Abstract
Standard transthoracic echocardiography is considered the non-invasive gold standard for the diagnosis of most cardiac diseases. Defining reproducibility, repeatability, and reliability of this exam is imperative to reduce errors in clinical evaluations. The present study aimed at: (1) evaluating the reproducibility and repeatability of 15 echocardiographic parameters in dogs by analyzing measurements obtained from several operators with different levels of experience and comparing them to the ones obtained from two board-certified operators (gold standards - GSs); (2) assessing whether different formative paths have an influence on the variability of the echocardiographic measurements. Fifty-one operators have been included in this study, along with two diplomates of the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine - Cardiology. Ten dogs were enrolled, 5 Golden Retrievers and 5 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. Echocardiographic examination was performed on each dog by one GS and several operators on the same day. Results show the highest deviation from the GS and a poor inter-operator reproducibility for the M-mode measurements of the interventricular septum and the left ventricular free wall. Differently, M-mode-obtained internal diameters of the left ventricle in systole and diastole, and measurements of the aortic annulus and root show moderate to excellent intra- and inter-operator reliability and a good concordance with the GSs, demonstrating that all the operators correctly assess left ventricular systolic function and dilation, and evaluate the aortic valve. Furthermore, a specialist clinical activity, more than the acquired theoretical knowledge, affects the reliability of the echocardiographic examination by reducing the difference from the GS' measurements.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The intraventricular pressure difference (IVPD) and intraventricular pressure gradients (IVPG), estimated from color M-mode echocardiography (CMME) of the transmitral flow, have been introduced as novel indices for the evaluation of heart functions. Until now, no study demonstrated the feasibility of the CMME approach to measure IVPD and IVPG in any farm animals. The aim of this study was to assess the feasibility and repeatability of CMME-derived IVPD and IVPG variables in goats and explore the effect of sedation on the measured variables. MATERIALS AND METHODS Sixteen male Shiba goats were included in this study and underwent conventional echocardiography. Eight goats were used in the repeatability of IVPD/IVPG variables. Another eight goats were used to evaluate the effect of sedation by xylazine on IVPD/IVPG measurements. CMME between the base and the apex of the left ventricle was carried out. The IVPD and IVPG were analyzed using in-house code software. The IVPD and IVPG were expressed as total, basal, mid-to-apical, mid, and apical segments. Data analysis including the imaging quality score (IQS), repeatability, variability, intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC), as well as the effect size of sedation on the measured variables was calculated. RESULTS IVPD and IVPG variables from CMME were feasible in all goats. Low to moderate variability of IVPD and IVPG variables was observed (CV 95% <25%) except for the apical IVPD and apical IVPG. The IVPD/IVPG measurements were repeatable without a significant effect of animal or time on the obtained measurements. The overall ICC was higher than 0.75 in all variables except for the apical segment. Xylazine administration reduced the total, basal, and mid parts of IVPD and IVPG with a large effect size (biserial ranked correlation; rc > 0.8). CONCLUSION We reported, for the first time, IVPD and IVPG measurements by CMME in goats. The assessment of IVPD and IVPG by CMME is feasible in goats which can be evaluated in further cardiovascular or pharmacological studies in this species.

Abstract
Copper deficiency (CuD) is a common mineral disorder in ruminants, which causes histomorphological changes in the heart due to disturbances in copper-dependent metalloenzymes. However, alterations in the measurable cardiac parameters during CuD have not been studied in ruminants, especially in goats. Therefore, the current study aimed to investigate longitudinally the potential role of electrocardiography (ECG) and echocardiography to detect the CuD-induced cardiac damage at different time intervals and concomitantly highlighting the impact of CuD on specific hemato-biochemical parameters and histological cardiac disruption in goats. Eight Shiba goats were included and divided into two equal groups; copper adequate (CuA) as a control and copper-deficient (CuD) that supplemented with copper-chelating agents (sulfur 3 g/kg DM and molybdenum 40 mg/kg DM). The hemato-biochemical analysis, ECG assessment at the base apex lead, and right-side echocardiography were performed just before the experimental onset (T0), and later on at two-time intervals after existing of CuD, at the fifth (T5) and seventh (T7) months. Necropsy and histopathological examination of the heart were performed at the end of the experiment. In the CuD group, the heart dimensions at T5 and T7 showed significant increase in QRS duration, ST-segment duration, the left atrial area in systole, left ventricular diameter and volume in diastole, stroke volume, and cardiac output compared with CuA (P < 0.05). Also, myocardial degeneration, necrosis, and fibrosis were evidenced with a concurrent increase of plasma creatine kinase, lactate dehydrogenase, aspartate aminotransferase, and cardiac troponin I (P < 0.05). In conclusion, CuD disturbs hemato-biochemical parameters and results in myocardial damage and cardiac dilatation that increases some ECG and echocardiographic parameters without development of systolic dysfunction. The ECG and echocardiography can potentially detect cardiac changes in long-lasting CuD in goats.

Abstract
Compared to human cases, potential applications of Doppler imaging technology in farm animals' practice are still limited and are mostly concerned with females. Testicular blood perfusion (TBP) is the pathway through which all nutrients, oxygen, and regulatory agents pass through to the testis. TBP is crucial to the testis function because of the high metabolic rate and very low concentration of oxygen in the seminiferous tubules, which constitute about 70%-80% of the testicular mass. Color Doppler ultrasonography is one of the recent non-invasive technologies, which plays a vital role in the assessment of blood flow to the testis in various animal species. In the past 20 years, a significant number of studies have highlighted the importance of assessments of TBP using color Doppler ultrasonography to illustrate its potential uses for breeding soundness examination, diagnosis, and monitoring of infertility problems in farm animals. This review was aimed at providing, for the first time, updated knowledge on the potential clinical uses of color Doppler ultrasonography for the assessment of TBP in domestic animals. Additionally, a few essential details on the relationship between TBP and male fertility are discussed in this review. Furthermore, a number of caveats relating to the use of color Doppler ultrasonography are discussed, which collectively appear to constrain its routine, on-farm application for breeding soundness assessments, at least at the present. The new perspectives related to animal reproduction that researchers claim to do in further investigations are also discussed.
