Abstract
Abstract
New platinum(IV)-complexes with S-alkyl derivatives of thiosalicylic acid (alkyl = benzyl-(L1), methyl-(L2), ethyl-(L3), propyl-(L4), butyl-(L5)) have been synthesized and characterized by microanalysis, infrared spectroscopy, and 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy. Th e bidentate S,O ligand precursor, the S-butyl derivative of thiosalicylic acid (S-bu-thiosal), was prepared, and its crystal structure was determined. Single crystals suitable for X-ray measurements were obtained by slow crystallization from a DMSO-water system. S-bu-thiosal crystallized in a P21/c space group of a monoclinic crystal system with a = 8.0732 (3) Å, b = 19.6769 (4) Å, c = 8.2291 (3) Å and Z = 4. S-bu-thiosal also has a coplanar geometry.

Abstract
Square planar Pd (II) and octahedral Pt (IV) complexes with novel spherical aramides nanoparticles containing flexible linkages ligands have been synthesized and characterized using analytical and spectral techniques. The synthesized complexes have been tested for their antimicrobial activity using Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method. The antitumor activity has been performed using liver carcinoma (HEPG2), breast carcinoma (MCF7) and colon carcinoma (HCT 116) cell lines. Palladium complexes of polyamides containing sulfones showed the highest potency as antibacterial and antifungal agents. Platinum complexes containing sulfone and ether flexible linkages and chloro groups exhibited high potency as antitumor and antimicrobial agents. The uniform sizes of these nanomaterials could find biological uses such as immune assay and other medical purposes.

Abstract
2-oxo-4-phenyl-6-styryl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-pyrimidine-5-carboxylic acid (ADP) was complexed with acetates of Mn(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II). The structures of the ligand and its metal complexes were characterized by microanalysis, IR, NMR, UV-vis spectroscopy, magnetic susceptibility and TGA-DTA analyses. Octahedral and square planar geometries were suggested for the complexes in which the central metal ion coordinated with O donors of ligand and acetate ions. Each ligand binds the metal using carboxylate oxygens. The ligand and complexes were evaluated for their antimicrobial activities against different species of pathogenic bacteria and fungi. The present novel pyrimidine containing complexes could constitute a new group of antibacterial and antifungal agents.

Abstract
Some new platinum (IV) and palladium (II) thiodiamine complexes of type [Pt(L)2Cl2] and [Pd(L)Cl2], [where, L=(cyclohexyl-N-thio)-1,2-ethylenediamine (L(1)) and (cyclohexyl-N-thio)-1,3-propanediamine (L(2))] have been synthesized. The thiodiamines coordinate as a bidentate N-S ligand. The synthesized platinum (IV) and palladium (II) complexes of the thiodiamines were characterized by elemental analysis, IR, mass, electronic and (1)H NMR spectroscopic studies. These complexes were also screened for cytotoxicity, in vitro antifungal and in vitro antibacterial activities. Thermodynamic parameters such as activation energy (Ea), apparent activation entropy (S(#)) and enthalpy change (DeltaH) for the dehydration and decomposition reactions of one complex has also been evaluated.
