Abstract
Environmental DNA (eDNA) monitoring, a rapidly advancing technique for assessing biodiversity and ecosystem health, offers a noninvasive approach for detecting and quantifying species from various environmental samples. In this review, a comprehensive overview of current eDNA collection and detection technologies is provided, emphasizing the necessity for standardization and automation in aquatic ecological monitoring. Furthermore, the intricacies of water bodies, from streams to the deep sea, and the associated challenges they pose for eDNA capture and analysis are explored. The paper delineates three primary eDNA survey methods, namely, bringing back water, bringing back filters, and bringing back data, each with specific advantages and constraints in terms of labor, transport, and data acquisition. Additionally, innovations in eDNA sampling equipment, including autonomous drones, subsurface samplers, and in-situ filtration devices, and their applications in monitoring diverse taxa are discussed. Moreover, recent advancements in species-specific detection and eDNA metabarcoding are addressed, highlighting the integration of novel techniques such as CRISPR-Cas and nanopore sequencing that enable precise and rapid detection of biodiversity. The implications of environmental RNA and epigenetic modifications are considered for future applications in providing nuanced ecological data. Lastly, the review stresses the critical role of standardization and automation in enhancing data consistency and comparability for robust long-term biomonitoring. We propose that the amalgamation of these technologies represents a paradigm shift in ecological monitoring, aligning with the urgent call for biodiversity conservation and sustainable management of aquatic ecosystems.

Abstract
Conservation of biodiversity is critical for the coexistence of humans and the sustenance of other living organisms within the ecosystem. Identification and prioritization of specific regions to be conserved are impossible without proper information about the sites. Advanced monitoring agencies like the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) had accredited that the sum total of species that are now threatened with extinction is higher than ever before in the past and are progressing toward extinct at an alarming rate. Besides this, the conceptualized global responses to these crises are still inadequate and entail drastic changes. Therefore, more sophisticated monitoring and conservation techniques are required which can simultaneously cover a larger surface area within a stipulated time frame and gather a large pool of data. Hence, this study is an overview of remote monitoring methods in biodiversity conservation via a survey of evidence-based reviews and related studies, wherein the description of the application of some technology for biodiversity conservation and monitoring is highlighted. Finally, the paper also describes various transformative smart technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and/or machine learning algorithms for enhanced working efficiency of currently available techniques that will aid remote monitoring methods in biodiversity conservation.

Abstract
Genomic profiling is a suitable tool for variety authentication and has applications in both operational quality and regulatory raw material control. It can be used to differentiate species or varieties and to identify admixtures as well as field contaminants. To establish a molecular profile, reliable and very accurate sequence data are required. As a result of the influence of the pollinator plant, nuclear genome-based authentication is in most cases not suitable for a direct application on the fruit. Sequences must be used that come exclusively from the localized mother plant. Parts of the fruit of maternal origin, e.g., components derived from the blossom, are suitable as a basis for this. Alternatively, DNA from cell organelles that are maternally inherited, such as mitochondria or chloroplasts, can be used. The latter will be discussed in this review in closer detail. Although individual gene segments on the chloroplast genome are already used for species differentiation in barcoding studies on plants, little is known about the usefulness of the entire chloroplast genome for intraspecies differentiation in general and for differentiation between modern varieties in particular. Results from the literature as well as from our own work suggest that chloroplast genome sequences are indeed very well-suited for the differentiation of old varieties. On the other hand, they are less or not suitable for the genetic differentiation of modern cultivars, because they are often too closely related.
