The Effect of Structured Education to Patients Receiving Oral Agents for Cancer Treatment on Medication Adherence and Self-efficacy

A structured oral chemotherapy teaching tool to improve adherence in adults with multiple myeloma: A pilot randomized controlled trial

INTRODUCTION

Many of the newer treatments for adults with newly-diagnosed and relapsed multiple myeloma (MM) are orally administered. Adherence is a challenge, and little is known about strategies to optimize adherence.

MATERIALS AND METHODS

Forty-seven patients initiating orally-administered anti-myeloma therapy were enrolled and randomized in a pilot study to receive either standard of care teaching or the Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer Oral agent Teaching Tool (MOATT), a structured teaching tool. Adherence was measured electronically with a Medication Event Monitoring System (MEMS) cap. Optimal adherence was defined as an adherence rate of ≥90% over the six months study duration. Patients completed surveys regarding cancer therapy satisfaction and self-efficacy for medication management at one month and six months following the initiation of treatment in both arms.

RESULTS

The mean adherence of patients over six months was 86.9%; 43.9% of the cohort were classified as non-adherent using the 90% threshold of adherence. Mean adherence was similar among standard of care teaching (87.9%) versus the MOATT intervention tool (85.6%) as was cancer therapy satisfaction and self-efficacy for medication management.

DISCUSSION

In our pilot, the MOATT tool was not found to be feasible or acceptable. There were no preliminary differences noted between standard of care teaching versus the structured MOATT teaching tool with regards to overall adherence rates, cancer therapy satisfaction, or self-efficacy in medication management. Overall adherence rates were suboptimal in our study. Future research should work to identify aspects of educational interventions which are effective, and investigate different strategies which can be used to supplement patient education and potentially optimize medication adherence in patients with MM.

Advanced practice nurse management in multiple myeloma treated with oral therapy

INTRODUCTION

Therapeutic approaches in Multiple Myeloma (MM) have considerably changed over the last few years, with effective oral chemotherapy and continuous treatment. In this context, the objective of this study was to examine the circuitry of an advanced practitioner nurse (APN)-led intervention that provided supportive care for MM patients treated with oral chemotherapy.

METHODS

This population-based study was conducted at the hematology department - Institut de Cancérologie Lucien Neuwirth (ICLN, Saint-Priest-en-Jarez), from April 2017 to September 2020. A follow-up program was established with a specialized APN in oncology.

RESULTS

All APN interventions were recorded, representing 1240 phone calls and 162 consultations for 42 MM patients. Eighty-two calls were referred to the physician with 45 consultations triggered. Most of the calls were frequent within the few first months, with a high request for information and reassurance, especially for treatment-naive or relapsed patients. In our study, the APN was able to manage multiple side effects through care organization (i.e., hospitalizations, transfusions) and a careful coordination between the primary care team and the hospital.

DISCUSSION

In order to respond to the high need for care pathway and safety improvement, especially in elderly population, we have initiated an original follow-up by an APN for MM patients treated with oral chemotherapy. While the role of APN has become prominent in the oncology field in recent years, its holistic approach has to be emphasized in further studies to bring a comprehensive perspective to health care coordination in the future.

Development and Content Validity of the Self-Care of Oral Anticancer Agents Index (SCOAAI)

OBJECTIVE

To develop and test the content validity of the Self-Care of Oral Anticancer Agents Index (SCOAAI).

DATA SOURCES

SCOAAI items were developed according to the COnsensus-based Standards for the selection of health Measurement INstruments (COSMIN) criteria. The Middle Range Theory of Self-Care of Chronic Illnesses informed item generation. A four-phase procedure was followed; Phase 1: items were created based on a previous systematic review and a qualitative study; Phase 2: the SCOAAI comprehensibility and comprehensiveness were established through qualitative interviews with clinical experts and with patients (Phase 3); and Phase 4: the SCOAAI was then administered through an online survey to a group of clinical experts for the Content Validity Index (CVI) calculation.

CONCLUSION

The first version of the SCOAAI included 27 items. Five clinical experts and 10 patients tested the comprehensiveness and comprehensibility of instructions, items, and response options. Fifty-three experts (71.7% female, mean experience with patients on oral anticancer agents 5.8 years [standard deviation ± .2]; 66% nurses) participated in the online survey for content validity testing. The final version of the SCOAAI includes 32 items. Item CVI ranges between 0.79 and 1; the average Scale CVI is 0.95. Future studies will test the psychometric properties of the tool.

IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING PRACTICE

The SCOAAI showed excellent content validity, confirming its usefulness for assessing self-care behaviors for patients on oral anticancer agents. By implementing this instrument, nurses could define and implement targeted interventions for improving self-care and obtaining more positive outcomes (eg, better quality of life, reduced hospitalizations and emergency department visits).

Interpersonal communication-, education- and counselling-based interventions to support adherence to oral anticancer therapy: a systematic review

Background. Many factors contribute to oral anti-cancer therapy adherence, including counselling and educational support. Objective. We systematically review the literature evaluating the effectiveness of interpersonal communication-, counselling- and education-based interventions on patient adherence to oral anticancer therapy. Methods. Using search terms pertaining to medication adherence, oral anticancer therapy, and communication, education, and counselling, we conducted a systematic search for full-text, original research articles prior to 3/13/20. Two reviewers independently reviewed each paper for inclusion and charted study information. Results. Twenty-four articles were included. All considered the use of oral anticancer therapy between two defined time points. Four studies also considered the length of time a patient persisted on therapy. Half (n = 12) of the studies reported a statistically significant relationship between the intervention and medication adherence, with no consistent pattern among intervention structure/content and effectiveness. Programmes offering in-person counselling and those targeting patients with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), tended to report positive findings. Most studies faced substantial risk of bias, and only two reported using a behavioural theory to guide interventional content. Conclusions. Findings highlight the infancy of evidence base and need for rigorous and large-scale studies grounded in established behavioural theories to advance patient-targeted educational and counselling practices supporting adherence to oral anti-cancer therapy.

Use of Mobile Applications to Increase Therapeutic Adherence in Adults: A Systematic Review

Failure to comply with therapeutic treatments implies negative repercussions for the patient's quality of life, their social environment, and health system. The use of information and communication technologies, especially mobile applications, has favored the increase in global therapeutic adherence figures. The objective of this study is to characterize the use of mobile applications as a strategy to increase therapeutic adherence in adults. A systematic literature review in Web of Science and Scopus was performed following the Preferred Information elements for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis. Information such as: the year of publication, the study population, the medical conditions of the participants, the main characteristics or functionalities of the mobile applications, and the methods or tools used to measure treatment adherence were extracted from each included article. The risk of bias was assessed. Twelve randomized controlled trials (RCTs), published in English from 1996 to May 2021, were included. Chronic diseases have been mostly addressed through interventions with mobile applications. The most reported functions of mobile applications were reminders, educational modules, two-way communication, and games. Tools such as: "Morisky Medication Adherence Scale of eight items"; "Medication adherence questionnaire"; "Self-reported adherence"; among others, were used to evaluate and report the treatment adherence. In conclusion, including treatment interventions using mobile applications in clinical practice has proven to be beneficial to improve therapeutic adherence. However, it is necessary to develop high-quality clinical trials (size and duration) to generalize results and justify their use in conventional health services.

Preparation for Cancer Treatment: A Cross-Sectional Study Examining Patient Self-Reported Experiences and Correlates

Given the significant physical and psychosocial side-effects cancer treatment has on individuals, it is important to ensure patients receive adequate preparation prior to treatment. The purpose of this study was to explore, among Australian oncology patients, (i) the self-reported treatment preparation information they received; and (ii) the patient characteristics associated with the treatment preparation information received. Patients in the early stages of cancer treatment were invited to complete a survey exploring their receipt of information about treatment preparation. Items assessed patients' self-report of whether they had received information about the treatment process. A total of 165 participants completed the survey. Patients most frequently reported receiving information about how they might feel physically (94%) and what side effects to watch for (93%). One in five patients reported not receiving information about how to cope with any stress or worry related to treatment. Females reported receiving significantly fewer items of care compared to males (p = 0.0083). This study suggests that while self-reported preparation for cancer treatment is generally high, components of preparation related to psychosocial concerns could be improved. Survey data could be used as a feedback tool for centres to monitor delivery of care.

Deprived social status is associated with decreased use of oral chemotherapy in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer: A retrospective cohort study on administrative databases in a French University Hospital

Factors associated with the choice of oral versus intravenous CT are not clearly established. Our purpose was to evaluate the influence of social status and home distance to hospital on the use of oral CT in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). This retrospective single-center study included mCRC patients between 2011 and 2017. Patient social status was assessed by European Deprivation Index (EDI) and home distance to the hospital was calculated. Univariable and multivariable logistic regression analyses were performed. One hundred and seventy-five mCRC patients were included, with 71 receiving oral CT. Most deprived patients received less oral CT (OR 0.5 [0.26, 0.96], p = .039). No association was found for road distance. Previous use of adjuvant oral CT was associated with oral CT in mCRC (OR 2.65 [1.06, 6.66], p = .038). Our results suggest that deprived social status is a factor associated with decreased use of oral CT in patients with mCRC. Clinical trial registration: no registration.

The Effect of Educational Intervention on Care Dependency and Symptom Management After Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation: A Theory-Based Randomized Controlled Study

The objective of the research was to determine the effect of educational intervention based on Bandura’s Social Cognitive Learning Theory on care dependency and symptom management after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Methods. This randomized controlled trial was conducted between January 2019 and February 2020 at the Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation Center. All the patients were randomly divided into two groups: 53 individuals in the intervention group and 53 individuals in the control group. The sociodemographic data collection form, the Edmonton Symptom Assessment Scale and the Care Dependency Scale were used for data collection. Data were collected from the patients one day after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and 12 weeks later. Results. There were no statistically significant differences between the groups regarding the mean scores of the Edmonton Symptom Assessment Scale and the Care Dependency Scale at baseline. Twelve weeks after intervention, there were statistically significant differences between the groups regarding the mean scores of the Edmonton Symptom Assessment Scale and the Care Dependency Scale. Conclusions. Educational intervention along with telephone counseling based on Bandura’s theory was found to be an effective way to reduce symptom severity and care dependency in patients who underwent hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and is recommended for all patients after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

The role of the clinical pharmacist in guiding adjuvant hormonal therapy in patients with breast cancer

Breast cancer is the most prevalent type of cancer among women, affecting about 2.1 million worldwide and is responsible for the highest number of cancer-related deaths among women. Approximately 80% of breast cancers express on the surface of hormone receptor cells, such as progesterone and estrogen. In these cases, Adjuvant Hormonal Therapy (AHT) is indicated for a period of five to ten years and consists of taking a daily oral pill. The two most used drugs in AHT are tamoxifen and Aromatase Inhibitors. One of the issues most faced by individuals who are subjected to long periods of treatment is the lack of medication adherence and, consequently, therapeutic inefficiency. It is believed that the monitoring by the pharmacist can contribute to the reduction of errors inherent to the medication, making the treatment more effective and improving the patient's quality of life. The present study aimed to know the perception of patients who live with breast cancer and who do AHT in relation to the educational performance of the clinical pharmacist. This is a qualitative, descriptive and exploratory study, carried out from March to October 2020, with 15 women undergoing treatment at the oncology unit of a tertiary-care hospital in south of Brazil. The data were obtained through a semi-structured interview using an instrument composed of two parts, one referring to the characterization of the participants and the other with the guiding question of the research: "How do you perceive the role of the pharmacist in relation to the guidelines for the use of adjuvant hormonal therapy?". The method of theoretical saturation was used to perform the sample closure and the thematic analysis was used to analyze the data. The participants were between 32 and 74 years old, seven were on tamoxifen therapy and eight on anastrozole, ten were on the first year of treatment, two on the second and three on the third year. The themes that emerged were: pharmacist-patient interaction as a safety factor in hormone therapy; role of the pharmacist in the development of strategies for self-management of the patients during hormone therapy; and, challenges for the pharmacist in relation to hormone therapy through continued guidance. It was evident that the pharmacist's educational action encouraged the participants to carry out the treatment in a more confident and assertive manner according to their particularities and beliefs.

The effect of a mobile application on treatment adherence and symptom management in patients using oral anticancer agents: A randomized controlled trial

PURPOSE

The use of mobile health technologies in the management of oral anticancer agents (OAA) can be beneficial in terms of treatment adherence and symptom management. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of a mobile application developed for patients using OAA on treatment adherence and symptom management.

METHOD

The study was conducted using a randomized controlled trial design, and it was carried out on 77 patients. Data were collected from the Oral Chemotherapy Adherence Scale (OCAS), and the Memorial Symptom Assessment Scale (MSAS). Data were collected at the beginning of the research, and face-to-face interviews were conducted after one, three, and six months. Patients in the intervention group were followed up for six months using the mobile application.

RESULTS

It was found that there was no difference between the intervention and control groups in the baseline OCAS mean scores (p > 0.05), and the mean score of the intervention group increased over the first, third- and sixth-month measurements (p < 0.05). It was found that there was no difference between the intervention and control groups in the MSAS mean scores (p > .05), and there was a decrease in the mean MSAS score of the intervention group between the third- and sixth-month follow-up (p < .05).

CONCLUSION

The present study results showed that the mobile application is effective in managing symptoms and increasing treatment adherence. A well-designed mobile health application that increases treatment adherence, decreases symptom severity, and supports patients' self-management could be beneficial for patients using OAA. The Effect of Educational Follow-Up with the Motivational Interview Technique on Self-Efficacy and Drug Adherence in Cancer Patients Using Oral Chemotherapy Treatment: A Randomized Controlled Trial

OBJECTIVES

This study aimed to determine the effect of educational follow-up with the motivational interview technique on drug adherence and self-efficacy in patients with cancer using at least one oral chemotherapy drug.

DATA SOURCES

A total of 80 patients with cancer were randomly allocated to the intervention group or the control group. Educational follow-up with the motivational interview technique was applied to the patients with phone calls during weeks 1, 3, 6, and 9. Patients in the intervention and control groups were evaluated during both the first interview and at week 12 using a questionnaire, the medication adherence self-efficacy scale (MASES), and oral chemotherapy adherence scale (OCAS).

CONCLUSION

At the end of the study, the level of drug adherence and self-efficacy of patients who received educational follow-up with the motivational interview technique by phone call increased significantly (P < .001). Additionally, the level of drug self-efficacy of patients increased (P < .001).

IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING PRACTICE

This study emphasizes treatment compliance problems of patients with cancer using oral chemotherapy. Designed with communication techniques that will be added to our counseling process, interventions can allow nurses to use their time effectively.

PI3K Inhibitors and Adverse Events: Optimizing Patient Care for the Treatment of Advanced Breast Cancer

BACKGROUND

Excessive activation of the PI3K pathway has been associated with malignant transformation and resistance to treatment in various cancer types. Various PI3K inhibitors have been evaluated in phase 3 clinical trials; however, most have been associated with modest clinical improvement and poor tolerability. The safety profile of PI3K inhibitors poses new challenges in treatment monitoring and management of common adverse events (AEs).

OBJECTIVES

The purpose of this article is to provide an overview of AEs associated with PI3K inhibitors, with a focus on alpelisib, as well as guidance on the prevention and management of AEs.

METHODS

The literature and results from phase 3 trials evaluating the efficacy and safety of endocrine therapy plus PI3K inhibitors in patients with advanced breast cancer were reviewed.

FINDINGS

AEs associated with PI3K inhibitors include hyperglycemia, diarrhea, nausea, rash, and decreased appetite. Prevention strategies are recommended to avoid the development or decrease the severity of these AEs. Patient education and multidisciplinary care are necessary for the optimal care of these patients.

[Patients on oral anticancer drugs and coordinated pathway: CHIMORAL, feedback from care providers]

INTRODUCTION

Oral anticancer drugs have raised the question of how to follow-up these patients and how to coordinate this follow-up. The CHIMORAL study evaluated the involvement of primary care providers and a coordination by territorial health networks. Training/information tools were provided, as well as weekly nursing follow-up at home.

METHODS

The operational feasibility of this model was assessed through a qualitative/quantitative analysis of territorial health network intervention and feedback from primary care providers.

RESULTS

One hundred and fifty four patients received coordinated care, with nursing follow-up for 89% of them (average 6.3 weeks). One in three nurses, one in five pharmacists and one in ten doctors used the tools provided, 41% of which were used for training and 16% for the management of an adverse event. The main reasons for using the networks concerned adverse effects (34%) and came mainly from nurses (45%) and patients and their relatives (47%). Patients felt safe, with more responsive management.

DISCUSSION

This intervention has strengthened the networks' links with primary care providers. The use of the community-based care system for adverse events was more frequent, with improved detection and patient awareness, with no observed impact on compliance. A proposed evolution is to maintain an in-home assessment for all patients and to define a frequency and duration of follow-up according to the patient's profile.

Mechanistic basis for PI3K inhibitor antitumor activity and adverse reactions in advanced breast cancer

PURPOSE

The phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) pathway is involved in several physiological processes, including glucose metabolism, cell proliferation, and cell growth. Hyperactivation of this signaling pathway has been associated with tumorigenesis and resistance to treatment in various cancer types. Mutations that activate PIK3CA, encoding the PI3K isoform p110α, are common in breast cancer, particularly in the hormone receptor-positive (HR+), human epidermal growth factor receptor-2-negative (HER2-) subtype. A number of PI3K inhibitors have been developed and evaluated for potential clinical use in combinations targeting multiple signaling pathways in cancer. The purpose of this review is to provide an overview of PI3K inhibitor mechanisms of action for antitumor activity and adverse events in advanced breast cancer (ABC).

METHODS

Published results from phase 3 trials evaluating the efficacy and safety of PI3K inhibitors in patients with ABC and relevant literature were reviewed.

RESULTS

Although PI3K inhibitors have been shown to prolong progression-free survival (PFS), the therapeutic index is often unfavorable. Adverse events, such as hyperglycemia, rash, and diarrhea are frequently observed in these patients. In particular, hyperglycemia is intrinsically linked to the inhibition of PI3Kα, a key mediator of insulin signaling. Off-target effects, including mood disorders and liver toxicity, have also been associated with some PI3K inhibitors.

CONCLUSION

Recent clinical trial results show that specifically targeting PI3Kα can improve PFS and clinical benefit. Broad inhibition of class I PI3Ks appears to result in an unfavorable safety profile due to off-target effects, limiting the clinical utility of the early PI3K inhibitors.

Improvement in adherence to Capecitabine and Lapatinib by way of a therapeutic education program

PURPOSE

A patient non-adherence with oral anticancer agents is a well-recognized barrier to effective treatment. The aim of this prospective study was to evaluate the efficacy of a therapeutic education program among non-adherent patients treated with Capecitabine alone or associated with Lapatinib.

METHODS

Sixty-five cancer patients were enrolled. Among them, 55 participated in the first observational phase of the study, measuring adherence using electronic MEMS pillboxes (medication event monitoring system). An adherence score was assessed in the form of a composite adherence score including intake dose and intake intervals. Ten non-adherent patients (adherence score < 80%) were included in the intervention phase of the study and were enrolled on a therapeutic education program. The efficacy of the program was evaluated on the basis of an improvement in adherence scores. We also studied factors influencing adherence.

RESULTS

The average adherence score was 83.6 ± 15.7% in the overall population. Forty-one patients were adherent (adherence score > 80%) and 14 patients were non-adherent (adherence score < 80%). The therapeutic education program for non-adherent patients (n = 10) increased their adherence score by 17.8% and led 60% of these patients to become adherent. The number of toxicities during the first cycles was a predictive factor for non-adherence.

CONCLUSION

This study showed an improvement in adherence to Capecitabine ± Lapatinib among non-adherent patients by way of a therapeutic education program.

[Management of cancer patients with oral therapy at home in Brittany and Pays de la Loire areas: Survey (end of 2016) and cartography]

INTRODUCTION

The Cancer Observatory, from the OMEDITs (Observatory for Medicines and Medical Devices and Treatment Innovations) of Bretagne and Pays de la Loire areas has conducted a survey aiming to know and map the current practices of management of patients by Oral Anti-cancer Drug (OAD) in inter-region.

METHODS

Forty eight cancer centers received by e-mail in July and October 2016 a questionnaire concerning the management of OADs : from prescription by the specialist of oncology, to the intervention of the pharmacist (analysis and pharmaceutical consulting), to follow-up by nurse, as well as the financing of this activity and the feelings of the actors about this organizational set up.

RESULTS

Fifty-seven professionals from 31 centers, including the most important ones, responded to the survey. As a result, half of the establishments carry out a pharmaceutical analysis for some or all of the OAD prescriptions and only 30% carry out a pharmaceutical consulting. The nurse consultation is, on the other hand, more largely implanted (74% of the centers) as well as the telephone follow-up (6%). More than 90% of professionals believe that the organizational set up could be improved and more secure by, at least, the stronger involvement of pharmacists, the development of tools for nurse (for monitoring, therapeutic education…) and by improving the city-hospital link.

CONCLUSION

This survey shows the variability in the management of patients under OAD because of the lack of resources to ensure the fairness and sustainability of the organizational set up. The hospital/city link could still be optimized to secure patient care.

Effects of message-framed informational videos on diabetes management knowledge and self-efficacy

AIM

Nurses play an essential role in improving health-related knowledge and self-efficacy of patients through health education. This study aimed to investigate the effects of message-framed informational videos on diabetes management knowledge and self-efficacy in patients with type 2 diabetes.

METHODS

A quasi-experimental pretest and posttest design with two experimental and one standard care comparison groups was carried out to examine the effects of the message-framed videos. The two message-framed informational videos were developed to provide health teachings about diabetes self-care. The knowledge and self-efficacy of the two video groups and lecture comparison group were measured before and after the intervention using valid and reliable instruments established by the authors.

RESULTS

After the intervention, the knowledge and self-efficacy of the two experimental groups were significantly higher than the comparison group. No significant difference was found in the knowledge scores between the two experimental groups, but a significant difference was noted in the average increase in their self-efficacy.

CONCLUSION

Message-framed informational videos can be effective in increasing the diabetes management knowledge and self-efficacy, and a gain-framed rather than loss-framed approach can be superior in increasing self-efficacy.

Design Considerations in the Development of App-Based Oral Anticancer Medication Management Systems: a Qualitative Evaluation of Pharmacists' and Patients' Perspectives

Smartphone apps can potentially help in enhancing oral anticancer medication (OAM) adherence. Patient adoption and efficacy of such apps depends on inclusion of user-centred and evidence-based features. The objective of this study was to identify important design considerations from the perspectives of patients taking OAMs, caregivers and oncology pharmacists. The study employed a qualitative study design. Data were collected using in-depth interviews with patients (n = 15), caregivers (n = 3) and pharmacists (n = 16). Interviews were audio-recorded, transcribed verbatim and inductive thematic analysis approach was used in data analysis. Monitoring medication-related problems, medication information, replacement of or integration with current systems and accessibility of app content on devices other than smartphones were the key themes identified in the analysis. Flexible input methods for monitored data, glanceability of monitored reports/information, near real-time adherence enhancing and symptom management interventions and customisable reminder options were design considerations identified under the monitoring medication-related problems theme. Participants suggested the provision of focused and easily understandable medication information with a potential for personalisation. Integration of app-based adherence systems with patients' electronic medical records with added mechanisms for alerts in the dispensing system was also suggested as a key design requirement to improve quality of patient care and facilitate adoption by clinicians. Finally, smartphones were the most favoured platform with optional accessibility of app content on other devices. In conclusion, important design considerations were identified through a user-centred design approach. The findings will help developers and clinicians in the design of new app-based systems and evaluation of existing ones.

Oral Agents in Cancer Treatment: Meeting the Patients' Needs to Ensure Medication Adherence

She received her Bachelor of Nursing, Master, and PhD degrees from Hacettepe University School of Nursing in Ankara, Turkey. She has over 25 years experiences in oncology nursing; she is an active member of national and international organizations, namely, Turkish Oncology Nursing Association (TONA), International Society of Nurses in Cancer Care (ISNCC), European Oncology Nursing Society (EONS), ONS, and Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC). She was served on ISNCC and EONS Board and former president of EONS. She was the principal investigator of several studies of the education of patients receiving oral cancer agents, which led to develop “The MASCC Teaching Tool for Patients Receiving Oral Agents for Cancer MASCC Oral Agents Teaching Tool (MOATT)©” and the MOATT© User Guide. She is the recipient of the 2010 ONS International Award for Contributions to Cancer Care; before this, she has received MASCC Young Investigator Award in 2004 and MASCC Best Young Investigator Award for her research study “Patient Education and Follow-up for Oral Chemotherapy Treatment in Turkey” in 2005.
