Abstract
Objective We aimed to identify generic measures of self-regulation and to examine the
degree to which these measures fit a recently developed conceptual model of
self-regulation in a rehabilitation context. Data sources Pubmed, Embase, PsycInfo, and CINAHL were searched. Review methods Articles were included if they were published between January 2015 and August
2020 and reported on empirical studies (trials and observational studies)
using a measure of self-regulation or a related concept, in an adult
rehabilitation population. Main content was analysed by linking all items of
the selected measures to one or more of the six sub-themes of
self-regulation: (1) insight into physical and cognitive impairments, (2)
insight into the consequences of the impairments, (3) insight into
abilities, (4) to be able to communicate limitations, (5) trust in body and
functioning, and (6) make use of abilities. Results Two reviewers independently screened 7808 abstracts, resulting in the
inclusion of 236 articles. In these articles, 80 different measures were
used to assess self-regulation or related concept. Nineteen of these
measures met the inclusion criteria and were included for the content
analyses. Nine of these were self-efficacy measures. No measures covered
four or more of the six sub-themes of self-regulation. The three sub-themes
on gaining insights were covered less compared to the sub-domains ‘trust’
and ‘make use of abilities’. Conclusions Many measures on self-regulation exist None of these measures cover all six
sub-themes of self-regulation considered important to measure
self-regulation as a rehabilitation outcome.

Abstract
ABSTRACT:
Arthritis is the spectrum of conditions that cause swelling and tenderness of one or more body joints with key symptoms of joint pain and stiffness. Its progression is closely tied to age. Although there are a number of arthritis types, such as, ankylosing, gout, joint infections, juvenile idiopathic, reactive and septic; the two most common types are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Osteoarthritis causes the articulating smooth cartilage that covers the ends of bones, where they form a joint, to breakdown. Rheumatoid arthritis is a disease in which the immune system attacks joints, beginning with the cartilaginous lining of the joints. The latter is considered a systemic disease, i.e. affecting many parts of the body, but the respiratory system is involved in 10 to 20 % of all mortality. Osteoarthritis is one of the leading causes of disability globally. Several preventive measures to control arthritis have been suggested, such as the use of analgesics, non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs, moderate to vigorous physical activity and exercise, reducing sedentary hours, getting adequate sleep and maintaining a healthy body weight. Foods including, a Mediterranean diet rich in fruits and vegetables, fish oil, medicinal plants and microbiota are vital protective methods. The intake of vitamins such as A and C, minerals e.g., selenium and zinc; poly unsaturated and n-3 fatty acids is also a significant preventive measures.

Abstract
Background:Physiotherapists promote physical activity and exercise, yet patient adherence is often poor. To support patient adherence, behavior change techniques (BCTs) should be applied. These are insufficiently covered in physiotherapy curricula.Objective:The aim of this study was to evaluate a behavior change counseling training program for physiotherapists. The specific aims were to investigate: (1) physiotherapists' satisfaction with the training; (2) changes in physiotherapists' knowledge of BCTs and communication techniques immediately after the training and 6 weeks later; and (3) changes in physiotherapists' self-reported use of these techniques 6 weeks after the training.Methods:We conducted a single-group pre-post intervention study. Data of 56 physiotherapists (47 female, mean age 48.0 years) who participated in the training program "BeFo" (German: "Bewegungstherapie-Fortbildungen") were analyzed. Knowledge of BCTs and communication techniques, intention to apply these techniques, action and coping planning were assessed at baseline (t1), after the training (t2), and 6 weeks later (t3) using questionnaires. Participants' satisfaction was evaluated at t2, their use of BCTs and communication techniques at t1 and t3.Results:Fifty-four participants (96.4%) were satisfied with BeFo. One-way repeated-measures ANOVAs and Friedman's ANOVA revealed increased knowledge (Chi2(2) = 28.12, p < .001) and improved action planning (F(2, 98) = 22.65; p < .001) and coping planning (F(2, 100) = 19.28, p < .001) at t2 and t3. Higher use of BCTs and communication techniques at t3 was identified when participants with high baseline values were excluded.Conclusion:BeFo could be successfully implemented for physiotherapists. Our results imply that BeFo is a promising approach to improve physiotherapists' behavior change counseling skills.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE A few studies with a qualitative design have addressed physical activity (PA) maintenance in people with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), but none of them focused specifically on maintenance of PA according to public health recommendations. The purpose of this study was to describe perceptions of PA maintenance during the second year of an outsourced 2-year support program among people with RA. METHODS For this descriptive design with a qualitative inductive approach, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 18 participants with RA (3 men and 15 women). Variation in age, disease duration, activity limitation, pain, levels of PA, and PA maintenance was targeted through strategic sampling. Qualitative content analysis was used, and a pattern of theme, subthemes, and categories was constructed based on the participants' perceptions of PA maintenance. RESULTS A main overarching theme, "A necessary investment in future health"-with 3 subthemes of dedication, awareness, and affinity-was identified as participants' perceptions of PA maintenance. Eight categories further described are a changed mindset, habits, commitments, monitoring, insights in PA, health gains, social support, and PA context. CONCLUSIONS PA according to public health recommendations was perceived as a true investment in future health and wellness requiring dedication, awareness, and affinity. To promote PA maintenance, physical therapists working with people with chronic conditions should consider strengthening these prerequisites by targeting patients' negative attitudes to PA, supporting their creation of PA habits to incorporate in daily routines, introducing monitoring of PA intensity, supporting development of PA self-regulation skills, and providing suitable gym facilities with the possibility of peer support.

Abstract
Moderate-intensity physical activity (PA) is recommended for the management of Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). Recent evidence suggests that reducing sedentary behaviour (promoting 'sedentary breaks' and light intensity PA) may also offer potential for improving RA outcomes, independently of the benefits of moderate-intensity PA. Unfortunately, people living with RA engage in very little moderate-intensity PA, and the spend the majority of the day sedentary. Interventions to support PA and sedentary behaviour change in this population are therefore required. Psychological theory can provide a basis for the development and implementation of intervention strategies, and specify the cognitive processes or mechanisms assumed to result in behavioural change. Application of psychological theory to intervention development and evaluation, therefore, permits evaluation of "how things work", helping to identify optimal intervention strategies, and eliminate ineffective components. In this review, we provide an overview of existing PA and sedentary behaviour change interventions in RA, illustrating the extent to which current interventions have been informed by psychological theories of behaviour change. Recommendations are provided for future interventional research in this domain, serving as a reference point to encourage proper application of behavioural theories into intervention design, implementation and appraisal.

Abstract
Background: Physical therapists have unique expertise in planning, prescribing, and supporting exercise for patients with rheumatic diseases. Promoting exercise can be a challenge, but descriptions of physical therapists' experiences within the field of rheumatology are limited.Objective: The purpose of this study was to explore and describe ways of understanding exercise promotion among physical therapists working in rheumatology.Design and Method: A phenomenographic approach was used to analyze semi-structured interviews with 25 physical therapists working primarily within the field of rheumatology from eight different physical therapy departments at hospitals across Sweden.Results: Four ways of understanding exercise promotion were identified. These were named: exercise promotion as information and monitoring of the behavior, as facilitation of skills building, as co-creation of awareness, and as the development of independence and self-reflection.Conclusion: Physical therapists in rheumatology understand exercise promotion in various ways that differ with respect to comprehensiveness and patient-centeredness. The physical therapists' use of behavior change techniques serves different purposes in exercise promotion, varying from external control to self-management. The present results might thus be used to develop awareness, knowledge, and skills for more deliberate exercise promotion among physical therapists working with patients having rheumatic diseases.
