Abstract
This comprehensive review explores a wide range of imaging findings associated with the gallbladder (GB), from anatomic variants to rare diseases. Through an in-depth review of diagnostic modalities including ultrasound, magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography, CT, and MRI, we aim to highlight the crucial role of imaging techniques in diagnosing GB disorders, as congenital anomalies, inflammatory diseases, neoplasms, and surgical complications. Employing a detailed analysis and comparison of imaging findings across various modalities, this review seeks to improve diagnostic accuracy for GB-related pathologies, facilitating optimal patient management.

Abstract
Mucinous cystic tumor of the gallbladder is an extremely rare benign tumor, with potential for malignant degeneration. Mucinous cystic tumors of the cystic duct are divided into mucinous cystadenoma and mucinous cystadenocarcinoma. Currently, cystadenoma is generally considered to be a precancerous lesion of cystadenocarcinoma. At present, there are few cases reported worldwide, and there are no relevant guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of this disease. This article presents the collected clinical data of a patient with mucinous cystic tumor of the gallbladder who was admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Hunan Normal University, with the characteristics of the disease summarized in combination with a focused literature review.

Abstract
Mucinous cystic neoplasms (MCNs) are uncommon cystic lesions that arise in the liver and biliary system (MCN-LBS) and the pancreas (MCN-P) and rarely arise from the extrahepatic biliary system. Histologically, these lesions are defined by the presence of variably mucin-producing epithelium with ovarian-like, hypercellular mesenchymal stroma. Herein, we present a case of extrahepatic MCN-LBS in a 51-year-old woman. This lesion arose from the cystic duct and was removed via laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Histologic examination confirmed the diagnosis. To our knowledge, this is the third case report of an MCN-LBS arising from the cystic duct in the English literature. In this article, we review clinical and histologic characteristics of MCNs and present two other reports of MCN-LBS of the cystic duct.

Mixed Adenoneuroendocrine Carcinoma (MANEC) of the Gallbladder: A Systematic Review of Outcomes Following Surgical Management. In Vivo 2019; 33:1721-1726. [PMID: 31662496 PMCID: PMC6899129 DOI: 10.21873/invivo.11662] [Citation(s) in RCA: 8] [Impact Index Per Article: 1.3] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [MESH Headings] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 07/20/2019] [Revised: 08/04/2019] [Accepted: 08/05/2019] [Indexed: 12/16/2022]
Abstract
BACKGROUND/AIM Mixed adenoneuroendocrine carcinomas (MANEC) are uncommon tumors exhibiting both adenocarcinomatous and neuroendocrine differentiation. They most commonly arise in the colon, appendix, rectum or stomach, however, a limited number of MANECs have been reported to originate in the gallbladder (gMANEC). The aim of our systematic review was to accumulate the existing data on gMANEC with special attention to the clinicopathological characteristics, surgical approach, recurrence and survival rates of patients diagnosed with this rare malignancy. MATERIALS AND METHODS A comprehensive search of the literature was undertaken. RESULTS A total of 15 studies (14 case reports and 1 case series), which comprised 19 patients who successfully underwent surgical treatment for gMANEC were included in our systematic review. During a median follow-up of 8 months (range=2-48 months) the overall survival was 87% and the recurrence rate was 21%. CONCLUSION Achievement of complete surgical resection is the mainstay of the therapeutic management. Additionally, the stage of the disease and the histopathological mapping of these tumors affect decision-making for adjuvant chemotherapy and seem to define the prognostic course of each patient.
