Abstract
The pumpkin leaf was extracted by the decoction method, and it was used as an eco-friendly, nontoxic inhibitor of copper in 0.5 M H2SO4 corrosion media. To evaluate the composition and protective capacity of the pumpkin leaf extract, Fourier infrared spectroscopy, electrochemical testing, XPS, AFM, and SEM were employed. The results showed that the pumpkin leaf extract (PLE) is an effective cathode corrosion inhibitor, exhibiting exceptional protection for copper within a specific temperature range. The corrosion inhibition efficiency of the PLE against copper reached 89.98% when the concentration of the PLE reached 800 mg/L. Furthermore, when the temperature and soaking time increased, the corrosion protection efficiency of 800 mg/L PLE on copper consistently remained above 85%. Analysis of the morphology also indicated that the PLE possesses equally effective protection for copper at different temperatures. Furthermore, XPS analysis reveals that the PLE molecules are indeed adsorbed to form an adsorption film, which is consistent with Langmuir monolayer adsorption. Molecular dynamics simulations and quantum chemical calculations were conducted on the main components of the PLE.

Abstract
Calcium phosphate (CaPO4) coating is one of various methods that is used to modify the topography and the chemistry of Ti dental implant surface to solve sever oral problems that result from diseases, accidents, or even caries due to its biocompatibility. In this work, anodized (Ti-bare) was coated by CaPO4 prepared from amorphous calcium phosphate nanoparticles (ACP-NPs) and confirmed the structure by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) techniques. Ti-bare was coated by prepared CaPO4 through the casting process, and the morphology of Ti/CaPO4 was characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM) where the nano-flakes shape of CaPO4 and measured to be 60 ~ 80 nm was confirmed. The stability of Ti-bare and coated Ti/CaPO4 was studied in a simulated saliva solution using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and linear polarization techniques to deduce their corrosion resistance. Furthermore, three essential oils (EO), Cumin, Thyme, and Coriander, were used to stimulate their synergistic effect with the CaPO4 coat to enhance the corrosion resistance of Ti implant in an oral environment. The fitting EIS parameters based on Rs [RctC]W circuit proved that the charge transfer resistance (Rct) of Ti/CaPO4 increased by 264.4, 88.2, and 437.5% for Cumin, Thyme, and Coriander, respectively, at 2% concentration.

Abstract
The genus Thymus L., belonging to the Lamiaceae family, contains about 220 species with a distribution that mainly extends in Europe, northwest Africa, Ethiopia, Asia, and southern Greenland. Due to their excellent biological properties, fresh and/or dried leaves and aerial parts of several Thymus ssp. have been utilized in the traditional medicine of many countries. To evaluate not only the chemical aspects but also the biological properties, the essential oils (EOs), obtained from the pre-flowering and flowering aerial parts of Thymus richardii subsp. nitidus (Guss.) Jalas, endemic to Marettimo Island (Sicily, Italy), were investigated. The chemical composition of the EOs, obtained by classical hydrodistillation and GC-MS and GC-FID analyses, showed the occurrence of similar amounts of monoterpene hydrocarbons, oxygenated monoterpenes, and sesquiterpene hydrocarbons. The main constituents of the pre-flowering oil were β-bisabolene (28.54%), p-cymene (24.45%), and thymol methyl ether (15.90%). The EO obtained from the flowering aerial parts showed as principal metabolites β-bisabolene (17.91%), thymol (16.26%), and limonene (15.59%). The EO of the flowering aerial parts, and its main pure constituents, β-bisabolene, thymol, limonene, p-cymene, and thymol methyl ether were investigated for their antimicrobial activity against oral pathogens and for their antibiofilm and antioxidant properties.

Abstract
The chemical profile of the essential oil (EO) of the aerial parts of Thymus leucotrichus var. creticus (Lamiaceae), a taxon not previously studied, was investigated by GC-MS analysis, using a DB-Wax polar column. Oxygenated monoterpenes and monoterpene hydrocarbons dominate the EO, with thymol (46.97%) and p-cymene (28.64%) as the main constituent of these two classes, respectively. The ability of the EO of T. leucotrichus to reduce Cd toxicity was studied in aquatic moss Leptodictyum riparium. To study EO-induced tolerance to Cd toxicity, apex growth, number of dead cells, DNA damage and antioxidant response in gametophytes were examined. The exogenous application of the EO yields a resumption of growth rate and a reduction in the number of dead cells; it also reduces the oxidative stress induced by Cd, as demonstrated by the reduction of the ROS content (with a decrease of 1.52% and 5%) and by the increased activity of antioxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase (SOD) (with an increase of 1.44% and 2.29%), CAT catalase (1.46% and 2.91%) and glutathione-S-transferase GST (1.57% and 1.90%). Furthermore, the application of the EO yields a reduction of DNA damage. These results clearly indicate the protective capacity of the EO of T. leucotrichus in modulating the redox state through the antioxidant pathway by reducing the oxidative stress induced by Cd.

Abstract
In present study, the inhibitive impact of Ptychostomum schleicheri extract, a moss species of Bryaceae family, on the mild steel corrosion in 1 M HCl at ambient temperature was firstly analysed by Tafel extrapolation method, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and linear polarization (LPR) techniques. Electrochemical tests were conducted by 1 h immersing mild steels in HCl solutions containing four various concentrations of moss extract. At a concentration of 0.200% (w/v), the moss extract displayed around 90 percent inhibition efficiency by three electrochemical methods, and it was also observed that its protective effect increased depending on the upsurge in the concentration of Ptychostomum schleicheri extract. The morphologies of mild steels surface in 1 M HCl with and without P. schleicheri extract at the end of 1 h immersion time were visualized by a metal microscope. Finally, according to the electrochemical data and surface morphology results, it can be said that the extract molecules adsorbed on the mild steel surface to achieve almost maximal coverage and contact.

Abstract
Environmentally benign plant extract compounds have gained significant attention in the corrosion prevention applications due to their biodegradability and eco-friendliness. The adsorptive corrosion control action of Prosopis juliflora plant extract was investigated using differential mass change experiments and the mechanism was validated using Tafel and Nyquist plots. The effect of green corrosion inhibitor concentration (0-800 ppm) on corrosion rate at different solution temperatures (305.15, 310.15 and 315.15 K) in 1 M HCl was studied. The corrosion inhibitor exhibited monolayer surface coverage and confirmed by Langmuir isotherm (R2 > 0.970). The negative values of Gibbs free energy (<20 kJ/mol) proved the electrostatic interaction between the inhibitor and metal surface. The enhanced energy barrier for the corrosion process was confirmed by changes in Ea in the presence of biomass-based inhibitor on the mild steel surface. Electrochemical impedance study proved that the double layer capacitance (Cdl) decreased and the resistance increased with increase in corrosion inhibitor concentration. The surface modifications on the metal were observed using scanning electroscope imaging. ATR studies were conducted for functional group identification of the corrosion inhibitor.

Abstract
Plant extracts have gained a lot of attention due to their ecofriendly nature for corrosion inhibition. In this study, we examined the inhibition performance of grape seed extract as an eco-environmental inhibitor for mild steel in hydrochloric acid medium. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, potentiodynamic polarization, and electrochemical noise techniques were employed to study mild steel's electrochemical behavior in the hydrochloric acid solutions containing grape seed extract. Results depicted that grape seed extract could successfully inhibit the corrosion of mild steel. Besides, water droplet contact angle, field-emission scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and atomic force microscopy were utilized to study the surface of mild steel specimens after dipping in acidic solutions. Electrochemical impedance results showed a corrosion efficiency of about 88% in 300 ppm of grape seed extract. Also, results revealed more compact corrosion products with improved integrity in the presence of grape seed, which confirmed electrochemical test results.

Abstract
Novel nitrogen and sulfur co-doped carbon dots (N,S-CDs) were synthesized via a hydrothermal procedure using citric acid (CA) and thiourea (TU) as precursors, and the corresponding corrosion protection performance was first investigated for Q235 carbon steel in 1 M HCl solution. Experimental results indicated that N,S-CDs as mixed-type corrosion inhibitors could effectively prevent Q235 carbon steel from corrosion in 1 M HCl solution, and the corrosion inhibition efficiency was improved with the increase in N,S-CD concentration. The maximum value was achieved at 400 ppm of N,S-CDs at 25 °C, which was approximately 96.6%, 94.6% and 90.55%, according to the potentiodynamic polarization curves, EIS results and weight loss measurement, respectively. Additionally, with the temperature ranging from 25 to 55 °C, the inhibition efficiency obtained from the weight loss measurement was enhanced from 90.55% to 94.04%. Such superior inhibition effect was assigned to the physisorption and chemisorption of N,S-CDs on the Q235 carbon steel surface, which was also be confirmed by XPS analysis. The adsorption of N,S-CDs onto a steel substrate conformed to the Langmuir adsorption isotherm.

Abstract
This review paper discusses the research work published in the last decade on the use of organic compounds and natural products as corrosion inhibitors for steel in CO2 and CO2 /H2 S coexisting environments. The carbon and mild steel samples tested are mostly immersed in CO2 -saturated NaCl/brine solutions or simulated oilfield waters. The influence of temperature, immersion time, CO2 partial pressure, pre-corrosion, flow rate/rotation speed, and the synergistic effect of other compounds on the corrosion inhibition effectiveness of organic compounds and natural products is presented. Primarily, weight loss and electrochemical techniques were used to evaluate the corrosion inhibition effectiveness of these compounds.

Abstract
Indigo is a plant dye that has been used as an important dye by various ancient civilizations throughout history. Today, due to environmental and health concerns, plant indigo is re-entering the market. Strobilanthes cusia (Nees) Kuntze is the most widely used species in China for indigo preparation. However, other species under Strobilanthes have a similar feature. In this work, 12 Strobilanthes spp. were analyzed using electrochemical fingerprinting technology. Depending on their electrochemically active molecules, they can be quickly identified by fingerprinting. In addition, the fingerprint obtained under different conditions can be used to produce scattered patter and heatmap. These patterns make plant identification more convenient. Since the electrochemically active components in plants reflect the differences at the gene level to some extent, the obtained electrochemical fingerprints are further used for the discussion of phylogenetics.

Abstract
This study examines the development of a new green and eco-friendly formulation derived from Opuntia dillenii seed oil (labeled as FOD) and its application as a corrosion inhibitor to protect iron which is subject to corrosion phenomena that become important especially in acidic environments as acid rain. Physicochemical properties and fatty acid analysis of Opuntia dillenii seed oil were performed and they demonstrated that the oil is a major source of unsaturated fatty acids, in particular linoleic acid, with a percentage of 73.388%. Corrosion inhibition effect of FOD was studied by gravimetric methods, electrochemical measurements, and scanning electron microscopy coupled with elemental analysis (SEM/EDX). Obtained results confirmed that FOD behaves as a good mixed corrosion inhibitor with predominant anodic activity. Inhibition efficiency of FOD is more important when the concentration of FOD and the immersion time increase, reaching values up to 99%. FOD forms a barrier layer on the surface of the iron, and thereby minimizes the contact area between the metal surface and the corrosive solution. The adsorption behavior of FOD on iron surface obeys Langmuir adsorption isotherm with chemisorption and physisorption mechanism.

Abstract
A facile and cost-effective layer-by-layer assembly method is reported for the fabrication of a superhydrophobic coating using room temperature vulcanized silicone rubber and silica particles of different diameters. The superhydrophobic coating shows a contact angle of 154.6° and a rolling angle of 9°. The coating exhibits excellent self-cleaning properties and corrosion resistance with good softness and mechanical durability. The sample maintains its good superhydrophobicity, even after a series of tests by knife scratching, cutting, and hammering. The fabrication method has great advantages in terms of efficiency, cost, simple procedure and conditions. Its wide application in different substrates and the use of environment-friendly materials are also beneficial to the large-scale production of the coating.

Abstract
1,3-Diphenyl-2-thiourea (DPTU) and 1-phenyl-3-(2-pyridyl)-2-thiourea (PPTU) were selected as the researched subject for investigating the effect of heteroatoms on the low carbon steel corrosion inhibition ability. Results from the potentiodynamic polarization measurements (PPM) indicate that the addition of a nitrogen atom in the benzene ring increases the corrosion inhibition efficiency of PPTU (97.2%), being higher than that of DPTU (93.1%) at the same condition of 2.0 × 10-4 M at 30 °C. The Nyquist diagrams show that increasing the concentrations of both DPTU and PPTU will enhance the charge-transfer resistance and reduce the double-layer capacitance. The obtained data based on PPM and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy methods are in accordance to the analysis based on the scanning electrochemical microscopy images. Besides, results from quantum chemical calculations prove that the heteroatoms in the inhibitor molecules are the adsorption centers, and the benzene rings increase the electrostatic interaction between the inhibitor molecules and the steel surface. Results from Monte Carlo and molecular dynamics simulation have clarified the adsorption mechanism of DPTU and PPTU on the steel surface. Adsorption energies confirm that PPTU displays the higher inhibition ability as compared with DPTU.

Abstract
In this research, the effect of Dexamethasone drug (DM) on mild steel corrosion in 2 M HCl was analyzed using weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and MD-simulation. In addition, Fourier transform infrared spectra (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and atomic force microscopy (AFM) were employed to inspect the mild steel surface in the blank and inhibited medium. For the optimization tool, adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) model was developed to predict the inhibition efficiency. The experimental data was categorized into two different sections for training and testing the ANFIS model. The developed model aimed to evaluate the fitness between the experimental and predicted values. From the results generated, optimum value (IE%) of DM was recorded as 80%, 81% and 83% at concentration of 0.4 g/L for weight loss, EIS and PDP respectively. Potentiodynamic polarization results reveal that Dexamethasone functions as a mixed-type inhibitor, whereas studies of EIS show that the inhibition mechanism is by the transfer of charges. Mild steel surface examination confirmed the presence of a protective adsorbed film on the mild steel surface. Thermodynamic parameters obtained imply that Dexamethasone is adsorbed on the steel surface by a physiochemical process and obeys Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Also the MD-simulation results evidenced that DM forms a metallic surface adsorbed film on the steel surface. From the ANFIS model, the sensitivity analysis shows that time and inhibitor concentration were the most important input variable while other input variables could not be neglected. ANFIS model coefficient of determination (R 2 0.993) was found between the observed and predicted values. ANFIS model gave optimum prediction (80%) with high degree accuracy and robustness. The outcomes of this investigation provide more information, simulation, and prediction about inhibition of metal corrosion.

Abstract
In this study, Kola nut extract (KE) was evaluated for inhibiting ability towards low carbon steel corrosion in 1 M HCl solution using weight loss and electrochemical techniques. The surface of the corroded carbon steel was examined by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and atomic force microscopy (AFM). Elemental composition of the corrosion products and/or adsorbed inhibitor film on the carbon steel surface was determined with the aid of an energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). The ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) experiments were also performed to get information about the interaction of KE with the carbon steel surface. It was found that KE exhibited good corrosion protection property. From weight loss technique, corrosion rate was reduced from 0.387 to 0.054 mm/year by 700 ppm of KE at room temperature after 24 h immersion and this corresponded to inhibition efficiency (IE) of 86%. The IE however depreciated with rise in temperature. FTIR results reveal that KE interacted with the carbon steel surface through the O and N heteroatoms of its phytoconstituents. FTIR spectroscopy, UV-vis, SEM, AFM, and EDX data provided proof of KE adsorption on the steel surface as reason for the corrosion inhibition.
