Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the effects of Tai Chi Softball (TCSB) training on the physical health of older men, with a focus on improvements in muscle strength, flexibility, balance, and blood lipid profiles. A 12-week randomized controlled trial was conducted, recruiting 140 men aged 55-65 years. Participants were randomly assigned to either a Tai Chi Softball group (TCSBG, N = 70) or a control group (CG, N = 70). The TCSBG engaged in TCSB training sessions 4 to 5 times per week, with each session lasting 70 to 90 min, while the CG maintained their usual daily routines without any additional interventions. Measurements were taken before and after the intervention and included waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), handgrip strength (HS), sit-and-reach (SAR), single-leg stance (SLS), vital capacity (VC), heart rate, systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. The results revealed that after 12 weeks of TCSB training, participants in the TCSBG showed significant improvements (p < .05) in HS, SAR, and SLS, indicating enhanced muscle strength, flexibility, and balance, respectively. The VC also increased significantly, while both SBP and DBP decreased notably (p < .05). Moreover, significant reductions were observed in TC, TG, and LDL-C levels p < .05). In conclusion, TCSB training demonstrated efficacy in improving muscle strength, flexibility, balance, cardiorespiratory fitness, and blood lipid profiles in older men. These findings suggest that TCSB training can mitigate age-related declines in physical function and reduce cardiovascular risk in older men.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To analyze possible changes in body composition in elderly individuals with combat sports as an intervention. METHODS This study is characterized as a systematic review and meta-analysis. The PRISMA criteria were followed, and the study was registered in PROSPERO under the number CRD42023392613. The databases used were MEDLINE (via PubMed), Scopus, SPORTDiscus, Web of Science, and Science Direct. The risk of bias and methodological quality were assessed using Robins-I, Cochrane, and Testex tools. RESULTS Of the 126 publications found, 9 studies were included (5 controlled and randomized studies and 4 intervention studies). Of these studies, 6 provided data for the meta-analysis. A total of 126 publications were found and, the studies included in this systematic review had an average of 51 weeks, 3 times a week, and 50 min per session. In the results presented by the meta-analysis the variable body fat showed a reduction (SMD: -0.11; 95% CI: -0.99 to 0.09; p = 0.02; I2 = 0%). CONCLUSION Combat sports showed an improvement in the body composition of the elderly, with a reduction in the percentage of body fat.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Review of some of the best-known biological and non-biological complementary/alternative therapies/medicines (CAM) and their relationship with blood pressure (BP) and hypertension (HT). SEARCH STRATEGY Narrative review assessing a recent series of systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and clinical trials published in recent years, focusing on the effects of CAM on BP and HT. SELECTION OF STUDIES We searched EMBASE, MEDLINE, Cochrane Library and Google Scholar, obtaining a total of 4336 articles, finally limiting the search to 181 after applying filters. SYNTHESIS OF RESULTS Some studies on biological therapies show some usefulness in BP reduction with an adequate benefit-risk balance, although there is a scarcity of high-quality trials that support these results. Some mind-body therapies have shown hypothetical benefit; in contrast, others lack robust evidence. CONCLUSIONS Although some therapies present a reasonable risk-benefit ratio, they should in no case replace pharmacological treatment when indicated.

Abstract
Each person's body is host to a large number and variety of gut microbiota, which has been described as the second genome and plays an important role in the body's metabolic process and is closely related to health. It is common knowledge that proper physical activity and the right diet structure can keep us healthy, and in recent years, researchers have found that this boost to health may be related to the gut microbiota. Past studies have reported that physical activity and diet can modulate the compositional structure of the gut microbiota and further influence the production of key metabolites of the gut microbiota, which can be an effective way to improve body metabolism and prevent and treat related metabolic diseases. In this review, we outline the role of physical activity and diet in regulating gut microbiota and the key role that gut microbiota plays in improving metabolic disorders. In addition, we highlight the regulation of gut microbiota through appropriate physical exercise and diet to improve body metabolism and prevent metabolic diseases, aiming to promote public health and provide a new approach to treating such diseases.

Abstract
Intestinal flora is numerous and diverse, and play a key role in maintaining human health. Dietary polysaccharides are widely present in the daily diet and have a moderating effect on the intestinal flora. Past studies have confirmed that intestinal flora is involved in the metabolic process in the human body, and the change in intestinal flora structure is closely related to the metabolic disorders in the human body. Therefore, regulating intestinal flora through dietary polysaccharides is an effective way to treat and prevent common metabolic diseases and has great research value. However, this area has not received enough attention. In this review, we provide an overview of the modulatory effects of dietary polysaccharides on intestinal flora and the key role of intestinal flora in improving metabolic disorders in humans. In addition, we highlight the therapeutic and preventive effects of intestinal flora modulation through dietary polysaccharides on metabolic disorders, aiming to find new ways to treat metabolic disorders and facilitate future exploration in this field.

Abstract
Objectives Tai Chi (TC) is a potential complementary treatment for essential hypertension (EH). This overview systematically summarizes and evaluates the existing evidence of TC in the therapy of EH. Methods Systematic reviews (SRs)/meta-analyses (MAs) on TC interventions for EH were comprehensively searched in seven databases. Methodological quality, risk of bias, reporting quality, and quality of evidence were assessed by means of the Assessment of Multiple Systematic Reviews 2 (AMSTAR-2), the Risk of Bias in Systematic (ROBIS) scale, the list of Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA), as well as the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) system. Results Twelve published SRs/MAs were included in our study. According to the results of the AMSTAR-2, ROBIS, PRISMA, and GRADE assessment, only 1 SR/MA was assessed as high quality and only 1 SR/MA was assessed as low risk of bias. Only 2 SRs/MAs have been fully reported on the checklist. In addition to that, the quality of evidence was assessed for a total of 69 outcome indicators extracted from the SRs/MAs included in this overview, and only 3 items were assessed as high quality. Conclusions TC may be an effective and safe complementary treatment for EH. However, this conclusion must be approached with caution, as the quality of the evidence provided by the SRs/MAs is usually low.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Lumbar disc herniation (LDH) is a common disease, which can cause low back pain, sciatica, and even disability. The treatment of LDH is a global challenge. Conservative therapy with non-drugs is considered to be the first choice for patients with LDH. In recent years, an increasing number of systematic reviews and meta analyses on Daoyin and massage interventions in lumbar disc herniation have been implemented. However, the evidence quality and methodological quality of these systematic reviews/meta analyses are unknown and need to be systematically evaluated. This overview aims to systematically summarize and critically appraise the current evidence on Daoyin and massage for LDH. METHODS Eight electronic data will be retrieved, including China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang database (WF), China Biomedical database (CBM), Chinese Scientific Journals Database (VIP), PubMed, Cochrane Library, Web of Science (WOS), and EMBASE from their inception to March 1, 2022. The reporting quality, methodological quality, risk of bias, quality of evidence will be assessed by using The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses 2020 (PRISMA 2020), the Assessment of Multiple Systematic Reviews 2 (AMSTAR-2), the Risk of Bias in Systematic Review (ROBIS), and the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE). Two independent researchers conducted literature screening, data extraction, and quality evaluation process. In addition, we will establish an overlap matrix and calculate the corrected covered area to evaluate the impact of overlapping areas on conclusions. RESULTS The results will be published in a peer-reviewed journal. CONCLUSION This overview will provide comprehensive evidence of Daoyin and massage for treating lumbar disc herniation. Abstract
Objective This study aims to explore the clinical correlation between nonspecific ST-segment or T-wave (NS-STT) changes and perioperative deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in patients with lower extremity fractures. Methods One thousand four hundred sixty-nine consecutive patients who suffered lower extremity fractures were screened at Xi’an Honghui Hospital between Feb 2016 and Nov 2018. According to the included and excluded criteria, the patients were included in this retrospective study. After collecting the electrocardiogram baseline, the patients were divided into the NS-STT group and the non-NS-STT group. After comparing the demographic and clinical characteristics, multivariate logistic regression models were used to identify the role of NS-STT changes on perioperative DVT. All analyses were performed with R and EmpowerStats software. Results Nine hundred and sixty-eight patients were included in the study. Ninety-seven patients (10.02%) had NS-STT changes on the electrocardiogram at admission. A total of 303 patients (31.30%) developed perioperative DVT in lower extremities. The univariate analysis showed that NS-STT segment changes were correlated with perioperative DVT significantly (OR = 3.45, 95% CI: 2.25–5.30, P < 0.0001). In addition, age ≥50 (P < 0.0001), female (OR = 1.50, 95% CI: 1.14–1.97, P = 0.0038), hypertension (OR = 1.54, 95% CI: 1.08–2.20, P = 0.0161), blood transfusion (OR = 1.78, 95% CI: 1.34–2.37, P < 0.0001), joint prosthesis (OR = 3.26, 95% CI: 2.21–4.81, P < 0.0001), and blood loss ≥300 mL (OR = 2.12, 95% CI: 1.50–3.01, P < 0.0001) were associated with perioperative DVT in lower extremities. We identified the confounding factors of age, gender, classification of internal implants, operation time, blood loss, and infusion. After adjustment for potential confounding factors, NS-STT changes were associated with perioperative DVT (OR = 2.13, 95% CI: 1.33–3.42; P = 0.0017). The sensitive analysis showed that the result was stable. Conclusion The NS-STT changes on electrocardiograms are associated with an increase in the incidence of perioperative DVT by 2.13-fold in patients with lower extremity fractures under 75 years old. In clinical practice, surgeons should pay more attention to these patients.
