Abstract
BACKGROUND Children with high autistic traits often exhibit deficits in drawing, an important skill for social adaptability. Machine learning is a powerful technique for learning predictive models from movement data, so drawing processes and product characteristics can be objectively evaluated. This study aimed to assess the potential of evaluating shape drawing using machine learning to predict high autistic traits. METHOD Seventy boys (5.03 ± 0.16) and 63 girls (5.06 ± 0.18) from the general population participated in the study. Participants were asked to draw shapes in the following order: equilateral triangle, inverted equilateral triangle, square, and the sun. A model for classifying participants as likely to have high autistic traits was developed using a support vector machine algorithm with a linear kernel utilizing 16 variables. A 16-inch liquid crystal display pen tablet was used to acquire data on hand-finger fine motor activity while the participants drew each shape. The X and Y coordinates of the pen tip, pen pressure, pen orientation, pen tilt, and eye movements were recorded to determine whether the participants had any problems with this skill. Eye movements were assessed using a webcam. These data and eye movements were used to identify the variables for the support vector machine model. DATA AND RESULTS For each shape, a model support vector machine was created to classify the high and low autistic trait groups, with accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity all above 85%. The specificity values across all models were 100%. In the inverted equilateral triangle model, specificity, accuracy, and sensitivity values were 100%. CONCLUSIONS These results demonstrate the potential of assessing shape characteristics using machine learning to predict high levels of autistic traits. Future studies with a wider variety of shapes are warranted to establish further the potential efficacy of drawing skills for screening for autism spectrum conditions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE The theory of complexity loss in neurodivergent brain is widely acknowledged. However, the findings of autism research do not seem to align well with this theory. We aim to investigate the brain complexity in children with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorders) compared with the TD (Typical Developed) children in sleeping state. METHOD 42 ASD children and 42 TD children were imaged using sleep-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (ss-fMRI), and brain complexity was analyzed by employing sample entropy (SampEn) and transfer entropy (TE). For the ASD group, we also investigated the relationship of symptom severity with SampEn and with TE. RESULTS In compared with TD group, ASD group showed significant increased SampEn in the right inferior frontal gyrus. However, in the group of TD, 13 pairs of brain regions exhibit higher TE compared to the ASD group. In the ASD group, the TE of 5 pairs of brain regions is higher than in the TD group. CONCLUSION This sleeping-state fMRI study provide evidence that ASD children exhibited aberrant brain complexity in compare with the TD children. The complexity of the autistic brain is composed of aberrant randomness in brain activity and anomalous information transmission between brain regions. We believe that brain complexity in ASD is a highly valuable area of research. Differences in the entropy of local brain regions, as well as in the transfer entropy between brain regions, may be related to the brain complexity observed in children with ASD.

Abstract
Introduction This study investigated the associations between fine motor skills and expressive verbal abilities in a group of 97 autistic participants (age 8-17, mean=12.41) and 46 typically developing youth (age 8-17, mean=12.48). Methods Participants completed assessments of motor and verbal communication skills, including finger tapping speed, grooved pegboard, grip strength, visual-motor integration tasks, and measures of speech and communication skills. ASD group performance on motor tests was compared to controls. Non-parametric tests were used to analyze group differences and correlations between motor and verbal communication skills. Based on prior research, we hypothesized that individuals on the autism spectrum would exhibit deficits in fine motor speed, dexterity, pencil motor control, but not manual motor strength. Additionally, we expected that impaired fine motor skills would be linked to poorer performance on standardized measures of verbal abilities. Results The results indicated that 80% of autistic participants demonstrated an impairment on at least one measure of motor skills, and as a group, they exhibited significantly poorer fine motor performance compared to the non-ASD group in dominant hand finger tapping speed, bilateral fine motor dexterity measured via the grooved pegboard task, and pencil motor coordination and visual-motor integration measured on the Beery-Buktenica Developmental Test of Visual-Motor Integration-Sixth Edition. Moreover, impaired fine motor skills were associated with poorer performance on standardized clinical measures of verbal abilities, including articulation errors, receptive and expressive language and vocabulary, rapid naming, oromotor sequencing, and parent reported functional communication skills and social communication symptoms. Discussion Overall,our findings suggest there is a high prevalence of fine motor impairments in ASD, and these impairments were associated with a range of verbal abilities. Further research is warranted to better understand the underlying mechanisms of these associations and develop targeted interventions to address both fine motor and verbal impairments in ASD.

Abstract
Background The correlation of clinical characteristics of cerebral palsy (CP) and the magnetic resonance imaging classification system (MRICS) for (CP) is inconsistent. Specifically, the variance in rehabilitation potential across MRICS remains underexplored. Aims To investigate the clinical characteristics and potential for rehabilitation in children with CP based on MRICS. Materials and methods Children with CP admitted to the Department of Rehabilitation, Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University between 2017 and 2021 were included in the study. Qualified cases underwent a follow-up period of at least one year. The clinical characteristics of CP among different MRICS were analyzed, then the rehabilitation potential was explored by a retrospective cohort study. Results Among the 384 initially enrolled children, the male-to-female ratio was 2.3:1, and the median age of diagnosis was 6.5 months (interquartile range: 4-12). The most prevalent MRICS categorization was predominant white matter injury (40.6%), followed by miscellaneous (29.2%) and predominant gray matter injury (15.6%). For the predominant white matter injury and miscellaneous categories, spastic diplegia emerged as the leading subtype of CP, with incidences of 59.6% and 36.6%, respectively, while mixed CP (36.7%) was the most common type in children with predominant gray matter. Notably, 76.4% of children with predominant white matter injury were classified as levels I-III on the gross motor function classification system (GMFCS), indicating significantly less severity than other groups (χ2 = 12.438, p = 0.013). No significant difference across MRICS categories was observed for the manual ability classification system (MACS) (H = 8.176, p = 0.085). Rehabilitation potential regarding fine motor function and adaptability based on Gesell assessment was dependent on MRICS over the follow-up period. Children with normal MRI scans exhibited superior rehabilitation outcomes. Commencing rehabilitation at an earlier stage produced consistent and beneficial results in terms of fine motor function and adaptability across all MRICS categories. Moreover, participants below 2 years of age demonstrated enhanced rehabilitation potential regarding fine motor outcomes and adaptability within the MRICS framework. Conclusion MRICS displayed a significant association with clinical characteristics and rehabilitation efficacy in children with CP.

Abstract
The Therasuit method is a valuable physiotherapeutic method to improve the gross motor function of children with neuromotor disorders. This series of case studies investigates the effect of the Therasuit method on the gross motor function of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Therasuit method is a therapeutic intervention that involves the use of a therapeutic suit attached to a cage to stimulate gross motor skills, muscle strengthening, stretching, task training, and balance, which is a positive intervention for other neurodevelopmental disorders. The study was conducted with nine male children (42.1 + 4.1 months old) with ASD who received the Therasuit protocol for 4 weeks (20 sessions). The Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM-88) was used to assess the children's gross motor function before and after the Therasuit method intervention. In dimension B, several skills showed improvement, including transfer to sitting, lean forward and return, trunk rotation without support, and transfer from sitting to all four stances. In dimension C, an increase was observed in skills such as being prone to all four stance transfers and reaching above the shoulders. In dimension D, maximum scores were achieved in skills such as pulling to stand on a large bench without assistance. The dimensions with the greatest impairment were D and E, corresponding to gross motor skills in orthostasis and dynamic skills in orthostasis, respectively. The findings suggest that the Therasuit method is a promising resource for treating motor impairments in children with ASD. However, further studies with a larger sample size, an adequate control condition, and random assignment of participants would be needed to provide stronger evidence of the method's effectiveness in this population.
