Theoretical study of Fourier-transform acousto-optic imaging

We propose a full theoretical study of Fourier-transform acousto-optic imaging, which we recently introduced and experimentally assessed in [Opt. Lett.40, 705-708 (2015)OPLEDP0146-959210.1364/OL.40.000705] as an alternative to achieve axial resolution in acousto-optic imaging with a higher signal-to-noise ratio.

Frequency-modulated light scattering interferometry employed for optical properties and dynamics studies of turbid media

In the present work, fiber-based frequency-modulated light scattering interferometry (FMLSI) is developed and employed for studies of optical properties and dynamics in liquid phantoms made from Intralipid(®). The fiber-based FMLSI system retrieves the optical properties by examining the intensity fluctuations through the turbid medium in a heterodyne detection scheme using a continuous-wave frequency-modulated coherent light source. A time resolution of 21 ps is obtained, and the experimental results for the diluted Intralipid phantoms show good agreement with the predicted results based on published data. The present system shows great potential for assessment of optical properties as well as dynamic studies in liquid phantoms, dairy products, and human tissues.

Time-resolved diffusing wave spectroscopy with a CCD camera

We show how time-resolved measurements of the diffuse light transmitted through a thick scattering slab can be performed with a standard CCD camera, thanks to an interferometric protocol. Time-resolved correlations measured at a fixed photon transit time are also presented. The high number of pixels of the camera allows us to attain a quite good sensitivity for a reasonably low acquisition time.

Ultimate spatial resolution with Diffuse Optical Tomography

We evaluate the ultimate transverse spatial resolution that can be expected in Diffuse Optical Tomography, in the configuration of projection imaging. We show how such a performance can be approached using time-resolved measurements and reasonable assumptions, in the context of a linearized diffusion model.
