Abstract
Introduction Poroid neoplasms (PN) are a heterogeneous group of tumors deriving from sweat glands and folliculo-sebaceous units. Their histological classification and clinical features are challenging. Our aim was to report clinicopathological features of poroid neoplasms. Methods It is a retrospective study including all cases of poroid neoplasms registered at our Pathology laboratory of Niamey National Hospital (February 2020-February 2024). Results We registered 13 cases of benign poroid neoplasms: 10 classic poromas (CP) (76.9%), 2 poroid hidradenomas (PH) (15.4%) and 1 dermal duct tumor (DDT) (7.7%). Nine cases (69.2%) had preoperative clinical diagnosis of malignancy. The mean age was 41.1 years (range of 12-70 years) with a slight female predominance. Only 4/13 cases (30.8%) had classical palmoplantar locations. The tumors mean size was 3.7 cm (range of 0.4-8 cm). Clear cells were present in 7 cases (53.8%), apocrine ductal differentiation (mixed or pure) in 6 cases (46.2%), keratin horns in 2 cases (15.4%), squamous eddies in 6 cases (46.2%), melanin pigments in 1 case (7.7%) and sebaceous differentiation in 2 cases (15.4%). Conclusions Unlike what is classically reported, our study shows that apocrine ductal differentiation, younger age and non-palmoplantar locations are common in poroid neoplasms.

Abstract
In dermatopathological daily practice, vertical histopathology sections are classically used to analyze skin biopsies. Conversely, horizontal histopathological sections are currently used for the diagnosis of some types of alopecia. In the last years the morphological findings obtained by horizontal histopathology have been correlated to those obtained by in vivo reflectance confocal microscopy which provides the same “point of view” of the skin. This review paper emphasizes the strong matching and correlation between reflectance confocal microscopy images and horizontal histopathology in cutaneous neoplasms, further demonstrating the strong reliability of this innovative, non-invasive technique in the management of skin tumors.

Abstract
Background Eccrine poroma (EP) is a benign adnexal neoplasm that can be pigmented in 17% of cases. Four histopathological variants of EP exist. Dermoscopically, EP can mimic many other skin neoplasms. Objectives To provide a dermoscopic-histopathological correlation of EP, classifying the clinical and dermoscopic features of EPs on the basis of their histopathological subtype, in an attempt to better characterize these entities. Patients and Methods A single-center retrospective study was conducted. Clinical data were collected; patients were classified on the basis of the 4 histopathological variants of EPs. Dermoscopic images were reviewed. A dermoscopic-histopathological correlation was performed, and the results were compared with literature data. Results Twenty-six lesions were included, both pigmented and nonpigmented. Three of the 4 histopathological variants were identified. Different dermoscopic features were observed for each distinct histopathological subtype of EP. The lesions mimicked different types of other skin neoplasms, in particular: nonpigmented hidroacanthoma simplex resembled nonmelanoma skin cancer; pigmented hidroacanthoma simplex appeared like a seborrheic keratosis or a solar lentigo; EPs sensu stricto presented as pink nodules if nonpigmented and were similar to seborrheic keratosis if pigmented; dermal duct tumors appeared as pigmented nodular lesions. Conclusions Distinct dermoscopic features appeared to be recurrent in each histopathological variant. Dermoscopy can provide important clues for the diagnosis of EP; the final diagnosis is allowed by histopathology. To achieve a correct diagnosis of EP, because of its clinical and dermoscopic variability, surgical excision is recommended.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Poromas are benign cutaneous sweat gland tumours that are challenging to identify. The dermoscopic features of poromas are not well characterized. OBJECTIVE To determine the clinical-dermoscopic features of poromas. METHODS Cross-sectional, observational study of 113 poromas and 106 matched control lesions from 16 contributors and eight countries. Blinded reviewers evaluated the clinical and dermoscopic features present in each clinical and dermoscopic image. RESULTS Poromas were most commonly non-pigmented (85.8%), papules (35.4%) and located on non-acral sites (65.5%). In multivariate analysis, dermoscopic features associated with poroma included white interlacing areas around vessels (OR: 7.9, 95% CI: 1.9-32.5, P = 0.004), yellow structureless areas (OR: 2.5, 95% CI: 1.1-6.0, P = 0.04), milky-red globules (OR: 3.9, 95% CI: 1.4-11.1, P = 0.01) and poorly visualized vessels (OR: 33.3, 95% CI: 1.9-586.5, P = 0.02). The presence of branched vessels with rounded endings was positively associated with poromas but did not reach statistical significance (OR: 2.4, 95% CI: 0.8-6.5, P = 0.10). The presence of any of these five features was associated with a sensitivity and specificity of 62.8% and 82.0%, respectively. CONCLUSION We identified dermoscopic features that are specific to the diagnosis of poroma. Overall, however, the prevalence of these features was low. Significant clinical and dermoscopic variability is a hallmark of these uncommon tumours, which are most prevalent on non-acral sites.

Abstract
Eccrine poroma is a rare benign adnexal tumor of epithelial cells originating from the terminal ductal portion of the sweat glands that is typically located on palms and soles, although other cutaneous sites can be affected [1]. It is usually nonpigmented even if there is a pigmented variant that corresponds to 17% of cases and it is usually underdiagnosed, since it is mistakenly confused with other pigmented tumors [2,3]. Dermoscopy and reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) may assist in the correct diagnosis of this tumor. Herein, we report one case of pigmented eccrine poroma (PEP) that simulated clinically a cutaneous melanoma or a basal cell carcinoma. Dermoscopy and RCM excluded the possibilities of those two diagnoses; the overall confocal findings were suggestive for a benign epithelial tumor. Histology was fundamental to diagnose this lesion as a pigmented eccrine poroma. Even if the diagnosis of eccrine poroma remains histopathological still, as in this case report, noninvasive tools such as dermoscopy and RCM examinations can be of help to rule out the diagnosis of melanoma. Larger studies on this rare pigmented variant of eccrine poroma could shed new light on the identification of specific diagnostic dermoscopic and confocal features.

Abstract
Dermoscopy is an aiding method in the visualization of the epidermis and dermis. It
is usually used to diagnose melanocytic lesions. In recent years, dermoscopy has
increasingly been used to diagnose non-melanocytic lesions. Certain vascular
structures, their patterns of arrangement and additional criteria may demonstrate
lesion-specific characteristics. In this review, vascular structures and their
arrangements are discussed separately in the light of conflicting views and an
overview of recent literature.

Abstract
Although divergent adnexal differentiations are occasionally seen in poroma, poroma with sebaceous differentiation is extremely rare. We present here the second case of dermoscopy on poroma with sebaceous differentiation. A 38-year-old Japanese female presented with a 2-year history of a slow-growing nodule on her left forearm. Dermoscopically, fine hairpin-like vessels, beige lobular structures were seen in the nodule. Many small yellow dots were scattered between beige lobular structures, giving orange-beige in color as a whole. On the basis of histopathologic findings, a diagnosis of poroma with sebaceous differentiation was made. Some sebaceous tumors are known to exhibit yellowish structures on dermoscopy. Tumors with sebaceous differentiation, as well as conventional sebaceous tumors, can show yellow structures on dermoscopy.

Abstract
Following the first descriptions of the dermatoscopic pattern of basal cell carcinoma (BCC) that go back to the very early years of dermatoscopy, the list of dermatoscopic criteria associated with BCC has been several times updated and renewed. Up to date, dermatoscopy has been shown to enhance BCC detection, by facilitating its discrimination from other skin tumors and inflammatory skin diseases. Furthermore, upcoming evidence suggests that the method is also useful for the management of the tumor, since it provides valuable information about the histopathologic subtype, the presence of clinically undetectable pigmentation, the expansion of the tumor beyond clinically visible margins and the response to non-ablative treatments. In the current article, we provide a summary of the traditional and latest knowledge on the value of dermatoscopy for the diagnosis and management of BCC.

Abstract
An eccrine poroma is a solitary tumor arising from the eccrine duct epithelium in the epidermis. The lesions commonly occur on the sole of the foot, the hands, and occasionally on the nose, eyelids, neck, and chest. We report a patient who presented with a slow-growing nodular lesion over her left cheek, prompting a diagnosis of basal cell carcinoma or keratoacanthoma. Biopsy from the nodule revealed a well-defined epidermal tumor with uniform small cuboidal cells with rounded deeply basophilic nuclei, few narrow ductal lumina, and occasional cystic spaces confirming the diagnosis of an eccrine poroma.

Abstract
Poroma is a benign adnexal neoplasm with atn “poroid”/ductal differentiation that mimics benign and malignant skin tumors. Histopathology shows circumscribed proliferation of poroid cells intermingled with a variable number of cuticular cells. We report a case of pigmented poroma located on the face that simulated clinically and dermatoscopically a pigmented basal cell carcinoma. The features of pigmented and non-pigmented poromas were revisited in order to assist in the diagnosis.

Abstract
Background: Eccrine poroma is a benign neoplasm that can mimick a malignant neoplasm dermoscopically. The characteristic vascular pattern of this tumor has not been established. Objective: To evaluate dermoscopic features of non-pigmented eccrine poroma in Mexican patients. Method: We retrospectively studied histologically proven cases of eccrine poroma from three Mexican hospitals analyzed by four dermoscopists. Results: Thirteen cases were studied. A polymorphous vascular pattern was found in most cases. Four presented with irregular linear and branched vessels with semi-elliptical, or semicircular endings (“chalice-form” and “cherry-blossoms” vessels). Structureless pink-white areas were the most common other dermoscopic finding. Conclusions: “Chalice-form” and “cherry-blossom” vessels have not been reported in other benign or malignant neoplasms and can be a useful clue to the diagnosis of non-pigmented eccrine poroma. Due to the variability of dermoscopic patterns of eccrine poroma further studies are required to establish the specificity of our findings.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Eccrine poromas are relatively common slow-growing benign solitary adnexal tumors originating from the intraepidermal portion of the eccrine sweat duct (acrosyringium). Dystrophic calcification is rarely found in lesions of eccrine poroma, and only 2 cases of eccrine poroma with calcification have been reported thus far. In the present report, we describe another case of eccrine poroma with calcification occurring in the palm of the hand. Also, we show dermoscopic features of this case. MAIN OBSERVATIONS A 73-year-old man with hemiparesis, who had a 10-year history of tumor on his right palm, which was occasionally injured by a walking crutch, causing bleeding and ulceration. Physical examination revealed a pigmented dome-shaped tumor. Dermoscopic analysis revealed glomerular vessels, multiple pink-white structureless areas, and lacunae. Histological examination revealed that the tumor was composed of cords of tumor cells extending from the epidermis into the dermis. These were uniformly cuboidal cells with round, basophilic nuclei and dense vascular stromas with telangiectasia. The tumor showed cystic structures and calcification. The patient was diagnosed with Pinkus-type eccrine poroma on the basis of histological findings. CONCLUSIONS Although cutaneous neoplasms commonly associated with calcification are of follicular origin, it is known that dystrophic calcification may be triggered also in tumors of eccrine origin by multiple factors, including mechanical injury. Dermoscopy may be helpful in establishing clinical diagnosis of calcified eccrine poromas.

Abstract
Eccrine porocarcinoma is a rare cutaneous neoplasm that mainly affects elderly people and grows slowly over a long period of time but often experiences an accelerated growth phase. Eccrine porocarcinoma may arise de novo or evolve from a pre-existing benign eccrine poroma. We reported a 86-year-old Japanese woman presenting with two reddish-colored pendulated lesions on a keratotic light brown plaque on the right thigh. Dermoscopic examination of the light-brown plaque demonstrated many whitish globular structures in a light-brown background. At the two reddish-colored pendulated lesions, polymorphous and prominent vessel proliferation was observed together with irregularly shaped whitish negative network. Immunohistochemical study demonstrated a positive CEA staining at ductal structures and atypical clear cells of reddish nodules. A diagnosis of eccrine porocarcinoma arising in a pigmented hidroacanthoma simplex was eventually established, and the dermoscopic features of eccrine porocarcinoma from hidroacanthoma simplex was described for the first time.
