Abstract
BACKGROUND Infraorbital aging develops during the natural aging process. Various treatment options offer unique benefits, accompanied by diverse side effect profiles, and can be synergistically combined to optimize results. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of a comprehensive approach involving non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid injection and smooth absorbable PPDO (poly p-dioxanone) thread insertion for infraorbital rejuvenation. METHODS This retrospective case series study enrolled ten female patients with infraorbital aging from March 2022 to April 2023. Clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, and adverse events were assessed at 1, 3, and 6 months posttreatment. RESULTS The median Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale scores evaluated by the operator and blinded evaluator were 1.70 ± 0.42 and 1.80 ± 0.35, respectively, at six months posttreatment. The median Allergan Infraorbital Hollows Scale determined by the operator was 1.15 ± 0.34 at six months posttreatment, whereas the scores evaluated by the blinded evaluator were 1.15 ± 0.53. At six months after treatment, 50% of patients were satisfied, and an additional 40% reported strong satisfaction with the clinical improvement following treatment. No serious adverse events, such as infections, lumps, irregularities, Tyndall effect, hematoma, or skin necrosis, occurred during the treatment period. CONCLUSIONS The combination of PPDO thread insertion and non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid injection yielded satisfactory and effective clinical outcomes with no occurrence of serious adverse events for infraorbital rejuvenation. We anticipate that this study will contribute to the advancement of novel treatment options for infraorbital aging. Abstract
OBJECTIVE To report two cases of dermal filler hypersensitivity post-COVID-19 illness and review the literature. METHODS A literature review was performed. Data were extracted from the articles: the author, year of publication, age and sex of the patient, filler substance, injection site, symptoms and signs, onset time, diagnostic results, treatment, and prognosis. RESULTS Six cases from six literatures were included in the review. All of them were female and were confirmed infected with COVID-19. Five of them received hyaluronic acid injection and one patient received polyacrylamide. Time after injection ranged from 8 months to 9 years. Onset of symptoms ranged from two to four weeks post-infection. The clinical manifestations included swelling, edema, induration, erythema, and tenderness. The site where the symptoms appeared was the injection site, and symptoms appeared at each injection site at the same time, including cheeks, periocular area, and lips. CONCLUSION Dermal filler hypersensitivity may occur post-COVID-19 illness. A detailed history and clinical examination can help confirm the diagnosis. Abstract
BACKGROUND Hyaluronic acid (HA) gel injections were first used to treat the tear trough in 2005 and since then it has been a mainstay of the approach to lower eyelid deformities. OBJECTIVE The authors present this retrospective multicentric observational study based on single-blind objective and subjective evaluation and patient satisfaction in relation to the aesthetic improvement of a large group of patients treated. METHODS AND MATERIALS Between January 2016 and December 2019, 600 patients (468 women and 132 men), were enrolled in this study, and 1200 tear trough deformities were treated with both needle and cannula techniques. RESULTS Average follow-up time was 12 ± 1 months, and the outcomes were assessed both objectively and subjectively with respect to Hirmand's classification. Statistical analysis shows an inverse correlation between age and class amelioration. CONCLUSION HA injection of the tear trough is most effective in patients between 30 and 40 years of age, while its benefits extend to up to 50 years old; afterward, it should no longer be the treatment of choice. This confirms that correction of tear trough with hyaluronic acid injections may provide an option to achieve immediate and durable results for up to one year after the injection. Abstract
BACKGROUND With the global rise in the use of hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers as a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure, significant adverse effects such as vascular compromise and blindness have become common. Hence, we present the first systematic review aimed to investigate ocular complications secondary to a facial HA injection and to understand the presentation, cause, management, and outcome of these complications. METHODS The preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) guidelines were used to report this review. A systematic search was performed in July 2021 for published literature using the PubMed, MEDLINE, and Cochrane databases. The following terms were used: facial fillers, facial injections, hyaluronic acid, blindness, ophthalmoplegia, diplopia, ptosis, ophthalmic artery occlusion, posterior ciliary artery occlusion, and ocular ischemic syndrome. RESULTS A total of 2496 publications were searched, and 34 articles published between January 2000 and July 2021 were included. Twenty-seven case reports and seven case series were evaluated. The nose was the most common site of injection (n = 25; 40.67%). Ocular pain was the most common initial symptom of ocular complications (n = 13, 22.41 %). The most common complication was vision loss (n = 17, 50%). The majority of patients received hyaluronidase, aspirin, and steroids. Regarding the outcome, 15 (45.45%) of the published studies showed no improvement in complications even after management. CONCLUSION HA is gaining popularity in cosmetic applications. Post-HA ocular complications nearly always have an immediate onset. Proper knowledge of potential adverse events is crucial for clinicians to attempt to decrease complications and improve outcomes. Abstract
There is significant variation in treatment parameters when treating the infraorbital region. Thorough knowledge of these pertinent factors, choice of the optimal filling material, and proper understanding of the anatomy of this unforgiving region will contribute to a safe, effective, and natural result. We aim to conduct a systematic review of published literature related to soft tissue fillers of the tear trough and infraorbital region. A search of published literature was conducted in accordance with PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines and included PubMed, Embase, and Science Direct databases. The Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) terms used were "tear trough" OR "infraorbital" AND "dermal filler" OR "hyaluronic acid" OR "poly-L-lactic acid" OR "calcium hydroxyapatite" OR "Restylane" OR "Radiesse" OR "Perlane" OR "Juvéderm" OR "Belotero." Different combinations of these key terms were used. The initial search identified 526 articles. Six additional articles were identified through references. Two-hundred twenty-five duplicates were removed. A total of 307 studies were screened by title and abstract and 258 studies were eliminated based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Forty-nine articles underwent full-text review. The final analysis included 23 articles. Patient satisfaction was high, and duration of effect ranged from 8 to 12 months. Restylane was most commonly used. Injection technique varied, but generally involved placing filler pre-periosteally, deep to orbicularis oculi muscle, anterior to the inferior orbital rim via serial puncture or retrograde linear threading with a 30-gauge needle. Topical anesthetic was most commonly used. Side effects were generally mild and included bruising, edema, blue-gray dyschromia, and contour irregularities. Nonsurgical correction of the tear trough deformity with soft tissue filler is a minimally invasive procedure with excellent patient satisfaction with long-lasting effects. It is essential to have a fundamental understanding of the relevant anatomy and ideal injection technique to provide excellent patient outcomes and prevent serious complications.

Abstract
The periocular area is the first to display signs of ageing. Dermal fillers are an increasingly popular, minimally invasive method for facial rejuvenation. The eye is anatomically delicate and complex. Therefore, special consideration must be taken if dermal fillers are employed. This article examines the literature to assess the efficacy and safety of dermal fillers around the eye as well as the management of complications secondary to dermal filler use, such as oedema, granuloma formation, filler migration, xanthelasma, skin necrosis and visual loss. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is the most popular and commonly employed dermal filler for periocular use. It is effective, with good observer improvement and patient satisfaction (p<0.0001). Ninety percent of adverse events are mild in nature and self-resolve within 1 month. Malar oedema is a delayed complication unique to the periocular area, occurring in 11% of patients. This can be managed with use of hyaluronidase if a HA filler has been employed. Other complications, such as granuloma formation, filler migration and xanthelasma, have also been reported with variable management outcomes. Vascular adverse events include skin necrosis and visual loss. No Level 1 evidence exists for the management of visual loss. Two cases of visual restoration have been identified in the literature; however, this is rare.

Abstract
PURPOSE The objective of this study was to provide an update of the current literature in ophthalmic and facial plastic surgery, specifically related to disorders of the eyelid. DESIGN This was a review of published literature from January 2012 to June 2013 METHODS: The authors conducted a PubMed literature search of English-language articles published between January 2012 and June 2013 using the following search terms: eyelid, congenital, acquired, infection, inflammation, trauma, tumor, ptosis, entropion, ectropion, lagophthalmos, botulinum toxin, fillers, blepharoplasty, and miscellaneous topics related to the disorders of the eyelid. The authors included original articles, review articles, and case reports with relevant new information that is of potential clinical use to a comprehensive ophthalmologist as well as to the subspecialist. RESULTS Current literature on the disorders of the eyelid is replete with useful clinical information of relevance to a practicing ophthalmologist. Major advances have been reported in understanding of the surgical anatomy and its applications, ptosis, entropion, ectropion, lagophthalmos, infection, inflammation, trauma, and tumors. CONCLUSIONS There seems to be tremendous excitement in revisiting the anatomy and pathology and modifying the management protocols and surgical procedures to achieve optimal results, as the subspecialty continues to advance at a brisk pace.
