Abstract
Yam is a versatile economic crop that serves both medicinal and dietary purposes. Dehua County, located in Fujian Province, China, is renowned as one of the major yam production areas, with a cultivation history spanning over 600 years. It has successfully cultivated Qingfeng yam and Ziyu yam, both of which have been recognized with China's "Geographical Indications for Agricultural Products." However, no comprehensive studies have been conducted to evaluate their quality. This study meticulously utilized the authentic medicinal material "Iron yam" as a benchmark, employing advanced techniques such as high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), ultraviolet spectrophotometry, and flame atomic absorption spectrometry to systematically analyze the nutritional and hypoglycemic active components of three distinct yam varieties. In order to interpret the data, descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, principal component analysis (PCA), partial least squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA), cluster analysis and multiple linear regression analysis were systematically applied. The results revealed significant variations in the concentrations of various indicators across the three yam types. Correlation analysis identified 65 pairs of indicators with exceptionally strong correlations and 39 pairs with statistically significant associations. Additionally, the principal component analysis demonstrated that Iron yam exhibited the most favorable overall quality. Notably, Ziyu yam, characterized by its high concentration of hypoglycemic active compounds, emerged as a promising raw material for the production of hypoglycemic products, showcasing significant potential in this field.

Abstract
Chrysin, a naturally occurring flavonoid, exhibits a broad spectrum of biological activities, including showing anticancer properties. However, its clinical application is limited by poor bioavailability and low solubility. The introduction of an amine, amide, ester, or alkoxy group to a flavone skeleton influences the biological activity. This review also discusses hybrid compounds, such as the chrysin-porphyrin hybrid, which are characterized by higher biological activity and better bioavailability properties than single molecules. This review concentrates on the anticancer activity of chrysin and its derivatives against the most popular cancers, such as breast, lung, prostate, and gastrointestinal tumors.

Abstract
Background: Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) is a key regulator of blood pressure, and ACE inhibition is an essential part of the treatment of hypertension. We used a molecular docking approach to find the interaction of ACE with an active flavonoid isolated from Boerhavia diffusa Linn, eupalitin 3-O-β-D-galactopyranoside, which leads to potential antihypertensive effects in methyl predenisolone-induced hypertensive rats. Additionally, the pharmacokinetic parameters of this compound are assessed. Methods:eupalitin-3-O-β-D-galactopyranoside was isolated from leaves of Boerhavia diffusa by sedimentation method. The compound was characterized by UPLC-MSMS, NMR, and UV spectroscopy to confirm the identity of the compound. Hypertension was induced in rats with methyl predenisolone (5 mg/kg/day) for 14 days. Systolic and diastolic blood pressure effects of eupalitin 3-O-β-D-galactopyranoside were assessed using a tail-cuff method. The blood plasma data for oral administration were used to determine various pharmacokinetic parameters from the bioavailability and serum concentration. Results: In methyl predenisolone-induced hypertensive rats, both systolic and diastolic blood pressures were significantly lower than that of the vehicle with treatment from eupalitin 3-O-β-D-galactopyranoside (p < 0.01). Conclusions: The pharmacokinetic process showed the moderate bioavailability of the compound; eupalitin 3-O-β-D-galactopyranoside induces powerful antihypertensive activity in methyl predenisolone-induced hypertensive rats, implying potential clinical application as a new therapeutic drug for hypertension.

Abstract
Flavonoids are found in the roots, stems, leaves, and fruits of many plant taxa. They are related to plant growth and development, pigment formation, and protection against environmental stress. Flavonoids function as antioxidants and exert anti-inflammatory effects in the cardiovascular system by modulating classical inflammatory response pathways, such as the TLR4-NF-ĸB, PI3K-AKT, and Nrf2/HO-1 signalling pathways. There is increasing evidence for the therapeutic effects of flavonoids on hypertension, atherosclerosis, and other diseases. The potential clinical value of flavonoids for diseases of the cardiovascular system has been widely explored. For example, studies have evaluated the roles of flavonoids in the regulation of blood pressure via endothelium-dependent and non-endothelium-dependent pathways and in the regulation of myocardial systolic and diastolic functions by influencing calcium homeostasis and smooth muscle-related protein expression. Flavonoids also have hypoglycaemic, hypolipidemic, anti-platelet, autophagy, and antibacterial effects. In this paper, the role and mechanism of flavonoids in cardiovascular diseases were reviewed in order to provide reference for the clinical application of flavonoids in the future.

Abstract
Background Hypertension is one of the major risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Dietary flavonoids have been reported to reduce inflammation, protect against oxidative stress, protect the vascular endothelium, and improve vascular health. However, the relationship between dietary flavonoid intake and the prevalence of hypertension remains controversial. Methods This study included 8010 adults from the 2007-2010 and 2017-2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys (NHANES). The relationship between dietary flavonoid intake and the prevalence of hypertension was explored by weighted logistic regression and weighted restricted cubic spline. Results We found an inverse relationship between total anthocyanin intake and the prevalence of hypertension in the fourth quartile compared with the first quartile [0.81(0.66,0.99), p = 0.04]. Moreover, the prevalence of hypertension tended to decrease with increasing total anthocyanin intake in participants over 60 years of age. In addition, we found a U-shaped relationship between the prevalence of hypertension and total flavan-3-ol intake. Total flavan-3-ol intake was inversely associated with hypertension prevalence in the third quartile compared with the first quartile [0.79 (0.63,0.99), p = 0.04]. Moreover, there was a significant negative association between the prevalence of hypertension and total flavan-3-ol intake when total flavan-3-ol intake was below 48.26 mg/day. Conclusion Our study found a negative association between the prevalence of hypertension and moderate total anthocyanins intake and total flavan-3-ols intake. Our study provides evidence from a population-based study for a negative association between dietary flavonoid intake and the prevalence of hypertension.

Abstract
Natural compounds, known for diverse pharmacological properties, have attracted attention as potential sources for hypertension treatment. Previous studies have revealed the hypotensive effect and vascular relaxation of prunetin, a natural compound derived from Prunus yedoensis. However, the potential blood pressure-lowering and vasorelaxant effects of sakuranetin, another representative compound found in plants belonging to the genus Prunus, have remained unexplored. We aimed to fill this gap by investigating the hypotensive and vasorelaxant effects of sakuranetin in rats. Results indicated that sakuranetin, particularly in the sakuranetin 20 mg/kg group, led to significant reductions in systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) by -14.53 ± 5.64% and -19.83 ± 6.56% at 4 h after administration. In the sakuranetin 50 mg/kg group, the SBP and DBP decreased by -13.27 ± 6.86% and -16.62 ± 10.01% at 2 h and by -21.61 ± 4.49% and -30.45 ± 5.21% at 4 h after administration. In addition, we identified the vasorelaxant effects of sakuranetin, attributing its mechanisms to the inhibition of calcium influx and the modulation of angiotensin II. Considering its hypotensive and vasorelaxant effects, sakuranetin could potentially serve as an antihypertensive agent. However, further research is required to evaluate the safety and long-term efficacy.
