQ, and OHIP-14 scores, while the periodontal depth was decreased. In both groups of patients, the incidence of complications was similar, with no discernible differences.

Abstract
This systematic review was conducted to evaluate the available literature on the clinical outcomes of the use of autogenous tooth bone graft prepared chairside, and its current applications. A literature search was done to answer the focused questions "In partially edentulous patients, what are the alveolar ridge volumetric changes, histological findings, and implant survival rates in sites augmented with autogenous tooth bone graft prepared chairside?" Twenty articles were included at the end of the database search. Reported alveolar bone dimension changes after ridge preservation ranged between - 0.64 mm and + 2.26 mm for height, and between - 1.21 mm and + 0.41 mm for width. Augmented sites showed a significant increase in their dimensions in all investigations. The implant survival rate was 98.8% for delayed placement and 97.4% for immediate placement. Additional reports were found on the percentage bone formation following the use of this graft at different postoperative time points, which showed a higher bone volume with time. Currently available studies have included small samples, with short follow-up periods, and most have lacked a control group. Within the limitations of this review, the available evidence suggests that the autogenous tooth bone graft prepared chairside is as effective as other bone grafting materials.

Abstract
Background An effective regenerative protocol is key to reestablish and maintain the hard and soft tissue dimensions over time. The choice of the graft material and its properties also could have an impact on the results. To prevent alveolar ridge dimensional changes, since numerous graft materials have been suggested and in the past years, a growing interest in teeth material has been observed as a valuable alternative to synthetic biomaterials. Aim The aim of the study was to explore the histomorphometric outcomes of tooth derivative materials as used as bone substitute material in socket preservation procedure. Methods After alveolar socket preservation (ASP) procedures using autologous demineralized tooth as graft material prepared by means of an innovative device, was evaluated. A total of 101 histological samples, from 96 subjects, were analyzed by evaluating the total amount of bone (BV), residual tooth material (residual graft, TT), and vital bone (VB). The section from each sample was then split in nine subsections, resulting in 909 subsections, to allow statistical comparison between the different areas. Results It was not noticed a statistically significant difference between maxillary and mandibular sites, being the amount of VB in upper jaw sites 37.9 ± 21.9% and 38.0 ± 22.0% in lower jaw sites and the amount of TT was 7.7 ± 12.2% in maxilla and 7.0 ± 11.1% in mandibles. None of the other considered parameters, including defect type and section position, were statistically correlated to the results of the histomorphometric analysis. Conclusions ASP procedure using demineralized autologous tooth‐derived biomaterial may be a predictable procedure to produce new vital bone potentially capable to support dental implant rehabilitation.

Abstract
Background Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) has been shown to be related to early childhood caries (ECC). However, data on the relationship, if any, between IDA-associated factors and ECC remain scant. This study aimed to explore the interplay between IDA-associated factors and ECC.
Methods This study randomly sampled a total of 1598 children in Qingdao city, and analyzed the severity of ECC using decayed-missing-filled teeth index, while the rate of caries was analyzed following the WHO recommendations. The correlation between IDA and ECC was analyzed by both the chi-square test and Mann–Whitney U test. In addition, we designed an electronic questionnaire and employed the disordered multi-classification logistic regression to interrogate the relationship between the IDA-associated factors and ECC. Results Children with IDA had higher rates and severe ECC than those without IDA (p < 0.001). Children who were breastfed until 2 years old had a higher risk of IDA and ECC, compared to those who were not {OR 3.453 (1.681–7.094)}. Compared with children who had no history of IDA at the age of 2 years or below, those with IDA history had a higher risk of IDA and ECC {OR 8.762 (3.648–21.041)}. In addition, children who had a maternal history of IDA at pregnancy were at a higher risk of IDA and ECC compared to those who had no IDA history at pregnancy {OR 4.913 (2.934–8.226)}. Our data showed that children from a family with an annual income lower than 50,000 Renminbi (RMB) had a higher risk of IDA and ECC compared to those with an annual family income higher than 200,000 RMB {OR 3.421 (1.505–7.775)}. On the other hand, compared with children taking iron supplements, children who did not were at a higher risk of ECC and IDA {OR 5.602 (1.858–16.896)}. Conclusion Factors such as low family income, history of IDA in children aged 2 years or younger, IDA history during pregnancy, children breastfed until 2 years old, and those not taking iron supplements were significantly associated with the occurrence of ECC and IDA. Abstract
Objective Autogenous tooth bone graft (ATBG) was suggested as a source for bone grafting materials, especially as they have similar chemical composition to bone. This study goal was to assess the clinical and radiographic consequences of ATBG with or without L-PRF on bone deposition around immediate implants placed in periodontally hopeless sites. Materials and Methods 26 patients, with periodontally diseased teeth, underwent random assignment to receive the surgical protocol either with L-PRF over ATBG around immediately inserted implants (test group) or without it (control group). Clinical examination was observed. Radiographically, bone changes horizontally and vertically to determine marginal bone loss (MBL) and mesiodistal bone changes were made at the base line and 6 and 9 months after implant insertion. Statistical analysis utilizing paired Student's t-test was used for comparing results within the same group, whereas an independent-sample t-test was used for intergroup variable comparison. Results All implants met the criteria of success without any complications at the follow-up period. Nonsignificant differences were detected between horizontal bone alterations in both groups at 6 and 9 months (P > .001). The test group showed statistically significant lower MBL than the control group (P < .001). The mesiodistal bone gain in the test group was significantly higher than that of the control group at the 6-month period (P < .001). The mesiodistal bone loss in the control group was significantly higher than that of the test group at the 9-month period (P < .001). Conclusion The ATBG- L-PRF combination therapy enhances new bone formation and appeared to be a favorable procedure with immediate implant placement, particularly in severe periodontitis cases.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of autogenous dentin grafts with guided bone regeneration (GBR) for horizontal ridge augmentation. Nineteen patients with dentition and bone defects in whom tooth/teeth extraction was indicated were recruited. Autogenous teeth were prepared, fixed on the buccal sides of the defects, and covered with bone powder and resorbable membranes before implantation. The horizontal bone mass at 0 mm (W1), 3 mm (W2), and 6 mm (W3) from the alveolar crest was recorded using cone beam computed tomography, before, immediately after, and 6 months after dentin grafting. All adverse effects were recorded. The implant stability quotient (ISQ) was measured 6 months after implantation. Twenty-eight implants were placed 6 months after dentin grafting. At this time point, the bone mass was 4.72 ± 0.72 mm (W1), 7.35 ± 1.57 mm (W2), and 8.96 ± 2.38 mm (W3), which was significantly different from that before the surgery (P < 0.05). The bone gain was 2.50 ± 0.72 mm (W1), 4.10 ± 1.42 mm (W2), and 4.56 ± 2.09 mm (W3). No soft tissue dehiscence or infection was observed. Overall, 26.3% of the patients experienced severe pain after dentin grafting. The ISQ was 78.31 ± 6.64 at 6 months after implantation. Autogenous tooth roots with GBR might be effective for horizontal ridge augmentation. This technique could be an alternative to augmentation using autogenous bone grafts.

Abstract
The problems of anterior teeth include dental plaque, dental caries, and fracture, which are usually treated with common composite resin clinically. Although good repair effect can be achieved, patients are prone to anterior tooth sensitivity after surgery. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze the cosmetic effect of nanocomposite resin on anterior teeth. Up to 176 patients (176 teeth) undergoing anterior dental cosmetic restoration in our hospital were selected and assigned to the LR group (n = 88) and the NR group (n = 88) according to patients' voluntary choice of prosthetic materials. The LR group was cured with light-cured composite resin, while the NR group was cured with nanocomposite resin. By comparing the related indexes of patients in the two groups, it was discovered that in the NR group, the excellent and good rate and patients' evaluation of the repair effect were higher, while the periodontal attachment, gingival index, dental plaque index, VAS score, and the incidence of tooth sensitivity were lower, all P < 0.05. The results indicated that the nanocomposite resin had significant cosmetic effect on anterior teeth and had application value.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the changes in buccal bone dimensions (CBD) following immediate implant placement in the maxillary esthetic zone and to identify the factors influencing the degree of buccal bone resorption for different placement and restoration protocols. MATERIAL AND METHODS An electronic search was conducted using the EMBASE, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), and MEDLINE (PubMed) databases, combined with a manual and gray literature search, up to January 2021. Selected clinical studies had to report the changes in horizontal buccal bone dimension in maxillary immediate implantation sites (premolar to premolar) at baseline and at follow-up visits within a year of implantation. A meta-analysis was conducted to calculate the mean value of the changes in horizontal and vertical buccal bone dimensions (CHBD and CVBD) around implants. To further investigate the heterogeneity and identify factors associated with buccal bone loss after immediate implant placement, subgroup analysis and univariate meta-regression were performed. RESULTS From a total of 3498 articles, 4 randomized controlled trials and 12 nonrandomized controlled trials were included for analysis. The mean survival rate of 568 implants was 99.6%. The mean CHBD and CVBD values were 0.71 mm (95% confidence interval: [0.56, 0.86]) and 0.58 mm (95% confidence interval: [0.43, 0.72]), respectively. For possible factors that related to bone resorption, including buccal bone thickness, flap design, bone grafting, horizontal defect dimension, and restoration protocol, bone grafting was the only variable that significantly influenced CHBD. CONCLUSIONS This study demonstrated that immediate implant placement in the esthetic zone does not prevent buccal bone from resorption. Due to data heterogeneity and the small sample size of the studies included in the analysis, further well-conducted, randomized controlled trials with homogeneous samples are required to investigate the correlation of CBD with different variables.

Abstract
Autogenous odontogenic materials are a new, highly biocompatible option for jaw restoration. The inorganic component of autogenous teeth acts as a scaffold to maintain the volume and enable donor cell attachment and proliferation; the organic component contains various growth factors that promote bone reconstruction and repair. The composition of dentin is similar to that of bone, which can be a rationale for promoting bone reconstruction. Recent advances have been made in the field of autogenous odontogenic materials, and studies have confirmed their safety and feasibility after successful clinical application. Autogenous odontogenic materials have unique characteristics compared with other bone-repair materials, such as the conventional autogenous, allogeneic, xenogeneic, and alloplastic bone substitutes. To encourage further research into odontogenic bone grafts, we compared the composition, osteogenesis, and development of autogenous odontogenic materials with those of other bone grafts. In conclusion, odontogenic bone grafts should be classified as a novel bone substitute.

Abstract
Alveolar ridge resorption is a natural consequence of teeth extraction, with unpleasant aesthetic and functional consequences that might compromise a future oral rehabilitation. To minimize the biological consequences of alveolar ridge resorption, several surgical procedures have been designed, the so-called alveolar ridge preservation (ARP) techniques. One important characteristic is the concomitant use of biomaterial in ARP. In the past decade, autogenous teeth as a bone graft material in post-extraction sockets have been proposed with very interesting outcomes, yet with different protocols of preparation. Here we summarize the available evidence on autogenous teeth as a biomaterial in ARP, its different protocols and future directions.

Abstract
The management of the alveolar socket is fundamental to create conditions that would allow the positioning of dental implants in the same site, when required. A number of biomaterials were described in scientific literature to be used for alveolar socket preservation immediately after tooth extraction: autogenous grafts, allograft (of various origin), and synthetic products. Among the autogenous biomaterials, some authors proposed the use of autogenous dentin and/or enamel, retrieved from teeth, adequately managed, and purified. The present case report with two-year follow-up shows one case of alveolar socket preservation by using tooth graft material that was subsequently treated with one implant-supported rehabilitation in the same site. The paper presents clinical and histological outcomes and confirms the feasibility of adopting such autogenous biomaterial in standard procedures.
