Abstract
OBJECTIVE This systematic review and meta-analysis aims to investigate the prevalence of cervical high-risk human papillomavirus (hrHPV) among kidney transplant recipients (KTRs) and, furthermore to compare it to that in immunocompetent controls. METHODS A systematic literature search was conducted in PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library databases from January 2000 to February 2023, to identify studies investigating the prevalence of cervical hrHPV in KTRs. Pooled cervical hrHPV prevalences, odds ratios (ORs) comparing KTRs to controls and corresponding confidence intervals (CIs) were estimated using random effects logistic regression models. Heterogeneity between studies was assessed through the I2 statistic, and the significance was evaluated by the Cochrane's Q test. RESULTS Altogether, 16 studies covering >1200 KTRs were included. The prevalence of cervical hrHPV in KTRs was 27.7% (95% CI 21.3-35.1) with substantial interstudy heterogeneity. Stratification indicated a higher prevalence in recent years (2019-2023) and in Asia (39% (95% CI 11.2-61.4)). The prevalence of HPV16 and HPV18 in KTRs was 8.0% (95% CI 3.9-15.9) and 1.7% (95% CI 0.8-3.7), respectively. Comparing hrHPV prevalence in KTRs and controls based on six studies including >500 KTRs and 1000 controls, the OR for hrHPV was 2.0 (95% CI 1.1-3.6). CONCLUSIONS This meta-analysis establishes an increased cervical hrHPV prevalence in KTRs compared to controls. The increased risk may be associated with immunosuppressive therapy post-transplantation. Further research is needed to explore the potential benefits of HPV vaccination, including potential revaccination strategies in KTRs.

Abstract
Human papillomavirus (HPV) encompasses a diverse array of viruses, comprising approximately 200 serotypes that affect humans. While the majority of HPV strains are associated with benign skin or mucous membrane growths, a subset is implicated in severe health conditions, such as cervical, anal, vulvar, and vaginal cancers. Despite the established effectiveness of HPV vaccines in preventing cervical and anal carcinomas in particular, their therapeutic potential in addressing cutaneous diseases linked to diverse HPV strains remains an intriguing area of investigation. This narrative review critically examines the existing literature to assess the viability of HPV immunization as a therapeutic intervention for prevalent cutaneous conditions. These include genital and extragenital cutaneous warts, epidermodysplasia verruciformis, and keratinocyte carcinomas. The findings suggest a promising dual role for HPV vaccines in preventing and treating dermatologic conditions while emphasizing future research directions, including the immunization perspective against β-HPVs. Moreover, the presence of conflicting study outcomes underscores the imperative for larger-scale, randomized trials with well-matched control groups to validate the efficacy of HPV immunization in the dermatologic context. This review contributes valuable insights into the evolving landscape of HPV-vaccine applications in the field of dermatology.

Abstract
As per a recent study conducted by the WHO, 15.4% of all cancers are caused by infectious agents of various categories, and more than 10% of them are attributed to viruses. The emergence of COVID-19 has once again diverted the scientific community's attention toward viral diseases. Some researchers have postulated that SARS-CoV-2 will add its name to the growing list of oncogenic viruses in the long run. However, owing to the complexities in carcinogenesis of viral origin, researchers across the world are struggling to identify the common thread that runs across different oncogenic viruses. Classical pathways of viral oncogenesis have identified oncogenic mediators in oncogenic viruses, but these mediators have been reported to act on diverse cellular and multiple omics pathways. In addition to viral mediators of carcinogenesis, researchers have identified various host factors responsible for viral carcinogenesis. Henceforth owing to viral and host complexities in viral carcinogenesis, a singular mechanistic pathway remains yet to be established; hence there is an urgent need to integrate concepts from system biology, cancer microenvironment, evolutionary perspective, and thermodynamics to understand the role of viruses as drivers of cancer. In the present manuscript, we provide a holistic view of the pathogenic pathways involved in viral oncogenesis with special emphasis on alteration in the tumor microenvironment, genomic alteration, biological entropy, evolutionary selection, and host determinants involved in the pathogenesis of viral tumor genesis. These concepts can provide important insight into viral cancers, which can have an important implication for developing novel, effective, and personalized therapeutic options for treating viral cancers.

Abstract
Increasing evidence shows that human papillomavirus (HPV) E6/E7 deletion in cervical cancer cells may be related to the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment and adverse reactions or resistance to immune checkpoint blockade. Here, we demonstrate that liposome delivery of CRISPR/cas9 can effectively knock out HPV, which, in turn, induces autophagy and triggers cell death-related immune activation by releasing damage-related molecular patterns. The results of in vivo experiments showed that HPV-targeting guide RNA-liposomes could promote CD8+ T cell infiltration in tumor tissues; enhance the expression of proinflammatory cytokines, such as interleukin-12, tumor necrosis factor-α, and interferon-γ, and reduce regulatory T cells and myeloid suppressor cells. The combination of HPV-targeting guide RNA-liposomes with immune checkpoint inhibitors and antiprogrammed death-1 antibodies produced highly effective antitumor effects. In addition, combination therapy induced immune memory in the cervical cancer model.

Abstract
Objective While human papillomavirus (HPV) infection in women is associated with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and cervical cancer, HPV testing is not often performed in routine practice for renal transplantation patients. The genotype-specific prevalence of HPV and risk factors for HPV infection are still unclear. Methods From 2010 to 2020, patients receiving renal transplantation surgery (referred to as RTRs), who had been screened for HPV infection one year after transplantation were enrolled. A comparison cohort of four age- and marital status-matched healthy individuals was selected for RTRs. The clinical characteristics and cervical screening results of RTRs were analyzed. Results Our study included 196 female renal transplant recipients (RTRs), none of whom had been vaccinated against HPV. Overall high-risk HPV (hrHPV) infection and abnormal cytology rates in the RTR group were 23.5% and 20.9%, respectively. The odds ratios of hrHPV infection and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 2+ in RTRs vs. non-RTRs were 3.033 (95% CI, 2.013-4.568) and 3.628 (95% CI, 1.863-7.067), respectively. The prevalence of HPV16 in RTRs was much higher (30.4% vs. 8.3%, P=0.002). The multi-infection rate was much higher in HPV-infected RTRs (23.9% vs. 1.14%, P<0.001). The only risk factor for hrHPV infection was the duration of immunosuppression, which increased with time. Conclusion RTRs had significantly higher HPV infection rates and increased risks of HPV-related cervical premalignancies and cancers due to the immunosuppressed state. The duration of immunosuppression is a risk factor for transplant recipients. Female RTRs may benefit from more frequent cervical cancer screening after renal transplantation than healthy women. Prospective research on HPV infection dynamics in RTRs and optimal screening methods should be further explored in the future.

Abstract
The human papillomavirus (HPV) can cause different cancers in both men and women. The virus interferes with functions of the cervix, vulva, vagina, anus in the anogenital area, breast, and head and neck cancer due to the local lesions. The tumors lead to death if not treated as a result of distant metastasis to internal organs and brain. Moreover, HPV attenuates the immune system during chronic infection and releases viral antigens into the tumor microenvironment. The tumors know how difficult is to win the battle with a strong united army of immune cells that are equipped with cytokines and enzymes. They confuse the immune cells with secreting viral antigens. The immune system is equipped with cytokines, a complement system, antibodies, and other secretory proteins to overcome the foreign invaders and viral antigens. However, the majority of the time, tumors win the battle without having all the equipment of the immune cells. Thus, in this review, we describe the recent progression in cellular and humoral immunity studies during the progression of HPV-related cancers. First of all, we describe the role of B, plasmoid cells, and B regulatory cells (Breg) in their functions in the tumor microenvironment. Then, different subtypes of T cells such as T CD8, CD4, T regulatory (Treg) cells were studied in recently published papers. Furthermore, NK cells and their role in tumor progression and prevention were studied. Finally, we indicate the breakthroughs in immunotherapy techniques for HPV-related cancers.

Abstract
Immunocompromised women are at an increased risk of developing malignancies, especially those that are viral-induced, such as invasive cervical cancer caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). The aim of the study was to describe gynecological follow-up of women undergoing chronic immunosuppressive therapy for various reasons (e.g., kidney/liver transplant, systemic lupus erythematosus), diagnosed with a high-risk HPV (hrHPV) infection based on a self-sampling test. Twenty-six hrHPV-positive women were invited to take part in a gynecological follow-up, including a visual assessment of the anogenital region, two-handed gynecological examination, and cervical cytology as well as a colposcopy and cervical biopsy when necessary. Four women declined taking part in the study. Over six years of observation, low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (LSIL) were detected at least once in 7/22 women (31.8%), and a cervical intraepithelial lesion 1 (CIN 1) histopathologic result was obtained five times in 3/22 women. No cases of high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions, CIN 2/3, or invasive cervical cancers were observed. Loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) was performed in three patients. As immunocompromised women are prone to persistent hrHPV infections, they should be under strict gynecological supervision because only vigilant surveillance enables fast detection and treatment of early dysplasia and, therefore, provides a chance for the reduction of the cervical cancer burden.

Abstract
Background: The primary objective of this work was to assess the prevalence and distribution of HPV genotypes in immunosuppressed patients, and to compare them with the French Monsonego cohort. Secondary objectives were to evaluate whether the risk of HPV infection was correlated with HIV viral load, CD4 cell count in HIV-infected patients and the type, number of immunosuppressive therapies or type of pathology (transplant vs. autoimmune diseases) in patients undergoing long-term immunosuppressive therapy. Methods: An observational, monocentric and historical study was conducted including all immunosuppressed patients having received an HPV testing, in the Laboratory of Virology, Nancy Regional Teaching Hospital Center, between 2014 and 2020. Immunosuppressed patients were either HIV-infected or received long-term immunosuppressive therapy. Results: In our cohort, the prevalence of HPV infection (75.6% vs. 16.1% p < 0.05), the proportion of patients with high-risk HPV infection (48.9% vs. 15.1% p < 0.05) and with multiple HPV infection (41.1% vs. 5.7% p < 0.05) were significantly higher than in the Monsonego cohort. HPV 52 (13%), 53 (13%) and 16 (10%) were the most common in the immunosuppressed population, while it was HPV 16, 42 and 51 in the Monsonego cohort. Conclusions: This study supports that a particular attention must be given to all the immunosuppressed patients for the screening and care of HPV-related diseases because of major modifications of HPV epidemiology compared with the overall population.
