Abstract
BACKGROUND Breast cancer treatments often have negative effects on fertility, which pose challenges among patients who want to be parents in the future. This study aimed to examine the efficacy of oocyte cryopreservation, embryo cryopreservation, and ovarian tissue cryopreservation in patients with breast cancer. METHODS This retrospective review evaluated 42 patients with breast cancer who underwent fertility preservation at our center from January 2012 to December 2022. This review encompassed the demographic characteristics of the patients, cancer stages, treatment details, and types of fertility preservation procedures and their outcomes. RESULTS The average age at disease diagnosis was 33.4 years. Approximately 90.4% of patients presented with early-stage cancer (≤2). Of 42 patients, 26 underwent oocyte cryopreservation; 17, embryo cryopreservation; and 2, ovarian tissue cryopreservation. Further, three patients received mixed treatment. The overall live birth rate was 63.2%. There are more live births in embryo cryopreservation group. The successful pregnancy group was significantly younger and had a remarkably higher quantity of preserved oocytes/embryos than the nonsuccessful pregnancy group. The oocyte and embryo utilization rates in cryopreservation were 7.69% and 52.94%, respectively. These findings underscored the importance of prompt, informed discussions about fertility preservation options. CONCLUSION Fertility preservation in patients with breast cancer have promising reproductive outcomes, with embryo cryopreservation being particularly effective. Prompt counseling and individualized fertility preservation strategies are important for improving the likelihood of posttreatment pregnancy. Nevertheless, future research on the long-term psychological and emotional effects of different fertility preservation methods must be performed.

Abstract
Objective: This review aims to summarize existing interventions from the international literature addressing fertility concerns in cancer patients, providing theoretical and practical guidance for future interventions. Methods: In September 2023, a systematic search covering 13 databases was conducted using the methodology outlined by the Joanne Briggs Institute for a comprehensive systematic review. This search identified published English and Chinese-language papers. Results: A total of 20 studies meeting inclusion criteria were included in this review. The studies predominantly originated in China and the United States. A comprehensive synthesis of interventions from the included literature across three dimensions and seven aspects was conducted. The interventions primarily focused on psychological interventions and web-based self-help tools for patients. The Reproductive Concerns After Cancer Scale (RCAC) was the primary assessment tool employed. Conclusion: Addressing fertility concerns in cancer patients is a complex issue involving various stakeholders and diverse intervention strategies. Lessons from international research can inform the development of context-specific interventions tailored to individual needs.

Abstract
Young female early breast cancer (≤ 40 years) treatment presents unique challenges due to its aggressive features. Using data from the Taiwan Cancer Registry (2007-2017), this study investigated its clinical characteristics, treatment patterns, and prognostic factors. The proportion of young female breast cancer declined from 12% to 8% during the study period. Triple-negative (TN) breast cancer was more prevalent in younger patients, while hormone receptor-positive (HR+)/human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative subtypes increased with age. Stages II and III were observed more frequently in older patients, whereas extremely young patients (20-29 years) exhibited compromised overall and recurrence-free survival. Subtype analysis revealed worse outcomes for TN and hormone receptor-negative/human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-positive (HER2+) cases. Treatment patterns showed that targeted therapy was more commonly administered to younger patients with HER2+, while endocrine therapy was used less frequently for HR+ cases, reflecting tolerability and treatment compliance challenges. Future research should focus on optimizing therapeutic strategies and addressing long-term survivorship to enhance care for young women with breast cancer.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Studies have shown that chemotherapy and radiotherapy can cause premature ovarian failure and loss of fertility in female cancer patients. Ovarian cortex cryopreservation is a good choice to preserve female fertility before cancer treatment. Following the remission of the disease, the thawed ovarian tissue can be transplanted back and restore fertility of the patient. However, there is a risk to reintroduce cancer cells in the body and leads to the recurrence of cancer. Given the low success rate of current in vitro culture techniques for obtaining mature oocytes from primordial follicles, an artificial ovary with primordial follicles may be a good way to solve this problem. METHODS In the study, we established an artificial ovary model based on the participation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) to evaluate the effect of MSCs on follicular development and oocyte maturation. P2.5 mouse ovaries were digested into single cell suspensions and mixed with bone marrow derived mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) at a 1:1 ratio. The reconstituted ovarian model was then generated by using phytohemagglutinin. The phenotype and mechanism studies were explored by follicle counting, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, in vitro maturation (IVM), in vitro fertilization (IVF), real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), and Terminal-deoxynucleotidyl transferase mediated nick end labeling(TUNEL) assay. RESULTS Our study found that the addition of BM-MSCs to the reconstituted ovary can enhance the survival of oocytes and promote the growth and development of follicles. After transplanting the reconstituted ovaries under kidney capsules of the recipient mice, we observed normal folliculogenesis and oocyte maturation. Interestingly, we found that BM-MSCs did not contribute to the formation of follicles in ovarian aggregation, nor did they undergo proliferation during follicle growth. Instead, the cells were found to be located around growing follicles in the reconstituted ovary. When theca cells were labeled with CYP17a1, we found some overlapped staining with green fluorescent protein(GFP)-labeled BM-MSCs. The results suggest that BM-MSCs may participate in directing the differentiation of theca layer in the reconstituted ovary. CONCLUSIONS The presence of BM-MSCs in the artificial ovary was found to promote the survival of ovarian cells, as well as facilitate follicle formation and development. Since the cells didn't proliferate in the reconstituted ovary, this discovery suggests a potential new and safe method for the application of MSCs in clinical fertility preservation by enhancing the success rate of cryo-thawed ovarian tissues after transplantation.
