Abstract
A Pr-doped p-Cu2O thin film was prepared on indium tin oxide conductive glass by electrochemical deposition; the effect of Pr doping on the structure, morphology, and physicochemical properties of p-Cu2O was investigated. The results show that with the increase in Pr doping amount, the particle size of p-Cu2O increases, the absorption boundary redshifts, and the band-gap width decreases. Pr doping increases the flat band potential and carrier concentration of p-Cu2O; when the doping amount is 1.2 mM, the carrier concentration reaches 1.14 × 1024 cm-3. Compared with pure p-Cu2O, the charge transfer resistance of Pr-doped p-Cu2O decreases and the photocurrent and open circuit voltage increase, indicating that the carrier transfer rate is accelerated, and the separation efficiency of photogenerated electrons and holes is effectively improved. The result of a norfloxacin photocatalytic degradation experiment showed that the degradation rate of norfloxacin increased from 52.3% to 76.2% and Pr doping effectively improved the photocatalytic performance of p-Cu2O. The main reasons for enhancing the photocatalytic performance are that the band gap of Pr-doped p-Cu2O decreases, the Fermi level of Cu2O is closer to the valence band position, the hole concentration near the valence band, and the oxidation capacity increases, and more h+ oxidize norfloxacin molecules. In addition, the Pr in Pr-Cu2O acts as a conductor to guide electrons on the guide band to the crystal surface, which increases the contact between photogenerated electrons and dissolved oxygen, which is conducive to the formation of the active species ·O2- and can effectively reduce the recombination of photogenerated carriers. In the process of photocatalytic degradation of norfloxacin, the main active species are ·O2-, ·OH, and h+, which play auxiliary roles. TOC tests show that the norfloxacin molecules can be effectively degraded into small molecule organic matter, CO2, and H2O in the presence of Pr-doped p-Cu2O.

Abstract
Plant extracts are increasingly being examined in the corrosion inhibition of metal and alloys in various environments due to their potent antioxidant properties. The use of Artemisia annua L. aqueous extract (AAE) as an aluminium alloy 5083 (ALA) corrosion inhibitor in artificial seawater (ASW) was investigated using electrochemical tests and spectroscopy tools, while the active biocompounds found in AAE were analyzed using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Electrochemical results showed that AAE acts as an anodic inhibitor through the physisorption (ΔG ≈ –16.33 kJ mol−1) of extract molecules on the ALA surface, thus reducing the active sites for the dissolution of the alloy in ASW. Fourier-transform infrared spectra confirmed that phenolic acids found in AAE formed the surface layer that protects ALA against the corrosive marine environment, while HPLC analysis confirmed that the main phytoconstituents of AAE were chlorogenic acid and caffeic acid. The inhibition action of phenolic acids and their derivatives found in the AAE was based on the physisorption of caffeic acid on the ALA surface, which improved physicochemical properties of the barrier film and/or conversion of Al3+ to elemental aluminium by phenolic acids as reducens, which slowed down the diffusion rate of Al3+ to or from the ALA surfaces. The protective effect of the surface layer formed in the presence of AAE against ASW was also confirmed by inductively coupled plasma–optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) whereby the measured concentration of Al ions after 1 h of immersion of ALA in the pure ASW was 15.30 μg L−1 cm−2, while after the addition of 1 g L−1 AAE, the concentration was 3.09 μg L−1 cm−2.

Abstract
2,5-dihydroxy-1,4-dithiane (DDD) and 2,5-dimethy- [1.4] dithiane-2,5-diol (DTDD) two food flavors as environmentally-friendly inhibitors for Cu in 0.5 mol/L H2SO4 media were researched via theoretical calculation and experimental ways. Electrochemical measurement data showed that DDD and DTDD can exhibit high level anti-corrosion feature. The anti-corrosion efficiency of DDD and DTDD were as high as 99.6% and 98.9%, respectively. The atomic force microscope (AFM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) tests showed that the Cu specimens were immersed in the H2SO4 with 5 mM DDD and DTDD for 30 h at the 298 K, and the Cu specimen surface was still smooth. Besides, the adsorption of DDD and DTDD at the interface of Cu/solution was comply with Langmuir adsorption. Theoretical calculation data showed that DDD exhibit more ascendant anti-corrosion feature than DTDD.

Abstract
AbstractAn alternative green approach through which nanoscience/nanotechnology could be applied in the industry is being demonstrated in this study. Ethanol extracts of Allium cepa peels (Et-ACPE) is used to mediate the synthesis of silver nanoparticles (Et-AgNPs) at room temperature. Stable crystalline, monodisperse and non-agglomerated spherical NPs with zeta potential of −46.2 ± 0.1 mV and plasmon absorption at 435 nm are obtained. Silver atoms are predominantly oriented towards the Ag (111) plane in a face centered cubic structure with a = b = c = 4.0968 Å having $$\alpha = \beta = \gamma = 90^\circ$$

. The surfaces of the NPs becomes rich in electron cloud due to O atoms supplied by capped phyto-compounds of Et-ACPE. This enhances adsorption potential and more efficient inhibition (up to 90% at 30 °C) of X80 steel corrosion in 1 M HCl solution than using the crude extract. Investigation of corrosion products and morphologies of the steel surface by FTIR, SEM/EDS and AFM techniques reveals efficient surface protection through adsorption of Et-AgNPs facilitated mainly by O and –C = C– sites. Findings prove that the Et-AgNPs is a more efficient and thermally stable alternative ecofriendly anticorrosion additive for industrial cleaning and pickling operations than the crude extract.

Abstract
In the present study, ({2-[2-(7-Isopropyl-1,4-dimethyl-9,10-octahydro-phenanthren-1-yl)-4,5-dihydro-1-yl]-ethylamino}-methyl)-phosphonicimidazole (GSIM) was synthesized by introducing phosphonate (-PH2O3) group into imidazoline derivatives and its corrosion inhibition performance was studied for Q345 steel in acidic medium along with SIM using potentiodynamic polarization, EIS and SECM analysis. Surface analysis of steel samples was also performed by optical microscopy and SEM-EDS analysis after polarization tests. XPS was used to detect chemical composition of the surface passive films. It was observed that introducing -PH2O3 group not only improved the adsorption capacity on the metal surface by coordinating with iron ions, but also inhibited the interference of hydrogen bond formed by -NH2 group and water molecules on the adsorption. GSIM not only inhibited intercrystalline corrosion and pitting corrosion, but also reduced uniform corrosion. Thermodynamics studies demonstrated that GSIM followed the Langmuir adsorption isotherm and had a larger adsorption equilibrium constant than SIM, which indicated that it had a stronger adsorption capacity. XPS and UV confirmed that the coordination between GSIM and Fe3+ and hydrogen bonding between SIM and water molecules. The quantum chemical study further clarified that the site and strength of hydrogen bond between SIM and H2O and the dominant configuration and coordination stability of GSIM with Fe3+.

Abstract
For the first time, the zeolite-imidazole (ZIF-67) framework, a new subfamily of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), is synthesized on the graphene oxide (GO) platform. Co2+ (as a central atom) and 2-methylimidazole (as organic ligands) were assembled to fabricate ZIF-67/GO NPs for providing epoxy-based anti-corrosion coatings with both active (self-healing) and passive (barrier) performance. Also, the ZIF-67/GO NPs were modified by 3-Aminopropyl triethoxysilane (APS) to improve the particles compatibility with the epoxy matrix and control their solubility in saline media. The FE-SEM, FT-IR, UV-Vis, Raman, TGA, and low-angle XRD techniques were used to prove the successful ZIF-67 particles growth onto the GO platforms. Tafel (potentiodynamic) polarization test demonstrated that the ZIF-67/GO@APS NPs could protect the surface of steel through mixed anodic/cathodic type (O2 reduction/Fe oxidation) mechanisms and the corrosion current density of the iron sample decreased to 1.41 µA·cm-2. Interestingly, the epoxy coatings containing ZIF-67/GO and ZIF-67/GO@APS particles revealed long-term corrosion protection durability and outstanding self-healing anti-corrosion performance, which were well studied via EIS, salt spray, cathodic delamination, and pull-off techniques. The impedance value at the lowest frequency for the coating containing ZIF-67/GO@APS after 50 days decreased from 10.7 Ω·cm2 to 10.2 Ω·cm2 that showed the lowest reduction among the studied samples.

Abstract
In this paper, the simple and low-cost water extraction way was used to acquisition Betel leaves extracts (BLE). The water as the extraction solvent has the characteristics of low price, environmentally friendly, and good solubility for other extraction solvents. BLE was researched as an environmental-friendly inhibitor via various experimental methods and theoretical calculations. Electrochemical experiments manifest that BLE can restrain reactions of the cathode and anode of Q235 steel. The BLE concentration was 400 mg/L, the anti-corrosion efficiency was close to 94%. The experimental data show that BLE can show high-quality anti-corrosion nature for Q235 steel immersing in 1 M hydrochloric acid (HCl) environment at a certain temperature range. The morphology maps of scanning electron microscope (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) strongly proves the data of electrochemical experiments. In addition, the BLE adsorption at the Q235 steel surface belongs to the Langmuir mono-layer adsorption. Quantum chemical calculations (QCC) and molecular dynamics simulations (MDS) effectually manifest that BLE can show decent anti corrosion character.

Abstract
In this work, graphene oxide (GO) based nano-platforms were applied as a non-hazardous solid container with high encapsulating capacity and controllable release activity of eco-friendly inhibitor. For the first time, the adsorption and release properties of the praseodymium cations (Pr3+) on GO nanosheets functionalized with polyaniline (PANI) were investigated. The Pr3+ cations adsorption/desorption capacity of GOPANI nano-sheets was assessed by Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM), and High-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM) techniques. The obtained results proved that the container modified with Pr3+ cations at pH of 7, 600 ppm of adsorpt, and 1 mg/cc of adsorbent dosage provided the highest capacity of inhibitors adsorption/release rates. The adsorption capacity of the GO-PANIs reached more than 500 mg/g. Also, the modified carrier desorbed about 70 % of loaded Pr3+ cations in the corrosion simulated condition. The self-healing anti-corrosion ability of the constructed containers in an organic-inorganic hybrid coating (OIHC) was shown by electrochemical analyses results. The resistance of coating with the loaded carriers has increased about 1 order of magnitude in comparison with the neat silane. Moreover, the scratched coatings containing the inhibitor loaded GO-PANIs showed extraordinary total resistance of about 25 Kohm. cm2.

Abstract
Nowadays, theoretical calculation tools have become powerful in predicting the behavior of corrosion inhibitors on the surface of metals and, therefore, avoiding energy consumption and the cost of experimental tests. This work aims to predict the inhibitory power of some furan derivatives on Cu (111), Fe (110), Al (111) and Sn (111) surfaces in acidic media. For this purpose, three furan derivatives—furan-2-carbaldehyde (FF1), 5-(hydroxymethyl)furfural (FF2) and 5-(hydroxymethyl)furoic acid (FF3)—have been selected to compare their intrinsic properties against corrosion as well as their behavior on iron (Fe), copper (Cu), aluminum (Al) and tin (Sn) surfaces in acid medium. Typically, the anti-corrosive properties of FF1, FF2 and FF3 were studied by using quantum chemical calculations and Monte Carlo simulations. Density Functional Theory (DFT), lowest unoccupied (ELUMO) and highest occupied (EHOMO) molecular orbital energies, energy gap (∆E), chemical hardness (η), softness (σ), electronegativity (χ), electrophilicity (ω) and nucleophilicity (ε) have been calculated and discussed. Theoretical vibrational spectra were also calculated to exhibit the functional groups in the selected chemicals. On the other hand, the adsorption behaviors of FF1, FF2 and FF3 were studied on the Fe(110), Cu(111), Al(111) and Sn(111) surfaces. As a result, the adsorption energies of all molecules are ordered as Fe(110) < Cu(111) < Al(111) < Sn(111) and FF3 seems to be more effective as a corrosion inhibitor due to the existence of both carboxylic acid and hydroxyl groups, which consist of favorable sites of adsorption into the metal surface.
