Abstract
Objectives. The mental health of healthcare professionals, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, is a critical concern. This study investigates the prevalence of burnout and professional fulfillment, depression and the relationship between physical activity and adherence to the Mediterranean diet with depression, burnout and professional fulfillment among healthcare professionals. Methods. Data were collected through a web-based survey of 567 healthcare professionals. Logistic regression analysis with age and sex adjustment was employed to analyze the results. Results. The prevalence of depression was 44%, burnout stood at 66% and professional fulfillment was reported at 28%. Adherence to the Mediterranean diet was linked to a reduced risk of depression (odds ratio [OR] 0.63, 95% confidence interval [CI] [0.41, 0.96], p = 0.033) and physical activity was also associated with a lower risk of depression (OR 0.49, 95% CI [0.32, 0.75], p = 0.001). Furthermore, adherence to the Mediterranean diet was associated with a reduced risk of burnout (OR 0.49, 95% CI [0.25, 0.98], p = 0.045). Conclusion. This study highlights the positive impact of physical activity and the Mediterranean diet as lifestyle factors on depression and burnout. These findings have implications for screening, follow-up and timely interventions to support the mental well-being of healthcare professionals.

Abstract
Introduction Burnout is a pervasive issue in healthcare, and it impacts both the wellbeing of healthcare professionals and the quality of patient care. This study examines factors associated with burnout and working environment among respiratory therapists in Saudi Arabia. Methods A structured questionnaire was used to collect data from respiratory therapists. We collected 315 questionnaires including burnout assessment. Multinomial logistic regression was used to assess the relationship between various variables and the likelihood of experiencing severe burnout and personal achievement problems. Results Marital status was a significant predictor of severe burnout (p = 0.001), with single individuals having 8.2 times higher odds than married individuals. Working longer than 44 h per week was associated with a 19.3-fold increase in the odds of severe personal achievement issues compared to those working 40-44 h per week (p < 0.001). Age, gender, living arrangements, education, employment status, and salary level were not significant predictors of severe burnout or personal achievement issues. Conclusion with discussion The findings highlight that marital status and extended working hours are significantly associated with increased burnout among respiratory therapists in Saudi Arabia. These results underscore the importance of social support networks and work-life balance in mitigating burnout risks within this profession.

Abstract
Introduction Health professionals experience high levels of work-related stress; hence, the study of depression among healthcare workers (HCWs) is essential to improve patient care, prevent burnout, and retain a skilled workforce as well as reduce stigma, enhance workplace productivity, and promote overall well-being. This study aimed to estimate the prevalence of depression and associated factors among HCWs at King Khalid University Hospital, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Methods We conducted a cross-sectional study among HCWs at King Khalid University Hospital. All healthcare workers required to renew their contract annually were given a Patient Health Questionnaire 2 (PHQ2) tool for screening for depression; if their score was three or more, a Patient Health Questionnaire 9 (PHQ9) tool was given along with additional questions including demographic, profession-related factors, and stressor presence in different life dimensions. Results In total, 69 HCWs filled out the screening survey (PHQ9). Most were females (n=57; 82.6%), with 36 (52.2%) aged 35 years or below. Five (7.2%) HCWs reported a family history of mental illness. The prevalence of major depressive disorders among HCWs was 29 (42%). Conclusions Younger HCWs who smoked and had no children were more susceptible to depression. Annual psychological screenings for HCWs could be beneficial for monitoring staff vulnerable to mental health disorders. We need a future multicenter study approach to confirm the prevalence of major depression in our region.

Abstract
Background One of the main characteristics of the mental health condition known as burnout syndrome is an overwhelming feeling of physical and emotional tiredness, particularly with regard to one's work. Midwives are the group most prone to burnout because they work in emergency situations to save two lives at a time, share the stress of laboring women, and put in extra hours without enough payment. Besides this, there is little information on burnout among Ethiopian midwives. Objectives To assess burnout and associated factors among midwives working in public health facilities in West Arsi Zone, Ethiopia. Methods and materials A census method cross-sectional study was conducted among all 467 midwives working in public health facilities found in the West Arsi Zone, Ethiopia, from September 1 and 30, 2023. A pretested, validated face-to-face interviewer-administered structured questionnaire was used to collect data. Then, binary logistic regression was used for analysis. Bi-variable and multivariable logistic regression analyses were employed to identify factors associated with burnout. The level of statistical significance was declared at p < 0.05 with a 95% CI. Results Overall, the prevalence of burnout among midwives was 47.10% (95% CI: 42.55, 51.75%). Marital status not in union 2.03 (95% CI: 1.32-3.13), working more than 40 h per week 2.00 (95% CI: 1.29-3.08), conflict with their metron 2.33 (95% CI: 1.54-3.54), not satisfied with their current job 2.39 (95% CI: 1.56-3.66) and having depression symptoms 1.71 (95% CI: 1.06-2.74) were factors significantly associated with burnout. Conclusion This study found that in the study area, almost half of the midwives experienced burnout. Thus, it is recommended that midwives should develop respectful interactions with both their mentors and colleagues. Secondly, we suggest that zonal health offices set up systems that by shortening working hours and boost job satisfaction by creating conducive working environment, provide opportunities for career advancement and increase employee engagement.

Abstract
Background Burnout Syndrome constitutes a critical concern in healthcare, particularly among practitioners operating in high-stress, critical care settings. Understanding the multifaceted factors contributing to burnout in this context is pivotal for devising effective interventions and promoting the well-being of critical care professionals. Objective To investigate the prevalence, contributing factors, and potential interventions related to Burnout Syndrome among critical care health providers in Saudi Arabia. Methods A cross-sectional research design was employed, gathering data from a sample of critical care health providers, including medical practitioners. A self-administered structured electronic questionnaire was used, incorporating the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) with its three subscales: emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and personal accomplishment. The target population was male and female critical care health providers over 18 years age, most participants lies between 25 years to 34 years. Results Statistical analysis shows significant disparities in response distribution (p<0.05), highlighting the importance of understanding encounters with emotional exhaustion, personal accomplishment, and depersonalization. The Durbin-Watson statistic indicated limited autocorrelation, and collinearity tolerance values suggested nominal intercorrelations among predictors. A significant positive correlation was found between the "Depersonalization Loss of Empathy MBI" factor and the outcome variables, indicating complex relationships between emotional exhaustion, personal accomplishment, and depersonalization. Conclusion The study highlights the multifaceted nature of burnout, revealing intricate relationships between emotional exhaustion, personal accomplishment, and depersonalization. These findings collectively form an important foundation for future guidelines and interventions to enhance the well-being of healthcare professionals.

Abstract
AIM OF THE STUDY First, to provide a synthesis and analysis of available scientific literature regarding the level of work stress and burnout among emergency physicians. Second, to identify the effect of the specific work situation-related factors. METHODS A systematic search was performed in NCBI PubMed and Embase. Comparative primary studies, both systematic review and cross-sectional, quantifying burnout in emergency physicians were included. Only studies published between 2011 and 2022 were retained. Synonym sets were compiled for the search key for 'burnout & stress', 'emergency', 'physician' and 'burnout & posttraumatic stress disorder'. RESULTS Thirty-five papers were retained for further research. Emergency physicians scored significantly higher for all dimensions of burnout compared to other healthcare professions. Significant correlations for burnout were found with work characteristic and organizational factors. Critical incidents and aggression were identified as the most important acute work characteristics and organizational factors impacting emergency physician's mental wellbeing including the development of posttraumatic stress disorder. Moreover, personal factors such as age, personality, and coping strategies also play an important role in the development of burnout as well as work-related trauma. CONCLUSION Available studies show that emergency physicians report higher scores of emotional exhaustion and depersonalization when compared to other healthcare professionals. Work characteristics contribute to this, but work-related traumatic incidents and aggression are important determinants. Personal characteristics such as age, personality type D, previous experiences and coping strategies seem to be determining factors likewise. Emergency physicians showed a high risk for developing burnout and work stress-related problems.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to use latent profile analysis to identify specific profiles of burnout syndrome in combination with work engagement and to identify whether job satisfaction, psychological well-being, and other sociodemographic and work variables affect the probability of presenting a profile of burnout syndrome and low work enthusiasm. A total of 355 healthcare professionals completed the Spanish Burnout Inventory, the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale, the Job Satisfaction Scale, and the Psychological Well-Being Scale for Adults. Latent profile analysis identified four profiles: (1) burnout with high indolence (BwHIn); (2) burnout with low indolence (BwLIn); (3) high engagement, low burnout (HeLb); and (4) in the process of burning out (IPB). Multivariate logistic regression showed that a second job in a government healthcare institution; a shift other than the morning shift; being divorced, separated or widowed; and workload are predictors of burnout profiles with respect to the HeLb profile. These data are useful for designing intervention strategies according to the needs and characteristics of each type of burnout profile.

Abstract
Burnout and depression are global problems affecting healthcare providers, especially those working in stressful departments such as emergency departments (EDs) and critical care units (CCUs). However, pooled data analysis comparing healthcare providers operating in the ED and CCU is yet to be conducted. Therefore, this meta-analysis was systematically conducted to investigate and compare the prevalence of burnout and depression among emergency medicine (EM) and critical care medicine (CCM) professionals. We systematically searched for articles related to our research topic using the database search method and manual search method, which involved reviewing the reference lists of articles from electronic databases for additional studies. After screening the literature from the databases using the eligibility criteria, a quality appraisal using the Newcastle-Ottawa scale was performed on the eligible studies. In addition, a meta-analysis using the Review Manager software was performed to investigate the prevalence rates of burnout and depression. A total of 10 studies with 1,353 EM and 1,250 CCM professionals were included for analysis in the present study. The pooled analysis did not establish any considerable differences between EM and CCM healthcare workers on the prevalence of high emotional exhaustion (EE) (odds ratio (OR) = 1.01; 95% confidence interval (CI) = 0.46-2.19; p = 0.98), high depersonalization (OR = 1.16; 95% CI = 0.61-2.21; p = 0.64), low personal accomplishment (PA) (OR = 0.87; 95% CI = 0.67 - 1.12; p = 0.28), and depression (OR = 1.20; 95% CI = 0.74-1.95; p = 0.45). Moreover, pooled data showed no considerable differences in EE scores (mean difference (MD) = -1.07; 95% CI = -4.24-2.09; p = 0.51) and depersonalization scores (MD = -0.31; 95% CI = -1.35-0.73; p = 0.56). However, EM healthcare workers seemed to have considerably lower PA scores than their CCM counterparts (MD = 0.12; 95% CI = 0.08-0.16; p < 0.00001). No considerable difference was recorded in the prevalence of burnout and depression between EM and CCM healthcare workers. However, our findings suggest that EM professionals have lower PA scores than CCM professionals; therefore, more attention should be paid to the mental health of EM professionals to improve their PA.

Abstract
Background Persistently increased workload and stress occurred in health professionals (HPs) during the past 3 years as the COVID-19 pandemic continued. The current study seeks to explore the prevalence of and correlators of HPs' burnout during different stages of the pandemic. Methods Three repeated online studies were conducted in different stages of the COVID-19 pandemic: wave 1: after the first peak of the pandemic, wave 2: the early period of the zero-COVID policy, and wave 3: the second peak of the pandemic in China. Two dimensions of burnout, emotional exhaustion (EE) and declined personal accomplishment (DPA), were assessed using Human Services Survey for Medical Personnel (MBI-HSMP), a 9-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), and a 7-item Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD-7) to assess mental health conditions. An unconditional logistic regression model was employed to discern the correlators. Results There was an overall prevalence of depression (34.9%), anxiety (22.5%), EE (44.6%), and DPA (36.5%) in the participants; the highest prevalence of EE and DPA was discovered in the first wave (47.4% and 36.5%, respectively), then the second wave (44.9% and 34.0%), and the third wave had the lowest prevalence of 42.3% and 32.2%. Depressive symptoms and anxiety were persistently correlated with a higher prevalence risk of both EE and DPA. Workplace violence led to a higher prevalence risk of EE (wave 1: OR = 1.37, 95% CI: 1.16-1.63), and women (wave 1: OR = 1.19, 95% CI: 1.00-1.42; wave 3: OR =1.20, 95% CI:1.01-1.44) and those living in a central area (wave 2: OR = 1.66, 95% CI: 1.20-2.31) or west area (wave 2: OR = 1.54, 95% CI: 1.26-1.87) also had a higher prevalence risk of EE. In contrast, those over 50 years of age (wave 1: OR = 0.61, 95% CI: 0.39-0.96; wave 3: OR = 0.60, 95% CI: 0.38-0.95) and who provided care to patients with COVID-19 (wave 2: OR = 0.73, 95% CI: 0.57-0.92) had a lower risk of EE. Working in the psychiatry section (wave 1: OR = 1.38, 95% CI: 1.01-1.89) and being minorities (wave 2: OR = 1.28, 95% CI: 1.04-1.58) had a higher risk of DPA, while those over 50 years of age had a lower risk of DPA (wave 3: OR = 0.56, 95% CI: 0.36-0.88). Conclusion This three-wave cross-sectional study revealed that the prevalence of burnout among health professionals was at a high level persistently during the different stages of the pandemic. The results suggest that functional impairment prevention resources and programs may be inadequate and, as such, continuous monitoring of these variables could provide evidence for developing optimal strategies for saving human resources in the coming post-pandemic era.

Abstract
The main objective of this study was to investigate the effect of burnout on suicidal behaviours and the mediating effect of self-esteem in this relationship. A total of 1172 healthcare professionals working in Portugal's private and public sector organisations participated in this study. The results indicate a high level of burnout among these professionals and that exhaustion (β = 0.16; p < 0.001) and disengagement (β = 0.24; p < 0.001) positively and significantly affect suicidal behaviours. In turn, self-esteem has a significant and negative effect (β = -0.51; p < 0.001) on suicidal behaviours. Self-esteem moderates the relationship between disengagement and suicidal behaviours (B = -0.12; p < 0.001) and the relationship between exhaustion and suicidal behaviours (B = -0.11; p < 0.001), representing an essential variable for future lines of research, namely on the role of self-esteem in preventing burnout and suicidal behaviours in professionals from other professional areas.
