Synthesis and photometric properties of efficient white-emitting phosphor of M-AMG transition metal complexes for OLED applications

Progression in lighting sources mainly depended on new, robust energy-efficient diodes due to their advanced photometric properties. All organic light-emitting sources are constant energy-efficient devices and will be the light of the future. We explore the potential of transition metal complexes by focusing on cobalt(II), nickel(II), and copper (II) with aminoguanidine naphthoate as white phosphors in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). The phosphors synthesized at optimized temperature were characterized structurally and thermally by spectral, thermal, and diffraction techniques. The photophysical studies of the target compound in several organic solvents having divergent polarity were also studied, and the results were exhibited. Photometric properties of the complexes were studied using photoluminescence, CIE (Commission internationale de l'éclairage) chromaticity coordinates, correlated color temperature, color purity, Duv, and TLCI (Television Lighting Consistency Index) to verify the applicability of complexes as phosphors. Excellent luminescence property with a high coloring index for (Cu(2NA-AMG-2H2 O)) opens the advanced avenue for light sources and serves as vital constituents for light-emitting diodes.

Synthesis, Characterization, and Studies on Photophysical Properties of Rhodamine Derivatives and Metal Complexes in Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells

Rhodamine 6G dyes are low-cost, highly soluble fluorescent dyes frequently utilized as laser dyes, chemical sensors, and as tracer dyes in the determination of the direction and rate of flow of water. In this study, the photophysical properties of three rhodamine 6G dyes, bearing phenyl (P15), furan (P41), and 5-hydroxymethyl furan (P45), and their metal complexes were investigated using ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, fluorescence lifetime, and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) measurements. Rhodamine 6G dyes and their complexes were subsequently applied as sensitizing dyes in the fabrication of dye-sensitized solar cells, and the solar to electric power efficiency and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements were performed. The solar to electric power efficiency values of the metal complexes of the rhodamine 6G dyes were higher than those of the devices fabricated with only rhodamine dyes without copper (II). The most significant change was observed in rhodamine P41 with a 30% increase in solar to electric power efficiency when the dye was conjugated to the copper ion.

Electrocatalytic Oxidation of Methanol, Ethanol, and Glycerol on Ni(OH)2 Nanoparticles Encapsulated with Poly[Ni(salen)] Film

This study describes a systematic investigation of the electrocatalytic activity of poly[Ni(salen)] films, as catalysts for the electro-oxidation of Cn alcohols (Cn = methanol, ethanol, and glycerol) in alkaline medium. The [Ni(salen)] complex was electropolymerized on a glassy carbon surface and electrochemically activated in NaOH solution by cyclic voltammetry. X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy results indicate that during the activation step the polymeric film hydrolyzes, leading to the formation of β-Ni(OH)₂ spherical nanoparticles, with an average size of 2.4 ± 0.5 nm, encapsulated with the poly[Ni(salen)] film. Electrochemical results obtained together with the in situ Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy confirm that the electro-oxidation of methanol, ethanol, and glycerol occurs by involving a cycling oxidation of β-Ni(OH)₂ with the formation of β-NiOOH species, followed by the charge transfer to the alcohols, which regenerates β-Ni(OH)₂. Analyses of the oxidation products at low potentials indicate that the major product obtained during the oxidation of methanol and glycerol is the formate, while the oxidation of ethanol leads to the formation of acetate. On the other hand, at high potentials (E = 0.6 V), there is evidence that the oxidation of Cn alcohols leads to carbonate ions as an important product.

Synthesis and Characterization of Reduced Graphene Oxide and Their Application in Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells

Reduced graphene oxide has certain unique qualities that make them versatile for a myriad of applications. Unlike graphene oxide, reduced graphene oxide is a conductive material and well suited for use in electrically conductive materials, such as solar cell devices. In this study, we report on the synthesis of graphene oxide as well as the fabrication and characterization of dye-sensitized solar cells with a photoanode which is an amalgam of reduced graphene oxide and titanium dioxide. The synthesized reduced graphene oxide and the corresponding photoanode were fully characterized using Ultraviolet-visible, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), and Raman Spectrometry. The morphology of the sample was assessed using Atomic Force Microscopy, Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy, Transmission Electron Microscopy, and Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy. The photovoltaic characteristics were determined by photocurrent and photo-voltage measurements of the fabricated solar cells. The electrical impedances of both sets of devices were also evaluated. Overall, the solar to electric power efficiency of the device with reduced graphene oxide was observed to be higher (2.02%) than the device without the reduced graphene oxide (1.61%).
