Abstract
INTRODUCTION E-cigarette and heated tobacco product (HTP) marketing often leverages digital media and points-of-sale (POS) and advertises risk reduction, including in Armenia and Georgia where male cigarette use rates are high. METHODS Using 2022 survey data from Armenian and Georgian adults (n=1468, mean age=42.92 years, 51.4% female; and past-month use of e-cigarettes 3.2%, HTPs 2.7%, and cigarettes 31.6%), multivariable linear regression examined 4 outcomes - e-cigarette and HTP use intentions and perceived risk (1=not at all, to 7=extremely) - in relation to past-month e-cigarette or HTP advertisement exposure via digital media, traditional media, and POS, controlling for covariates (country, age, gender, education level, relationship status, children, past-month cigarette and e-cigarette/HTP use). RESULTS E-cigarette and HTP use intentions were low (mean score=1.47, SD=1.39 each), while perceived risk was high (mean score=5.83, SD=1.6, and mean score=5.87, SD=1.56, respectively). Past-month exposure to e-cigarette and HTP advertisements, respectively, were 12.9% and 11.2% via digital media, 6.1% and 4.8% traditional media, and 22.5% and 21.1% POS. For e-cigarettes, ad exposure via digital media was associated with greater use intentions (β=0.24; 95% CI: 0.03-0.44), ad exposure via traditional media (β= -0.32; 95% CI: -0.55 - -0.09) and POS (β= -0.30; 95% CI: -0.60 - -0.004) was associated with lower risk perceptions. For HTPs, ad exposure via digital media (β=0.35; 95% CI: 0.14-0.56) and POS (β=0.21; 95% CI: 0.04-3.63) was associated with greater use intentions, and ad exposure at POS was associated with lower risk perceptions (β= -0.23; 95% CI: -0.42 - -0.03). CONCLUSIONS Tobacco control efforts should monitor and regulate e-cigarette and HTP marketing, particularly via digital media which may effectively promote use, and via POS which may target and influence risk perceptions.

Abstract
An increasing number of countries have set tobacco endgame goals that target dramatic reductions in smoking prevalence. To achieve those targets and promote health equity, policies are needed to reduce the retail supply and visibility of tobacco products. Focusing on retailer reduction strategies and tobacco display bans, this special communication reviews solution-oriented research about the retail environment. It highlights examples of policy implementation and identifies data needs and research gaps for designing and evaluating retail policies to promote population health equitably.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Pictorial warning labels and standardized "plain" packaging are policy interventions to reduce smoking, in part, by making cigarette packs and smoking less appealing. To inform potential policy decisions, this study examined the relative effects of message text framing (gain vs. loss) and cigarette packaging (standardized vs. branded) on appeal in a sample of young adult cigarette smokers. METHODS Cigarette smokers (N = 339) ages 18-30 completed two within-subjects experimental tasks. Tasks assessed the effects of message text framing (gain vs. loss) and packaging (standardized vs. branded) on cigarette packaging appeal. Task 1 was a 2 × 2 discrete choice experiment, where participants chose between each experimental pack and a standard branded cigarette pack without a pictorial warning label. Task 2 was a ranking task where participants ranked all packs on measures of appeal. RESULTS In Task 1, there were no significant differences in measures of appeal between packs displaying gain- vs. loss-framed message text, but all packs with pictorial warning labels significantly decreased appeal relative to standard branded packs without pictorial warning labels. Standardized packs with pictorial warning labels significantly reduced appeal relative to branded packs with pictorial warning labels and standard branded packs without pictorial warning labels. Task 2 pack rankings showed similar effects of pictorial warning labels and standardized packaging on appeal. CONCLUSIONS Pictorial warning labels with gain- and loss-framed text were equally powerful at reducing appeal of cigarette packs in young adult smokers relative to branded packs without pictorial warning labels, especially when combined with standardized packaging.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The identification of susceptible non-smoking adolescents is an essential step in reducing smoking initiation among adolescents. The aim of this study was to examine the prevalence and factors associated with smoking susceptibility among non-smoking school-going adolescents in Malaysia. DESIGN Cross-sectional study. SETTING Primary and secondary schools in Malaysia. PARTICIPANTS 11 246 non-smoking school-going adolescents. OUTCOME MEASURES The prevalence and factors associated with smoking susceptibility among non-smoking school-going adolescents in Malaysia. RESULTS Approximately 14% of non-smokers were susceptible to smoking, and the prevalence of susceptibility was significantly higher among males, ever-smokers and e-cigarette users. The odds of susceptibility to smoking were higher among males, e-cigarette users, those aged 12 years and under and those who had ever smoked or tried cigarettes. Students from schools with educational programmes on the health effects of second-hand smoke (SHS) and who perceived smoking to be harmful were less likely to be susceptible to smoking. CONCLUSION Smoking susceptibility is prevalent among school-going adolescents. A comprehensive approach that enhances or reinforces health education programmes on the adverse health effects of smoking and SHS among school children, that considers multiple factors and that involves all stakeholders is urgently needed to reduce the prevalence of smoking susceptibility among vulnerable subgroups, as identified from the present findings.

Abstract
Objective The 2009 Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act (TCA) created unprecented enabling conditions for establishing national regulatory policy that reduces the burden of public health and societal problems associated with tobacco product use. The Center for Tobacco Products (CTP), created by the FDA to implement the TCA, developed a first-of-its-kind FDA/National Institutes of Health (NIH) collaborative program to fund Tobacco Centers of Regulatory Science (TCORS). Methods To assist the TCORS with addressing research priorites, working groups (WGs) comprised of FDA-CTP liasions and TCORS investigators were formed. Under the direction of the Center for Evaluation and Coordination of Trainin and Research (CECTR), the TCORS WGs seek to develop tangible work products in their respective areas of focus. Results The focus of the behavioral pharmacology WG evolved from publishing a narrow paper on behavioral methods in electronic cigarette research to a collection of papers on advances in behavioral laboratory methods that may inform tobacco regulatory science. Conclusion This Special Issue contains articles that address all of the CTP research priorities and demonstrates how advances in behavioral laboratory methods made by TCORS investigators can inform FDA efforst to regulate tobacco products.
