An Entropy-Balanced Orthogonal Learning Bamboo Forest Growth Optimization Algorithm with Quasi-Affine Transformation Evolutionary and Its Application in Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem

The bamboo forest growth optimization (BFGO) algorithm combines the characteristics of the bamboo forest growth process with the optimization course of the algorithm. The algorithm performs well in dealing with optimization problems, but its exploitation ability is not outstanding. Therefore, a new heuristic algorithm named orthogonal learning quasi-affine transformation evolutionary bamboo forest growth optimization (OQBFGO) algorithm is proposed in this work. This algorithm combines the quasi-affine transformation evolution algorithm to expand the particle distribution range, a process of entropy increase that can significantly improve particle searchability. The algorithm also uses an orthogonal learning strategy to accurately aggregate particles from a chaotic state, which can be an entropy reduction process that can more accurately perform global development. OQBFGO algorithm, BFGO algorithm, quasi-affine transformation evolutionary bamboo growth optimization (QBFGO) algorithm, orthogonal learning bamboo growth optimization (OBFGO) algorithm, and three other mature algorithms are tested on the CEC2017 benchmark function. The experimental results show that the OQBFGO algorithm is superior to the above algorithms. Then, OQBFGO is used to solve the capacitated vehicle routing problem. The results show that OQBFGO can obtain better results than other algorithms.

FD-DE: Differential Evolution with fitness deviation based adaptation in parameter control

Differential Evolution (DE) is arguably one of the most powerful stochastic optimization algorithms for different optimization applications, however, even the state-of-the-art DE variants still have many weaknesses. In this study, a new powerful DE variant for single-objective numerical optimization is proposed, and there are several contributions within it: First, an enhanced wavelet basis function is proposed to generate scale factor F of each individual in the first stage of the evolution; Second, a hybrid trial vector generation strategy with perturbation and t-distribution is advanced to generate different trial vectors regarding different stages of the evolution; Third, a fitness deviation based parameter control is proposed for the adaptation of control parameters; Fourth, a novel diversity indicator is proposed and a restart scheme can be launched if necessary when the quality of the individuals is detected bad. The novel algorithm is validated using a large test suite containing 130 benchmarks from the universal test suites on single-objective numerical optimization, and the results approve the big improvement in comparison with several well-known state-of-the-art DE variants. Moreover, our algorithm is also validated under real-world optimization applications, and the results also support its superiority.

Energy-Efficient Clustering Mechanism of Routing Protocol for Heterogeneous Wireless Sensor Network Based on Bamboo Forest Growth Optimizer

In wireless sensor networks (WSN), most sensor nodes are powered by batteries with limited power, meaning the quality of the network may deteriorate at any time. Therefore, to reduce the energy consumption of sensor nodes and extend the lifetime of the network, this study proposes a novel energy-efficient clustering mechanism of a routing protocol. First, a novel metaheuristic algorithm is proposed, based on differential equations of bamboo growth and the Gaussian mixture model, called the bamboo growth optimizer (BFGO). Second, based on the BFGO algorithm, a clustering mechanism of a routing protocol (BFGO-C) is proposed, in which the encoding method and fitness function are redesigned. It can maximize the energy efficiency and minimize the transmission distance. In addition, heterogeneous nodes are added to the WSN to distinguish tasks among nodes and extend the lifetime of the network. Finally, this paper compares the proposed BFGO-C with three classic clustering protocols. The results show that the protocol based on the BFGO-C can be successfully applied to the clustering routing protocol and can effectively reduce energy consumption and enhance network performance.

Task Scheduling in Cloud Computing Environment Using Advanced Phasmatodea Population Evolution Algorithms

Cloud computing seems to be the result of advancements in distributed computing, parallel computing, and network computing. The management and allocation of cloud resources have emerged as a central research direction. An intelligent resource allocation system can significantly minimize the costs and wasting of resources. In this paper, we present a task scheduling technique based on the advanced Phasmatodea Population Evolution (APPE) algorithm in a heterogeneous cloud environment. The algorithm accelerates up the time taken for finding solutions by improving the convergent evolution of the nearest optimal solutions. It then adds a restart strategy to prevent the algorithm from entering local optimization and balance its exploration and development capabilities. Furthermore, the evaluation function is meant to find the best solutions by considering the makespan, resource cost, and load balancing degree. The results of the APPE algorithm being tested on 30 benchmark functions show that it outperforms similar algorithms. Simultaneously, the algorithm solves the task scheduling problem in the cloud computing environment. This method has a faster convergence time and greater resource usage when compared to other algorithms.

A Convolution Location Method for Multi-Node Scheduling in Wireless Sensor Networks

The localization of continuous objects and the scheduling of resources are challenging issues in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Due to the irregular shape of the continuous target area and the sensor deployment in WSNs, the sensor data are always discrete and sparse, and most network resources are also limited by the node energy. To achieve faster detection and tracking of continuous objects, we propose a convolution-based continuous object localization algorithm (named CCOL). Moreover, we implement the idea of greedy and dynamic programming to design an energy-saving and efficient strategy model (named MSSM) to respond to emergencies caused by multiple continuous targets in most specific WSNs. The simulation experiments demonstrate that CCOL is superior to other localization algorithms in terms of time complexity and execution performance. Furthermore, the feasibility of the multinode scheduling strategy is verified by setting different mobile nodes to respond to the target area in certain green WSNs.
